Action taxi is specially designed for people with disabilities and seniors, I remembered taking a taxi home from 2210 Veris Mill Road, Rockville MD 20851, to 15900 Indian Hills Terrace, Derwood MD 20855, even though, it was a very far distance, I still given the taxi driver, a very high tip, because of on time, friendlyness, cleanest cabs, and safest rides, the driver did not take me to a place that is not on the job offer, and it accepted call n ride card, finally, the taxi driver, did not rush me, he let me take as much time as possible, which is a huge plus. read more

Do not under any circumstances use this taxi service. Today I called at 5 AM for a 6:50 AM pick up. At 6:55 I called. They said the car was four minutes away and he would call us. No car at 7:10 AM call back and another operator said there was no car in the area and there's no driver and no car has been set up. On top of that lying to us and creating a problem for us with our job, they have the nerve to charge us for the horrendous service. They are not dependable and dishonorable. I've used Action Taxi for 30+ years. In recent years, though, I've used them primarily for trips to the airport when I did not want to chance not being able to get an Uber for 15 or more minutes. Apparently, AT now operates like Uber. I reserved a taxi last night for 6 am this morning. Shortly after 6, I called to confirm that a cab was on the way. I was told that they hadn't "located" a cab to fulfill my reservation, but hoped to do so in 10-15 mins. So much for making advance reservations. I got an Uber within 10 minutes. As of 6:35 no taxi has arrived at my house. If AT cannot honor a reservation made 10 hours in advance, not much point in using them anymore. read more

Worst service ever. Unreliable! Never on time or worse they just don't show up after making a booking. I have two bookings on the action taxi app and two emails confirming the booking. They claim they don't send emails while I am staring at an email from them with booking confirmation numbers. They claim that the confirmation numbers are of no use to them. The dispatcher on the phone claims to be the manager and can do nothing. read more

I was trying to get something delivered from a pharmacy to a hospital, where I was laid up with a broken ankle. Rather than say "sorry, we don't do that," or even "try a courier service," the dispatcher said "Taxicabs are for people!" and hung up the phone. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE When you call to reserve a taxi the ph invites you to press 0 so you can download their app. Which the app itself is very user friendly however when I used it for about 10 minutes the app kept saying that my driver was 14 minutes away so I called ACTION TAXI & was told that I had a problem to call another company. This woman was not even willing to call the driver to see what was happening with the call. I have been using their service for almost 15 years with no issues at all. However, lately the taxi drivers they have sent are either rude or worst they don't seem they know how to drive. The last three have been distracted, take wrong routes or are extremely slow which is not the best way to get to the airport. The very first that comes out of the rep's mouth is we have nothing available right now. Sounds as if she was not in the mood and didn't wanna bother helping someone out just because there were no cabs available at the time of the call. Given how difficult it is to find a reliable taxi service in Montgomery County that provides good service, I figured I have to spread the word. If you ever need a taxi ride locally, I'd give Action Taxi a try. Unlike the nightmarish reviews I've heard about its competitors, such as Barwood, my experience w/ Action was pleasant. The Caucasian driver, a rarity in his profession, was on time at 8am sharp just like I asked him to be, and had a nice demeanor about him. Now, if you are going to the airport, I'd go for Montgomery County Taxicab Service (see earlier reviews). It's a fixed rate so it's more economical. Good luck and safe travels! read more

Someone just called me from ACTION TAXI, (telephone number 301-840-1000) and did not leave a voicemail message. I called the number back, and informed the lady, that I did not contact them for their services. Well, before I could explain that I did not know who the number was; or that I did not call them; the lady spoke over me. She was loud, rude, and unprofessional. She went on to say, "Yes, you did call, and did not respond, and I canceled your taxi." Then the lady hung up. I never had the opportunity to explain anything. I called back, and asked the lady could I share my thoughts, because there was a misunderstanding. The lady replied, "No, because it doesn't matter, and I canceled the taxi." I tried to explain again that I did not contact the company for services; and that someone else may have used the incorrect telephone number and / or address. The lady continued being rude, unprofessional, and loud. I asked her for a supervisor, and she said, "It's pointless!" I explained to her that I would keep calling back, until I spoke with someone who would provide me with the opportunity to speak. I stayed on the line and a man answered the line. I shared with him about the experience with the lady previously, and he immediately apologized. Also, I was able to explain to the gentleman, that I never contacted them for their services, and that someone must have used my business address and telephone number. My recommendations to this company: Train your employees in professional phone etiquette, and customer service. Customers tend to patronize professional businesses, that have trained and qualified staff members to assist their customers in a respectful manner. Thank you. read more

My wife was recently hiking the C&O canal and encountered segment that had an apocalyptic mosquito party going on for miles. After calling other cab companies without luck I reached out to Action Taxi who not only knew where the trail parking area where my wife was at but was happy to give her a ride from there to where she needed. The dispatcher was friendly and knew the area and the cabby was friendly and earned every penny of his tip. I can't speak to the other reviews here but if we're ever in the area again I'm going to call these guys first. read more

I think this place is run by a bunch of teenagers. I always thought it was a respectable company but it seems that people who never really grew up work there. I have on occaion taken one of their taxis so I had the phone number in my phone. Apparently I accidently called it by mistake so I just hung up real quick. Its pretty apparent they have caller ID, who doesnt these days. Well the next time I called the dispatch to order a taxi they hung up on me, no words just click so I thought it was a mistake so I dialed again and the same thing happened. Fine with me I went elsewhere. Too bad they dont want my money because I am also a very good tipper. One other occasion I was told 15-20 minutes and it never showed so I called and complained and they never sent the Taxi so again I went to their competitor. I will never use them again. So, for anyone who has common sense and has read a drivers manual, it would be obvious that a pedestrian walking across the street has the right of way. I was walking across the street, on a walk with my two kids and my two dogs, and with us a wagon in case the kids get tired of walking. Cab number 2757 has the nerve to honk at me and my kids, scaring them.. rolls down his window and yells, "get out of the road!" Wow... I immediately called the supervisor and they told me they will talk to the cab driver.. I would have fired him. That is not okay under any circumstances. Holy rudeness. I just got off the phone in attempting to make a reservation and I ended up canceling it with how rude the dispatcher was. I worked in customer service for 6.5 years, and then did bill collection/customer service for a program center for another 1.5 years, so it takes A LOT for me to get offended by bad customer service. This person managed to do it in 1 minute flat. Dispatcher: Hello, thank you for calling Action Taxi, how many I assist you? Me: Hello, yes, I would like to make a reservation for tomorrow morning. Dispatcher: Yes, what is the pick up address? Me: (gives address, but genuinely forgets if it's Avenue or Street. I live on a numbered Street but used to live on numbered Avenues growing up.) Dispatcher: Okay, what time? Me: Wait, it might be Street, hold on... Dispatcher: What time? Me: Yes, sorry, it's Street, I used to live in the city so- Dispatcher: WHAT TIME? Me: Um, I think I'll be taking my business elsewhere. I used to use Action Taxi all the time, both for personal and for my company. I don't think I will again. My 6am pick up for the airport arrived 45 minutes late. I called 3 times and was told he was on his way. The customer reps were fine, but the taxi was still late. I am not sure what has changed, but I am disappointed. read more

We called them the night before to order a taxi for 7:30AM. In the morning, no taxi came, so we called to ask if it is on the way. They told us there is no taxi for us and it will be 15-20 minutes before one can get to us. We had an important meeting to be on time for so a friend drove instead. When I called this evening to complain, he said, "yeah sometimes that happens, there aren't enough taxis." What is the point of ordering a taxi beforehand if you cannot count on it to be there??! I used to take Action Taxi, and I wrote a glowing review for them back in 2013, but I am not going to use them any more. First of all, two weeks ago when I was coming home from DC late at night when the buses don't run as often, the driver refused to take me from Shady Grove Metro to my home in Rockville. I called Action, and they were going to investigate the situation and call me back. Secondly, last week, when I called them @ 9:30, the phone was constantly busy, and I had to call another company. Thirdly, this week, I called them @ 9:45 pm, and they claimed not to have any cabs. I was able to get a cab from another company within twenty minutes. I was sorely disappointed by this service. I called to make a taxi reservation two hours before I needed it. Ten minutes after the scheduled time, I called them to find out where the taxi was. They said that they could not find anyone in my area. When I asked why they hadn't called my cell phone (I'd given them the number), they said that they were busy with other customers. I was in the middle of nowhere so i had no other options but to wait. After a further 30 minute delay, the taxi showed up. The driver polite (despite blasting Evangelical sermons on the radio). Thinking it was just a one-off, I called Action Taxicab to take me back to pick up my repaired car, they left me on hold for 10 minutes before I eventually hung up. So, while I have never used them before, I decided to try Uber. The car was there in 20 minutes (no need to call ahead) and the fare was $6 cheaper. read more

Just spoke with Russell at Action Taxi. It was 8:45 PM and I need a 5 AM ride to the airport. He was polite and professional and already knew where to send the cab (based on caller ID, I guess). It was quick, easy no problem. Will add a star after I use the service - if I remember to. Another poster suggested calling Montgomery Taxi service for airport ride. My recommendation: Don't. I was at the parking lot of a daycare center in Rockville. The parking was full and I was waiting for one lady to buckle in her child then leave for me to take her spot. In the meantime, the Action Taxi car #2773 came behind me. I guess the individual has not been gifted with patience and started to bang on my car window to yell at me how I was blocking the way. I told him that I was waiting for the spot to be available and to leave me alone but he kept complaining in an very aggressive way. These behavior and attitude are not acceptable for a business representative and even less around small children. He can scare them or worse drive like a maniac and hurt one. Please do not use this franchise, you better off with Uber, at least it is cheaper than cabs. A very disappointed parent of a preschooler. read more

this is by FAR the WORST taxi service i have ever used. i called 2 hours in advance to book a VAN to sit FIVE people. they showed up 20 minutes late, in a normal sedan, which could not fit the number of people I needed to transport. do NOT use ACTION TAXI IF YOU EVER WANT TO GET ANYWHERE ON TIME. the people you call on the phone number are also incompetent and absolutely ridiculously terrible at customer service, blaming issues on computer glitches. read more

Had to work down in this area for 1 week last month and used Action taxi every morning to get to the metro. This seemed to have the best reviews and now I can confirm they were the real deal. Literally every single am, the driver was on time or 5 min early the whole week with different drivers so it didn't seem to be a fluke, and they were all pleasant. (and none were Caucasian by the way as if that even matters!...see prior 2010 reviews) I was even able to call the night before to schedule my pickup time for the next am. This is an update to the below review from last year. We filed a formal complaint with the Montgomery County Taxi Commission who investigated the incident and contacted Action Taxi. They supposedly had a letter of reprimand entered into the driver's file. Action Taxi followed up with us and refunded the $14 that should never had been taken by the cab driver mailed to us in cash. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FRAUDULENT AND HORRIBLE SERVICE! These guys have overcharged my 80 year old mother in law twice in the last 2 weeks charging $21 and $31 for what should be a $16 fare for a trip to the senior center in gaithersburg. They ask for cash when presented with a Call N Ride card which they are not supposed to do but become threatning and yell when they don't get cash./ Today one of them tossed my mother in law's walker onto the sidewalk when she refused to pay the $31 fare he ran up. He claimed the Call N Ride card had no funds even though it had a balance of $89. he yelled at her wanting $31 but instead took the $14 cash she had. This amounts to the normal fare plus a generous $4 tip if he was charging honestly. For this, he tossed her walker onto the sidewalk in front of many witnesses at the center and yelled expletives at her. We've called to complain twice but complaints fall on deaf ears. We previously spoke to a guy supposedly named Connor who said he was the manager. Today they said there was no one there named Connor and they had no manager. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!! More line "Inaction Taxi". Called for a pick up in an area their ad claims is served. Was cycling with a group and got caught in a storm at Whites Ferry. We wanted to send 2 people back to get the cars to come get the rest of us and our bikes. Multiple phone calls and over an hour wait and we never, EVER saw a cab. Never again! I ordered 5 cabs for our Executives an hour before their required pick up and they all showed up more than 20 minutes late. The Dispatcher told me it was because of the heat (What?!) and it wasn't his fault because he just started his shift. The driver of Taxi 2715 should probably repeat his driver's license exam. In Maryland the car coming from the right has the right of way if there are no signs. Honking and flipping the other driver off is probably not what I would expect from a driver I entrust with my life. Basic knowledge of traffic rules would be a good starting point. read more
