After I purchased my second home in 2001 I was so disappointed by the process (my agents for both homes) that I decided to obtain a Realtor license myself and helped several friends purchase homes the following year. As a successful Salesman in my primary job, I put high value in attention to detail, integrity, follow-up, market knowledge, honesty and putting clients' needs/priorities first. My expectations for the individual facilitating the LARGEST financial transactions that I undertake are VERY high. I absolutely HATE to be "sold". The next two homes I purchased were similarly marginal experiences. Admittedly, I was somewhat "jaded" when I reached out to Tim. Tim and I come from a similar, highly technical, sales background so I immediately appreciated his thoughtful, thorough and insightful approach. I was looking for a very specific property and over the course of the year that we worked together I made 3 offers on homes prior to purchasing this property. This included one home that I had under contract and required extensive inspections and inspection extensions. They Did not offer any staging advice whatsoever. The pictures from their "photographer" were abysmal. They acted like I was crazy when I complained. They promised new pictures but it never happened. We were also promised a virtual tour and a cd copy. Never happened. A broker open house or something would have been nice, but we received almost no marketing. Other realtors expressed surprise at the lack of marketing for our home. After our house sold, we never heard from them again. I mean, never. You just made a ton of money off us and did no work, the least you could do was write a thank you note. I am pretty sure most real estate agents extend this courtesy when a house sells. There are a ton of real estate agents in Vancouver. Use someone else who might actually do a little work to sell your home.
