I was denied service at 8:03 pm when their website says they close at 9:30 and their open sign was on.

Very disappointing. We got the spanikopita dinner and Greek veggie sandwich. The spanikopita came with their veggies, which amounted to half a small potato, a small stalk of broccoli, a spoonful of rice, and some green beans that looked terrible, as well as a small side salad. The sandwich was a sandwich in name only. It was a salad on top of a piece of pita. The spanikopita wasn't bad, and neither was the salad (sorry, won't call it a sandwich). The side salad looked like it was some lettuce with a banana pepper, a piece of feta, and a slice or two of other vegetables. It might have been good; we didn't find out. We both got fries. On the menu, they were described as Greek seasoned fries. Apparently salt is considered Greek seasoning. Perhaps the meat based entrees are better. read more

I ordered souvlaki. It was very vinegar laden. So was the rice. The hummus was basic. The salad had a minimum of feta. 1 olive and 1 piece of a tomato. I think they can do better. read more

Having enjoyed this delightful hidden gem for more than 40 yrs, I can definitely say it's a fav and we visit often. You will not be disappointed by thus fabulous family tradition. read more

It is the Best Greek Restaurant in Greensboro. It right next to the Baseball Stadium and it is not that busy for most of the time.

I had not eaten there in years. I was surprised at the change. I ordered a lamb dish only to be served beef. Perhaps new management, I don't know. I do know That we won't return. read more

Lunch was great! Good attentive service. Yummy iced tea. We ordered the sampler platter and a Chicken Slouvlaki to share. It was good. Liked the stuffed grape leaves - cool and tart. The feta was delicious on piping hot pita wedges. The Slouvlaki chicken was flavorful and tender. Good atmosphere - good enough prices for lunch. Ordered baklava to go for desert - yummy with a strong cinnamon flavor. read more

This is one of those places that has been around forever and I have no idea how... maybe they own their building and have not had to pay rent in decades because the few times we have gotten food here it has been mediocre at best. I picked up take out for the last time from there last night after being told it would take 25 minutes to get to salads with chicken. So when I got there I figured it would be busy but it was not at all.... a table of four got up and walked out and said "good luck" to me, I realized they had not even been given drinks yet because the table they got up from had the places all set with silverware rolls still rolled up. I was told it would take awhile even though there was a takeout order sitting on the bar all bagged up... a few minutes later they decided that was my food but then they had to figure out how much my salads were. When I got home and opened my takeout bag, finding a long dark hair on top of the takeout containers was an awesome start, especially when you're blond so you know it's not your own. The food was fine, nothing amazing and I'm really not sure what the $4 difference in the medium and large salads were. Sad to not be able to support a local establishment, but it's definitely not amazing. read more

This is the only restaurant where I don't mind dining in an empty room. Maybe this is a preference particular to myself, but It's the kind of place that you feel like you would go to once a week if you were a character on the Sopranos. The food is really solid. All of the souvlakis are great with well prepared meat and flavorful and rich vegetables. A cut above other Greek food I've had in Greensboro. Have always had good service, it's a little laid back in a good way. An overall great place - I'm an aspiring regular. read more

Simply THE BEST! I first visited the Acropolis over 30 years ago. The food was always fantastic but, even more than that, it was the warm, inviting atmosphere that made this place truly incredible. I always remembered being treated as if I were part of the family whenever we were there. I'd been out of the area for many years and recently reached out to them for a custom pastry order. They not only remembered me but, they went WAY above and beyond to accommodate my request. Just can't say enough nice things about them! read more

Lunch - Gryo w/ fries. Being a fan of Greek restaurants, I thought I would try this place out and see if it was any good. I must say that my experience was great. I was greeted with a very friendly welcome and I was literally very much like family. I was by the owner that all of the food is cooked to order and never frozen. The gyro was great. Seasoned well and you tell they they are using fresh, quality ingredients. It is nice to see authentic, family owned restaurants who care about their customers. I must say that I was very impressed and I will be coming back with my wife for dinner. read more

The best and the worst thing about this restaurant was the service. We were a table of five and never once got refilled on drinks without asking. BUT-the fact that the waitress and the older Greek lady, whom I am assuming is the owner, were so unbelievably nice and engaging really made up for it. It was almost like having lunch at a friends house. We are already planning on going back. The portions were just right for lunch and the food was very tasty--and it arrived in a timely fashion. Food is fabulous every time I've been there. I think it's fallen off the radar as a result of all the confusion with the construction that's been going on for some time, but it is truly worth revisiting. On my last visit I had a Greek salad with gyro on it! It was delicious. I ate every bite! My lunchmate had the lentil soup and Spanikopita. He commented several times how fresh and delicious they were. If you've never been. Go! If you haven't been in awhile. go back! Construction is still going on nearby, but it won't impede your enjoyment of the food! read more

I've been to Acropolis several times after being introduced to the restaurant in 2010 by my office's VP. Love the food. Have taken several clients here and staff, as well as friends. Love the food, love the staff. I've had quite a bit of the menu by now and I haven't disliked anything. My hardest decision is usually how to limit myself from picking too many options. This is such a gem to find in downtown Greensboro. read more

Sad to say it was a total disappointment. Took my wife there last night for our 5th wedding anniversary, had the appetizer (our third choice as they were out of the first 2 choices) and left. For claiming to be the PREMIER greek restaurant in Greensboro, I'd have to say false advertising....NO flaming cheese dish, NO kalamaria, NO lamb chops, and my flatware was wrapped in dirty linen. The greek sampler we settled for was by no means fresh made food. Oh well, live and learn. We shan't be returning. read more

Will not be going back here. I was craving a Greek salad and this place was close by. I asked if it was possible to get a side order of hummus and pita bread rather than the full appetizer. The waitress responded with "no you have to order the pita" I didn't know what that meant so I just said never mind and I ordered a small Greek salad and my coworker ordered the soup and mini salad lunch special. It took us 33 minutes to get our food. How long does it take to put a salad together and put soup in a bowl? Upon getting my salad I immediately realized it wasn't worth $6. It had 2 olives, 2 cherry tomatoes, 4 pieces of feta cheese, 1 pepper and half an onion. This is NOT an exaggeration it really had that few of toppings. My coworker's mini Greek salad had the EXACT same number of toppings. So apparently the $3 extra is just for a half cup more lettuce. Then we both finished our food and waited around for our ticket. We ended up just finally going to the front to pay and it was a cluster trying to get our correct tickets. Will never waste my time or money here again. read more

This restaurant was AWFUL!! The staff were rude and incompetent, the drinks I was served were disgusting and the food was so so. The diet coke (from a can) was flat. The sweet tea they replaced it with tasted like dishwater and the gyro meat was obviously overcooked and reheated. Additionally, the staff were less than desirable. I asked the waitress what type of pita they served, i.e. flat, store bought or the nice fluffy pita to which she stared at me blankly and replied, "well, we buy it, but I can't really answer that question." WTF?? So, I had to order a plate of pita with hummus so that I could find out for my own self...no impetus on her behalf to do that. When she brought it I told her that it was the good pita I was hoping for and again she stared at me blankly and said, "well people seem to like it." UGH!! There's a reason she works there I suppose.
