The new fence adds such beauty to our backyard! Garrett, the salesman noticed our house's set-up and recommended that instead of a board-by-board we go with a horizontal fence. He was available for all my questions and the changes we made. The team that came out measured everything and did a neat and efficient job. Good follow-up by Rider and the office. We had to request that they come back up to remove some nails that were sticking out and adjust the picket on the gate. They followed up although I had to make two requests. How I originally got in contact with DFW Fence Contractor was via and advertisement posted in my Twitter feed for The Original Postmaster Limited Lifetime Warranty & Withstands up to 73 MPH winds had got my attention. Their website navigated me to the local contractor of the DFW Fence Contractor. I contacted them from their local telephone number (831) 886-0848 and contacted Marcus. I told him how I got his companies name and telephone and did a few questions and answers and had a very short pleasant informative conversation. Soon, directly the same day a representative named Stacy arrived at my home at a prearranged time and we walked the area that the work needed to be done. He measured the area and we discussed the materials to be used and he would write up an estimate and email it to me. The special request did not seem to bother them either as I had the job broken down in separate estimates to share the information and expenses on the common fences with a neighbor as we did share the expenses of the project. Then an additional separate estimate on my gate and fencing around my gate. I opted for the upgraded no hang gates. We also opted for some upgrades on the 2X6 treated footing. As I wanted the Postmaster Fence, you can tell I have the 2x4 runners on my side of the fence and you cannot see the metal fence posts, it's called the invisible steel fence post. They would remove and carry off the old fencing. So we went through the quoting estimate process. We selected the cedarwood and upgrade to the 2x6 footing ( its treated wood to prevent the pickets from contact on the ground). We also opted for the sprinkler insurance too. As a homeowner, we are usually considered the general contractor and I have written contracts before subcontracting from other skilled services used on my property, but we used their written estimate when it was accepted by DFW Fence Contractor as the contract between three parties instead. The neighbor, myself and DFW Fence Contractor. So it took some time to have the meeting of the minds with the neighbor and accepted the estimate. Then I paid the 50% down payment so the work could be started. The usually delays and time schedules when we had to deal with some rain delays. So it was a couple of weeks we waited for the job to get done. Everything was good. So the customer service was pretty good, with reasonable delays on telephone calls and emails. Communication is a key detail. The quality of the materials was good as well as the craftsmen ship. As the owner of the company sent out a crew of three to do the work. The old fence was down and soon removed from the property and the new fence put in. I did periodical checks on the project as it was being done. I look at the fine details to make sure it is going up as I expected. The job was done and I paid the other 50% after my inspection from what I could see. I am very excited to have my new fence and happy with the great job they did building it! The fence installers did an exceptional job from beginning to end. After years of weather and aging, our old fence succumbed to the heavy straight-line winds of this past season. We sought out referrals from many of our friends and neighbors and several recommended Marcus. Admittedly, Marcus' bid was the highest we received. However, we were especially impressed that each piece of wood was hand-dipped in the stain-sealant, so every surface was treated. I've been a lifelong DIY guy on many projects. I had a big residential fencing job that I knew I couldn't do as well as I wanted it. I followed the old adage to get at least three bids, and among them was DFW Fence Contractor. From the start, Stacey was right there, explaining the types of wood, the merits of each type, the significance of the pole sizes and spacing, and all the other fine points. I was super impressed, and he handed me a written estimate with notes, details, diagrams, and a full breakdown of all the costs. They were expensive. The other contractors showed up (or not) to see the job. Those who did gave me a written bid (or they did not). As it was, the proposals we're all pretty competitive, but when I started looking at the materials (my experience has shown the fence rails are the first thing to rot, and once rotten, reattaching the slats becomes difficult because as I nail in one slat, three others loosen up), I realized DFW Fence Contractor uses ACTUAL 2x4s instead of MILLED 2x4s, which is very significant and distinctive from any other proposal. The more I looked, the more I decided I didn't want any other company doing this job. Suffice it to say, like so many other reviewers have said, they showed up on time, worked hard, did the job far better than expected, and cleaned up afterward. I had these guys replace a 230' fence right down to the posts and build a board on board pre-stained fence. It looks amazing and is built like a fortress wall. I called about 10-12 contractors and of all of those Markus was one of the few that responded promptly. His estimate was honest and accurate and Markus himself was very professional throughout the whole process. He was also the only estimate that was willing to fully remove the old fence posts as the other guys either wanted to reuse the old metal posts or cut them off at the ground and plant new ones around them. Even with that he still managed to undercut everyone else. To be fair all the estimates were within about $500 of each other. I don't think you could buy a better quality product from anyone. They even hid the fence posts. I will try to update in a year or so with how the fence is holding up, but for now I am extremely satisfied and can't recommend DFW Fence enough. read more

We chose DFW Fence contractor over three other bids because of their knowledge, preparedness, and professionalism. This was not easy as there were 5 neighbors involved and each had input on which company to use. It is not often you can get that many people to agree on one company when they weren't the cheapest. This was in December 2012. Fast forward to July 2014, I called Marcus for a couple of service-repair items (not related to construction of fence) and he sent his crew to address my needs. The crew leader was Joe, and he did a fantastic job in repairing my gate that was damaged due to pool construction. It looks brand new again and the fence itself looks as good as the day it was installed. I believe the individually dipped pickets make a huge difference in appearance and durability. Poor customer service. Josh came out to my home to give me an estimate on two services. He emailed me the quote a few hours later. The quote he originally sent me was actually incorrect and he sent me a revised quote later that night that went up by hundreds of dollars for a simple stain and footer installation for my small backyard. We decided that their prices were not worth it for the stain (just pennies shy of $6 PER FOOT), so we wanted to go forward with only the footer installation. I emailed back to schedule a time a date and I don't think that josh liked me not wanting both services. He was very rude and curt in his reply back and said "I will have to add a $250 service fee to send the crew out." Mind you this is just installing a footer on 2 short fences, probably 30 minutes of work for 1 guy, not a "crew." His response felt as if he was basically telling me they didn't want my business. This review is for a fence that was installed a year ago. I wanted to see how the fence held up before offering insights and advice about the product and service that I received. When I first contacted Marcus in late 2015, he was very quick make an appointment for the estimate. When he arrived, he was punctual, polite, and thorough in his assessment. He asked a lot of questions and offered several style options for us to choose from. Samples of his work were right in the bed of his pickup truck, and his written estimate was fully detailed. Let me say right away that Marcus' estimate was the highest that we received, but not outrageously so. We've seen a lot of poorly installed low-quality fencing, some right in our own neighborhood, and we were convinced that the fence that Marcus would build would be both robust and beautiful. Marcus used hand dipped Western Red Cedar for the pickets and pressure-treated pine for the parts of the fence which made ground contact. On our property, he also installed extra posts and a retaining wall 3 feet down to ensure that we had no problems with the grade in years to come. The installation took 2 days, and the crew was right on time each day. They worked very hard all day long, without rushing anything, and they were very careful in their removal of the existing fence as well as the installation of the new fence. The hardware used, from the screws and nails to the door latches, posts, and hinges were all top of the line. The end result was fantastic - easily the best looking fence on the block, being new, but the method of construction makes it clear from 50 feet away that this fence is built to last. Now, a full year later, the fence is exactly as it was originally installed. The dark walnut brown stain has lightened to a more copper-like shade, which I like very much. My wife and I couldn't be happier with the fence! We will have Marcus re-stain in a couple of years to restore and protect our investment. I can't thank Marcus and his crew enough for their excellent craftsmanship and for their commitment to their customers. We enjoy our fence every single day, as well as the peace of mind that comes with something that is really, truly, done right. So, if you're shopping for a new fence and you want 'the good stuff', look no further... THIS IS THE GUY. After days of comparing the cost of a DIY fence and being honest with the wannabe fence contractor (me), I concluded that I did not want to spend weekend (plus some) removing the old fence, old posts, etc., then have to start again with digging new posts and so-on. I called several fence company for estimates, and most companies (including those sub-contracted by big-box retailers) stopped by the house with photos of their work and promises of what my fence would look like after they did the work. Only Marcus, with DFW Fence Contractors had actual samples of their fence in the back of his pickup. We spent more than 30 minutes at his truck, perusing the samples and options for each, talking about the workers who would install the fence, their arrival and quitting times, his insurance coverage, acceptable payment options, discounts, etc. The ~3x4' fence samples and being able to pick and choose the options I wanted, --and see many of those options already on the samples-- is what sold me. Seeing the samples beats any photograph and 1000 words spoken by any salesman! Our start date was postponed due to rain, but I was kept informed every step of the way and was given start-date options. When our start date arrived, the crew of three men arrived on-time and immediately began tearing the old fence out, and set the new, 8' posts and some of the rails before calling it a day. The next day, they arrived (on time) with the pre-stained Red Cedar boards and hand-built the board-on-board fence, then they built a new entry gate on the opposite side to the house. The sun set before they were done but they did not stop until the last nail was placed. The new, taller fence is built to last, and my neighbors have commented on the workmanship and its appeal to the house and neighborhood. My wife takes solace on a renewed feeling of security & privacy--- priceless. From initial contact to cleanup, these folks are Pros. Well let me say I was impressed. Got a call back from my request to speak to someone about a quote in less then an hour. Had a salesman come to the house the next day. A very professional no nonsense review of the work we needed done and got a quote on the spot. I signed up and got an email with the invoice. Was happy to pay only half up front and the other half after the work was done to my satisfaction. They showed up when they said they would, did all the work in one day and I could not be happier with the quality of the job and the professionalism of the workers. I had a 150 foot 8' high fence and a gate in the back yard and a double gate in my driveway along with an additional gage on the other side of the house. The quote was fair and actually $500 less then other quotes. I recommend them for several reasons. Professionals, Promptness, Quality of work. You cannot go wrong with these guys. Based on reviews on Yelp.com and some existing DFW Fence Contractor fences in our neighborhood, I obtained an online quote and then called to have someone discuss fences with us. I did not get a quote from any other fence contractor and thought that the DFW Fence Contractor quote was reasonable in view of the quality of the fence they were going to install. Josh was prompt to come out with sample stain colors and answered all of my questions. I had a few questions along the way and Josh was quick to respond to my emails. While the job was underway, I had a couple of questions and Marcus was prompt in answering my texts. Our new fence was finished today and it looks fantastic!! It is SO much better quality than the quality of our original builder grade fence was when it was installed in 2005. Kudos to Mingo and his crew for doing such an outstanding job on our fence. The stain on a few of the pickets was lighter than the rest, so the crew came back around before they left the job today with a bucket of stain and brushed some more stain on so that the stain color on all of the pickets is uniform in color. I had 4 estimates from companies to remove and replace 280 feet of 6 and 8 foot picket fence with wood posts -- a fence that had severely deteriorated through the years. I picked DFW Fence Contractor for several reasons. First, when the company's owner, Marcus, came to the house for measurement and consultation, he had with him actual fence samples to show various construction options. Marcus was also totally professional -- he knew what he was doing. I am an engineer, and a retired contractor, so I knew could tell Marcus knew his business. Secondly, his cost estimate was emailed to me very quickly, and was very complete and detailed. Several estimates from others were handwritten, or not complete. Third, DFW Fence Contractor absorbed the cost of utility locations and yard irrigation repair (if needed -- which it wasn't). With others, these costs were the responsibility of the owner. I chose to have my fence be cedar board-on-board with running top cap -- and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. The fence crew was very efficient, and the carpentry detailing excellent.
