Visited here well before taking on the Find A Grave hobby. Wanted to see the grave Davy Crockett's second wife. In driving to the cemetery, I found a beautiful piece of property stretched before me. There were plenty of memorials to peruse. I quickly found what I was looking for and stood in awe and wonder. Before heading out, I milled around for a bit. Utterly fascinating! This location is for the history buffs. The other review, by Mike G., sums it up pretty good. Mike also provides some links for further reading. If you are heading to Granbury, down 377, it's an easy detour to visit Elizabeth Crockett's, second wife of Davey Crockett (Yes, that Davy Crockett), grave site. You'll come to road # 167, a traffic light, and a sign indicating a left to get to Acton. It's just a few miles down the road, on the right (no further turns required to get there). Once there, the grave is easy to spot, thanks to the large white column, with Mary on top (looking west, waiting for Davy to come home). I didn't have time to explore the whole cemetery, but it might be worth a closer look next time. Looks rather historic. If it's Saturday, between 12 and 3PM, you can check out Revolver Brewing ( https://www.yelp.com/biz/revolver-brewing-granbury ). Tasty beer and a nice venue. There's usually live music and a food truck too! If you are on your way to Granbury, instead of going all the way back to 377, you can make a left in Acton, at the first light, onto Acton Hwy, and that will take you to back to 377. At this intersection is the HEB and Kroger Market Place. Oh, and if you're hungry and wanting BBQ, I'd suggest making a left, where Acton Hwy forks (on my alt route back to 377), and check out the RibShack ( https://www.yelp.com/biz/ribshack-granbury-2 ). Really old little Cemetery in the little Town of Acton just outside of Granbury, Texas. The most famous known of the people interred here is Elizabeth Crockett, the wife of David Crockett. Elizabeth moved to Texas after David's death at the Alamo to receive the League of land that was given to all the Veterans of the Texas Revolution. Elizabeth settled here in Acton where there are still living decendants of her and David living in the area! A couple of their children are interred next to her as well. The was a statue erected of Elizabeth at the grave site. The statue is of a woman looking out in the direction of the Alamo. It is said she is looking for Davy to come home. A beautiful little Cemetery with a lot of history. Really worth the stop. You can't miss her grave site. It's the tallest in the Cemetery. read more

Acton State Historic Site is Texas' smallest historic site with a total of just .01 acres. The historic site is located in old Acton Cemetery in Hood County. It is the burial site of Elizabeth Crockett, the second wife of Davy Crockett -- one of the defenders of the Alamo. Although this is not a traditional "park", like all old cemeteries it is rich with history* It's the tiny fenced zone around the grave of Elizabeth P. Crockett, Davy's second wife. Elizabeth was granted land in Texas for the bravery shown by Davy Crockett at the Alamo. But she waited 17 years to claim it, and by then all of the good spots in Texas were taken. So she ended up having to give a surveyor half of her savings to find a tract worth claiming.
