I dined alone a little after 4 PM and was seated right away before the dinner rush, although there were already about 12 to 15 people inside. By the time I left around 6, there were people standing and waiting to be seated. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The patio was open with one couple enjoying the nice weather and relative quiet of outdoors.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Embur recently relocated to Smyres Place in Greensboro and the new space feels much smaller than I expected.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The design reminded me of what I imagine a modern restaurant in Peru might look like. Industrial with solid wood floors, warm finishes, and a large wine display.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are around 25 to 26 tables, mostly two tops and four tops. The largest table seats six, but they will push tables together for larger groups.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] While I was there, a group of more than 20 came in celebrating something and they were seated quickly without disrupting the rest of the room. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The small patio has outdoor seating with about 8 tables and a they have bar area with about nine comfortable seats.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu took me a minute to understand but I ended up liking the setup. You choose your entrée, which comes with set ingredients, and then choose your protein. Each protein has a different price, so you can control the cost of your meal somewhat. Most menu items can also be made gluten free according to the menu, and vegetarian options seem easy to do. For my appetizer, I ordered the flatbread. Perfection. Rosemary, olive oil, sea salt. Crispy outside, soft inside, and so flavorful I almost ate the whole thing before my meal was served. The server came with water right away and remain attentive but not intrusive the whole time. For my entree, I ordered the Arroz Chaufa with salmon. Arroz Chaufa literally means fried rice. At first the dish seemed a bit salty to me, but once I added the green sauce that comes with it (served on the side), everything balanced out. The green sauce has very mild heat, so if you are not a fan of spicy food, that is the one I would recommend. There is a list of sauces so I assume you can customize your entree. According to my server, the other sauces bring more heat. The salmon was excellent, well seasoned but not too much, and moist. The portion was ample. I was very hungry but I had leftovers to bring home. Service was exactly what I want when dining alone. Attentive without being intrusive. I watched Netflix while I ate and enjoyed my meal without feeling rushed or bothered. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The noise level is average for a busy small restaurant. Comfortable enough to relax, but if you want to talk to someone in your group a couple of seats away, you will need your outside voice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This place feels upscale without being fussy, so expected to pay more than average, but I thought it was good value for the quality and portions. I loved this restaurant and will absolutely go back. Must order: Rosemary flatbread appetizer. Tip: Ask about sauce heat before ordering. Embur was a great experience! Three of us grabbed lunch today and this was my first time trying it! I got the chicken empanada, house salad, and Ronda Caliente. The salad was light and refreshing with an amazing vinaigrette. The empanada was baked and filled with flavorful chicken. The waiter brought us an array of sauces. I loved the pico, the green sauce, the yellow sauce and the chimi churri. The Ronda Caliente was delicious. It comes with skewers of shrimp, salmon, chicken, and beef. The hallmark of great restaurants in my opinion is consistency and Embur has never disappointed us. We enjoyed dinner with friends and once again Embur delivered a tasty meal. The ladies both had arroz chaufa, one with chicken and one vegetarian. The roasted quinoa on the vegetarian really framed all the other flavors extremely well. That was a highlight. My friend had the skirt steak which was presented as ordered, a perfect medium rare. I went traditional and had a half rotisserie chicken and I opted for the black beans and rice as a side. What I love about the Peruvian chicken is how all the seasoning is infused in the meat and not just imbedded in the skin. Even the white meat is juicy and loaded with flavor. Peruvian spices are not hot or overpowering. I would say it leans more toward a Greek/Mediterranean profile. Service was attentive and friendly. We sat outside which was incredible comfortable. The young lady who waited on my husband and I was very accommodating, friendly, and patient with us being this was our first visit. Everything we ordered was delicious! My husband is Puerto Rican(I never had ceviche until I met him so he's my teacher when it comes to ceviche) and he said that was the best ceviche he has ever eaten. I ordered the skewers from the appetizers. We were served chicken, salmon, shrimp, and steak with 2 roasted wedges of potatoes! If I didn't share with my husband this could be an entree alone. I also ordered the calamari and shrimp rice! The calamari was overcooked and had a rubbery texture to them but the rice and shrimp made up for that flaw. The rice was firm and tender, fresh veggies were incorporated into the rice along with chargrilled shrimp!! Yum!!! I thought the sauce that was served with my rice fell flat in comparison to the flavor over the rice. I asked if they possibly had a sriracha type sauce. Our waitress suggested their red sauce and it complimented the rice perfectly. We ended up ordering the house bread which was like a pizza oven flatbread. We had infused olive oils to drizzle on top. We started with Fornarina - flat bread with pepper-infused and rosemary-infused olive oil. L got Arroz Chaufa - stir fried jasmine rice, green beans, cabbage, peppers, zuchinni, bean sprouts, egg, and chicken. She definitely got the best dish of the three of us. J got 1/4 dark meat Pollo A La Brasa - Peruvian wood charcoal-grilled rotisserie chicken and black beans and rice. I do not see myself going back to this restaurant. Before, was always curious to see how their food is since we do normally see a lot of cars there on the weekends. The food, very bland and hard for me to say it's close to anything authentic. Very watered down and lacking of flavors. The chicken: the dark meat was good but absolutely would not recommend getting the white meat - very dry. Even asking for any sauce to go with it, it was very watered down and server didn't even explain what it was, just dropped it down and walked away. A couple of visits, I wanted to try their pizza since it did look good being served to others, and you notice the large brick oven from entrance. Both times I tried to order, they said they were out of pizzas AND sandwiches - which is literally half the menu. This wasn't even told first hand, only after we tried to order, so now there's more time wasting and fumbling around what to order, trying to find a backup option (and other options do not sound great). To make things worse, as we were leaving, I noticed a pizza being served and right in front of our faces too, can't make this up. The service was pretty much not welcoming and non-existent. First of all sorry about not having any pictures but my wife and I got here about 1:30 for lunch and we were so hungry we dove right into the food. I must say first of all that the service was not very good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We waited a few minutes probably 5 to be seated there were many tables open and the place was pretty dirty.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were seated and brought some water but never asked if we wanted anything else to drink and finally the waiter asked if we wanted something else and my wife asked if there was a drink menu and then he pursueded to ask if she wanted one and it was kind of like well yeah that's why we asked. We split a half Peruvian chicken with a side of yucca fries. I will say that the flavor of the chicken was very good but the chicken breast was very dry and the yucca fries were very crispy on the outside but kind of rubbery on the inside. We also noticed that the waiter was cleaning tables and then without washing his hands went to the kitchen and picked up a plate and wrapped his thumb around the edge of the plate and then delivered it to a table and at one point he was taking order from a table and was sitting on the table next to it. He also complained to us about the restaurant being too busy. They only have a 94 rating and I guess I can see why. I don't think we will be back and it's a shame because we have many people that have told us the absolutely love this place. read more

We've been coming to Emburs for years. Very nice restaurant but not for parties larger than 6 if you want to get seated on a weekend. Nice bar area has seating for dinner as well. Bar is solely for sitting, no room to stand. The restaurant can get quite loud due to the way it's built if it's busy, so don't plan to come if you want an intimate experience. Service is always top notch and the servers help each other, which every restaurant should do. This night I ordered the arroz-chaufa with calamari and shrimp with Peruvian vegetables. This dish hits it on all fronts, full of wonderful flavors imparted by the seafood and the combo of the Peruvian veggies. They are perfect and I usually get another side; bean sprouts, peppers and onions and Napa cabbage. The rice is also well cooked and a good quality. The dish came out hot as usual. The black beans are better than you would get at a Mexican restaurant. A nice add on. They have special oils on request. We tried the herb and garlic one, delicious.
