Dr. Akins basically told me what I was experiencing was normal for mothers, and I needed to sleep and relax more. She prescribed a heavy duty anti depressant to use as a sleep aid and sent me on my way. Well, that didn't fix my issues. It turns out I have multiple autoimmune diseases, and got progressively sicker over the years, and didn't even start getting any real relief until 2022, when I started finally getting the proper diagnosis. Dr Akins upholds the antiquated 'hysterical women' mindset, despite being a woman herself. She will railroad and dismiss you, and I wouldn't suggest anybody use this absolutely terrible doctor, and quite frankly, terrible human being. If she had actually done her job, I probably could have avoided years of extreme suffering. I think about this frequently, as what could have been a turning point in my health, if Dr Akins actually cared about listening to patients.

Sometimes I have to wait a while before getting in to see the doctor but when I get to see them, they spend as much time with me as needed, so I don't begrudge the time that they spend with the patient before me! It's hard to determine how much time a patient is going to need. Neither Dr Wright or Teri makes you stick to exactly what you schedule the appointment for! The front desk is always the "protection" for taking advantage of the doctor's time but learning how to communicate your needs goes a long way for them helping to schedule you for your needs. Finally, I call in after 15 minutes, and Shauna directs me to a new office location right across the parking lot.
