Our first stay was Labor Day. Nice park. It has a huge pool and they actually serve alcohol! Lots to do for kids. They even had mermaids come to the pool. They have buddy sites as well wish we would have known prior to booking. Host very nice. We will be back. read more

Four stars for: -Location: the location was excellent right across the street from Big Rocks park and the river. -Swimming Pool: was big and had a section for younger kids, which was nice! -Concert: they booked a great band on the holiday weekend (weekend right after the 4th). -Playground: looked nice for kids. -Cabins: they have some small cabins that may be a good option if you don't want to tent camp or drag a camper down. Took a star off because parking at campsites could be difficult if you have multiple vehicles, sites were kinda close together. It was also a busy weekend so cars were everywhere. Overall it was a great spot and I will recommend it to my friends. Several restaurants and a grocery store within a 5 minute drive. read more

We really enjoyed it. The cabin we stayed at was peach wood, was nice but floors were really dirty when we walked in. I swept the cabin and moved two of the chairs to sweep and found a half empty Gatorade and two dead roaches. The bed sheets had someones else's hair in them so we slept on the top cover with the blankets we brought. They also didn't have our packet ready for late arrival. The lady working at the front was still there when we pulled up and was very sweet to help us out. The rv spot rentals were great. My in-laws loved it. We will be back just hope it's a little cleaner next time. read more

We come here every December for a Yule celebration. The park is always nice and we have enjoyed the upgrades they have made over the years. The cabins are comfortable and quaint. The hole place has a rustic country feel. read more

We spent three nights here in October. Nice pull through spot, big enough for our 5th wheel and truck. Very clean park. Bathrooms were new and very clean. The pool was closed for the year, but looked really nice and was quite large. Nice grounds, we walked around several times. Cabins looked cute as well. Office personnel were very nice and helpful. This is really a 2.5 star review based on two different types of experiences: a) RV camping: 3.5 stars. The biggest complaint that the people who stayed in an RV in the RV section had was that there was a quinceanera hosted one evening, which got incredibly loud, both from music which lasted until midnight and also from the guests, who were quite loud and apparently quite drunk. Were the park to agree not to hold nighttime events, then this would not be a problem, and the rating would be higher, but the people in the RV got very little sleep due to the high amount of late night noise that was a direct result of Oakdale's decision to allow the quinceanera party to occur and to run late into the night. b) Tent camping: 1.5 stars. There's one field where tents are allowed. The entire field is bathed in light from several light posts that ring the field. There wasn't a place where we could have camped that wouldn't have been underneath blazing lights. If you don't have any trouble sleeping in a lit room, then this isn't a problem. Alternatively, if you have a very tight eye mask, then you can sleep here with no problem. For us, though, since we're used to sleeping out under the stars, we don't think to include eye masks as part of our camping kit. We slept terribly because of the light pollution. I hate to give this place such a low rating because the people were friendly, and it felt very secure. The park is exceptionally clean. However, if we were to come to Glen Rose again, we'd either camp at the state park or stay in a hotel. read more

We found this place because a good friend of ours invited us. Her family used to own and run the place for several years. She spoke about how magical it was and how many good memories she had there. So we gave it a try. 3 nights for around $400 sounded reasonable. Good: location is great. You are in the quaint town of Glen Rose which is very charming and has a lot to offer. You are close to a variety of family friendly activities and parks. You are directly across the street from Big Rock park which is a great place to spend some time in the river with the kids. Bad: Cabins: I was expecting charming when I made the reservation however all I got was "OLD". We stayed in a cabin that had been "updated". When I say updated I mean that an unskilled laborer slap some paint on the walls and then tried to install flooring, tile and cabinets, but failed miserably. The wall AC unit barely keeps up with the Texas heat. The floors are warped so bad that when we cooked eggs in a pan they all ran to one side. The floors are cracked and scarred and don't even look that old. there is no ventilation because the widows don't open and there are no screens. There is no ventilation in the bathroom so its only a matter of time before mold and mildew build up and the ceiling starts to bubble. The kitchen didn't have anything other then a crusty old sponge. No dishes, no silverware, no pans. The cabin is small and from a safety stand point having only one egress is scary especially in a place that looks like it is a spark away from becoming a bonfire. There is no saving these cabins, they need to be torn down and replaced. They should stop trying to put lipstick on a pig. Pool: the pool is 100 years old which is awesome to think that you are swimming in a piece of history. However, we only got 4 passes for our stay and then had to pay $10 per day for our other children. What a rip off! the pool is large, but they took down the slide and diving board that used to be there so it is a whole lot less fun then it used to be. Also why am I paying $10 extra dollars per day when there isn't even a lifeguard. The pool also needs some love. The coping is cracking and crumbling, the concrete surround cracking and shifting, the tile accents are missing far too may tiles. Staff: I'm not sure who the staff were other then the women at the front office desk. There were people driving around in gold carts, but there was nothing identifying them as staff. At one point I passed an old man in flip flops who asked if I was having a good time. I'm guessing he must have worked there, but I'm not sure. The Grounds: The grounds are well kept. There is a pretty amazing play set for the kids. Activities: Usually at a campground there will be a "kids" room or a "handout" for rainy days, however this place had neither. There was anbuilding labelled "hangout" but it was empty and locked. I give this place 3 stars because I think if you are camper camping this is a nice location and decent facilities, however everything else is lackluster. I hope there are improvement made in the future, but I will not be back. read more

We have been coming here for years and it was great fun but not anymore. The new owners have jacked up the costs and on everything. Now it $5 just to park on the property, $10 per person to swim and you can't bring anything in. They made my daughter throw away her bottle of water. A 20oz fountain drink was $3. They also took out the swimming pools slide and diving board. read more

When we were forced out of our homes due to Hurricane Harvey, we chose Glen Rose because it was safe from the storm and catastrophic flooding. While the city overall was incredibly hospitable and kind, the manager at this RV park was everything but welcoming. He tersely reminded us that we had to be out before Friday because he had people coming with reservations. When we asked for ideas on where we should go, he suggested a Wal-Mart parking lot. The accommodations and amenities here are nice, but we will never return or recommend this place because of its management. Stay at Dinosaur Valley State Park instead. read more

Even though the rules of the park state that reservations must be canceled 48 hours prior to the reservation date for a full refund Oakdale refused to give us a full refund after we canceled 11 months and 2 weeks before the reservation date of July 3, 2021. I wish I had been able to spend more than one night here. It was amazing. Big park, nice pull through RV spots and welcomed tent campers and if you don't have a tent or RV they have cabins. Free wifi, showers, gift shop. Totally cute. They have a beautiful well kept pool, covered porches with tables and grills and they often do special concerts! Yes, they have a stage and huge grassy area. We didn't get to see one, but I was planning a trip back, they have the event calendar on their website. Across from the park is big bolder park, putt put, sno-cones and a laundromat. Reasonably priced and within walking distance to restaurants and shops. I LOVE this place. The owners are very nice, we were lucky and didn't need a reservation. They fit us in fine! Had all.our info ready when we got there. Eveyry rv spot had a grassy knoll with table so you could enjoy eating outside. It was really a lot of fun. I cant wait to go back. read more

We stayed here over labor day weekend and it was a great experience. Two different bands played and while we didnt get to enjoy much of it because we have small kids we could hear it from our spot and it was nice. Facilities are nice and the swimming pool looked nice. We opted to hit the river instead but it did look beautiful every time we drove past. I fully expect to be back. For what it's worth not every spot has a table...in fact it looks like most do not so plan appropriately. There are areas with tables that are covered but you have to leave your rv spot to get there. Never could get the WiFi to work but that could have been a result of the number of people that were there. read more

My family and I have been going there for the past 4 years and have NEVER been disappointed. Cabins and grounds are always clean and not to mention the friendly staff. Perfect location that is out of the way but close to stores if you need to grab something. There are also amazingly fun things to do close by within a short car ride or right across the street. We are starting a family tradition and have no plans to stop! :). read more

If we weren't road tripping and trying to see lots of country in 4 days, we would have stayed more than one night. Nice park, nice people, near quaint downtown Glen Rose and across the street from a beautiful spillway...AND a snow cone stand and putt putt course. Beautiful pool...great place if you have kids, but it wasn't particularly noisy if you don't. We are likely to return for the Puluxy River Bluegrass Festival the first weekend in October and/or April and stay at the park again. A good experience! read more

Camping at this place is awful. The only positives from our camping experience was that one of the camp areas is next to a playground, so our kids had something that kept them quite occupied. Also, the bathrooms were surprisingly clean. Otherwise, the camping area is bathed in light that has the brightness of the sun. You can't escape it. Forget having a peaceful night under the stars. But the worst part is that for some reason, the park has a rooster living on the grounds. He began crowing continuously around 4 a.m. The sun had not even started to rise. It woke everyone up. So, unless you like a lot of light when you sleep and waking up before dawn, avoid this place like the plague. read more

Lovely old-timey campground (with a stage and sound system) located a mile from the quaint downtown. Directly across the street is Big Rocks Park and a snowcone shack: a great draw for the kids. Cabins available, but reservations recommended. Third Saturday of the month in summer, the park hosts free jam sessions by the Paluxy River Bluegrass Association. In addition the park is the venue for two large music festivals: a bluegrass festival in April and the Lone Star State Dulcimer Festival in May. Since the City of Glen Rose assumed ownership, the restrooms have been updated and tiled. The entire park is sparkling clean. Enormous pool (dug by mules in the 1920s) is accessible for an extra fee. (Grandparents of campers in the next tent spent their honeymoon in the1930s at one of the cabins.) Small, but adequate, dog park. RV spots are pull-through. There are two tent camping areas. One is a large grassy area centrally located and with a modest playground and volleyball net. Picnic tables are located under covered pavilions a short walk from the campground. Bring a portable table if you want to cook at your campsite. A second tent camping area (with picnic tables) is located along the perimeter fence. I reckon families would rather camp in the large grassy area, and couples along the fence. Laid-back atmosphere. Helpful, kind staff; friendly fellow campers. Oakdale Park is conducive to a pleasant, relaxing camping experience, with quick access to the amenities of charming town of Glen Rose. read more
