What a blast! It was my friend Heather's birthday, and she wanted to try whitewater rafting for the first time. It was a first time for 3 out of 4 of us girls. On Sat 8/15 we did the 1/2 day class III Satan's Cesspool and Hospital Bar rapids. Skyler was our guide and he did an amazing job of keeping us safe while also ensuring we had a great time and got a good taste of what whitewater feels like. We will definitely be back! We did the 4-hour rafting trip with WET River Trips, and it was such an amazing experience! Mike (Jersey Mike!) was our guide, and he was absolutely wonderful. If you have to spend four hours on a raft with someone, he's definitely a top pick! I was the only person in our group who couldn't swim, so I made sure Mike knew ahead of time. I sat toward the back of the raft and felt extremely safe the entire trip with both our group and our guide. When we hit our first big rapid, I felt my body literally catapult out of my seat. Before I even had time to panic, Mike grabbed my life vest and pulled me right back down so I didn't fall out of the raft! That definitely made me feel like I was in good hands. For being on the river for four hours, the rowing really didn't feel strenuous at all. Mike did an awesome job leading us, steering the raft, and making the whole experience fun. No one fell out, and everyone had a great time! I'm a VERY scared and cautious person, so the fact that I had this much fun says a lot! Honestly, WET made it so easy to have a great time rafting AND camping. Here's where it just works well: 1) customer service: I talked to Chad (owner) who helped me choose what my party of 24 rafters needed (what trip fit my age group, experience level, time availability, etc). He gave me reasonable pricing for things like tent set-up and cooked meals for my campers. And when one family had trouble coming, he helped smooth it over so that the family felt seen and taken care of. He was often the first to respond to my questions, and I chose this company based on the time he took to help me feel like all my bases were covered. (And I called A LOT of companies in the area while researching!) 2) fantastic guides: we had Ant, MJ, and Noelle. Ant was magnificent. So knowledgeable about the river itself but also about the ecology and community engagement and history of the land. So passionate about the earth and making sure we had a rollicking adventure! (We got to "ride the bull" a few times!) 3) meals and camping were excellent: cooked as needed, tents set up in a lovely green meadow, and it was great to just relax and be taken care of. They even put out games of cornhole for us to play while they cooked. It was kinda blissful. Our group of scouts and parents were impressed by how calm we felt during an adventure weekend. Kudos to an amazing team! WET took very good care of us and I for one, will be back with more people for more adventures! read more

We're locals to the El Dorado County area and have rafted these rivers more times than I can count. We've been going with WET since at least 2011, probably even longer, and they are who we choose year after year because they truly are the best of the best. The guides at WET are absolute river gurus. They know how to make every trip incredibly fun while never compromising safety. Over the years, they've come to feel like family, and they have always treated us the same way. This year's trip was especially meaningful. My dad is the person who instilled my love of rafting in me, and at 82 years old, he wanted to get back on the river again. Antz was incredible with him. He made sure my dad felt safe and comfortable, but he also didn't treat him like an 82 year old who needed to sit on the sidelines. He encouraged him to step up, participate and feel like an important part of the boat. My dad absolutely rocked it, and watching him out there was something I'll never forget. We did the Middle Fork, which is my personal favorite, and WET once again made the whole experience special. I love all the little extras they bring to a trip: the great meals, picking fresh fruit along the way, and finding creative ways to experience the rapids. Rodeo rides, surfing, running rapids backwards...they always manage to make a river we've done many times feel like a new adventure. Every trip I've booked with WET has been incredible. We had a great time with our River guide Issac! We did the 2 day south fork with 7 adults. We got lucky that we got a boat to ourselves since they can fit about 8 people. Definitely very easy section of the river to start with and we saw multiple other groups with kids. I would absolutely book again for another trip with Issac. Maybe the middle fork or north fork next year :) Camping at camp lotus was very comfortable. WET has their own section of the camp that is close to the bathrooms/ shower (but not too close). The bathrooms and showers were also clean and had hot water so also good if you aren't a hardcore camper. There's a small store with snacks, drinks, tshirts and other small items and souvenirs. I drove up from SF the morning of our first day, camped one night and drove back after the second day. Both ways were not too bad of a drive and it's great you can fit in the trip over a regular weekend if you really wanted to. The two day south fork trip was nice because there was no rush and we had time to swim in the afternoon after finishing rafting the first day. read more

White water rafting is the best summer activity for a group of friends on a hot summer day, and no better way to do it than with WET River Trips! My dragon boat team does white water rafting every summer, and this summer, we decided to embark on the Middlefork route with WET. Prior to booking, I emailed the company, and they were super quick to reply. They were able to secure us the date we wanted and generated an invoice within a couple of days. For a group of 20+, you can get a discount; we paid ~$139 per person (with group discount). The meet-up point was behind the Raleys in Auburn, and right on the dot, the WET shuttles took our group to the river, which was a 50-minute drive. Once we get to the river, there are bathrooms for you to use prior to the excursion. We got fitted in our PFDs and helmets, and our guides notified us of safety calls and what to do in case we fall off. Middlefork was the perfect route for us since we're a group who prefer more exciting rafts along the way (it's a class 4 rafting trip), and there were plenty of huge rafts spread across the river. Lunch is also provided, and it was the perfect time to rest for a bit before paddling again. Shout out to our guide, Anthony, for being a fun and personable spirit! Scheduled a half day rafting for 6 and would choose this company again for class 3 rapids. We thought we'd be falling off the raft in these rapids but it wasn't that crazy at all, especially with listening to the guide's instructions. There's a few sections you can also swim in the calm river Parking is at the address shown here on Yelp, it was $5 for the half day and the parking lot is very close to bathrooms, showers, and the shuttle pick up spot. 9:30 rolls around and everyone rafting with the company will meet up at this picnic area under a big WET river sign and you'll get checked-in. NO LOCKERS. The guides will lock your car keys up in their office though, which is nice. But they will ask you to leave valuables in the car and return the keys to you once you return. Everyone hops on the shuttle for a 20-25 minute ride to get to the start of the river rafting spot. There are restrooms at this location and they'll get you the life vests, paddles, and a quick safety lesson before taking off. Before starting the rapids, the guides taught us how to row as a team and went over some commands. Our guide, Owen, was great, he was very knowledgable of the river, its history, and shared interesting stories. There's a section where they take photos of your raft during the rapids, it's $50 for all photos. You can pay through venmo, cash, or provide CC info. We tipped cash at the end but the company will text you a link later in the day for electronic tips as well. Overall, a great first white water rapid experience read more

I recently went white water rafting, and it was honestly one of the most exciting and refreshing experiences I've ever had. Honestly my review is a 4.7.out of 5. I am only subtracting points because of our long wait time at the end of the rafting trip to get towed to the pick up spot, otherwise, it was a great day! We pulled into the campground where the late 1/2 day rafting tour meet up spot was. It was a lovely place. The little store there had the regular small campground items and surprisingly a good selection of craft beer! I tried the Outlaw pilsner from Colorado (it's the name of one of my favorite line dances hee hee), it was a good one! The trip and our raft guide, MJ were great!! we did the 1:30pm-5pm trip, the amount of time was just right. Only bummer is that we waited a good 45 minotes at the end to be towed back to the pick up spot. Everyone Was done and ready to get off the water. I think if you could at least pull your rafters to a beach were they could wade in the water would be better than us sitting in the sun waiting in the sun. All and all, I would definitely recommend it and do it again:) read more

Had an amazing time on the full day Middle Fork of the American River trip. Our guide Walker was wonderful and managed to keep all six of us in the boat (no accidental swimming). They shuttled us 50 minutes from the meeting point to the launch point. We then spent a full day on the river, including lunch, and shuttled back when we were done. Great rapids, great people, and very professional guides. I purchased a Groupon for this activity so was able to save some money and book easily. Definitely recommend this company! read more

There are very few places on earth that I feel as peaceful as I do when I'm on the river. I have some experience but not enough where I want to insure my family is safe with my limited experience. That is why companies like this are so important and WET is the best at what they do. From my first contact booking a trip to saying bye to Hailey it was perfect. Chad helped answer initial questions and was so kind on the phone. Andrew drove super safe to our entrance point and was extremely friendly. Hailey is extremely natural at her job. She was not in a hurry and explained everything to my wife and I. It was like having an instant friend on the trip that we will remember forever. She knew the safety in and out and could explain to us what to do on the river without us feeling stressed. It was pure fun and we learned so much. Not only about rafting but also about nature. We saw an Osprey catch a fish then fly over our heads. That alone was worth the money. We will be back for sure and next time we will bring our older kids. What a great trip. My friend and our two sons went on a 1/2 day rafting trip with Bird the other weekend. We had so much fun! I also appreciated how cool and patient he was. It was a great day on the river, blazing hot at like 106. I was worried it was going to be too hot, but the river splashes cooled us off. We also got to jump into the water from a "cliff" (elevated rock. HAHA). We chose the 12:30 start, which allowed us to drive from the Bay Area without waking up before sunrise! It was the perfect time for us and the perfect run. There were exciting rapids and slower moments to chill on the river. If you are a beginner and planning to take a trip, I recommend WET River Trips. Also, if you're a beginner, here are some tips to prepare in advance. 1. Wear old athletic shoes or get a pair of river shoes online. 2. Order a disposable waterproof camera or case for your phone to bring. I didn't do this and wish I had. I am grateful I didn't just risk it and bring my phone though. If you can see the photo, you know we got WET. A ziploc with money and IDs in a pack we brought? ALL GOT WET, so don't risk just bringing your phone. 3. At the location in the little store, they sell the sunglasses/glasses attachment so you won't lose yours for $6. This is a much better deal than the $18 one Target had. 0_o 4. Plan to be sunburned OR wear a long-sleeve easy dry top/rash guard and a baseball cap (under your helmet). I usually would've burned, but I took these precautions (and reapplied sunscreen when we made a rest stop break) and after 3+ hours in the blazing sun, I was not burned. My son was, but you know how teens are. HA. I'm hoping to make this an annual trip. I'm grateful for the 1/2 day afternoon option, which makes the drive easier. However, maybe I'll try an overnight next time. read more
