I've been dealing with shoulder pain for a half a year and a done PT along with stretches to try in strengthen and get the muscles around my shoulder working better. But it wasn't until I went to go see Brian, that thing started to turn around. There is noticeable differences after the first treatment, and then after the second treatment I was able to get back to doing much of the day-to-day activities I'm used to. He had given me stretches and strength exercises to help my shoulder (and my back) which I've been doing and I continue to see great Improvement in both areas. I'm not sure who this review will best suit: those who have never had chiropractic or those who have and need a new one. But I think I'll focus on the former. Suffice to say that chiropractic has undoubtedly gotten the short end of the stick in terms of "is this quack" or not side of things. So if you're new, you're probably trying to find someone you can trust and who will help allay your fears or concerns about this field...concerns that might make you unsure to try it. Dr. Gordon is profoundly empathetic and profoundly good at what he does. Though humble, you can tell he is a believer in himself, but he doesn't come across as an evangelist. His goal is less about why chiropractic is good, and more about why it'll work for you...specifically YOU. And once you start your session, you will begin to see why: it's his natural tone of voice, or his simple but clear explanation of what he's doing and why. You just discover, "I'm being taken care of here." He accommodates and but is quite deliberate in how he devises his path for your regimen: they are tailored to you and not to "patient a with symptom 3." He will review with you what symptoms you have and from there he goes forward. The kindness and empathy gets you in the door and gets your guard down. But it's the talent and serious devotion to his craft that will get you to tell your friends, "Man, I never realized that chiropractic was so helpful. Problems I've had all my life are resolved. I feel silly for waiting this long to seek this type of treatment." This isn't magic, of course. It'll just feel that way. Some of your friends might hear you say this and regard you with the same wariness that most have when they try anything that's unknown. Or, perhaps they were in fact the ones who recommended Dr. Gordon to you. And then, well, it'll be less I told you so and instead just the good feeling of knowing you helped a friend. Active Care Spine Center is a family run business. They are kind, efficient, clear in their communication and do this for the right reasons. I can't more highly recommend them. Dr. Gordon is my first experience with a chiropractor and my last. He is so caring and great at what he does that I could never go to anyone else. About a year ago I overexerted myself on a run and pulled a muscle in my right hip. It sounds simple, and yet it never healed and the searing pain just never went away. I stopped running altogether and lived with this pain for the next 10 months and went to multiple specialists, had three different MRI's (none of which showed any evidence of injury like a torn ligament), and underwent physical therapy during this time. None of it helped at all, and literally no one could tell me why a simple overexerted hip injury just wasn't healing on its own. It was super depressing and frustrating. A co-worker recommended that I try his chiropractor, Dr. Gordon, and while at first the idea of a chiropractor didn't really make any sense to me in terms of fixing a hip injury, I was at my wit's end and was willing to try anything at that point. I am so so glad that I went to Dr. Gordon. Immediately from our first meeting he listened to the entire history of my injury and everything that had been tried up to that point to heal it. He does not simply nod his head and say "uh huh, yup, okay" he really listens and cares about helping you! He felt very strongly that it was a simple lack of blood circulation in my hip that was preventing anything from healing in there, as the area is tight and sometimes just good old circulation can fix things. We started a treatment plan of multiple sessions where he did adjustments to my back and hip on top of acupuncture in the problem areas of my hip and 2 months later the pain was basically 90% gone and everything felt back to normal. I am running several miles a day again without any issues and there was a time when I thought might never run again. I am so grateful to Dr. Gordon and his treatments, he was the one that was able to heal me when no one else could. If you suffer from pain, give him a try. I am currently seeing Dr Gordon for Morton's Neuromas on both my feet. I have had a failed surgery with another doctor on one of my feet and I am currently in great pain when I walk barefoot and have great discomfort even when wearing shoes. My experience with this office so far has been excellent. The receptionists are extremely friendly and efficient. My appointments are always on time-I never have to wait. Dr Gordon is friendly, funny and gentle. His office is spotless, and his rooms are comfortable. They call the day before to confirm/remind you of your appointments, and are very accommodating with their schedule. Ok, I'm going to make this short and sweet. I'm 66 years old, a former college athlete (football/baseball) and pro athlete (football), and done stunt work in TV & Films for over 30 years. I've had every conceivable injury that can possibly occur to the back and the body. I've been to the best chiropractors since I was 13 years old for sports injuries and and all types of back caused pain. I've seen at least 75 different chiropractors, acupuncturists and acupressure doctors throughout CA and Hawaii through the years. The best I could find. Dr. Gordon is incredible! After a lower back injury a few years ago, I did everything that was recommended by my primary care physician - physical therapy, stretches, low impact exercise and two consecutive epidural injections. On my own, I saw a chiropractor near my office who wasn't sure what to do with me; I wasn't improving so he stuck me on a rolling table for 20 min, 3x a week and recommended that I see my PCP again. With very little progress, I made the decision to move forward with surgery and made the appt with my specialist. In a last ditch effort before committing to an invasive procedure, I decided to give chiropractic care one more shot and looked into providers in my area. In the first week, Dr. Gordon commented that a certain uncomfortable stretch would feel completely different in two weeks and I thought he was nuts! It turns out that he wasn't nuts - he just knows what he's doing and saw my potential for improvement when I had lost hope. After just a few weeks, I have felt such a dramatic difference. Its so crazy to think about how my back pain used to dictate everything I did. Now, I just feel normal - which is amazing! My treatment has included acupuncture, cupping, adjustments and an education on what I can do on my own time to help facilitate the healing process. I have reviewed Active Care Spine Center before and wanted to leave another review, once again. Dr Gordon is hands down the best chiropractor that I have ever seen. I'm writing this because it is well deserved. If I was selfishly writing , I would not leave a review at all, because my fear is that by writing another review like this will make him completely unavailable because of scheduling. That would be self serving. I do not "need" to see a chiropractor often, but if I ever have any issue at all because of misalignment , small spasm from falling asleep on sofa , or lifting something too heavy and next day can't move, Dr Gordon is the right Dr to see. He is always on point about his diagnosis and treatment / adjustments. He gets an A++ in my book, hands down. Also, treats patients with much respect , great dr/ patient bedside manner. I have seen chiropractors for my entire life, and I think the world of them. Unfortunately, I tweaked my neck on a Saturday, and on Sunday it was worse. My regular chiropractor is on vacation (of course), and a friend recommended Dr. Gordon to me. I left Dr. Gordon's office a voicemail on Sunday about my pain, and the first thing Monday morning, Caroline calls me back. She couldn't have been nicer, and although they do not take my insurance, I raced over to see them at 10am. She was waiting for my arrival with the usual forms to fill out, but welcomed me with a warm greeting. Dr. Gordon was not only patient and understanding of my neck pain (of course he has seen this before), but he took his time with me to determine the best course of action to help solve my excruciating pain. I was there for over an hour being treated with acupuncture, cupping, adjusting, him massaging and working on pressure points, etc. It was the most thorough exam I have ever had, and he even gave me "homework" of exercises to work through the pain. To top it off, he is so friendly and great to converse throughout. I am so thankful for my recommendation to call, but I am even more thankful for Dr. Gordon to help alleviate my neck pain. I started coming to see Dr. Gordon about 4 months ago after a bad muscle sprain/strain. I did acupuncture and chiropractic in the beginning and weaned off to just do chiropractic every few weeks.
