It's such a relief knowing that when something needs fixing, they're on it without delay. The leasing office team, Harrison and Hillary, are also amazing. They're both incredibly nice, professional, and consistently on top of everything. They genuinely care about residents and go out of their way to make the living experience here positive. The difference in management has been night and day. I'm really happy with the team in place now--it makes a huge difference in feeling at home here!!

Waking up to these incredible views while having easy access to all of Portland via highway 84 or the Max stop at our doorstep gives you a sense that you're at the center of it all. The location is the perfect mix of urban living while benefiting from the less chaotic pace of a suburban neighborhood. Among my favorite characteristics is the diversity of the neighbors which have all been incredibly warm. This may be that a large percentage of them are dog owners and are naturally outgoing and conscientious. It makes for a great vibe while out on the terrace or spending time in the spa. The staff at Aster tower deserve a resounding accolade. I've experienced nothing short of professionalism from all of them, and they are a welcome sight at the front desk. I've been a huge fan of my apartment layout and the smart design that dots the space. With the recent heat wave Portland was experiencing temperatures of up to 116 degrees. My saving grace is that all our units have air conditioning. This is a rarity in Portland even in new developments. It will certainly come to be an important feature in the coming years. As I post this review I'm rather amiss about Megan's review below. Perhaps this is their first foray into adulthood and they have never come across a lease agreement before but Hassalo is very upfront about the $165 a month parking space. A charge that is comparable to the vast majority of buildings I came across in my search -- if not cheaper. Did they not tour the handicap accessible apartment before signing? Rather bizarre that you accepted a living space only to complain about it in a public forum as if it was forced upon you. Aster Tower is definitely worth your consideration and if you're on the fence I would recommend you take the plunge.

Astor Tower: The worst experience I've had in PDX…read more You will hear every move your neighbors make. You will hear them moving, playing music, laughing, and banging about. I've had to report multiple neighbors playing metal so loud I could hear it from the elevator, hallways, and inside my apartment. Each time (must have been a dozen), someone would come up, knock on the door, passively ask to "please turn down the music somewhat" and go about their business with zero repercussions on the resident. Zero consequences only encourages this inconsiderate behavior. After comparing notes with other residents, this seems to be a way of life at Astor Tower. The halls and elevators constantly smell of weed. Disgusting. Leasing is incredibly passive aggressive. Even more than PDX standards. It's clear they're there to cash their checks and give residents lip service instead of resolving conflicts. Rent is OBSCENE for the area. There's nothing there. Businesses left since COVID. People park their low rent cars way too close to luxury ones. Note - they don't care if you're driving a Mercedes. They still park too close. Gross. Random people are always in the lounge, taking over with loud birthday parties and game nights. Go to your own apartments! Or better yet - go out to someone else's house. Don't interfere with those who have to live in close quarters and can HEAR EVERYTHING. Stay away from Astor Tower / Hassolo buildings. Hassalo - if you attempt to pull down my honest review again (I know it was you guys), I will report you. Stop the nonsense. Fix your problems. Your goal should be more five star reviews, not hiding your inability to manage property.

Giving five stars overall, since most of the space is dedicated office spaces. Day passes: $35 for the day, $25 for half-day Very nice space, with the usual co-working amenities (free coffee, tea, water, wifi), numerous power outlets, and modern interior decor with some nice unique touches, like fresh flower bouquets on some tables, an abundance of natural light everywhere, and a coffee station on the first floor even though the kitchen is on the second floor. The general area is not as large as their Pearl District location. There's two kitchens, with refrigerators for use by everyone to store things. There's indoor bicycle storage(!) which is available to day pass users as well. If you get one of the dedicated office spaces on the second or third floor, the views are quite lovely. The only issues that makes this 3.5 stars for general members and day pass users involve the fishbowl effect of the space and the ergonomics of the chairs. Most of the open areas for general members/day pass users are very visible to the outside, with floor-to-ceiling windows. There's a somewhat more secluded space in the back with space for maybe eight people. This would make me nervous if I were doing work that was more private or if I was worried about leaving my stuff in the open to go to the bathroom, etc., the front door is unlocked and opens directly into the general member areas. Granted, the front desk person is there most of the time, but it's still a bit concerning for me. The second thing is for my back--the chairs in the general member/day pass areas are not ergonomic/adjustable office chairs, so it becomes difficult to work all day in them. In the very least, something adjustable height and even a lumbar pillow I can borrow from the front desk would be lovely. I was here briefly during their first week in operation, so there are some very minor glitches here and there, like not having those black little stirring things for tea/coffee, only half-and-half as the dairy option for your coffee/tea, and so on, but nothing that seems like an issue that will persist as they refine their space. Bathrooms: Clean, modern design, very functional, quite lovely, overall.

However, if you have a car and are not considering a parking space at a nearby parking lot, do not live here. The car stacker breaks so much that multiple residents have had to crack the code and figure out how to fix the stacker on their own when it's afterhours or a weekend. It has made me late to work multiple times, and while they do reimburse ubers, it takes them like a month to process so it's impossible to maintain if you're not loaded. One of the stackers broke so bad that they had to permanently stop it and pull everyone's cars out. And if you get lucky and the stacker isn't broken, the gate breaks halfway and it takes them hours to fix that. Do not recommend for any drivers.

For awhile I wondered if my emails kept going into their spambox or if I wasn't on their email list, but now I'm pretty sure they're just unresponsive and I feel like I have to call or visit in person if I have questions. We pay a ton of money to live here and the poor communication is pretty unacceptable. There were two Fridays in a row where I got up early to shower and the water was off. No email or announcement or anything, I had to reach out to find out they were servicing the building. Last night I tried to use an elevator and neither one was working. The common area has been closed for covid even though there is an outdoor space where we could safely distance. Indoor dining is even open in our county, but they haven't provided the rules for the common area reopening.  We pay for that area still, so pretty frustrating to have no communication about it. Meanwhile, I see residents across the street at Modera safely exercising and distancing in their common space. The rooms are nice and relatively quiet, but for what we pay I would expect way better basic communication with residents.

Yeah I did still look around for other options but this still beat all of them without a doubt. The rooms are absolutely amazing! My favorite features are the hardwood floors, high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, and the excellent security, especially the package room. Even though I lived in a studio, the space feels much larger because of the big windows. The natural light that floods the room is incredible, and I love it! That said, there are a few things I wish were different. For instance, I wish the 1+ bedroom units also had hardwood floors, the showers were walk-in instead of tubs, and the washer/dryers were updated (they look a bit outdated but still work great). Despite these minor dislikes, everything else more than makes up for it. The leasing office team, Rhea and Kennedy, along with the concierge, Robert, are incredible and always a joy to talk to. They go above and beyond to help with anything you need. Another huge plus is the location! The building is situated right next to the MAX train, with one side taking you to the Portland Airport and the other side to the Hillsboro Airport. If there is an availability, I would consider this place for anyone!

At 1:55 three members arrived back and I informed the manager I had an appointment to which the manager (Kristen) stated that must've been AI generated and someone would be with me shortly. Daja arrives and says hi Terrence, sorry for the wait. So the fact that she knew my name without me saying it lets me know you did know you had an appointment to see a unit and chose to blow it off. I go on the tour and she had a flat affect, not rude, but certainly not pleasant. I toured the unit only because I waited and paid for parking. It is irritating to deal with unprofessional behavior. If the manager who apparently does not understand how to run the leasing department, she should not be there. And for $3k for an apartment, perhaps be pleasant to a future resident.

The following is a summary of the issues, which have been thoroughly documented with photographs, videos, and correspondence previously sent Department of Justice and BOLI. Summary of Grievances Our tenancy was marked by three core themes: Prioritizing Cost Over Tenant Health: Management made deliberate decisions to use inadequate solutions for serious issues like mold, directly endangering our health. This included instructing a contractor to not perform necessary work and then terminating them for communicating this to us, which constitutes retaliation. Exploitative and Manipulative Tactics: We were subjected to what can only be described as "colonial slumlord practices," including a lack of transparency in rent charges and a communication system designed to create delays and obstacles at our expense. Disrespectful and Dismissive Communication: The unprofessional and insensitive tone in your team's communications revealed a pattern of disrespect and a dismissive attitude toward our serious concerns. Racial Discrimination An MG Properties employee selectively enforced parking rules, assisting a white tenant with an issue while refusing to provide the same assistance to my husband. Your contracted plumber stated that the management's lack of urgency in addressing unsanitary living conditions is disgusting. The offer of a mere $200 gift card or the "option" to move out in response to a significant mold infestation was insulting and grossly inadequate, reflecting a discriminatory disregard for our health and safety. This is paticularly concerning given the CEO of MG properties list " Mark Gleiberman is the founder and CEO of MG Properties, a leading real estate investment firm that currently owns and operates over 32,000 apartment units totaling over $10 Billion in value across six western states. Over his three decades as CEO of MG Properties, Mr. Gleiberman has built a generational wealth creation strategy and delivered exceptional performance, capital protection, and tax benefits to its investors, wealth managers, and institutional partners." We have reason to believe you are engaging in redlining by offering different rental rates to white tenants versus the inflated price we were charged. Simply based of the land historic systematic racism that has been prevelant in NE portland. During a unexplainable event, police were called and a PPB officer drew a gun on my husband, stating, "is it a black male?" when he opened the door to check what was going on in the halls. This occurred after hours of silence from management and a lack of any information. Negligence and Failure to Maintain Habitable Conditions The property has a chronic management turnover, with five rotations of management in one year, creating a lack of accountability. Mold has re-emerged in the same location, indicating a failure to properly remediate the initial problem. In addition when the intial mold remediation attempt started a contractor told me it is best to remove the island but Ben a representative of Axcess 15 at the time told him no its too expensive. After that contractor was called down to the office he was never seen again, which is retaliation. We experienced multiple severe maintenance failures with no communication from management, including a burst pipe, frequent sewage backups into our kitchen sink, and extended fire alarms. The dangerously tight and poorly designed parking situation remains a daily safety hazard.

The entire property like trash and the property management company employees park in the single handicap spot so the actual people who need to park there can't. The employees you will find digging through the trash at night because the management company doesn't pay them enough. They have to steal cans when no one is looking.
