All I could think about was how I was finally going to score those famous Honey Deuces. Instagram had hyped it up so much that I made it my mission to grab one as soon as we got inside. Lol. We were a party of 8 and went all in on the Honey Deuces... only to end up disappointed. They were way too sweet, and after a couple sips, we gave them away and switched over to Aperol Spritz instead. The only catch is that they weren't freshly made but poured from pre-bottled mixes. Not ideal, but with a crowd that massive, I get why they do it. As for the matches, we got to see both women's semifinals: Sabalenka vs. Pegula and Osaka vs. Anisimova. I'll leave the deep tennis commentary to the pros but for me, it was more about the atmosphere. With the roof closed because of rain, the stadium felt like a giant echo chamber in the best way. Every cheer bounced around, the energy was nonstop, and just being part of that crowd was unforgettable. Overall, it was such a fun night , drinks and food aside, the US Open lived up to the hype, and being there in person was an electric experience I'll never forget!

Getting here utilizing the MTA is convenient. Tickets can be purchased in advance on the official website. Your ticket options are grounds, Authur Ashe (day of night), and Louis Armstrong. Getting a grounds ticket will only give you access to outer courts and not into the Authur Ashe or Louis Armstrong. The main day and night matches are held in the Authur Ashe Stadium. If you are an AMEX card holder, stop by one of their booths to pick up a complementary radio earpiece. You'll get a play by play and additional commentary during the main matches. Going to the US Open is an all day event. Plan on spending the entire day here for the full experience.

Even…read morethough he had competed in the Junior Olympics when he was younger, I decided anyway to come here and try out my ability. We both live in Flushing near Main St., so NYISC was a perfect place for us to travel to. The club inside was spacious and clean. Some of the staff greeted us as soon as we walked in and gave us a thorough and in-depth description of all the membership services and fees for ping pong games/coaching. The actual tables are professional-grade, and there are actually plenty of them spread throughout an enormous indoor facility. I liked the feel of the high ceilings while I played (or at least ATTEMPTED to play haha). Even though this place was popular on a weeknight around 7-8pm, the size of the facility didn't make me feel cramped. Checking out the rest of NYISC, I saw an indoor soccer field - which is a rare sight in a place such as Flushing. I don't play soccer, but I would recommend this space for soccer teams and friends looking to play a match or serious game. My boyfriend and I also wandered to the 'Pro Shop' in the sports club. They sold all different professional ping pong products from brands such as Butterfly (famous ping pong product manufacturer). We didn't purchase anything, but I did sign up for private lessons with one of the renowned & accomplished coaches. The pricing was for a set of 10 lessons and were more than affordable. The coaches were all world ranked, and have competed in Olympics, etc. Maybe one day I'll be able to at least keep up in a game with my boyfriend, lol. LAST THING: People here are very open and friendly. If you come on a weeknight like us or a weekend, there will always be staff to help you and fellow players/students to meet/interact with :) One person saw my extreme lack of ping-pong skills and kindly helped me out a bit the first time I came to NYISC -___- lols I will definitely be returning

The hour goes by so quick each week and I find myself wanting to play even more now. They also have a very large parking lot, a small shop inside where you can buy balls/snacks/etc., and a discount for members who join the adult clinic. I had some private lessons here with my friend/tennis coach. Everyone here is very friendly as they all seem to know each other. They also have a parking lot which is a huge plus in convenience. The courts are clay which is awesome. I'm used to playing outdoors so the clay was a pleasant surprise. The facility is very clean and the community is very encouraging. This is my go to location when the weather is sub par. Make sure you call in advance to reserve court time. There's only a few courts (maybe 5).

Court sprinklers wet the benches which are never wiped down so coats and belongings get soaked. Court fees are charged but users have to pay additional fee to town to use parking lot so many park on road. It's a long walk in. No round robins, public clinics, etc. so either have your own group to play or drill with or no options (even for town residents). Could be so much more.
