Ube Soft Serve with Cooking Topping
Carina H.

I stopped by because some strangers at a nearby vintage store suggested it. The Ube Soft Serve, ordered with a cookie topping, was really creamy. The flavor was rich, and I can still taste it in my mouth when I think about it. The cookie was crunchy and good, but I wouldn't say that it stood out to me as much as the soft serve. Since there wasn't a line, service was quick. Unlike a lot of bakeries, this bakery has tables for you to stay and eat your food. Around dinnertime on a Saturday evening, it wasn't crowded and was quiet. There's both baked goods and ready, prepped food.

Soy Sauce ice cream

TLDR: great ice cream and awesome staff I dropped by to look around the spot after dinner. Most of the baked goods were sold out when I arrived, which I think is a great sign for a bakery. I chatted with the staff for a few minutes about the popular items of the bakery and was about to walk out when I spotted the soft serve menu. Matcha and soy sauce ice cream. The 3 staff members were adamant about how great the soy sauce was and gave me a heaping spoonful as a sample. It was delicious - probably one of my favorite flavors this year. Matcha is a constant flavor but the second rotates between soy sauce, yuzu, ube, and others. I'll definitely come back for the soft serve and to try the baked goods earlier in the day. Thanks to the staff for making it great!

So happy to have a Takahachi location in Bushwick. I'm familiar with the store from the Tribeca location. This visit I had the beef curry filled pastry and the katsu sando. Both were excellent. I also love the unique danishes and breakfast pastries. I'll definitely be back to try the matcha soft serve too. Welcome to Bushwick, Takahachi! Also appreciate the customer restroom and cold water especially on a hot day.

Beef curry bun

Takahachi is such a great addition to the area! I usually come to the area every Friday and every Friday I make sure to get a beef curry bun. The bun itself is so soft and pairs so well with the beef curry, it's airy and just melts in your mouth. I also enjoy their rotating soft serve (from what I've seen it rotates between combinations of miso, matcha, ube, yuzu), shortbread cookies, karaage, and many of their other pastries. The staff is super nice and the prices are great. I look forward to stopping in each week!

Fried shrimp curry sandwich

Had my eye on this place ever since coming back from Japan and having suffering from severe withdrawals. As soon as you walk in, you are immediately presented with a case full of freshly baked pastries and the counter. The workers were very nice and welcoming. I picked out 2 half sandwiches from the fridge - egg salad and fried shrimp curry sauce. The egg salad was sooooooo good. Very creamy and had a good ratio of bread to egg salad. The curry sauce on the shrimp sandwich was yummy too. It was crunchy because of the veggies and tempura but chewy because of the soft bread. I'd have to go back to try their pastries and see if they sell hot food plates of chicken and rice with their curry sauce!

half egg salad sandwich, iced honey yuzu tea and free bread that comes with miso soup

Love this new location! It's located conveniently near the Jefferson L stop and a great addition to the area. Everything is well spaced out by station (baked goods, cold sandwiches/food, hot foods, etc.) and there's lots of space to quickly eat. Perfect place for grab and go type food, which is what I feel most cafes need more of. Amazing variety! I want to try everything here. I ended up with a half egg salad sandwich (love that they offer halves here), miso soup, iced honey yuzu tea, and some free bread the miso soup came with. All great and fresh. Looking forward to coming back and trying more of their pastries and hot food!

I love this place. The quality of the food is similar to the bakeries in Japan. I would love to try all their breads. They have good variety and the quality is top notch. I tried these items: - Hot dog bun - Okonomiyaki tuna bun - Beef curry bun - Beef croquette - Spicy Chicken All of them get a 5/5. My favorite is the beef croquette because it comes with a Worcestershire sauce and the meat/potato ratio is great. But all of them would satiate me as a snack or small meal. Got to be back to try the rest of menu. Hope they open a bakery close to me. cheers

Self serve savory and sweet pastries as well as cooked Japanese food to go
Yaqi Y.

Would highly recommend this spot for a quick bite especially in the morning before work. Everything is reasonably priced and convenient as it's mostly self service. The staff are friendly and the place is clean and great ambiance. The pastries were flavorful, the chicken was moist but could use a little more seasoning.

There's the main seating area and then two offshoot lounges, which aren't quite as cozy but offer different levels of quiet and ambience. I love all the random décor, antique signs, old arcade games as tables, a million lamps. It's like what nook is going for but you can actually sit down on a comfy couch most of the time. The guy working the counter has a lot of energy and clearly loves being there. The PB banana smoothie was yummy, very thick so could use a spoon. Mushroom toast was a bit pricey but you did get a lot of food for your money, the focaccia was crunchier than expected but all around a nice cafe bite. I just appreciate how this is such a gathering spot where you can watch bk life play out while working, it had a different energy from a lot of places in the area.

You've really went downhill. Everything is dreadfully smaller for the same price. You used to have a giant fluffy egg square on your breakfast sandwich and now I've gotten one lumpy small egg drenched in so much overly spicy sauce - that used to be more soft and palatable, I can't even taste anything else, to compensate for the lack of sandwich for over $12. Insane. The fries were the highlight of my meal and that's really saying a lot. $6.50 for one of the smallest iced coffees I've ever received... I think you're staying open on highway robbery alone. Or that the gentrifiers just don't give a damn. Honestly, I could've gotten something better at the Bodega for less than $35 after the Uber fees. I feel bad leaving this honestly, but... how you go from such a wonderfully established place to some dreadful experience is just sad. Do better, become yourself again, because unfortunately I won't be ordering anymore.

Shucks I wanted to give this place five stars but it didn't start so well. The first barista who…read moretook my order was really great. I first ordered a chai latte and he said I could do two different syrups so I got the pumpkin and salted maple, though I was worried about it being too sugary so he suggested I could just do half a pump of each. He asked me what the name of the order would be and I said "Aida" (the phonetic spelling is ah-EE-dah). And then I heard the other barista say something along the lines of, "oh Aida, how about 'Aida' rather not be here", pretty rude if you ask me. And then I ordered the spicy nook sandwich. And when another server called my named to grab it she didn't even knowledge me when I tried to thank her and instead she talked to her coworker while I was right in front of her. The sandwich was really good, so was my chai tea. I really like the pumpkin and salt and maple syrups too. I did like all the options for seating although it was pretty packed. I'd say if you have a big party get there early. By 7pm the whole place was filled. There was a huge majong club that came in and took the whole back area, it was so crammed there were lines for the bathroom. Over all I had a good time. I really like the music too just know it gets very busy in there. The employees I would say were hit or miss. The ones that were great though I really liked. Just seem like the ones who didn't really give attention to customers or were kind of rude seemed like they didn't wanna be there.
