This was my first time visiting Action Camera and I had such a great time from start to finish. I called ahead before coming in and had a really fun and helpful conversation with Christina. I was getting ready for a large event and realized I did not have exactly what I needed. She immediately reassured me that they had the right items and made the situation feel easy and stress free. When I arrived, I was genuinely impressed. The store is spacious, well organized, and full of amazing gear. I enjoyed taking my time walking through each aisle and exploring. It honestly felt like being in one of my favorite stores and just having fun while shopping. The customer service here is excellent, and the value is just as strong. Everything was clearly explained, the recommendations made sense, and I felt confident that I was getting exactly what I needed at a fair price. I went in looking for two items and left with a few more simply because the options and value were that good. Christina was wonderful to work with in person. Action Camera feels mildly chaotic when you walk in, but it's quickly contained as you walk down the isles. From camera straps, to camera bags, to fun album books, this store is truly fun to explore! I feel like it's always tidy and finding what you need is made customer friendly. Our buying experience was excellent. The value of the camera my husband was looking at was the same price as on Amazon. We choose to shop local as often as we can, and we were delighted when Action Camera had the camera in stock. They offered to clean the old one while we were purchasing the new one. It was a nice touch to add when we were going to be spending a sizeable amount. Overall, our experience was great! The employees spoke to my teenager, not down to her. They answered all her questions, made suggestions based on what she was looking for and they didn't try to upsell her. They even made suggestions for lenses they didn't carry because they might be a better fit for what my daughter was looking for. She later took a class put on by them and had nothing but praise for the instructor and models. She said she learned new techniques, ways to improve her style as well as expand it. best place to develop film in town! brought in 5 rolls of film the other day and was told they were pretty busy and it could take longer than normal to get my pictures, but i still got them that same day. price is great - $9 to develop + $10 if you want digital scans. plus they email the digitals directly to you instead of giving you a cd or flash drive. will definitely be returning. read more

I brought in a box of slides to get digitized and Action Camera was great! They were friendly, timely, and honest with how much it would cost to get over 300 slices digitized. I could have bought the machine to digitize them but didn't have the time to do it myself. The pictures turned out great and priceless to have those memories more easily accessible to the rest of the family just by downloading them from a link. This is the place for all your camera/film/development needs. I popped into this place for the first time today and was blown away by the selection of cameras and lenses. It's a small shop but packed full. I came in for some 35mm film, since it's easier and cheaper than ordering online. I was in and out quickly and got some decent advice. They also do develop film for $8 - something that almost no local place does anymore. The man that helped me behind the counter was great, and I heard other staff in the store helping customers when needed. Great place, and I'll definitely be back when I'm ready to get a new camera! read more

INCREDIBLE CONSUMER EXPERIENCE!! I'm Tech Challenged, needed picture enlarged from flash drive. Aaron was AWESOME from the get go!! I had screwed up the transfer from my PC to the drive, and the picture didn't show up, because it was wrong format from my iPhone. MOST would have thrown in the towel right then, and sent me home to change the format and come back. NOT Aaron!! I wanted a new (expensive) camera and was looking at Best Buy, Amazon, and also Action Camera. Turns out the prices were the same at all three, and since I really like to support local business when possible, it was an easy choice to buy it from Action Camera. The service was great, the staff are knowledgeable about the products they sell (you won't get that at a big box store) and they had what I wanted in stock. The biggest benefit from buying from Action Camera came later when I thought I had an issue with my camera. I went back to see my original salesman (Brian) and he took the time to listen to my issue and then thoroughly investigate it with me. He didn't brush me off, but went to pains to see if it really was a problem. We experimented with equipment from their rental program and found out that my "issue" was really an operator error/operator expectation issue, and there was nothing wrong with the camera. That sort of service is not possible with either Best Buy or Amazon. Thanks for the great service! read more

This place is really neat and definitely seems like the place to go for professional camera/photography advice. I bought a bunch of disposable cameras for my wedding that I needed developed and didn't have luck at some of the chain stores since that service has largely been discontinued or contracted out. As far as I can tell, Action Camera is the only local place that develops film themselves. They turned everything around pretty quickly and were really helpful explaining the different options for negatives, photo development, receiving digital copies, etc. read more

I recently bought a used DSLR camera and visited Action Camera in Reno, NV. to look for filters. This is my first DSLR camera, so there is a learning curve. While there, I noticed an advertisement on basic photography training (2.5hr). That Saturday, I took the first course with my wife, and it was excellent. The instructor said he had a second course, same name, that was more advanced on Wednesday evening (2.5 hrs.). It too was excellent. When I asked at the counter if there was any additional training, they said they offered a city walk with the same instructor (signed up for that immediately, and an introduction to Adobe LightRoom (LrC) on the next Saturday. So I signed up for that too. Action Camera even contacted me on Thursday to confirm my attendance. At no time did anyone say the class was 4+ hours long, only that you needed a computer. I was expecting an introduction to photo processing in LrC. However, the instructor started off the class by saying that he was only going to introduce the interface and organization, and NOT going to discuss the processing of photographs. He later said that we would be taking a lunch break and end at 5:00 pm. I was unprepared for this as I didn't bring my power supply for my computer and I had another appointment at 3:30 pm. 2.5 hrs. on my 6 year old computer is no problem, but 4+ hours is not going to work. After my computer died, I was wasting my time. Warning, if you take a course at Action Camera, make sure you ask specific questions about the course, like how long is the course (start and finish times), who is teaching, and what do you need to bring. I ended up leaving and wasting both time and money for something I could have gotten off of YouTube in a 15 minute video. Unfortunately, Action Camera is the only Photography store in Reno or I'd take my business elsewhere. read more

I'd like to give a shout out to Aaron Harris at Reno Action Camera. I have gone to several of his Milky Way workshops. He has always been very helpful and has a great knowledge of all the different cameras and tripods. My Milky Way photos have improved tremendously and also my understanding of my camera. I had a problem with my bear photos because I was shooting in the early morning light. I went to Action Camera Reno and Aaron helped me to understand what I was doing incorrectly. I had my ISO too high and so it was very grainy So I cut down the ISO which opened up my aperture and hopefully the bears weren't moving too fast... Thank you again Aaron for your assistance. Action Camera in Reno is the best. Aaron and all of the guys and girls that work there go out of their way to help you. I have been going there for a few years for camera equipment and advice. I have been asking for help lately with setting up my camera and advice on shooting settings, Aaron has taken so much time to go over things with me to see that I get the best shots possible, explaining different ways to get certain shots. I have also picked up some filters and other accessories that I have been needing for a while that will allow me to do the type of photos I want. This store is friendly from amateur photographers to professionals and Even beginners. They even offer to clean your camera sensor for free. Even being a hobbyist myself. I found myself geekin' over what this store had to offer in all aspects of the photo realm. They had so many cool gadgets and camera accessories and "toys." Along with photo backdrops, backpacks and flashes and cool lenses, lights and reflectors. And another cool thing is that they can develop film!! I'm so hyped there's another camera store here!! I'm definitely gonna be a regular here. I came in for replacement sled for my tripod. And having an off brand tripod. I was worried they didn't have my replacement. But they happen to know exactly what sled would fit. And even offered and opened the packaging so I could try it on before I bought it. The customer service was top notch.
