One of my favourite places to visit with my niece and nephews. The new location is fantastic and I love that there are so many more rooms and games compared to the old location. There's a great variety of challenges, and you'll definitely work up a sweat while having fun! My biggest tip is to book an earlier time slot and arrive right at opening. It tends to be less crowded, and the wait between rooms is much shorter, which makes the experience even better. I've been back multiple times and always have a great time. Activate located at Eglinton Town Centre near Eglinton and Lebovic Ave is an indoor gaming facility where players can move through interactive and immersive rooms to test their physical as well as mental skills. Activate is open daily and hours change depending on the day. Since Activate is located in a plaza, there is plenty of parking throughout. It is also accessible by the Eglinton LRT as well. I stopped by Activate for the first time recently with a party of 4 to enjoy some fun at the facility. We decided to go in the morning around 10am on a Saturday. It does get busier later in the day which can increase the time you'll need to wait for games as more people are in more rooms. Upon entering the facility, you pay for how many minutes of play you desire and collect your wristbands (one is a player wristband, the other is a locker wristband). If it is your first time there, there are stations where you can create a player ID and account. Before entering the play area, to the side there are some tables for you to rest. There is also a locker room with a bench as well as separate washrooms for females and males. There are water stations as well. It is best to wear comfortable shoes or running shoes as some rooms/games require you to move around quite a lot, which can work up a sweat. Games wise, the games are fast, which last only a few minutes, best played with a small group of players (2-5 people where 5 people is the maximum number of players). Each room also only allows one party to play at a time. Each room also has about 4-5 different games with different levels of difficulty. Before entering a room, a specific game is selected where everyone in the party scans their wristband by the door. This way, you can earn points or keep track of your high score for a certain game (getting a certain amount of points can allow you to redeem points). Once in the room, you can keep replaying the game as long as there is no other party waiting to play outside (if there is you'll have to exit the room as soon as possible). The games, all time-based, range from shooting hoops, dodging lasers, finding items, shooting targets, throwing balls, stepping on specific colours on a grid, the list can go on! The levels of difficulty within each game also vary making it more difficult to pass a certain level. There is definitely a game for everyone to enjoy. Within the games area, there is also a photo booth area where you can take photos with your party. Your photos are then digitally sent to your email as well. Overall, an interactive and immersive gaming facility where arcade-style games test your physical and mental skills! Activate is for all ages and is a fun activity to do in a small group. Activate is so so fun. Whenever I come here I always get very very sweaty lol. They have lots of different room with different activities that test your different abilities from hand eye coordination to reaction time to team work to speed and more. Great activity if you have a small group of friends. I came here multiple times sometimes just me and one other person or in a small group either one works. They also have a point system so you can win extra time or prizes like water bottle or a basketball. Whenever I come it's always a vibe. I will say on the weekend it is BUSYYYYY. You have to book, I would say to even book on a weekday to just in case. You can always do same day booking as well. It's $30 for 75 mins and I think an extra $12 for $30 or something like that. Make sure to come early to you have time to put your stuff away in the lockers ( they give you a locker and wristband to open it) and sign your waivers. Super fun and definitely worth it! read more

Loved my experience at Activate! I had previously gone to one in Houston, Texas, and I was definitely not disappointed when I tried it out again in Scarborough. Everything was clean and although the rock climbing room was under maintenance, my friends and I had a blast and were definitely sweating and crawling to the vending machine after. The drinks are a bit pricy so if you're going, make sure to bring your own water bottle! They provide lockers for you and your group to use while you're busy running around. Activate is a great place to go with a group, there's so many different activities that will get your heart rate up and bring out your competitive side! There's about ten rooms filled with different games like target throwing, memory games, basketball hoops, matching, running and dodging lasers to name a few. With the options of playing cooperatively in a group or competitively vs each other, the options are endless! The staff were great at explaining the rules before starting, facility was very clean. We've been once in the US, and found this to be comparable (in fact I believe Activate originated in Canada). In fact you get 75min here, vs 60 in the US so that was nice. Only complaint is that scanning in to rooms was sometimes buggy. It sometimes took multiple attempts to recognize our wrist bands. read more

Location This place is right on Eglinton, a little bit west of Warden. The sign is huge so you can't miss it - but do be mindful of the traffic due to all the LRT construction that's been happening. Limited parking is available, but every time I went, there are spots available since people come and go pretty quickly. Staff are friendly and nice - and explains the setup pretty well. It does get a little noisy inside, so it would be good to designate one person to pass on the info to others. Setup There are multiple rooms in the facility. Each room has a theme (basketball, climbing, lasers, grid, etc.). Each room has a different game setup of the theme (shooting lasers, laser maze or stepping grid by colour, stepping grid by numbers). Each game has levels 1-10 to choose from - obviously, you need to complete the lower levels to do more challenging ones. It is a coop setup - so you work together to achieve the targeted goal and advance to the next level. Very fun and totally very active that you will be sweating. No exercise background required - some are reflexes, some are aiming and some are just speed. Just have fun and find the game you like to repeat on. It's $25 for 75 minutes - which is more than enough, even better when there are less people during your time slot. Reco going early in the morning to avoid crowds. Fun interactive, team building, friendship building virtual game rooms that is good for all ages! I came here with a bunch of my friends, reservations highly recommended as it was a weekend afternoon and the place was packed! Lots of kids actually, compared to adults. On arrival, you check in at the front desk, they get you prepped with your group, assign you a locker, give you your wristbands and once your group is ready, they walk you through the process of checking into each game room. The games are super quick, probably 2-3 minutes each and if you want to replay a level (if no one is waiting for you outside), you can definitely do so. My only complaint of this place is that they really need to up their AC unit. Because each game room uses so much lighting, electricity and special affects, the place is HOT. There's a lot of bodies moving around inside the game room and also outside in the hallway so it is extra hot with all the body heat as well. Without even moving, everyone was sweating from head to toe. I guess it's a good work out though. Overall, the games are great. Each room has about 5-6 different variations of the game you can play. You play as a group with most games having a minimum of 3-4 players in order to play, so definitely cannot solo this. Activate has a collection of rooms, each hosting a different indoor interactive arcade-style game, involving minor to major physical activity levels. There are time-based games involving laser avoidance, laser targeting, pattern matching, puzzle solving, strategy, basketball throwing, soft ball throwing, sequence matching, etc. Each room has 3-6 variations of each game and 10 skill levels. These games are great for cardio and physical/mental agility; more fun than being in a gym. You must play in teams of 3 to 5 at $25 each for 75 mins. During pandemic times, you can have teams of 2 to 5. The staff are friendly and help to explain everything. There are also staff throughout the gaming hallway to help. You earn points to progress up reward levels 1 to 10  where you get prizes. You can play to earn points cooperatively or individually. Our family played cooperatively. Players get RFID wrist bans. You create or login to a player account based on your email address. Then associate your wrist ban to that account to collect game-play points. Your account is kept by Activate Canada so it can be used at each of their 3 locations (Burlington, Scarborough, and Wiinipeg). The points don't count at the 2 USA locations because they are franchised. Each team get a large locker to store their coats and valuables. There are 2 drinking fountains at the entrance to the game hallway. You can even fill up a water bottle if you wish. You go to the entrance of a room, select your game variation, skill level and tap your wrist band to identify each member. Then you wait up to 2 mins for another team to finish. As they are exiting, you can enter. You can maintain physical distancing between teams this way. After you finish your game, if you are successful in completing it and no other teams are waiting to use the room, you are offered an opportunity to go to the next difficulty level. Remember, you have a total of 75 mins to play. There are so many different games. The Scarborough location has 11 rooms with 3-6 variations and 10 skill levels (use your math skills!). You would love at least 75% of them; we certainly did! We've played at the Burlington location twice before and they have 13 rooms, farther spaced apart. Even children can enjoy it; we have an 8-year old son who has played with us 3 times and wants to return more often. But I do recommend being at least 3.5 feet tall. There are leaderboards showing the highest point earners at this Scarborough location and the highest point earners for today. We managed to get positions 17-19 today (2022-04-10), not bad when there were at least 50 people playing at the same time. During pandemic times, there are plenty of hand sanitizers throughout and staff thoroughly spray clean each room every hour. The wrist bans are sprayed after player return them. There is free WiFi.  The building is wheelchair accessible. There are separate male/female washrooms and one gender-neutral washroom, all of them are wheelchair accessible. There is free parking in a private parking lot shared with Staples next door. Unfortunately none of the games can be played by a person in a wheelchair. So why the wheelchair accessibility? This is so fun! What a unique one-of-a-kind gaming experience where you get your body and feet moving. This gaming facility has about ten rooms, each with varying activities, from throwing balls at lighted targets, dodging lasers to scoring points by stepping on colours that change on the floor. Games progress through increasing difficulty levels each round. Switch up the rules in each room by selecting a different game. It's challenging on the higher levels, though it's easy to score enough points for a free reusable water bottle at the end of experience. With a second time visit you may also score enough for your own personal wristband. It's best to enjoy this with adults, teens or older kids to get the full experience. How far you go is usually impacted by your weakest link. There is a locker to hold your valuables before you head in and be prepared to wear athletic clothing and shoes. The price is $25/pp for 75 minutes of gameplay and I got a workout at the end of the experience. Worth it, given ClassPass workout class can be that or more. For me, this is definitely more fun. There's also a photo area to take and send a pic to your email. I heard this place gets packed during the weekends, and often, there is a group behind you, so you can't play the same game back to back. It's only a few minutes to wait per round if the room you wanted to play is occupied. We went during the winter snowstorm (because we didn't want to lose our deposit), which was a blessing in disguise. We played multiple rounds back to back without interruption. Activate brings to Scarborough a high-tech playground, perfect for friends, families, adults - really any able-bodied person who wants a bit of a workout. Activate utilizes lights, sensors and other physical components to create games in a relatively dark space. As seen in the pictures, they get quite creative with it so it is always accompanied with easy to follow instructions on the touch screen and difficulty accommodating levels. The price right now is $28+tax for 75minutes, and you can play unlimited games during your allotted period, so you will be able to experience all Activate has to offer. The place gets a bit busy on weekends so you may have to wait for some games, but it's never more than a minute or two. Super fun for groups, a date, etc. I was fortunate enough to go twice in a month , once with a corporate group (during March Break - big mistake!), and once on a day date w my hubby. It is so much better when it's not busy and you're not getting kicked out of rooms constantly. It's super exhilarating and the challenges are nicely varied so you don't feel repetitive. Some of them were broken (both times I was there), but not enough to hinder the range of opportunities. Nice place for a group activity. You pay $25 for 75 minutes, and during this time, you can play mini-games in a dozen different rooms featuring different types of challenges/game modes. All games are limited to 5 people max, so if you're coming with more than 5 people, you'll have to split up into separate groups. Some rooms are more popular than others, so you might have to wait in line to get in depending on how busy it is. They limit the number of people in the facility at anytime (10 people per 15 mins, so max 50 people at anytime), so theoretically there's always at least one room available. Challenges include things like running around, climbing around, throwing balls, and pressing buttons. Each challenge comes with difficulty levels, and the further you progress, the more points you obtain. Hitting certain point ranks will unlock new tiers, which comes with rewards such as a water bottle, a shirt, a personal game tag, or even a lifetime discount. Wow! What a fun place this is! Activate is collection of rooms. In each room there is some basic equipment. One room has basketball hoops. Another has a laser maze, other rooms have LED lights on the floor. At the entrance to each room, you can select a game. For instance, in the basketball room, you can select a trivia game, where you are asked a question, and based on the answer, have to score a basket in the corresponding basket. Or you can play a game of Simon where you have to remember a colour sequence and sink a basket in the correct sequence. Each game is very simply explained on a screen before you enter the room, and you can select a game based on the explanation. There are 10 levels to each game. For every game that you complete, you earn points. The points are tabulated based on a wrist band that each player scans before they enter the room. Everything is completely automated, and runs smoothly. All games are a lot of fun. They require cooperation from each of the team members (up to 5 per team.) Some games can be challenging, especially at higher levels. Some games require a little bit of physical agility, some mental. For $25 per person, you get 75 minutes of activities inside the room. So fun!!! Came here twice already, first with a small group and then with a bigger group and both times I had a blast! It is definitely a place where you will be running in a lot of the rooms, with both cooperative and competitive games. 75 minutes goes by quick when you're jumping from room to room trying to get to a higher level for each game. We definitely were all breaking a sweat by the time our time was up. Highlights would have to be the grid room, laser room, and hide. However, all rooms are different and involve a lot of teamwork which is great to go with a group of friends/coworkers. That's exactly the thought I had when watching ads on Instagram, but luckily this place delivers! The games are so fun, super interactive, and is actually somewhat COVID friendly. How It Works You split up into groups of 3-5, meaning you get to play with your friends and do a switcheroo if you have a larger group. There are at least 8 different game rooms with different scenarios and difficulty levels. For 75 minutes, you can play as many rooms as you would like, and each game lasts around 1-2 minutes. Everyone is given a wrist band where you tap to play each room, and scores are tallied throughout your session so that rewards are aptly provided at the end. Secret: Most people get a water bottle after their first time. It's a super neat idea, because you can keep coming back for more, kind of like Laser Quest. These rooms will challenge your agility, coordination, and ability to memorize patterns. One downfall is for those who may be colour-blind. Service and Facility Given that we are all recovering from COVID isolation requirements, cleanliness is key. I'm happy that they provided hand sanitizers throughout the center, which is honestly a must with all the touching lol. Our group had masks on the entire time, and yes, sometimes we took it off to breathe LOL. One downer was that the facility's washroom was broken so we had to walk all the way to McDonalds. Also, one of the rooms wasn't working and your time continues to get deducted when something like this happens. Luckily, the staff gave us a 10% discount card for the inconvenience. Cool concept and very fairly priced. Came with a group of 4 on a Sunday at 2:45pm and we didn't have any issues with waiting too long for a specific room. Certain rooms like mega grid almost always had a group waiting in line, but understandably so. Each room has anywhere from 4-6 games available and you choose where to start. Levels start at 1 and go up to 10. Your group can choose to start at a higher level if you're up for the challenge and you get to play with your group as a team or competitive play.
