He even arranged for a company to come and clean the carpets. Despite a rocky start this worked out extremely well. The house is spotless and ready for market, I'm sure we made more than any garage sale could have and this will help pay final bills etc. While nothing can help replace my mom, getting this this part done as well as it has been helps me focus on other more important things. My mother, my sons maternal grandmother, frequently attends estate sales and this was the worst ( not only in her opinion, many of her friends attended the sale and commented on the organization and staging). My mother was horrified at what she saw as a service taking advantage of her grandson's naivety. The sale started with the items in total disarray ( I have photos of before and after I stepped in to get a liquidation service). Due to lack of prep, an autographed copy of Rosa Parks was sold for 50 cents that ChatGPT priced between $1500-3000) The house was filthy for the sale ( I found out afterwards that most services sanitize the house to prepare for the sale). After the sale, the woman conducting the sale started carting things away to clean and my son wisely declined her post cleaning service. Many of the items left behind were very valuable and had been staged so poorly in the dust and disarray, the people coming through could not see items My mother was so alarmed by what she saw, she had me contact another service to provide a liquidation. The worst part is the number of people that can provide an evaluation of the service. I spent 12 plus hours reorganizing for liquidation and I know it would have made a huge difference for the initial sale.
