I have a few pair of kick around pair that I got online, but I wanted to be fitted for a quality pair. My sales reps (yes, plural, two women helped me) were knowledgeable, they helped me understand the difference between the proper snug fit and just plain too tight. Did you know a good fit boot should "flip flop" on the heel a bit? Did you know that snug fit on the top of your foot is expected because a well made boot will stretch? Me either! I went through a process to find what I liked. I tried high end boots and even a few on sale. I landed on an Arait and she felt so good on my foot. I didn't purchase that day because I wanted to try all my options. I made the mistake of going to another boot store on Lynnhaven Parkway--I won't say their name here. The service was like leaving Gucci and going to Walmart! I got a "Let me know if you need some help" yell from the front of the store". No one insisted on taking my boots off--like they did at Acredale: no one explained the leather construction and enforced stitching on the boots; no one explained how to wiggle my toes to squeeze into the boot--in fact, all I got from the employee was how she liked square toed boots and not the snip toes I was considering, and how every boot I looked at she already bought that boot. I left quickly and I already know I am gong to return to Acredale! In a day and time that customer service has gone to the way side, the customer service you receive here is nothing short of amazing. I had the best experience buying boots today. I wish I had gotten the names of the ladies who helped me because they were so good! I walked in and had in mind a specific boot, a Ariat boot and I only knew that the color was whiskey barrel. Immediately one of the ladies knew it was model Hazen just from the color... I did not expect them to have this boot in stock but they did. I had 3 employees help me, find the boot, the correct size and showed me how to take the boots on and off... So awesome. Yesterday (March 15th) I went into this store looking for boots and a hat since I haven't had a real good pair for quite a few years. The customer service was top notch. I feel terrible I can't remember the young ladies name that helped me (she either is still in high school or has recently graduated) but she made me laugh while simultaneously taking very good care of me. She brought me a nice wide selection of boots to choose from. For everyone I didn't like she would quickly fine another I did. She definitely knew her stuff. She told me all the points to consider for the perfect fit. She was spot on because the boots slid right on so smooth and they were comfortable. I was concerned about my wide calves but she assured me that wasn't any thing to worry about. I went in looking for a red or black pair and came out with a totally different color. Cannot miss Acredale Saddlery when you drive by it on Indian River Road - the imposing white stallion on the roof is like a monument to which followers of real equine interest pay homage to. There is a nice mural to the side of the building, another unique fixture to this shop. When you enter the shop you are greeted by the smell of real leather, nothing like it. On the right side are Stetsons of various sizes and colors seemingly catering to both genders alike. There were leather wallets and bags of different colors and styles and sizes, including some with fringe. The clothes were varied styles, from T shirts to dresses to button down shirts. There were jackets and boots and jewelry. Definitely a store to visit if you aren't quite sure what you're looking for... but know that you'd find something! read more

She just wasn't sold on the idea of getting a pair for herself. After several weeks of online investigation, we thought we knew what brand and style we wanted and why. Today, off we went to see and try what was available locally. And our minds were completely changed. All I can say is that Gina and the ladies there were amazing. First she showed me what I told her I wanted and then she showed me why they weren't right for me. When I asked her why she steered me to a particular brand, she explained that when I took off my shoe she noted the shape of my foot and steered me to a brand that was cut better for that foot shape. She provided similar advice to my wife. When I asked her which boot she would get if she would only have one pair of boots, she assured me that I would eventually have more than one pair... and I think she might be right. It has taken me three years to get the courage to write this review. We have purchased several pairs of boots from Acredale. Fun store, great employees. Go back three years. My oldest and healthy son went in to cardiac arrest. I was told he would probably die, and if he didn't, he would have brain damage. I sat with him for a month, said goodbye to him at the doors for open heart surgery, and ultimately was overjoyed at the miracle he became. I lived in the hospital with him. No sunlight, no nothing but sitting at his bedside for a month. Two weeks after he came home (I had been taking care of him, raw with emotion and no sleep for a month) my daughter's birthday approached. She wanted boots. We went to her favorite place, Acredale of course. We ended up spending over 200 on them. While there I was trying on boots, still numb from everything that had happened. My son was still wearing a life vest, for heaven's sake. I found a pair of boots I liked and started to take a picture of the tag, knowing my mother wanted to do something special for me after the hell we had all been through. This way she would know what boots to ask for when she came in. As I took the picture the owner (I believe, or the manager) literally YELLED AT ME FROM ACROSS THE STORE to not take pictures. Again, I was emotionally raw and couldn't even respond. What?? Don't take pictures of something so I can show my mother so she can get them? And wait. I am an adult... a good, honest and intelligent person who does not need a strange woman to yell at me in front of an entire store of people. SHE ACTUALLY YELLED AT ME. So as not to spoil my daughter's birthday (again, SHE had been holding her brother's hand as he struggled to live on the vent with a failing heart)... I kept quiet and went to purchase HER boots. The owner (manager?) came to me and said something about an apology but I just can't take a picture of the boot. I was too raw to even tell her the hell I had been through. My feet will never walk through those doors again. To this woman... think next time before you yell at a customer. You don't know what could be going on in his or her life. Oh honey, if you like super pushy sales people that say things like um that's a $1100 boot your holding.....like you can't afford it....then this is the place for you. Bless her heart. I'm sure her mama tried. But honey... where are your manners? One boot was to small and one boot was to big, hence the reason for the exchange I wanted. They gave me a complimentary boot stretch. Yup she sure did. They call over this girl say her foot is smaller than yours and she walks around in your boots and proceeds to tell you, it's you not the boot while you're trying to look for something you can exchange it for. They told me what I liked, what I didn't like, what I could have and what I need not even look at. So sweet of them to know me so well and we had just met. I know it's hard to believe but I just couldn't stand any more of their sweet southern charm. I grabbed my boots and just decided to sell them on line. Got home tried on the boots one more time before posting them and now both boots are to big and flop when I walk. Girl done totally messed up my boots. This ain't my first boot rodeo.... Back when I was an undergraduate at Oklahoma State University, an OSU alumnus by the name of Garth Brooks was changing the face of country music. You couldn't go to a party or bar without hearing "Friends in Low Places" at least five times after No Fences came out. Of course, I wanted to look like Garth Brooks and began wearing the hat, buckle, Wranglers, and boots. I didn't look at all like him but I thought I was cool. Fast forward to present day and lately I have been wanting to get back to my "country" roots a little bit. Not sure the hats, buckles, or Wranglers are in my plans but I knew that I wanted a nice pair of boots. I hadn't owned a pair in probably 15 years and wasn't even sure what I wanted. So, having passed this place every day going to and from work for the last three years, I stopped in to check out their boot selection. Since the place isn't very big, I expected a limited selection but they actually had a very nice display of boots. The selection isn't as varied as a mega-store like a Cavender's or something but what it lacks in overall selection it more than makes up for in personal touch. I didn't have a brand preference and ended up getting a pair of Ariat boots that I am wearing as I type this review and they are unbelievably comfortable. And the price was very reasonable. Also, if they don't have what you want, they can also order almost anything in for you. Besides the boots, they have a good selection of jeans, shirts, belts, hats, and saddles. The staff here are very helpful and friendly. I wish I could remember the name of the girl that helped me with my boots but she had good knowledge of how a boot should fit and helped me pick the right size. We stopped in yesterday and had a great conversation with a couple of guys who were just fans of the store and hanging out. It's just like you would expect from folks who wear boots, hats, and buckles: down to earth and friendly. Just like home! I went into this establishment with the intention of getting sized for my 1st pair of boots. I was greeted at the door with warmth and a genuine smile. The young lady assessed my legs, calves ankles and feet. She then began pulling boots and had me try them on, all the while educating me on 'boot life'. I learned how to use boot pulls to put boots on and a 'wood contraption' to take them off. The other ladles even 'modeled' various boots I liked that they would order if I desired. Best of all was the 'Wish List" where I was able to place my desired objects to pick up at another time. All in All it was an AWESOME EXPERIENCE!
