Absolutely Unforgettable River Rafting Experience with WET and Guide MJ! We had the most incredible day rafting the South Fork of the American River (Chili Bar) with WET River Trips! Our group of five ranged in age from 10 to 65, and every single one of us had the best time. Our guide MJ was truly phenomenal--her energy, humor, and expertise made the trip both exciting and comfortable. She knew exactly when to give us paddling commands and when to let us relax and enjoy the scenery. MJ made sure we were all having a blast while also checking in often to make sure everyone was staying hydrated, safe, and happy. She even let us take swim breaks, which were a fun and refreshing part of the experience! The check-in and prep process was smooth and stress-free. The entire WET crew was friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do. They know this river like it's their home and were full of cool facts and local history that added so much to the journey. We're so grateful for such a memorable experience with our family--filled with laughter, adrenaline, and connection. Thank you, MJ (you're the best guide...we took a vote), and thank you to everyone at WET for making it so special. Highly recommend!

MJ and Charlotte were excellent guides and made the trip super fun! We had a blast doing The Gorge in mid-August, nobody fell out, we hit every rapid exactly right, and we had great conversation the entire trip.

Please book with WET!! Had the best time with our guide Ant. He made sure our group had the best experience and the most fun on the water. Will 100% book again with Ant!! :))

Super fun trip! Great price! Funny story- we were chatting with another river rafting company and they were a bit pricier than we were expecting- and they told us to check Groupon as a joke- but we did and sure enough got a great deal on this! So it all worked out! Good variety of rapids too!

Fantastic staff. Tons of fun. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Saturday on South Fork. Sunday on Middle Fork for some Class 4.

WET hires guides who clearly enjoy two things--river rafting and people. I highly recommend this company.

Ask the Community - WET River Trips

Looking for a 1/2 day, guided, gentle rafting trip for 4 adults & a service dog. Mon 24 July. I rafted as a child; my relatives have not rafted but do dive. I anticipate getting wet but don't want to be thrown overboard. What do you offer?

I believe that one of the beginner levels would probably be suitable for your group.

How is the south fork half day gorge trip?

The south fork half day gorge is a great trip for families, first timers, and large groups. This trip travels down a deep River canyon which offers great wave action. Lunch is included with this trip. It is a class 3 (Out of 5) run and the age range…

The middle fork had class 4+ rapids, and it was so fun for people wanting to experience more intense rapids.

The staff were very friendly and someone is always nearby when you need assistance. Food was very tasty and always plenty for seconds because your going to burn up some calories on this trip. I went with a group of 10, last July, and it ended up being such a chaotic (in the best way) and bonding experience. We still talk about it to this day. They also offer a group discount, which is worth looking into and made it feel like a really good value for everything included. All of us were first-timers, so we were definitely a little nervous going in, but the staff made it feel really welcoming right away. They gave a quick crash course/overview on how to navigate the water and what to expect, which helped ease a lot of the nerves. I'd say it's very beginner-friendly, just keep in mind it is a Class 2-3 course, so there are still some rocky and more exciting sections. The rafting is self-guided, so there's no guide on your raft, but there is a sweeper raft at the end making sure everyone gets through safely. There was also one section where the rapids got pretty wild, and staff were there helping anyone who got stuck, which I appreciated. Overall, everything felt organized and ran smoothly. We did the 2-day experience, and I'd recommend it if you're comfortable with camping. The overnight stay is outdoors, so just something to keep in mind if you're not used to that. The campsite had a really social vibe with a happy hour, group activities, and just people hanging out, which made it even more fun. The food was honestly better than I expected. We had steak and baked potatoes for dinner, and a breakfast burrito station in the morning. During the rafting, there were also a lot of scenic spots along the way where you could rest and take everything in. I remember passing by what used to be a volcanic site, which was really cool to see. Each raft comes with a waterproof bag for your belongings and lunch, but I'd recommend bringing extra snacks, water or electrolytes, sunscreen, and good water shoes. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this for friend groups, especially if it's your first time rafting. It's a great mix of fun, a little bit of challenge, and just a really unique experience. My friends and I are already planning to go again this year.

My sister, nephew and I wanted to do Middle Fork this year and I remember it being an adrenaline rush and challenging but so fun- We picked a Tuesday so it was not crowded, but when it ended up being just the three of us in the raft with Juli, I was a little nervous, remembering how intimidating tunnel chute was- and I didn't have the security of a full raft of people to weigh down the raft and help paddle to build up speed. This just goes to show you how important a seasoned veteran rafting guide is Juli was amazing. He gave clear instructions, he was very calm, and he managed the raft like a pro. No no flipping over and no one fell out. So exciting! Now I want to go to Costa Rica and look up Whitewater excitement there and request Juli. Hope to do this at least one more time this year. If I lived closer, I would go more often. Ps- I read some people complaining that you have to pitch in to carry the raft from the water up to the trucks and from the trucks down to the water, I've only been with one company that did not ask you to do that. All the rest have always had the rafters help out in pitch-in.

Sometimes you have an experience that you know will stick with you for the rest of your life. This…read morewas one of those times. We did a two day south fork trip, with a stop for the night on the river bank. Our guide Cryin' Bryan(just kidding Brian!!) and bonus gear guy Gator, were absolutely amazing. The were kind, helpful, had the best stories and cooked the best food. We did 21 miles of river over two days and it was unbelievable. Things we learned on this trip... -Gator taught me how to make a camping mocha(more like chocolate coffee when I made it!) with instant cocoa mix, coffee, creamer and water. -A tortilla wrap with PB&J and trail mix is the thing of dreams. -The front right seat of the raft is the 'hot' seat(or wet seat) and you will get hammered repeatedly. Haha. -Camping on the side of the river is magic. Pure. Magic. -Hospital bar has its name for a reason. -Composting toilets in the woods smell like a gerbil cage. -Brian's love of Star Wars and pineapple fried rice lead me to believe we could be real life friends. -You can make lifelong friends out of strangers you meet on a rafting trip. The meals they provided were amazing. Well beyond normal camping fare. For sure a perk with the trip. With things like chicken salad pitas, pancakes, sandwich wraps and fajitas, we were never hungry. We upgraded to the canvas tent they have at the campground for the first night and it was wonderful. The little front porch and getting to hear the river while we slept was magic. The newly upgraded bathrooms were probably the nicest I've seen at a rustic camp ground. The shower stalls are outside, but each one has a locking door with the shower stall and a little changing area with hooks and a bench(and the rain shower heads were great, but know the water pressure isn't the hardest, but not the worst either). When the 'Boss Man' picked us up from the river on the last day, it was really neat to get to chat with him. He asked for anything we think would add to the trip, and the only thing we can think of would be to bring along a yard game for the overnight trips, like ladder-ball or something for on the river. But there is absolutely nothing we would change. Enjoy my million pictures. I really couldn't pick and choose what to show, so I showed it all! We can't wait to go back!!

I really appreciated they had a page linked after you book of all the things to know before the trip. Getting ready was smooth, and the guide was helpful on the way with paddling instructions and questions. We dropped into the water at two points and also got to switch seats so everyone tried being at the front. The water is extremely cold. There are two photo spots where they took pictures you can purchase. Lastly the bus to get back went great, but they kind of left us alone right after we got back to camp, even though we had some questions and were going to leave a tip (we left our wallets in the cars).
