Monkey bars and big kid slides
    Joy G.

My kiddos love this park! Located next to Oak Grove Elementary on Sanborn in Aliso Viejo, It is around the corner from our house and it is very quiet and clean. The park has a cute woodland theme with several lots for kids of all sizes.. The ground is not made of rubber, but sand with plenty of swings for babies to big kids, rock climbing, lots of slides, monkey bars, and a rope canopy they can climb as well. The equipment looks only less than a couple years old. There's also a plenty of canopies and trees for shade. There's about 4-5 benches for picnics and parties, lots of grassy area, and benches. There's also a restroom nearby. Parking is also quite easy as there's plenty of spaces and it is next to an elementary school and people usually park there during the weekends. There's plenty of street parking as well. A cute stairway can be found on Sanborn, just south of Key Largo Street, that will lead you down to the park. My daughter prefers running down the man made paths on the hill next to the steps. PET FRIENDLY! People would bring their dogs and kids to play here, and there's a doggy bag dispenser located next to the parking lot by school. Bring the kids and your doggies, this park is cute and fun!

This review is specifically for the toddler playground…read more I have been to another playground designed by the same manufacturer as this one and it's one of our favorites. I was excited to go to this park for a change of scenery but was severely disappointed immediately upon arrival. The equipment is so high off the ground that is impossible for small children to get on by themselves. There are sharp corners, bolts and plates exposed at the bottom of the equipment because so much of the wood chips are missing. The huge drops make it an extremely unsafe playground for toddlers. Obviously kids should be supervised at all times but at this age they should have a little independence to climb things on their own; you should not have to lift them onto every piece of equipment and stand there with arms open the whole time to ensure they don't fall from a large drop. There is one ramp and the rest of the playground is surrounded by a cement path which is a huge step for a toddler to try to take on their own. In theory this is a great park. The equipment is nice and it's enclosed (although the gate latch is broken off and rusted) but they need to add about 8+ inches of wood chips to make it reasonably accessible for the 2-5 age group. I spoke to another mom who said that she has been taking her child to this park for about a year and it has always been this way. I have a hard time believing I am the only one who has raised this concern, yet it appears that nothing has been done about it.

There's no way a 2 yr old (or even a 5 year old) can climb this & there are sharp corners exposed underneath that should be covered.

This is a nice local park to visit and walk around in if you don't go with dogs. I say this because…read moreof the copious amounts of goose poops everywhere and the amount of shrieking children it contains. Parking is plentiful but you will be paying $3-5 per vehicle. It's best to use the OC Park pass if you have one or just park at the nearby shopping center. Another gripe I have is the foul stench of the lake / reservoir. Not long ago, hundreds of dead fishes floated about and it was left like that for days. It's near the water reclamation facilities and even on sunnier clearer days, it just seems not worth walking nearby with dogs. So as much as I like the convenient location and the recreational facilities perfect for those with kids, it's just not for dog owners like me.
