The owner called out my name and brought the food directly to me. Great guy and will definitely go back! The cons: The set up is very clunky and tight. The comic book/superhero themed restaurant towards the front is decorated with comic book graphics. There are comic books stacked on every table. Towards the back is a bar. The food was okay. The portion size is nice and big. The veggie burger ($8) with pepper jack cheese ($1 more) was filling. I ordered the honey Hennessy sauce ($2 more) with it which was good. It wasn't spectacular. I think mustard would been just alright. The happy hour ($5) 16oz rum with orange cream was refreshing. If you want to come and take it the comic book vibe, this is a great place to visit. Great concept, terrible execution. We ordered food here to go, they left out like half the order. We should have checked the bag before we left. I told my boyfriend to go back and complain but after reading reviews, I guess that wouldn't get us anywhere. So we ate the cost...can't say the same for the food though, the food we did get, was inedible. Cold chicken, etc. This would be a great concept and amazing place to have in the neighborhood if it was executed correctly, but this place needs a lot of work. Not many places to sit inside, the games seemed to work but there's not many. As far as Covid-19 goes, it's a small space, not much social distancing going on and the tables/games didn't appear to be wiped down after use. What a unique, down-to-Earth place. About a year and a half ago a guy was giving out menus for this place under the J train and it remained in the back of my mind, even though I was living in Harlem at the time. Fast forward to now, I'm living within walking distance of this place and my boyfriend and I went to check it out this evening. I was skeptical of the food selection, but I ordered some kind of burger on a pretzel bun and it was really good! I was super surprised at the huge number (literally thousands!) of games to choose from, and while I never played video games much in my life and I'm terrible at them, we had a fun couple hours playing games. It got quite loud inside between the music, movies, and games, but it didn't really bother me since I was occupied with the games I was playing. Honestly, this appears to just be the manifestation of the owner's dream, which I find to be quite endearing. You can tell somebody LOVES video games and just wanted to make a cool space where people can play for free and eat random junk food. The GameCube table kept me and my friends super entertained for the entire three hours we were there, and the giant tower of gamer booze was the best way to kick off that night of partying!! Staff were insanely sweet, checked up on his really often, and even gave us some complimentary stuff later on!! The food is the only hangup here; we opted for the greasy stuff and though we were not disappointed by the level of grease, it also made it hard to finish out meals.. I mean I can't blame them because I did order a mac'n'cheese cheeseburger, but I also feel like it could be scaled back 20% in greasiness or size. This is primarily a bar and restaurant, coupled with a pretty substantive gaming center in the front. The space is not very big, but we had a great experience and felt it was a great value. Came here on a weeknight for a Halo LAN party and "Mr Carter" hooked us up. We connected 3 Xboxes (combination of two originals and one 360) and played the original Halo 1 with 12 people from around 7pm to 11pm. Time flew by, we yelled and taunted each other, had a great time, and it only cost us about $100 for the whole night, or about $10 per person. Let me qualify this review by saying that we did not eat any of the food; the manager let us bring in our own food and gave us tables upon which to eat. The drinks were pretty standard, beers and some basic well drinks, but I saw Mr Carter making milkshakes every night. In my efforts to make a contribution to my fellow black owned businesses, I stumbled upon your restaurant Action Burger. My fiancé and I decided to come check it out. First and foremost the cashier, Vlane, he did not make us feel welcomed. We were rushed to place our order, after he gave a review of our order I requested to add lettuce and tomato to my burger, he advised me he would have to go back to make that change in which he pretty much made it seem like it was an issue. Therefore we did not get the lettuce and tomato added, even though its listed as a free add on he couldn't even communicate it verbally to the chef. As we proceeded to payment I was getting ready to hand him my debit card, and he says the card system is down. In that moment I heavily considered leaving without purchasing the food because he should have informed us of that from the beginning of the conversation. Then I said to myself you came here to support so just do what you came to do, luckily I had the cash on hand. As we waited in the dining area for about one minute he then informed us he has to close the door because they are no longer accepting orders. We were told to wait inside or outside in this case it wasn't what he said but how he said it. Finally down to the food, we both got a pretzel bun and the top of the bun was hard like a rock as if it was microwaved. YES to action burger. They have video games, TVs everywhere with great content, and great ambiance. It truly doesn't feel like you're in the city. You can tell the owner put their love tof videogames and comics into this restaurant. It is so unique and so gratifying seeing someone's passion come to life. To everyone who is complaining about this establishment, I think it is really easy to tear down someone else's hard work through the internet by venting your frustrations. It makes me sad to think that someone put their heart and soul into making this restaurant and a few bad orders highlight the experience. The food we got took some time, but it was GOOD! The action sauce was amazing, we got more than enough food to take home and reheat later (it's just as good). You truly can't go wrong with this place. They have an extensive menu that has creativity and you can truly indulge yourself here. I can personally vouch for the Bio-combo, chicken & waffle sandwich, mystery tots, cheese-utopia burger. This place is a magical little hole-in-the-wall example of the kind of spot that gives hope that NY can still be "cool" amidst the influx of Five Guys and Dunkin. My husband and I usually go out for dinner on Friday nights, so we decided that Action Burger would be the next spot to try out. The moment you get to the place it looks run-down. It's kind of tight, as the entryway is a bit small and there are tables super close to the entrance. Each table has consoles and tv's, which is cool, but the place just looks messy. I'm thinking maybe it's supposed to resemble a teenage boys room? Yeah, no. We're standing around waiting for someone to tend to us. In enters one of the restaurant staff. He looks at us and says "you can sit anywhere. You paying card or cash?" Pretty odd greeting, no? I say "card". Maybe "cash" would've been the magic word because dude points to a screen, hands us 2 menus and says "you could order at the computer", and walks away to sit at the bar with a girl to eat and watch whatever movie he had on. I'm pretty sure it was obvious that this was our first time there. I go over to the computer. My husband wanted the Man n Cheese bacon burger. Tap the computer, some of the icons that should display items are Grey squares, no pictures. Tap the burger tab, 3 options come up; classic, villains and good guys. I wanted a veggie burger but wanted to add the mac n cheese to mine. Nothing but Grey squares as if the system was not working. It's pretty much a "build-a-burger" concept, as there are tabs with prices for everything, but I didn't see an option to get the burger I wanted my way. Searched for the burger that my husband wanted and it was not on the screen menu. All the while, the worker never stopped watching his movie to say "hey, do you need assistance? Would you like some suggestions?" Customer service just sucked. We walked out super disappointed and ended up going to our regular Friday night spot. Action Burger can be great if they cleaned up the joint and hired workers that are fun and have customer service skills. I brought my friend here last night for her bachelorette party and we all loved it! When my friend first saw it from the outside, she was a bit disappointed because it seems like a hole in the wall. But don't judge a book by it's cover because this place has the best burgers and Margaritas we've ever had. The owner is a cool dude who attended us like we were celebrities and the atmosphere was fun and welcoming. I got tipsy on the "Bio-Sapiens" (Margaritas) and ended up having a blast playing "Just Dance" by myself and then with a complete stranger, lol. Another great thing about "Action Burger" is that it has After-Hour Open Bar for $30 on the weekends after 11 am. Unfortunately, we didn't stay that long because the bride-to-be wanted to go dancing but I swear to God that she ended up saying later on that night that she had wished we had stayed the whole night there. The only thing that might bother some people is that there really isn't someone to take your order. You have to go order at the cashier yourself and then wait for your order, although somebody does bring it to your table. It didn't matter to me but just a fair warning to anybody who might come with a big group, make sure to bring a pen and paper (The owner did provide one to us so it's no big deal). The owner argued with seamless refused to refund and said would only give a 5 dollar discount, lied and said they weren't able to adjust delivery time estimates however I worked at a restaurant I know that's a lie you're able to do up to two hours for a delivery at which people have the option to cancel the order. I wasted my money on cold low quality food and the owner is probably clinging to my cash because he knows this shitshow of a business is going to flop Update: the owners rude response says it all! Just got my delivery from here; it arrived 10 min early which was nice- and the only reason this place is getting 2 stars. My mozzarella sticks are basically frozen, seems like they heat them up for a total of 2 min and thought they were fine. Marinara sauce is ACTUALLY bad, it's bitter and smells disgusting. **BEWARE** Any negative reviews on this restaurant's Yelp or Facebook page will unleash a torrent of nasty, immature, and hateful comments directed at you from the managers and their friends. That being said, Action Burger used to be great, but the quality of the food they put out has gone downhill and their customer service skills are also severely lacking. The Food: We ordered a chicken and waffle sandwich, come to find out that they'd run out of chicken (more on this later). We opted to replace that particular item with their new specialty Honey Hennessey Burger. The description on their website sounded promising, but the burger we received was soggy and was missing half of its toppings (Lettuce, tomato, and pickle to be specific). We also ordered two milkshakes (one Captain Crunch and the other Strawberry Shortcake), and we were sent a Chocolate Mint shake instead of the Captain Crunch one, which ended up being fine because my husband still enjoyed it. The biggest issue came from the $22 Super Mac and Cheese Burger Platter, which was quite clearly made using low quality, store-bought, boxed mac and cheese. The order I received was also incorrect. They gave me chicken instead of the hamburger, which I would like to add that there was more than enough chicken in the mac and cheese to make the sandwich I had ordered. Despite all this, the mac and cheese wouldn't have been entirely awful, except it was congealed and the chicken was sinewy. To top off this delightful encounter, the restaurant and its management refused to take accountability for their mistakes and fought back when I requested a refund on the mac and cheese which I opted to send back. It's worth noting that the manager of this establishment is rude and argumentative. So I highly recommend that you avoid this place for your own sanity. And to reiterate what I said above, please be careful when it comes to posting negative reviews of this restaurant online because the manager and a bunch of his friends will find you and harass you incessantly. But regardless of the insults I've received and incessant harassment I've endured, I stand by what I've said here and elsewhere. And I refuse to take my review down (which is clearly their endgame). I will never eat at or order from this establishment again. Not because of the food, because some of it is good. But because of the management. I'm am so disappointed by the meal that I had yesterday. My husband and I loved Action Burger pre-COVID, however, the quality of the food slacked significantly. My Honey Hennessy burger had curry in it (I don't know if this is a new addition to the burger but I don't like it). My husband's chicken nachos looked as if someone ordered it before him and they just decided to give him the order (the chicken was dry and the cheese was dry). The reason why I gave 2 stars is because the drinks were really good (I had the henny colada with ice cream and my husband had the cotton candy slushee). I also enjoyed the onion rings. Where else have you ever been able to play the Mortal Kombat II and Street Fighter arcade games for FREE, along with over a hundred other games, while you wait for your deliciously greasy meal of burgers, shakes and other fried goodness? The answer is nowhere. That I know of. Or nowhere as awesome as this. In addition to those two classics, they also have one of those great arcade cabinets that has a ton of games to choose from, including classics like Bubble Bobble, WWF WrestleFest, Arkanoid, Rampage, and too many more to name. Not only that, but they also have a joint NES/Super NES console with even more games. And this is primarily a restaurant, and not an arcade. If video games aren't your thing, they also have a stack of classic comic books at every table for your reading pleasure, as well a bunch of nostalgia-inducing toys and posters all over the place. As if all of this wasn't enough going on, there are two HD TVs on opposite walls of the place playing movies. As if all of this wasn't already enough of a fat kid's dream, we didn't even begin to talk about the food yet. Once you get your bearings from the plethora of entertainment options, you will get overwhelmed once again when you take a look at the food menu. The menu is enormous, with so many different options it's impossible to decide. To make matters more confusing, they have stuff categorized as "Super Villains" and "Super Heroes", which is fun, but random. They have wraps, salads and rice plates, but it's all about the greasy burgers and sides. We tried the Super Action Burger ($6) and the Pretzel Burger ($12). At just $6, that's a bargain for this very tasty burger. Apparently just a regular Action Burger is a burger with 12 different spices, while a "Super" Action Burger has 25 spices. I didn't count, but the patty did taste really good, with a ton of flavor from all that seasoning. It's definitely a smallish patty, so you should load it up with a bunch of toppings. Or, just get the Pretzel Burger, which was ridiculously intense - this burger is loaded with bacon, cheddar, pepper jack cheese, tomato, pickle, lettuce, an onion ring, and spicy mayo, on a pretzel bun. I'm out of breath just saying the ingredients, just like the way I felt after eating it. The bun was a little crunchy on the bottom, which I don't like for a pretzel bun, but the burger was still pretty tasty. There are too many good sides and starters to choose from too, so you should get some to go with the burgers. We tried the Fresh Cut Fries ($3), which were actually pretty bad, so skip those, as well as the Sweet Potato Tots ($5), which were much better. They also have ice cream sandwiches and other desserts, in addition to shakes, which you can get with alcohol in them as well. I tried the Cupcake Kid Shake ($7), which consisted of Oreos, Chocolate Ice Cream, Syrup and Chocolate Cupcakes, and was pretty good, though not as sweet and amazing as it sounds like it should be. This place is literally 6 blocks away, and could've been walked over faster than they estimated. Obviously upset, I decide to go pick up the order myself as the guy on the phone says it will be free and that he'll cancel the order on Seamless. When I arrived he goes on about how Seamless is a problem and they sometimes receive multiples of the same order. B.S. (and totally unrelated to his "bike problem") Also, he suggested that I should be the one who calls Seamless to cancel the order, since he's busy. So order in hand, I go home with my food. Burgers are greasy, which would normally be fine if they weren't barely wrapped in a single piece of wax paper, falling apart and looking unappealing. Even the fries were just wrapped up in a wax paper ball. (see the photos I've added) The food was lukewarm (which was not surprising since it had been 90 minutes at this point since my order, who knows at what point it was actually made in that span). On top of that, the order wasn't even right. My burger was missing some of the toppings that they charge extra for, and instead of an order of onion rings I got two onion rings and some mozzarella sticks. The fries were steak fries, so soggy and not hot. A complete disregard for customer service, and an equal lack of care in preparing or packaging the food, means this place doesn't deserve your business. read more

I'll be honest, I didn't expect much but my burger was pretty darn fantastic. I got the double super action burger with Swiss cheese, pineapples and chipotle mayo. This burger was a sloppy mess and I enjoyed every damn minute of it. The meat was cooked nicely and was flavored as promised by the menu (25 seasonings). It was large, I needed to take my time to finish it (which means its worth the cash). Certainly the best burger I have had in some months. Despite the burger, their garlic fries were a fail. This place was a bit of a oddity for me. Based on the reviews I thought the food came second to the games, but I feel that it is the opposite. Its neighborhood eatery that caters to gaming only in hindsight. They offer 3 free arcade machines and console games in the back. I'm not sure about the consoles since people were seated in that area. It would have been weird to ask them to move. I get the feeling that regulars have a better grasp on the gaming situation, but that's my take on it. I liked the burger, but I'm not sold on it being a haven for games just yet. I was on my way with my dear olé mom to have a late night burger to White Castles when we saw the sign, "Action Burger"! Curious we had to check it out. You smell the fresh scent of grilled burgers and yes it was so time to walk in. The Decor: A nifty place filled with comic book covers on the walls and books to read while you wait or while you eat. Comic books on the table tops. Action figures embedded in the walls along with great flat panel TVs to enjoy and just a really cool dive with great people. :) The Service: Service is pleasant and with a smile. A very nice guy helps me and my dear olé mom choose our burgers. Makes great recommendations and nails it awesomely! Offers the free video games and it was waaaay cool to play street fighter arcade style! The Food: Had the Taradon Burger on the Villan menu and it was kick ass incredible!! Two grilled burgers seasoned perfectly, bacon, onions, spicy guacamole, mayonnaise, crispy chicken too on a beautiful roll. Huge and serious burger for the meat lovers inside us. I loved it! My mom had a regular burger with cheese, onions, lettuce and tomato and she absolutely loved it! Super cool place! My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place (hehe, we had just come from Brick Bar and were looking for drunk eats) on a Saturday night and it was surprisingly empty, which is great because it's a small little place with a great setup. There's a few arcade games in the back, including TETRIS, a TV above the bar with a console hooked up, and then the rest of the TVs are up front. Even SNES mini and Playstation mini. The burgers were a little slow to come out, but hot and fresh. There seem to be a lot of rules attached at each station for what could be free-played and what you had to sign up for, but there were only a few others, no line or wait, so we sat at a console and played whatever. The owner even passed out free pina colada shots. I would love to bring my cousins here one day; I just feel like a place of this size means a coin flip to whether or not it will be busy! My boyfriend and I came in on Halloween night when it felt like every other suggested eatery incited a 'meh' or a flat 'no'. Action Burger had its odds stacked against them - we were grumpy diners even before we stepped in. Then we saw the vintage game machines that little costumed kids were playing for free. We saw the comic books resting at the edge of each table. We noticed Despicable Me was playing on two HD tv screens - WITH sound (because nothing sucks more than feeling deaf while watching a good movie in a restaurant because the manager decided you don't need to hear what's going on). And last but not least, we opened the menu and gasped at all of the burger options we never knew existed but was now made available for our noshing pleasure. We didn't stand a chance; we were smiling within minutes. The boyfriend jumped over to play Street Fighter as soon as he placed his order, and hopped back on it as soon as the last bite went into his mouth (I now know how moms of young gamers feel). It wasn't because the food wasn't fantastic - they delivered it to our table even though we were three steps away from the counter. My guy seemed happy with his chicken wrap but stared wistfully at my loaded veggie burger...and when a carnivore is eyeing your vegan sandwich, I think that's saying something. I ordered tater tots last minute instead of my usual fries and didn't regret it for a second. I don't care if they look and feel just like the supermarket brand I get at home and bake up in my toaster oven - they were hot, fantastic, and totally hit the spot. At this point, their five stars were already sealed to go, but THEN they started coming around with free samples of a Captain Crunch milkshake (a recipe they're trying out, the guy with the loaded tray explained), and some free shots of their Long Island Iced Tea. Believe it or not, if you come here late at night, they offer bottomless Long Island Iced Teas. So heads up - the prospect of playing drunk Super Mario awaits you here. Cool spot! My gf brought me here for my b-day weekend and we had a great time. There's arcade style games, classic games like Resident Evil & Halo. I believe there was some karaoke too. The burgers were good, food took a while, but it was a cool atmosphere, especially if you're a gamer! read more

This review has been long overdue, and I really owe it to Action Burger to leave them an amazing review. A little nook and cranny place in Williamsburg, this place is a dream for anyone who's looking for an (above average) burger, and some throw back arcade style games. The games are free to play as long as you're a paying patron, and there are classic board games such as chess, monopoly, and battleship to keep you entertained at your table. There are also comic strips displayed under the surface of the tables, and movies playing from two tv's mounted on the wall. I for a while was stuck on ordering the turkey burger; it's so juicy it literally drips when you bite into it. My boyfriend couldn't resist the Mac and cheese burger, and the first time I gave it a try I knew it would be my new favorite. A burger layered with bacon and Mac and cheese???? It's soooo good. A little pricier than the avg burger ($8 vs. $13), but it's worth it if you're hungry. The weekends are way busier as expected, but they're open late so you can be sure to get a good meal and a chance to play the games. PS. try the Mac and cheese bites!!! read more

Been here twice over the years and wow, I had to make note of the poor food quality, dirty restaurant. We waited for 20 minutes and there were no other customers there. Food came out soggy, room temperature and inedible even though we went straight to our car with the food to eat.
