Sometimes you have to wait 30 min on the phone to get a person if you don't want to leave a message or use the answering service, but that's because they are talking to someone for thirty min or more. Judy literally sat there and answered every question I had, just as sweetly as a human could. I didn't even know what to ask sometimes, but everything was very straightforward. When they give you the final price that's exactly what you pay. You do have to pick up your own ashes if you don't pay for delivery. They are very straightforward, you want to not pay for 5 death certificates, then don't, but know you have that option. They also email back and forth for people who don't want to wait on the phone or talk to people in the phone. read more

When my brother was admitted to Hospice, I contacted aCremation to start making his final arrangements. They were recommended to me by a close friend. I found their service to be reasonably priced, prompt, easy to understand, and easy to access. Because everything is handled online or by phone, there are no appointments to make or traveling involved. I completed all of the paperwork online, at all hours of the day and night. Their prices are plainly listed on their web site, with no additional "hidden" charges. You pay for the basic cremation, any additional death certificates, and overweight charge if the deceased is over 250 lbs. I printed out their "remains release form", and "care cards" and left them with the Hospice staff. When my brother passed, the Hospice contacted them directly and they were there in under an hour. The man arrived dressed in a suit and tie, very professional and compassionate. He completed all of the paperwork required by the hospice, allowed me time with my brother, and took possession of the remains. I was then sent the additional forms required to complete the process online. As they were preparing the remains, they discovered my brother was now under 250 lbs, and refunded me the overweight charge. I was very impressed by their honesty. After all the required forms were completed and they released the remains, it took 3 business days until I could pick up the ashes. My father passed away last month after a long hospital stay, and then hospice care. In addition to our grief, it was a physically and emotionally exhausting journey for our family. We knew we needed to make arrangements, but I couldn't bring myself to do it while trying to spend as much time with him as I could, and take care of my young children, who needed my time and attention. The only call I made was to aCremation. The woman with whom I spoke was so understanding and reassured me they would be there when the time came. When the call came late one night that my father had passed, I called aCremation. The on-call person returned my call within minutes and took all our information over the phone. Even when there was a "miscommunication" by the hospice staff regarding our wishes when he passed, aCremation worked through it quickly and professionally - even waking up the head of the company to get involved. He personally made sure everything was resolved before they arrived, so there was no additional stress for us. With trying to plan the memorial, clean out my father's apartment, and contact family and friends, and my brother being in Dallas, I really appreciated that I didn't have to go in and make arrangements. It was also much more affordable than the other funeral homes I had seen online. That was a huge relief. I highly recommend aCremation and will use them again. I have told my friends and co-workers about how kind they were to our family, and how beautifully and graciously they handled the arrangements during such a sad time for us. They did what they said they would do and in a professional, if removed manner. But after all they are an online cremation service. I Felt like I waited too long for the actual cremation, but that was the hospital and a foot dragging doctor not signing the death certificate, which froze everything until he signed off. Then things moved. All communication that I reminder other than the initial call and payment was by email and I have no complaints with that. My only complaint was I felt that I was over charged for the USPS next day priority delivery of my wife's ashes right here in Houston...from Houston to Houston and a small box for $175 or so as I recall. That would have been fitting for a personal courier but not for the post office. My ex-husband died unexpectedly at home. He was discovered through a welfare check and his body was taken to the coroner. Due to an unexplained snafu, his body was misidentified. Brandy at aCremation did a great job of helping get things sorted out, and walking us through the whole process. They are kind, professional and affordable. As mentioned in a previous review, the communication seems to be better through phone than by email, but they were always responsive. While I obviously hope I don't have to use their services any time soon, I would not hesitate to do so. read more

I had a love one who was recently taken here. This would have been a good experience if they had actually talk to the family. My brother past in August of 2022. One of my siblings took over the burial arrangements and told Acremartion to pick up the body and not allow the rest of the family to view the body...this was not the next of kin. The next of kin is the oldest son. However, Acreamation spoke with the older brother and younger sister and place a veiwing block on the body. Now, I left several messages during the time frame in which the body was still able to be view .....no one from the creamatory called me back. And all the time they knew this order was in place. Basically, the son did not put this order in place...it was the my sibling who did this and left his greiving mother without the option to see his body. I spoke with this facitly numerous times and was told to call a Judy on Monday...I left her a message and she never called me back. I call on September 1, 2022 and she just happen to answer. I explain that I had been waiting on a call back to tell me when I could bring my 77 yr old mother to see her son's body...was told no veiwing will be allowed. This news was very hurtful to my mother. This could have been avoided if they had talked to the deceased son and not his brother and sister in regards to viewing the body..as they said this was their policy. And there should be a requirement to wait at least a few days during the period of pre-creamaton that they wait to see if any other family members call to see the body or if the deceased mother has been contacted for option of viewing. This was a very bad experience because they allowed for a vindictive and jealous of mother love siblings to take away a mother right to see her dead son"s body for closure...she still dont actually know that her son is dead due to this horrible and unthinkable way this was handled by Areamation...dont allow family members to lie about there is no more family ..when in fact this man's under 18 children also did not get to say goodbye to their father...this just brings tears to your eyes. A formal apology would be appropriate from Acreamation but after talking with Judy I think that is unlikely. read more

We spent a small fortune with George Lewis when my father passed away, and I can assure you that our aCremation experience with Mom was superior. I called aCremation for the first time right after she passed away at home. They could not have been more kind, responsive and respectful. They offered to come whenever we were ready. I gave them a time of 6pm, and two delightful gentlemen arrived - dressed in suits - at 6pm sharp. They had a nice, clean vehicle and patiently waited for us to say our final goodbyes. Within 10 minutes, they had her ready to leave. I offered them a tip, and they declined. A brief phone interview put the entire process in motion. They were always accessible, and they kept me apprised of the status of the death certificate and her remains via email. read more

We used aCremation for my mother's cremation - just this week. While the gentlemen that came to pick up her body were very kind and arrived promptly, I have found the follow up support to quite lacking. I have emailed our "counselor" several times with different questions over the course of the last 4 days - and have yet to receive a reply or even an acknowledgement of receipt. I have asked for at least an acknowledgement just so I know my emails are being received - but still get no response. Would rather have used a place that had better support immediately following the passing. read more

My mother passed away in Dec. 2015 and the hospice service recommended aCremation to us. We could not have been more pleased with the experience that we had with them. The undertakers that they sent were so professional and caring, they were not in a rush to do their work and gave my father as much time as he wanted with her. They cried with us, they cared so much. The crematorium that they used, likewise, is very clean and professional, and is pretty much brand new. The gentleman that worked there was also very warm and friendly, and made the task of retrieving my mother's remains as pleasant as such a thing could be. She arranged absolutely everything for me long-distance and even switched to contacting my siblings for pickup when I was unavailable traveling, she always took my calls & emails and was amazing. We used aCremation last year. It feels a little surreal writing a review on a cremation service, but I was desperately looking for reviews a year ago, and thought I would pay it forward so to speak. Their name was given to me on a list of potential cremation providers by the hospital. Most people probably pick aCremation because of the reasonable cost. That wasn't so much of a factor for us. We knew going in we wanted cremation, and that the classic funeral home experience was not something we wanted/needed. aCreamation was as a result pretty perfect for us. Pros 1. After placing the initial call on a weekend holiday, they called right back, even on the holiday. 2. People on the phone were some of the best customer service people I've ever experienced. Compassionate, helpful, patient, can problem solve. They just don't data input. I can't thank them enough for this- as I was dreading making the call. I could barely talk and they got me through it. 3. Very transparent on fees. They don't try and upsell you. They are very direct and upfront about the fees. And, if there is an additional fee given your specific situation or what you want, they are very upfront about it. There were no hidden fees, no surprises on the invoice, etc. 4. Very transparent on the timeline. 5. Used docusign (which I use at work). Thought this was very efficient. Cons 1. They are better via phone then email. I sent a couple of emails after the initial information intake process and and when I didn't get a response, i finally just called them. Your "case" is tracked via a CMS system, so they were able to bring up the status right there and answer my question right away. 2. It isn't really 24/7. It kind is like a doctor's office. If it is after hours/emergency, then there is a special phone number. But, if you are just looking for an update, they aren't at your beck and call, so to speak (I'm not sure a funeral home would be either). 3. They don't provide you with "push" updates. I would have liked update emails every step of the way. (I'm big on communication). If you call, they know exactly where your loved one is, but they don't pro-actively email you. Tips 1. Proof the docs carefully, especially the death certificate. They do a good job of trying to get all the data correct the first time, but you need to review each box before it goes final. 2. Use phone (rather than email), if you need something right away. 3. Take notes when you talk to them. Your brain won't be working well - I wish I had taken more notes, especially on the "what happens next" type of stuff. They tell you, and if you don't write it down, you are likely to forget as soon as you are off the call. 4. Review their website. They have a lot of information on it. 5. My biggest worries before going with them were (1) were they going to treat the body respectfully (2) were the ashes i got back actually who they said it was. I was obsessed about this metal identification tag I read about, did they use it, etc. Ask questions if it is top of mind. What I ended up finding out is that most everyone (funeral homes and cremation companies) outsource the cremations to a couple of crematories around the state. You just need to figure out if you trust that they will do the tracking and monitoring process correctly. That's a judgement call that only you can make. read more
