It continues to be a favorite spot for camping trips multiple times a year, but hot dang you have to book FAR in advance to get a site! I believe they allow you to book up to 11 months in advance, which seems crazy but trust me when I say you need to, especially for weekend or holiday dates. We camp with both an RV and tents, and are always in search of sites with electric as an option. My favorite is around the #89-92 area, but honestly you can't go wrong with most all of the sites. The grounds are extremely well-kept, and it's a delight to be tucked into the forest of trees. Tons of walking paths wind around this park too, including the beautiful dunes. Great to explore in all seasons. Various trails lead straight to Lake Michigan, where you'll find the sprawling beach of white sand. In the warm months, it's great to swim, and in the cooler months the beach is flat enough to take a nice long walk on or simply enjoy the ocean-like views. Other pros: plenty of parking for single-day visitors, a huge playground alongside the beach entrance, firewood and ice on site, an 'amphitheatre' area where events like weddings can be hosted, and it's very dog-friendly. Kohler-Andre State Park: Originally named just Terry Andre State Park when it opened in the late…read more1920s, the park became Kohler-Andrae State Park in 1966 following a donation from the Kohler Company. The park is in the Town of Wilson, which is just south of Sheboygan. It features a plethora of wildlife, numerous campsites, the Sanderling Nature Center, majestic sand dunes, over two miles of golden beaches along the cool waters of Lake Michigan, The Black River Marsh Boardwalk, and whispering pines. My favorite part was the miles of hiking trails through the sandy dunes. A show titles "Wildlife of Wisconsin" was also neat in the Sanderling Nature Center. The presenter shared some interesting stories and also brought along some live animals, such as baby possums, falcon, and barn owl. It can be a little chillier in the park because of its proximity to Lake Michigan and the wetlands can cause an increase in mosquitos, so plan accordingly. Overall, it's a nice park within short driving distance of Milwaukee.

Less than an hour from Milwaukee, this is a great beach in Sheboygan. There is a smallish little parking lot with easy access to the beach area. There is plenty of room for people to sprawl out in the fine sand and take a dip in Lake Michigan. The water is extremely cold, but felt very nice on this super hot day. We were able to walk out pretty far until our legs numbed and we couldn't go out any further. The beach area is very clean and well manicured and free of all the crappy weeds and other lake stuff. The sand is the nice refined sand. Surprisingly there is no trash laying around. At least not where we were. Right by the resort and the other side is a power plant. Up the way, there is a nice park, a pavillion and a playground. Great beach and park area and a great way to spend the afternoon.

We had been in discussions with this dealership to trade in our used bass boat (motor and trailer included, fully operable). After going back and forth remotely on trade-in value -- sharing photos they raised no questions or concerns about -- we agreed on a price. We then visited the dealership twice in person to make sure the boat and the deal were the right fit for our family. On what was supposed to be our final visit to close the deal, we signed an agreement based on the value we'd settled on and filled out a credit application to finance the remaining balance. The dealership ran a hard credit pull that same evening. Only afterward did we find out the deal wouldn't actually close that day -- we'd need to make the long drive back out a second time, despite the dealership knowing how far we'd already traveled to get this done. The next morning, we learned our boat's value had been cut by more than half. Their inspection nitpicked ordinary wear on a 20-year-old boat to justify gutting the trade-in price -- after they'd already seen the photos, already had our signatures, and already pulled our credit. To be clear about the order of events: they ran our credit after we signed based on one agreed number, then tried to push us into financing significantly more after the fact. That's not a legitimate inspection process -- that's a bait-and-switch. When we raised concerns, the sales manager was dismissive, with the kind of sleazy, high-pressure sales attitude that confirmed we'd made the right call walking away. The GM tried to get ahold of the situation but you could tell he didn't want to deal with this headache on a Friday. Lessons learned: get every valuation in writing, don't sign anything until the trade-in number is truly final, and don't let anyone pull your credit until you're sure the deal is real. We won't be buying our next boat here, and I'd encourage other families to think carefully before doing business with this dealership.

No fish for the first hour or two, but David is so knowledgable about Lake Michigan and the Sheboygan area, we learned a ton. And suddenly, we had a hit! Nothing gets your blood pumping like taking the rod in your hands and wrangling with a huge coho salmon. What an experience! We ended the day with three beautiful fish and a slight sunburn (bring sunscreen). The best part? David and crew clean and filet the fish on the dock! We went home with dinner ready to cook.
