Loved my experience at Activate! I had previously gone to one in Houston, Texas, and I was definitely not disappointed when I tried it out again in Scarborough. Everything was clean and although the rock climbing room was under maintenance, my friends and I had a blast and were definitely sweating and crawling to the vending machine after. The drinks are a bit pricy so if you're going, make sure to bring your own water bottle! They provide lockers for you and your group to use while you're busy running around. Happy activating!

We came here for my birthday and it was so much fun! Activate is a great place to go with a group, there's so many different activities that will get your heart rate up and bring out your competitive side! There's about ten rooms filled with different games like target throwing, memory games, basketball hoops, matching, running and dodging lasers to name a few. With the options of playing cooperatively in a group or competitively vs each other, the options are endless! The staff were great at explaining the rules before starting, facility was very clean. We went on a weekend so we did have to wait for some of the more popular rooms but it was no more than a five minute wait. Highly recommend!

Location This place is right on Eglinton, a little bit west of Warden. The sign is huge so you can't miss it - but do be mindful of the traffic due to all the LRT construction that's been happening. Limited parking is available, but every time I went, there are spots available since people come and go pretty quickly. Staff are friendly and nice - and explains the setup pretty well. It does get a little noisy inside, so it would be good to designate one person to pass on the info to others. Setup There are multiple rooms in the facility. Each room has a theme (basketball, climbing, lasers, grid, etc.). Each room has a different game setup of the theme (shooting lasers, laser maze or stepping grid by colour, stepping grid by numbers). Each game has levels 1-10 to choose from - obviously, you need to complete the lower levels to do more challenging ones. It is a coop setup - so you work together to achieve the targeted goal and advance to the next level. Very fun and totally very active that you will be sweating. No exercise background required - some are reflexes, some are aiming and some are just speed. Just have fun and find the game you like to repeat on. It's $25 for 75 minutes - which is more than enough, even better when there are less people during your time slot. Reco going early in the morning to avoid crowds. PS: some rooms do offer compete mode (grid, the eye). Explore that feature and you will even find more fun there!

Amazing experience! We went there as a group of 10 people, and had a lot of fun! My muscles were sore from so much running and jumping.

Note: This review will be updated with photos and videos. Activate has a collection of rooms, each hosting a different indoor interactive arcade-style game, involving minor to major physical activity levels. There are time-based games involving laser avoidance, laser targeting, pattern matching, puzzle solving, strategy, basketball throwing, soft ball throwing, sequence matching, etc. Each room has 3-6 variations of each game and 10 skill levels. These games are great for cardio and physical/mental agility; more fun than being in a gym. You must play in teams of 3 to 5 at $25 each for 75 mins. During pandemic times, you can have teams of 2 to 5. The staff are friendly and help to explain everything. There are also staff throughout the gaming hallway to help. You earn points to progress up reward levels 1 to 10  where you get prizes. You can play to earn points cooperatively or individually. Our family played cooperatively. Players get RFID wrist bans. You create or login to a player account based on your email address. Then associate your wrist ban to that account to collect game-play points. Your account is kept by Activate Canada so it can be used at each of their 3 locations (Burlington, Scarborough, and Wiinipeg). The points don't count at the 2 USA locations because they are franchised. Each team get a large locker to store their coats and valuables. There are 2 drinking fountains at the entrance to the game hallway. You can even fill up a water bottle if you wish. You go to the entrance of a room, select your game variation, skill level and tap your wrist band to identify each member. Then you wait up to 2 mins for another team to finish. As they are exiting, you can enter. You can maintain physical distancing between teams this way. After you finish your game, if you are successful in completing it and no other teams are waiting to use the room, you are offered an opportunity to go to the next difficulty level. Remember, you have a total of 75 mins to play. There are so many different games. The Scarborough location has 11 rooms with 3-6 variations and 10 skill levels (use your math skills!). You would love at least 75% of them; we certainly did! We've played at the Burlington location twice before and they have 13 rooms, farther spaced apart. Even children can enjoy it; we have an 8-year old son who has played with us 3 times and wants to return more often. But I do recommend being at least 3.5 feet tall. There are leaderboards showing the highest point earners at this Scarborough location and the highest point earners for today. We managed to get positions 17-19 today (2022-04-10), not bad when there were at least 50 people playing at the same time. During pandemic times, there are plenty of hand sanitizers throughout and staff thoroughly spray clean each room every hour. The wrist bans are sprayed after player return them. There is free WiFi.  The building is wheelchair accessible. There are separate male/female washrooms and one gender-neutral washroom, all of them are wheelchair accessible. There is free parking in a private parking lot shared with Staples next door. Unfortunately none of the games can be played by a person in a wheelchair. So why the wheelchair accessibility? Because any new buildings must be wheelchair accessible by law. Review 2022-046 You can also find me on Instagram @chuan_chee. Thanks.

This is a really fun place to try out with your friends. Be ready to sweat. I suggest bringing a water bottle since u will need to hydrate over the 75 mins or more that u spend here. Bring comfortable clothing and something to change to after as you will likely be soaked. The whole premise is there are a lot of rooms and each room has 2-5 game types to choose from. You and your friends try to pass the levels. They will entail throwing balls, avoiding lasers, shooting basketballs, rock climbing, solving puzzles, running around etc. they do have a locker provided as well. There are washrooms and a change room as well.

Activate is a really fun game room activity centre! You register at the front, get a wristband that'll be used to enter into rooms and track your stats, leave stuff in a large locker (included in price) and play. There are several rooms, each with a different activity theme (lasers, hoops, grid, etc) and 3+ types of games. The games are short so you're always moving onto the next level or another room without waiting very long to play.

I normally review restaurants but I thought this one was worth a 5 star review. Activate brings to Scarborough a high-tech playground, perfect for friends, families, adults - really any able-bodied person who wants a bit of a workout. Activate utilizes lights, sensors and other physical components to create games in a relatively dark space. As seen in the pictures, they get quite creative with it so it is always accompanied with easy to follow instructions on the touch screen and difficulty accommodating levels. The price right now is $28+tax for 75minutes, and you can play unlimited games during your allotted period, so you will be able to experience all Activate has to offer. The place gets a bit busy on weekends so you may have to wait for some games, but it's never more than a minute or two. Overall, Activate is a new kind of playground for everyone and the creative games will leave you wanting more!

It has many little disjoint puzzles which are somewhat challenging. Each puzzle is independent of the others, which allows for a group to split into smaller groups and solve the puzzles in parallel. The second room was The Lost Treasure (3/5 in difficulty). It was well thought-out and somewhat more challenging than advertised. The main room leads to a secondary room, and the main room is considerably more challenging. Both rooms were suitable for all ages. One of the great things about Enigma is that they allow you a lot of extra time. On both occasions they allowed us almost an additional hour to try to escape. They gave lots of clues, without taking away from the challenge. Moreover, the place is well maintained and it is clean. Keep up the good work.

It's a cozy place though with a few couches, coat racks, and lockers to store your belongings - oh, and the mandatory signs to hold up for pictures afterwards, of course. There are 7 different rooms here, 2 of which are horror themed. My team selected the "Godfather" with its 5/5 stars in difficulty rating, with the reason that we wouldn't be embarrassed even if we failed (i.e., a good excuse haha). Without spoiling anything, it gave us quite a run for our money! At first I had thought that the 9 people (maximum) we had in the small room would be overkill, but there were a few convoluted clues in there that had all of us circling around in confusion. It was only after 4 calls for hints later (hints are unlimited here - you'll need them) and with just 1 minute to go on the clock that we thankfully made our escape. Overall, everyone enjoyed the escape games, and the friendliness of the staff definitely contributed to the positive experience. Instructions were clear and the process was fairly efficient, although I felt they were somewhat understaffed as there was sometimes a delay in receiving hints - again, this was to be expected as we constituted a large group, but you'll appreciate my frustration when you're in the room staring in panic at the clock counting down on the wall. The price is reasonable given the location, recommended! :)

We had someone in our group that was deathly afraid of dogs and when she mentioned it to the first staffer, they responded that they were studio dogs so I guess that they were trying to imply that the dogs had a right to be there more than paying customers. This finally got sorted out after my friend almost stepped on the dog because she was so scared and was about to leave the building entirely. The entire time they just kept telling us they were studio dogs. I mean if the dogs could have been leashed the whole time I don't understand why they weren't? I actually felt like the dogs were for the staff and were just an excuse to have them at their place of work but they were kind of distracting. Second, our instructor was quite okay but they had 1 instructor for our group of 10 and another group of 5 so it was hard to get a lot of help for amateur artists. This was a very bad and lazy set up for a place that charges over $70 per person. All in all probably one of my worst experiences in Toronto and I definitely would not be coming back for my birthday as I originally intended.
