I'm not getting any of these poor reviews, If your local and want to grab some great food ,made on-site you can't beat the Maywood Market , whatever you need they have , the people working there are on point and very friendly, the produce they sell is top notch and if you need sweets to bring home to your child or grandkid as soon as you walk in it's there. Why would you even compare to the GIANT super markets?? if you want a local ,friendly and top rate MarketPlace this is the place. This is not the first time I have purchased expired food at this market. I should have know better when the meat aisle smelled bad. The Dakota Grass fed beef I bought today has 'use/sell by date 7/22/26' and it's 7/28/26. The yogurts I bought last week were expired - sadly I checked the date after I opened one at home and it was clearly spoiled upon looking at it. I don't mind paying a bit more for the convenience of this market but not at the cost of buying food that has expired. read more

I can see why this place has gotten the accolades that it did - it's a very well-operated local grocery that offers a nice variety of items and surprisingly good prices at the fruit section as well. Their produce is definitely above average in terms of quality especially when it comes to their meat and cheese selections. Their fruit selection is also very good and there are some decent prices to be had which was surprising for a small local grocer. The folks who work here are also pretty friendly. There is a reasonable amount of parking in their lot and there is plenty of street parking in the area as well. All in this place definitely is a great option to shop if you're looking for some above average grocery options. read more

I had a terrible experience at Maywood Market. The seafood salad is clearly marked $10.99 per pound, but when I added salmon and shrimp, they charged me $11.99 per pound instead. Nowhere does it say the price changes if you add both it just feels like they make up prices as they go. I've bought this salad before and the price has been different every time depending on who's working. That's not only confusing, it's dishonest. On top of that, the staff was rude and made me feel like I was the problem for questioning why I was being overcharged. Charging customers extra without posting it is misleading. I saw a New Jersey article on this place and since I was going to be in the neighborhood, I made it a point to visit. Although I spent some money here, I was disappointed. This reminds of a low-end Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace, which I like a lot better. The vegetables look good at this place ( I bought some) but the prepared food I tried was awful. I had a Mediterranean focaccia sandwich and their potato salad. The sandwich was super dry and tasteless and the potato salad had one note of vinegar. I made potato salad for the first time this year and it came out 1,000 times better. Besides this the store layout is a little maze-like. Had the New Jersey article not touted this marketplace as some place I can spend all day and get lost in, I probably would have rated this 3 stars. Nevertheless, it does not live up to the hype for me. I live many miles away from here but even if it were in my town, I would barely frequent it it or just stop by for the vegetables. Their organic scallions were the best, however, so that gets 5 stars. Everything else was mediocre. read more

Maywood markets prepared food are amazing. Just remember it's a convenience store and you will pay more money for any products. You just happen to pick up while you're there. The service is also great and it's very clean. If there was an honest mistake made or if something was wrong with the food they always honor it without question that is why they've number one with us!!! if you get something that didn't taste good or something was off tell them. My wife orders from this place and today put an abrupt end to my purchasing there. I've had my issues with their fruit that goes bad a day or 2 after purchase and the bad shrimp. Today my wife had some items delivered, one of which was a reuben sandwich that cost $13.99. I unwrapped the sandwich which seemed to have a good amount of pastrami and cole slaw. When I took my first bite, the meat was so tough I couldn't even chew it, this was true for the rest of this half of sandwich. I didn't even attempt to eat the other half. This place is so overrated. Maywood's Marketplace has been one of my favorite discoveries in recent years. Hidden on Maywood's main drag, it doesn't have the large, open footprint of Franklin Lake's Market Basket but its quality of prepared food, fruit and vegetables are equal to it. It's also one of only two places I've found that carry Zadie's Brownies, which are incredible. If you've never been, you owe it to yourself to visit Maywood's Marketplace at least once. read more

When I don't want to battle the lines at Shoprite/Costco, I go to Maywood marketplace. I kind of miss the use of the front main street entrance, but still plenty of parking in to be found in front or back. The prices here for produce, cheese and meats are on par, but some other grocery items here might be a tad higher than normal. That's ok though, because you're paying for convenience. However, the hot food items they serve here are really good and affordable! The chicken pot pie they sell is a go-to for when I can't make up my mind on what to make/eat for dinner. They have a ton of other selections like side veggies and entrees and I appreciate the wide selection of baked goods. They also sell some alcohol like beer here too. I absolutely LOVEEEEE Maywood market. I live right down the road and have to stop myself from going to Maywood Marker regularly because it's so amazing. They carry a ton of speciality items and the owner is Greek and imports food, frozen foods, drinks, spices, honey, alcohol and so much more from Greece making this place a mini Astoria in Bergen county. Their salad bar is incredible, along with their prepared foods section. Their cheese section has an abundance of different types of cheese from all over the world. They have a tons of hard to find items as well including blue heirloom eggs, prepacked drinks and candy/chocolate. Their produce is also unmatched coming directly from Amish country so you know it's fresh. Their meat and poultry is also fantastic having mostly prepackaged and local poultry from Goffle Road Poultry in Hawthorne. They also carry Bell & Evans and it's cheaper than big grocery store chains. Highly recommend this gourmet market, but make sure if you go here it's not for a quick stop in as you could stroll the aisles for hours. read more

Finding this interesting market was a pleasant surprise -- we were killing some time before our dinner reservations nearby - boy am I glad we stopped in. Maywood is more of a foodie town then I anticipated -- hosting Laotian and Eastern European and various varieties of Latino cuisine. This town is kinda under the radar and dressed in blue collar roots, but this market is sophisticated in the variety of specialty everything, belying its location. Maywood Market is now a must stop in my ever evolving local food shopping rotation. I couldn't believe the excellent value for specialty cheeses and charcuterie - like half of anyone around -- even Trader Joe's. The wine and beer selection is large and eclectic and skewed to lower price points. The prepared food selection is mostly Italian and looks delicious. We bought some Prosciutto de Parma which at $14.95 lb is a STEAL. Twice the price most anywhere else. Aged Gouda, including some Italian versions were like 3 bucks a wedge and absolutely delicious. Produce looked fresh and I'm ready for a repeat recon this week. TBC Top Tip: Park on the street if you can. The parking lot is small and circuitous. Maywood marketplace five years ago used to be the place to go for amazing prepared meals, catering and a great overall local food store. Let me preface that this was a regular stop for my mother because of the quality of food and the service. Now all of that's changed unfortunately. Management/ ownership has become money hungry and now charges 10% of your grocery bill as a delivery fee which they call a convenience charge. Here's the best part of this. the so called delivery fee does not go to the delivery person because it is listed as a convenience charge. Therefore, the delivery person only gets whatever tip is given on top of the delivery/convenience charge. Absolutely ridiculous! Not to mention, that there have been many items that were either questionable as to their expiration date or very close to their expiration date delivered to my mom's house. Bread in the picture was purchased 3 days ago. It's unfortunate, because I believe in giving back to local stores however, this is just not worth the over priced prices, lack of quality and nickel in and diming for delivery. read more

If I could give a NEGATIVE 5 I would. This was our first time ordering catering from Maywood Marketplace. We ordered a cooked turkey for Thanksgiving with CARVING. I called over the phone before ordering and specifically asked if their CARVING meant it would be put back together whole for presentation purposes, the response was YES it will be put back together. When we went into the store to order the turkey we ASKED AGAIN if the carving meant it would be put back together as an entire turkey for presentation purposes. We were told YES it will be put back together. Fast forward to the day before Thanksgiving we picked up the turkey to find out it was carved and NOT put back together. The catering is very disappointing. Besides it not being carved the way we were told it would, there was only a small amount of tin foil covering the turkey. When you pick up catering from other places it's always wrapped tightly with tin foil/ clear wrap so no air easily touches the food. I called and spoke with the OWNER MANNY, he was EXTREMELY RUDE and NASTY!!!!! Never once did he apologize or say how can I make things better so you return as a customer. Clearly doesn't care about customer satisfaction. He said you can come and get your $10 back for the carving. Completely dismissing the point that the carving wasn't done as it said it would be. He said he's been doing this for over 20years and it's always been done this way. That is fine but by no means is it carved and put it back together. The entire turkey is broken apart with the parts all out of place. I went to a butcher showed him the pictures, asked his opinion and he agreed this is not put back together. Maywood Market has False advertising, completely LIED, COMPLETELY disappointing, AWFUL service, will NEVER order from there again This cost $150 with the carving ! Happy Thanksgiving read more

Maywood Marketplace does not look like much when you go in but the number of cars in the parking lot and customers streaming in and out should indicate that this place is a wonderland. As soon as you walk in, you see a long aisle of fresh produce at good prices. We recently enjoyed very sweet grapes and fresh apple cider. Winding around to the right is where the magic happens. Most customers seem to be shopping here for the prepared foods - whether these are items that are prepackaged, like desserts, meals, sandwiches, and soups or ordering from the salad bar or hot foods counter. They also have a little area for sushi and a fish counter. I recently placed what felt like an endless order for things and the woman threw in an extra empanada. That warmed my heart. Granted, they were having a "2 for.." special and there were three left but still. The empanadas were delicious. Chicken parm portions were huge. Meatloaf was not as good, way too salty for me. The store has aisles filled with foods from all ethnicities, which I really like. I also appreciated that they had a great selection of Bob's Red Mill. They have a meat aisle, an area for bread, a place to customize cannolis, and open fridges with unique drinks. My favorite thing here is the clean create your own salad bar that they toss up to perfection. They have tons of add ins for you to choose from - one of my favorites is the pesto grilled chicken to make your salad a colorful masterpiece. Someone ordered a tray from here for a work function. I don't normally break out the camera in that situation, but I had to for this: Some of the sun dried tomatoes were brown and tasted rotten. I made sure to taste it and not just assume the brown was bad. Nope, it's bad. The pickles don't look natural. The tossed salad was completely untossed. Veggies were generally fresh, but sandwiches are relatively subpar. Wrap tortillas are cheap. Olives might have been the best part of all this. I'm not a huge fan of sandwiches and wraps, but at least give me something fresh and high quality and I'll appreciate it. Whenever I visit my daughter in NJ, I always make it a point to go to Maywood Market. They have a great assortment of vegetables, cheeses, grab and go, not to mention their deli section that has any kind of ready to eat Italian style meats and vegetables. I love their "famous" grilled chicken breast that they stack a mile high because they sell so much of it. Don't know what to cook for dinner? You can get anything you need there from lasagna to shepherds pie, sold by the pound and just reheat. They also have vegetables to go along with your main. On the healthier side, their salad station is popular where you can grab a bowl of greens and the counter people will customize however and whatever toppings you want on your salad. On a recent visit they had Alaskan King Salmon fresh for $21.99/lb. My husband and I purchased some, grilled it, and it was the real deal. How they could offer that price when King Salmon here in Alaska was $38.99/lb the last time I looked is beyond me. They also had oysters for a great price along with Norwegian salmon and everything looked very fresh. Great assortment and cuts of red meat, pork, and chicken. They do also carry the usual groceries such as dairy, canned goods, pasta etc. Love this place! read more

Maywood market semeed like it had it all especially the deli area. I was in the mood for breaded eggplant sandwich so I went for it. The eggplant sucked here especially because they microwave it to heat it up. It was mushy and not flavorful. There is however a lot of good food here or at least it looks good. I was certainly very disappointed when I called and asked to place a pickup order on St Patty's Day. The reason that I was disappointed is that I wasn't told they were close to being sold out at 4:30 pm. I'm sure there was the usual high demand for corned beef and cabbage on the once a year holiday. It just seems very unusual that a business that does the volume of catering the Maywood Marketplace does would run out of the biggest seller for that day hours before they were scheduled to close and they refused to sell a takeout meal. Seems both this establishment and Twin Doors forgot our "the customers" patience through a tough year and a half. I'll certainly remember the support us customers got in return. read more
