I tried to work with a salesman on a quote and told him that timing was everything. My pups got loose a few days ago, and there are portions of my fence which need repair sooner rather than later. Unfortunately, I've had to contact the sales rep multiple times to get a quote. I do appreciate him coming out in the latter part of the day, yesterday. But, when you promise someone a quote "first thing in the morning" and come noon that morning, and there still isn't a phone call or a quote, it's a bit disappointing. So, I contacted him at noon and he told me he needed to remeasure because he was off by about 80 feet. SO, he went out and remeasured my yard around 2 o'clock today. I would like to get this project up and running, so I contacted him around 4 o'clock and his reply was, "Just go ahead with your other bid. It seems you're in too big of a hurry, we might not be a good fit."
Well, I guess he's right. If a customer is trying to be punctual and get things done in a timely manner, but it doesn't fit your time table, maybe it isn't a good fit b/n customer and company. Two other companies came out and supplied a bid within 24 hours with a projected start date of 4 wks from now to get the project moving. They were free to start the project in two weeks.
Timing is everything, as well as customer service. As much as I want to like a company who was a direct referral from another business owner/colleague, I have to pass on Action Fence & Deck. read more
