It's been almost a week since my family and I said our final goodbyes to my father. I couldn't have asked for a better group of individuals to help assist with my dad's service. I don't know where to start because every step of the way leading up to the service was flawless. I would have imagined planning a funeral from Mississippi to Texas would have been a headache but it was the complete opposite. Justin was my point of contact throughout the entire process. He was thorough, patient, and confident. He made sure that after every conversation that I had a clear understanding of the process and everything that I needed for the service. There was not one question left that wasn't answered! And I truly appreciate that because the good Lord knows I had questions lol. Especially being my first time having to plan a funeral for a parent of mine. Even though, Justin was my point of contact. I got a chance to interact with some of the other staff members. Over the phone, I was able to interact with Ms. Tiffany a few times. She has to be one of the sweetest ladies I know! Every time I called, she always had a warm welcome and always ready to point me in the right direction! I love the fact that she always followed up with a phone call to make sure that I had the proper documents and updated me with answers to any questions she might have been unsure about at that given moment. Then there's Mr. Rhan. I didn't meet him until the day before the funeral when I arrived in Texas! He was amazing! Professionalism on 1000. He was patient, compassionate, and attentive to my family and my needs. He made sure to give us anything that we needed from coffee, water, soda, candy, cookies, tissue, etc. He was our guy for sure! He was the same way the day of the funeral. Overall the staff was amazing! There was another guy that helped with the service I briefly spoke with. I didn't catch his name the day of the funeral, he was sweet. I made sure that I was added to his prayer list once the service was over. The establishment in itself was super clean and airy. They didn't have that typical funeral scent ( that was a plus plus plus). They had some amazing paintings that caught my eye. I didn't get a chance to look at all of them but the ones that I did pay attention to were beautiful. Also, Mr.Rhan gave us some pretty cool insight into Mabrie's family legacy and current accomplishments. I'm truly in awe and forever thankful that this experience with Mabrie was amazing! I would like to express my most sincere gratitude to Justin Mabrie, MBA and the entire staff at Mabrie Memorial Mortuary. My precious father, Mr. Willard John Vital, passed on March 24, 2021 and I felt adequately guided and supported throughout the entire process to celebrate his life and lay him in his final resting place. I went through a methodical selection process before choosing Mabrie and I am overjoyed with my selection. I was looking for the following attributes in a funeral home: highly responsive, professional, clean facilities, modern (in terms of technology), compassionate, flexible, meticulous, collaborative, imaginative, Black-Owned, Louisiana Creole (from a cultural standpoint), aware of Catholic service traditions and located in the historic Third Ward community. I was elated that Mabrie Memorial Mortuary checked all of these tick boxes and more . All three services (wake, funeral and second line processional + committal) were exceptional and my father looked like himself; handsome and peaceful. Mabrie's online obituary portal was so helpful and encouraged engagement prior to the services. I honestly do not believe my family would have received so many flowers and gifts without this portal. I appreciated that it allowed for obituary, logistical information, photos, videos and more. I was grateful that Mabrie managed to provide live streaming at all three services and ensured that all of the floral arrangements were beautifully featured at all services. Justin and his team liaised with third party providers (i.e. hospice agency, printing company, musicians, audio/visual providers, media publications, 2 different churches/secretaries/priests, vault company, florists, etc.) on my behalf and always followed up on requests regardless of the time of day. When I look back at the videos and photos, I cry (with tears of joy) because of how Justin Mabrie and his staff guided us through the phases of all 3 services and presented a wonderful bible to my 95 -year old uncle. We never felt rushed at any time during these services and Mabrie followed up on remaining items expeditiously post-services. We give all praises to God, as we celebrated the Life of Mrs. Emmalean (Grammy) Boston Howell in January 7, 2023 at Marbie Memorial Mortuary, in Houston, Texas. We had the best funeral home taking care of our loved one. I felt like I was apart of a family and not just an agency. The Dream Doves were the enlightening ticket to our ceremony. Our "Golden Angel 22" Grammy took her rest with a pillow of golden roses and an entire village that is beyond this world amazing. She has been blessed to be our "Golden Angel 22" who has released the weight of life wrapped around her hands, heart, soul, and the entire village. We thank each and everyone from North Carolina, Texas, and the entire world the TikTok family and friends, the entire village that has served as our inner circle and now forward our earthly doves. I cannot begin to express our gratitude, appreciation and immense respect that my family and I have for the Mabrie staff. After being extremely let down from a previous funeral mortuary, we ran across Mabrie and reached out at the last minute to see if they could conduct our dad's homegoing service for us. In our frustration and vulnerability, Justin went above and beyond to assist us in our time of need. He was attentive, intuitive, knowledgeable, friendly, caring, patient, compassionate and the epitome of professionalism. He explained things in a way in which we could understand. Not only did he make accommodations for a non-traditional service, but he contributed creative ways to enhance our guests' experience. From the coordination, the communication to the actual day of the homegoing, everything was timely and literally perfect. We even received a nice surprise at the end of the service that really made my day. Even after everything was said and done, we were still having issues with the prior funeral home. Justin made himself available to clarify and answer lingering questions we had in order to have more informed conversations with the other funeral home. Not to mention the venue looks like a museum! Every single inch of the mortuary looked and felt like a rich history of Black excellence. Knowing my dad and the way he advocated the Black community, professionalism and quality - Mabrie encompassed all three to the T! Let me start off by saying planning a funeral is a tough time for many famIlies, the emotions surrounding the passing of a loved one makes people overreact and act out of character. The first review left for this amazing team of funeral professionals is disturbing and unwarranted as my family has used their services for not one but two members, my grandmother in June 2019 and uncle in December 2019. Cynthia, Justin and the entire staff took their time and were extremely patient, understanding, helpful and caring in their handling of our services. We had a traditional burial for my grandmother and everything was handled from top to bottom, services went off without a hitch. We had an out of town transport and cremation for my uncle and once more all was handled with stellar service and compassion. The staff dealt with all of our last minute changes and additions with ease and even offered suggestions to make the services run smoother. I cannot speak highly enough of Mabrie's services, they can take care of as much or as little as your family requires and DO NOT nickel and dime you on cost. Pricing was affordable and well worth the level of service provided. Additionally, their mortician is absolutely one of the best in the business. If you are having an open casket viewing, rest assured your loves one will look peaceful to leave a positive final memory. Mabrie has become our family's mortuary and we will be using their services as need arises in the future. I want to thank Justin Mabrie and his staff for the compassion and professionalism shown to me and my sons. Recently my youngest son passed away and I was not prepared but Justin was patient and addressed all my concerns. No one is prepared to bury a child and Justin put together a spray arrangement of flowers fit for a king. I was very proud of his presentation of my son and choice of vocalist to sing his favorite song, Eye on the Sparrow. I will be for ever grateful for the support and dignity shown to my family and deceased son. From the wake to the funeral all the surrounding were comfortable and comforting. Losing a loved one is never easy, especially when you're young. I searched online for a black owned funeral home that could accommodate my large family. I found Mabrie Memorial in the heart of Houston...a place I've passed a million times but didn't know would be visiting in the near future. Having to manage the grief of family and friends, I was at capacity and feeling overwhelmed. The director (Justin Mabrie) held my hand through the entire process from beginning to end. No one wants to feel rushed during this process and the entire staff made sure we felt accommodated and welcomed. Every question and concern I had was addressed and every question I didn't know to ask was answered as well. It was a blessing to stream the service for family members unable to attend due to COVID-19. One thing I've reflected on through this process is that death is inevitable and I would recommend this facility to family/friends and encourage that this place is used when my time comes. read more

I apologize for writing such a late review regarding the service provided for my Mother, Juanita Lawson. It was just....hard. The services Mabrie provided was beautiful, thoughtful and thorough. The way everything was planned dealing with and organizing a large family during the funeral service and coordinating with the VA Houston Cemetery for interment at a later date took the pressure off a heavily grieving family. My only advice to anyone planning a funeral is to know and work within your budget. You can still make your loved one's home-going special and memorable. We were fortunate to be able to do so. February 21, 2022 marks the anniversary of one of the most difficult challenges I have ever had to face in my lifetime. On this day in 2021 my mom Margaret Ann Sampson transitioned to her Forever Home. And like others, I was at a total loss both emotionally and figuratively, being an only child I had little to no instrumental or financial support. My family could not have asked for more in terms of location, service, level of compassion, professionalism, support and beauty for planning our father's memorial service. The decor inside looks like the epitome of black excellence and the staff follows suit, really, truly allowing for a unique service, even offering coffee, tea and refreshments. We came in on Thursday with hopes of creating a non-traditional service on Saturday and they got everything in order in no time, without trying to box us in to a pre-formatted program. Some things we even forgot to clarify, explain or provide in terms of order or service or special touches and they picked right up on important details and were able to direct our guests accordingly. 2019 was a troubling year for myself and family. My grandmother passed away in June, and my Uncle passed away 6 months later on Christmas morning 2019. The people at Mabrie memorial mortuary were there every step of the way. If you have a loved one that transitions into their next life, I really recommend Mabrie. Mabrie went above and beyound of what I expected for my mother's funeral services. Justin was professional from the beginning to the end. He displayed great care and empathy for my family. This was my first time having to handle burial services and I know at times I was not in my right mind at times with so much grief and trying to hold it together for my family.
