Extremely bland steak and so hard to chew. My steak tacos were also hard to eat and very little steak inside. If you want consistent authentic Mexican food this is your place. It's literally a hole in the wall in Williamsburg but the food is amazing. It's tiny and there's no space to really dine with a group but if you're looking for cheap eats for good amount of food, I highly recommend. read more

Super unassuming but damn, this place is delicious! I got this place for takeout because the interior wasn't super inviting haha. I start with the taco, which was solid - I probably wouldn't get it again, but it felt refreshing with the lettuce + pico. The queso tostada was just the star of the show - a hunking chunk of avocado with oozy cheese made every bite special. Really bummed about my experience today. Had a craving for fish tacos and nachos (yep both) - read good reviews and the delivery time was reasonable (30-40 minute wait), so I went for it. 3 fish tacos + cheese nachos. Final cost well over $30 by the time $5.99 delivery fee, tax and tip added. Sadly the delivery window came and went. I called the restaurant and spoke with a very pleasant girl. She was kind and explained that the delivery was not done by the restaurant itself but by Seamless/Grub Hub and she has no control over the timing. Annoying. I was understanding but explained at this point the order was more than 20 minutes late. She told me she'd tell the owner and that there's nothing she could do. She recommended I call Seamless to complain. I waited another 15 minutes and the food came. It was 25-35 minutes past the estimated time window and was totally soggy. I threw most of the nachos away as they felt like they'd been run under water. I ate the tacos with a knife and fork but couldn't pick them up because they too had soaked through the shell. Definitely not satisfying the craving! Not really sure where the responsibility lies here - either with Seamless or with the restaurant but it was a waste of $35 and a waste of an hour+ time. read more

After reading the great reviews on Yelp, I was determined to check this place out. Great Mexican food is hard to find in Toronto, so Taco Santana looked promising! Be warned, however, that their stated hours of 11AM-10PM Monday-Saturday are pretty loose. I.e. if it's not busy, they will just close early. Went by twice only to be disappointed that they were closed. If you're making a special trip to come here, call first. When I finally did make it, I was not disappointed! Came by to pick up lunch. The place is tiny with no AC or fan, so it was super hot but the staff didn't seem to mind. That little girl in the photo was not there, but there was a young boy who helped translate our order and questions, as the rest of the staff speak little English. They have tacos, nachos, tostadas, etc. My DC and I shared: - Taco Santana with pork -- quite big and comes with fresh avocado. Delicious! - Tinga Taco with chicken and veggies -- 2 smaller tacos, no avocado. Very fresh and flavourful. - Chorizo tostada - my favourite!! Fresh shredded cheese on top and nice spicy sausage. - They give you 2 kinds of hot sauce - red and green. Both are really good, although the latter is way spicier. Total came to $8. Great value. There are 3 tables sitting a max of 10 people total. A tv plays Spanish channels and it's decorated festively inside! // Service The one cashier/server was very friendly and accommodating! // Food You can get tacos "regular" with onions and cilantro or "with everything" where they add guac, tomato and lettuce. We just asked for onions, cilantro and guac. We've had the bistec, carnitas, lengua, camaron, and pastor. Although all delicious, the frontrunners are lengua, camaron and pastor! Delicious! We didn't get alcohol this time but I think we saw one type of beer in their fridge. We usually eat at La Superior, but the tacos here are bigger, cheaper, and dare I say, tastier? We have been searching for great Mexican food since we moved from Texas a little over a year ago and when we walked in to Taco Santana, i felt a positive vibe because it reminded me of Dos Amigos, an authentic family ran Mexican restaurant in North Texas. There is no seating and you have to wait for a while or get lucky. Literally 2 tables for 4 and a table in the corner that can fit 1 (2 if there is a missing chair somewhere). The guac was the best we've had in NYC and the chips were fresh and cooked crispy but not burnt. I got the chicken burrito and it was good but not a smash. My wife lost her mind and said her meal was better than Dos Amigos so she immediately group chatted our friends from Texas that we would go on the reg with and has less friends now but the meal was that good. Most importantly it took over two hours to get here. When I would call they kept saying 5 min then 7 then 45 min later they said "the driver got in an accident." Uh ok. Nondescript little Taco Santana sits just off Broadway, colorfully inviting people in with its tri-color Mexican flag awning. Inside are three tables that are crowded for space with mountains of soda and juice deliveries and a non-working jukebox, and a counter that seats a few more. The tacos here are slightly different than Mexico City style, with less fresh ingredients and spicy salsa, but tasty nonetheless. The taco santana ($3.50) is worth the $1.25 upgrade from the rest for the fresh tomatoes and avocado, but make sure someone gets you the green salsa out of the refrigerator if it does not come automatically. Some of the creative dishes on the rest of the menu like the enchiladas bandera ($6) are worth a try. The latter comes with red, white, and green sauces with plenty of good kick. The best way to approach a visit to this restaurant is to ask what is fresh and ready, or what the daily specials are, and see where they lead you.
