Inept and unprofessional, don't waste your time. Took my Subaru in for transmission issues and have had to take it back THREE times in less than a year because the work wasn't ever done right. Never any paperwork despite asking point blank multiple times, just that the gal at the front will "get it Had a tech even offer to leave the keys in so I could claim it on insurance when it was stolen. Not cool. It failed a fifth time two months after the last re-repair and I was so bummed, I took it to the dealer, who said it was two quarts low on transmission fluid. No leak, just blatant neglect on the part of Active Transmission. It's failed again now and the shop owner just complains about how much he's spent on this job and dodges phone calls. Unprofessional. NotA transmission shop should be able to repair transmissions. Don't bother going there, they can't do what their sign outside says. Updated 10/2019: a year later and it's still the transmission having issues that never lessened. Took it to a Subaru specialist and found some interesting art on what Active Transmission "repaired." They didn't repair it. Just took the money and drew lewd pictures on my car. Don't take anything to these people. They are garbage. read more

I take my business and family vehicles here for service. My transmission case cracked on a biz vehicle so I took it here of course. They had it done in a reasonable amount of time and it works great! Well, I purchased my Transmission for my 06 Ram on 4-19-15. (Less then 3 years ago). Since it was repleced, I have had issues with it overheating and leaking. I took it back to these guys a couple of times to express my concerns. I was told that they could not find anything wrong with it. After the last time they looked at it, I was basically left to fend for myself as I was told they would charge me to fix the leak. What about the warranty??? Fast forward the clock to July 4th 2017. I was Hauling my inlaws pull trailer back to their house when all of a sudden, in the middle of a steep hill, the transmission blew up!. I should clear a couple things up. This is a 2006 Ram 3500 Duel. (So needless to say, it is built for towing). I do not regularly tow with this Truck. When I do, it has not been anything rated over 6000lbs. Each time my transmission overheats. This truck should tow over 15K no problem. Anyway, I would warn anyone thinking about getting there transmission fixed at this shop to beware. The Dodge transmission specialist I took it to said thought it looked like the torque converter was stock, and the parts used were not high performance like I was told. I have tried several times to contact Lenny, the owner of this shop and he doesn't return any of my calls. BEWARE!!! 7-9-17 I am having a new transmission installed BUMMER!! read more

Poor communication. We were referred by another mechanic because they specialize in transmissions. They were friendly at first but they never gave us an update and kept saying it would be done but at the end of each day it wasn't. It turns out they couldn't figure out what the problem was. When we said that we needed the car by a specific time (more than a week after they first said it would be done) one employee was condescending and rude. We ended up taking the car back unfixed and it drove much worse. After taking the vehicle to a dealer the shop had installed some sensors incorrectly which caused the car to drive poorly. Overall poor customer service. read more

i brought my 04 f-250 in for a new trans and torque converter since then they have had to replace it three times. now..... i need a forth one. wont return calls. says, and i have this on camera that he will not be doing anymore warranties.. when he offers a 3 year 30k mile warranty.. now i cannot move my camper or my boat or my family out of this state.. then if i don't receive a reply within a week a small claims will be filed. Absolutely the worst place to bring your car. I brought in my car because it was overheating after whenever I drove more than 30-45 minutes. They called me back and told me that the problem was caused by a cracked radiator and that a wire on the alternator was sparking. The service advisor told me that it would cost $700-800 (I don't recall exact amount) to fix the wire and the overheating problem. I agreed to the repairs and the next day I picked up my car and drove around for the next few days without incident but the first time I drove it over 45 minutes the car over heated again only this time It didn't just overheat this time it blew the engine. When I called back to complain about this the service advisor hung up on me. I had the car towed back to the shop to fix it. They told me that the problem was an intake manifold gasket had blown and that the problem was unrelated to the repair. Intake manifold gaskets blow as a result of overheating and if the repair had been done properly I can see no way that it would have blown out. The shop refused to pay for the damages to my car or for the tow in to the shop They did however try to charge me $3000.00 to repair the blown head gasket caused by the mechanic not fixing the overheating problem correctly. Upon reading my bill I discovered that the alternator wire had not been repaired but the whole unit had been replaced at my expense. This angered me even further because the part had a lifetime warranty and I could have replaced it for free. When I brought this up the advisor said to me "oh now your just making stuff up" Not kidding. When I asked to see the old part they refused to show it to me. I have never been treated so poorly by a company in my life. One of my greatest regrets is that I did not sue them for what they did to me. There is no doubt in my mind that I would still be driving that car today if the repair had been done correctly. If you have a repair done by these people pray nothing goes wrong because they will probably leave you out to dry the way they did to me. read more

This garage probably did good work (though time will tell) but the end cost was way more than we anticipated or were informed of. Big surprise when I pulled out my checkbook. The receptionist told us the guy even gave us a $400 discount because "it was going to be more than you wanted to pay." Excuse me, but that's for the customer to decide. My experience with garages is that they call once they have an estimate, to let the customer okay that work, especially when the amount is high. This one didn't and I won't go back. read more

I had a great experience with this place. The owner, Leonard, was very nice and fixed my car up nicely. I had my transmission rebuilt. My car was running horribly and I needed either a new car, or a transmission. I met with Leonard and he put me at ease through the whole process. There was a small issue and I didn't get my car back as fast as I had planned, bur he kept me constantly updated and when I picked my car up he had washed it and it was clean! I actually brought my car back in today (he had told me to come back in after a few hundred miles to check for leaks, and to make sure my transmission was running well) and he looked it over and drove it around and seemed very confident in my car's new ability( and his work)...and I will have to add that my car now drives like a brand new car. I am so happy. I will continue to use Leonard and his services here. I will also continue to recommend this place to people as well. Thank you guys!!! read more

These guys will rip you off. They could not get my car right. I took it back over and over, still is not right. They were nice at first, but after the third time of me bring my car back they became unprofessional and were at a loss of why they couldn't get it.Everything from not checking there work, transmission pan was leaking all over, wheel well on driver side fell out of my car while on a busy street. Shifting hard because of wrong fluid... Name it, it happened. The worst experience I have ever had... beware, they are shady at best and should not be in business. read more

The service at Active Transmission And Gear was the worst I've ever seen. I brought my vehicle in with a transmission overheat problem. It is an off road vehicle and has an "engine and transmission conversion", among other modifications (lift kit, skid plates, ect...). A Chevrolet engine and transmission. I soon got a call from the idiot running the place and he told me that they found many transmission codes in the computer and alot of friction material in the pan and that I would need a rebuild. I agreed to the estimated price and told them that I would like some of the weaker parts upgraded because this was an offroad recreational vehicle. He agreed and said it was no problem. A couple hours later, I got a call from the same idiot and he said that it was going to cost about $300 to $400 more because his "tech" was having trouble getting the skid plate off ( this should have been off already if he found friction material in the pan). I agreed to the price because I am very busy and just don't have time to deal with this transmission problem. They got the transmission rebuilt and called me to tell me that I would need a new starter because the "tech" broke the old one. I told them to fix it and I would come pick it up. They got the rebuilt transmission installed ( a couple days late) and I picked it up. I drove the vehicle for about 45 minutes and the transmission died on me ( went into limp mode and wouldn't go into 3rd gear). By this time the shop was closed and it was the weekend, so I dropped it back off there at 4:30 am on Monday morning ( to beat traffic because I had no third gear). I contacted the idiot running the place when they opened and explained to him what had happened. I also explained that I was scheduled to take the vehicle out of town later in the week. He said no problem and that they would fix it. For the next 5 days I called them constantly trying to find out when it would be ready. They never would call me back to let me know that they were working on it. The idiot running the place was just giving me the run-around acting like they were working on it. Come Friday, I finally get a call. He says that they couldn't figure it out, but all the new codes were cleared and everything was normal, come pick it up. I get there and he tells me what they did to it ( 2 tests that take less than an hour). I go to drive away and I again have no 3rd gear. I immediately turn around and go back. They scan the computer and find new codes. At this point I am so frustrated that I just leave ( they couldn't push me out the door fast enough). Went and bought a scan tool and read the codes again. Now I have more new codes that point to the speed sensor as my problem. I took the skid plate off (which only took 30 minutes) I removed the sensor, and the wiring just fell apart ( was clearly damaged when they worked on the transmission). Took me an hour to figure this out and they had it for a week and gave up. Now that is ridiculous. Do NOT bring your vehicle to these people. They are the most unprofessional shop that I have ever dealt with and the "techs" apparently do not have much experience. This was a very expensive mistake for me to bring my vehicle to them and I would NEVER go back there ( even for my warranty). Do yourself a favor and call someone else!! read more
