Most of the reviews I see for this building are from years ago, complaining about previous managers. Quite frankly, they made me hesitant to check it out. That's really a shame. The current manager is Betsy. She's been great. She really cares about the building, and the tenants. Very friendly, and responsive. The building is clean, and well maintained. I've been renting a storefront space at ActivSpace just over a year. Our property manager was a bit under-informed/not the greatest customer service manner in the beginning, but shortly after we signed our lease, Dustin came on as a property manager, and he's been fantastic. We haven't had any big issues, and all the small ones have been addressed in a super timely manner. His attitude is always warm and welcoming, and he's very approachable whether he catches us in the parking lot or we run into the office. The unit itself is great. We're using it for podcasting, and for the most part it's pretty quiet. The walls are floating walls, so sometimes louder noise can come through, or the sound of rain on the roof can come through, but the space is simply great. It's been amazing that we've been able to customize it as we've needed. The community has been very friendly and pleasant. Parking can be a bit of a struggle at times as it's first come first serve, but it's pretty rare in the year I've been here that I haven't been able to find space. Payment in the beginning was only check or money order, but now they've opened it up to credit cards (with a $5 fee) so that's been much more convenient. I would definitely recommend this property to my friends looking for a little space for their creative endeavors. read more

ActivSpace on Lovejoy was perfect for a small art studio. It was clean, well managed, safe, and affordable. The spaces are nice and quiet and all building tenants are courteous and friendly. Pretty horrible all-around here at Activspace: - Run by a bunch of face-less robots in Seattle who only care about making money and their bottom line and not taking care of their buildings or their tenants - I was a tenant for 8 months in 2015, 3 months of that there were no onsite managers to take care of tenant issues - Parking is allowed in the first-come-first-serve parking lot, but is NOT managed or monitored by anyone. So, often, the parking lot was full with non-tenants or clients of tenants. And then tenants (like the Range Rover guy), would just park all day in the breezeway/loading zone and again, no one managed this or monitored it. - When I (and several other tenants) raised concerns about the parking to the Ops Manager in Seattle (Larry Klatt), he basically said if I had issues then Activspace wasn't the place for me. - Ok thanks Larry - I moved out. - Overall the interior, common spaces are never cleaned and are therefore dirty, unprofessional-looking, etc. - Yuck, just would never rent here again - and yes, there ARE other, more affordable spaces around town! read more

The managers at this location changed 4 times while I was there, and all of them lied to me while looking right at me! They do as little as they have to for you , and tell you one thing to your face and then lie to you in an email about the same thing. They try to keep your deposit for any reason. The place is not well kept as the even the elevator doors are filthy and they never clean up outside. they continue to raise the prices of these micro spaces, to the point of being way over priced now. never knew what the building was until I called and came down for a first Thursday event. Creative spaces full of artist and entrepreneurs. Fun and friendly atmosphere where pets are allowed to come to "work" with you. Management was friendly and seemed very supportive of the tenants. You can tell there is a lot going on but everyone I met was fun. Makes me want to think up a new idea or pull out my crafting supplies and start something new. Highly recommend to others for art projects, small office space outside of the house, there were even many mini-salons. Adorable. Betty! read more

I am one of those people who could not get a refund of the deposits I made at 1720 NW Lovejoy, where I rented an office from 2002-2016. Activspace calculated the amount they were willing to refund, but sent me a check made out to the wrong name, and refused to re-issue the check in my name. It was a frustrating experience dealing with the Seattle office from Portland. Activspace did not or would not examine the documentation I mailed them showing that I had paid these deposits (Activspace required a second deposit because it had raised the rents, and therefor, could). read more

I have been a renter at Activspace for about 4 years now. It's great for when you are first starting out in the business world. The room is your canvas and you can change the flooring, walls, etc! You do have to change it back when you leave, but I'm not leaving anytime soon!i have realized it's also great just to stay put because my rent is so low compared to other places in town and with everyone deciding to up rent just because they can. Activspace includes all utilities except Wifi. Noel is now the new manager and I LOVE HIM! He keeps on top of keeping the property clean and running efficiently. He's very approachable when you need something and is so friendly and professional. My neighbors are all great and it makes me love coming to work! read more

I have been a renter at ActivSpace for about 4 months. I was between salons that I worked at and found this wonderful space to rent on a short term lease. The manager, Noel, is the best! The space itself is really great, too. Clean, lots of bright light, utilities and such are included. I'm going to truly miss my little spot here and seeing Noel and my neighbors every day. BTW, parking is first come, etc, I've only had to park on the street 2x in 4 months! ActivSpace, if I'm ever again between jobs, I'll be back here in a flash! Vicky's review is spot on. The sparrows nest in the building and the outside hand rail has bird poop on it all year round. You make improvements and then when you give notice, as defined in the lease, they say you took their equipment. Homeless people sleep in your doorway. This place is one to avoid at all costs. read more

I came to ActivSpace last year and shared a unit with a freind... 12 months later I went on my own and began renting a hobby space for myself. I enjoy this location as it's an easy walk from my home and it's an amazing rental space, from the unit itself, to maintenance of the building. The rent includes the unit, electricity, heat, nice window, a bright light, blinds, and a sink, and men's/ladies room on each floor...you have 24/7 access with fobs and an elevator. Currently the manager is a positive nice guy, Noel, who Is wonderful and so on top of things, acting more like a business owner.... I hope the activspace owners realize how nice a guy he is...thorough, competent, dependable, honest and trustworthy! I really appreciate noel being at this location the best manager ever at Activspace that I've encountered as he's got a genuine caring demeanor! Also I've met some nice fellow renters running small businesses business. One wish for Activspace would be the ability for the company to accept prepayment greater then one month at a time and by paper check which is their only way of accepting monthly rents. read more

DO NOT RENT FROM ACTIVSPACE!!! When we moved out, Chris (the "Vice President") came in once to check our room after we had painted, asked us to give the walls a second coat. He came back the next day after we had applied the 2nd coat, visually inspected the room and ok'd the painting we did before moving out. We received our deposit back 45 days later with $528.89 taken out for painting and $25 for cleaning. We were fuming. I went to the space and spoke with Leah who was very friendly and she let me back into our room to inspect the painting. From what I could tell there was no painting done (I have photographs from before AND after). We had left the room spotless after moving out and it was absolutely crushing to lose that money for a small business. BEWARE OF ACTIVSPACE!!! It is a racket and they will take your deposit. If I could leave 0 stars I would! I will be calling the BBB and filing a complaint. read more
