It was my first time trying rafting with my daughter and her boyfriend. I was really scared not knowing what to expect but after the experience I would say that there's nothing to be afraid or! I had a great time! It was a good mix of chill time and adventure. We were even able to swim! It really helped having a great guide like Eduardo! We're definitely requesting him as our guide when we come back next year!

First and foremost, these stars are because Guide Fabio Ramos made sure that not only did my family have the best experience ever, he ensured they came back home in one piece. Both husband and son came home and were adamant that I Yelp and awarded them 5 stars. The look on their faces as they recounted what they had experienced and how exhilarating it was is all this mama needed. Their day started at 8AM. They opted for a 3/4 class rapids, since it was the kids first time. The weather was not as they would have wanted but Fabio provided them wet suits and jackets which they said made a world of difference. The water was definitely cold and the lack of sunshine in the morning definitely reminded them of that fact. Fabio made sure to tell them that they would have fun and push the boundaries a little to increase adrenaline, but they would do it safely. They stopped for a hamburger lunch and then were on their way for the last leg of their adventure. They reached their destination around 3:30. My husband and his brother have been white water rafting a handful of times and have experienced various companies. They said hands down this was the best. If you needed a sign to check this off your bucket list..run...and request for the Fabulous Fabio!

From kid: Hello, I am a 10 year old kid, and my name is Max. First, I loved this trip, and if I could, I would give it a 10 star rating! Next, the river is a really nice place to go rafting. To any kids who aren't sure about doing this, trust your parents because this place is a lotta fun. I hope whoever reads this has fun at the river! From Mom: This was an amazing trip. Pablo was so knowledgeable and we felt we were in good hands from a safety perspective as well as learning about the history of the river. We took the full day trip which I was worried kid would lose interest, but he loved it. The rapids were so fun. Highly recommend this group and the photo package was reasonable and amazing quality. See you next year!

This is our first rafting at "South Fork - The Gorge Express". We had an awesome and suprising time at Action Whitewater Adventures. We really enjoy this advanture! and the staff are really nice to help. The rapid level is level II and level III. We feels relax in level II and fun in level III. The coach is very professional and gave us a lot of advice and asked us to tight the life jacket and helmet during the trip. This is really important! My son got fall into the water during rapid (level III) and the coach saved him rapidly. Really appreciate the help and keep our trip safe. The onsite staff are also very nice and helpful. We set up our tents easily and feel a little chill in the morning. But everything else goes smooth. The site has a lot of tables to set up your own meals during the camping. Overall it is an unforgettable trip!

Chamy was our guide on 8/14/25 and we had an amazing time. He was so creative with our experience with spins and backwards rafting etc, yet, we always felt safe. Thank you for an amazing day on the river.

The guide, Laz, was great and made it an awesome experience for us!!! I was even able to talk to him on the drive back to camp and it was nice to get to know him on a personal level.

Ask the Community - Action Whitewater Adventures

Hi, Can adult don't know how to swim go action whitewater rafting with her family who know how to swim?? Thanks

I do not remember them asking us if we knew how to swim, because everyone has to wear a flotation device anyway.

Up to how many people in one raft?

I believe 8 guests with one guide. That's the most we saw on our last trip.

For the full day South Fork 22 mile trip, will we be on the river for 6 hours + approx 1.5 hours for lunch and transport? Total approx 8 hours? The Gorge 14 mile trip, on the…

What time did you need to meet to start the adventure?

Each one of our trips have their own start time ranging from 8 am to 11:30 am. Give us a call or shoot us a email to discuss details on the specific trip your interested in.

Does anyone know if 7 years old child can go action whitewater rafting? if he can, any discount ticket for child?

My 10 year old went with us, on the class 3s. I think it really depends on the water level and which course you go on. Call them, they are super friendly and helpful on the…

Will class IV /middle fork ride be ok for beginners?

I'm not sure but it was my first time this weekend and the chili bar was a great intro into whitewater rafting. It was a little bit too tame for me (but I'm crazy), but for the other people on the boat it was just right.

Are there other lunch options for people who want a gluten free or vegetarian options?

You can tell them your preferences. We had 2 vegans in our group but they preferred to bring their own instead of having it provided for them. I'm not sure what they would have given.

I am 70 years old in good health, but with normal joint pain for someone my age. Is a rafting trip OK for me?

Yes, age is not a factor, health and attitude is the most important thing. You may want to start your rafting adventures on the South Fork of the American River, a fun Class 3 river. Ask for Ann at AWA. Thanks and have fun

My sister, nephew and I wanted to do Middle Fork this year and I remember it being an adrenaline rush and challenging but so fun- We picked a Tuesday so it was not crowded, but when it ended up being just the three of us in the raft with Juli, I was a little nervous, remembering how intimidating tunnel chute was- and I didn't have the security of a full raft of people to weigh down the raft and help paddle to build up speed. This just goes to show you how important a seasoned veteran rafting guide is Juli was amazing. He gave clear instructions, he was very calm, and he managed the raft like a pro. No no flipping over and no one fell out. So exciting! Now I want to go to Costa Rica and look up Whitewater excitement there and request Juli. Hope to do this at least one more time this year. If I lived closer, I would go more often. Ps- I read some people complaining that you have to pitch in to carry the raft from the water up to the trucks and from the trucks down to the water, I've only been with one company that did not ask you to do that. All the rest have always had the rafters help out in pitch-in.

We did a two day south fork trip, with a stop for the night on the river bank. Our guide Cryin' Bryan(just kidding Brian!!) and bonus gear guy Gator, were absolutely amazing. The were kind, helpful, had the best stories and cooked the best food. We did 21 miles of river over two days and it was unbelievable. Things we learned on this trip... -Gator taught me how to make a camping mocha(more like chocolate coffee when I made it!) with instant cocoa mix, coffee, creamer and water. -A tortilla wrap with PB&J and trail mix is the thing of dreams. -The front right seat of the raft is the 'hot' seat(or wet seat) and you will get hammered repeatedly. Haha. -Camping on the side of the river is magic. Pure. Magic. -Hospital bar has its name for a reason. -Composting toilets in the woods smell like a gerbil cage. -Brian's love of Star Wars and pineapple fried rice lead me to believe we could be real life friends. -You can make lifelong friends out of strangers you meet on a rafting trip. The meals they provided were amazing. Well beyond normal camping fare. For sure a perk with the trip. With things like chicken salad pitas, pancakes, sandwich wraps and fajitas, we were never hungry. We upgraded to the canvas tent they have at the campground for the first night and it was wonderful. The little front porch and getting to hear the river while we slept was magic. The newly upgraded bathrooms were probably the nicest I've seen at a rustic camp ground. The shower stalls are outside, but each one has a locking door with the shower stall and a little changing area with hooks and a bench(and the rain shower heads were great, but know the water pressure isn't the hardest, but not the worst either). When the 'Boss Man' picked us up from the river on the last day, it was really neat to get to chat with him. He asked for anything we think would add to the trip, and the only thing we can think of would be to bring along a yard game for the overnight trips, like ladder-ball or something for on the river. But there is absolutely nothing we would change. Enjoy my million pictures. I really couldn't pick and choose what to show, so I showed it all! We can't wait to go back!!
