It was about an hour drive from Fort Worth, and it's eight dollars per person to enter the park. Your access gives you the ability to visit all national parks for the period in which you bought your ticket so 24 hours total. There's various trials you can do, we ultimately ended up doing two, and the moderate one is quite difficult due to the terrain. However, the overlook was a straightforward trail with a beautiful view at the end. I would say the times a lot to each trail are accurate, you wanna ensure you get there early because it does get hot in mind you it is Texas in the summertime. We packed lots of snacks, and had our water. We also took some time to dip our feet in and look at the Dino tracks up close. There's so many ways you can spend your day here, however, some quick exercise, and beautiful views definitely doesn't go wrong! You also get the opportunity to learn lots, and we took the time to take all the knowledge we could by reading through the exhibit in the welcome center. (:

If water conditions are safe, there is also swimming... So bring your floaties! There are also bathrooms, and (I think) changing rooms. There might be a snack shop, but I've never been here when it's open, so maybe not. Only reason I'm not going 5 stars is that the unpaved parking lot is a navigation nightmare! It's also very bumpy, and entry in and out is rather steep. To top this quagmire off, there's also a huge, Texas-sized, truck blocking the parking isles. The truck usually has an over-sized trailer hitch making things even worse. Lastly, be sure to read the warning sign. If the water is not moving, i.e. stagnant, there is the danger of unhealthy "amoeba organisms."

A charming, small, lighted Riverwalk with multiple benches, trash cans, "doggie" bags, sturdy steps…read moreand railings which runs parallel and just east of Historic Downtown Glen Rose. We "discovered" this charming, nicely constructed walkway after enjoying a riverside picnic dinner. We were enticed by the newer, smoother-looking walkway and entrance we could see from the Pavilion at Paluxy Heritage Park--what better activity for post-mealtime than a walk!? The Riverwalk features a dock/platform where people could potentially pull kayaks, SUPs, or canoes along the edge and either paddle down river, go for a quick restroom break (there's one up the hill at Paluxy Heritage Park near the Pavillion), or take a rest. During our walk, I was happy to spot one small cluster of cheerful white and yellow wildflowers I had not yet seen in Texas near the trail and enjoyed seeing the homes across the road--a couple with some very southern features--especially the beautiful wrap-around porches! I also enjoyed trying to walk faster than the SUPer down on the river below in an attempt to start a small race. The most special surprise of all was that this Riverwalk led us to a large Dam (intended for recreational use with steps on either side). From there, you can cross over the dam and walk to Big Rocks Park - a site to behold from the dam and a bit like Enchanted Rock on a MUCH smaller scale with many large...I mean BIG ROCKS. For a girl-turned-woman who STILL collect rocks, this was a dream come true!! We were delighted that we chose this walk as it turned into even more of an adventure than anticipated and made us almost glad that Dinosaur Valley State Park closed early (7pm on weekends for day use--at least temporarily during COVID) as we gained a whole new and WONDERFUL perspective of what the small town of Glen Rose has on offer--and its much more than Dinosaurs and Fossils with many features and activities I consider quintessentially Texan in the best of ways! There's a certain feeling that can't be named in the goodness of a hot Texas summer spent on, in, or near the water with cold drinks, smells of campfire/BBQ, and good company - it's so rich and so good it's spiritual! This experience, and the wonder it filled me with, gave me that pure, untainted Texas goodness that only those who have spent time in, and love, Texas understand.

A paved trail that takes you to the dam, and Big Rocks Park. You walk across the dam to get to the big rocks! Oh, Master Gardeners also has their garden here. Also a short walk from the square, if you don't mind crossing the bridge the cars also use. Bottom line: Great diversion.

A nice little riverside park just east of historic, downtown Glen Rose- this park features a large,…read morelighted pavilion WITH FANS (amazing feature in TEXAS heat!!), walking trail, restroom, small flower/butterfly garden, a playground--part of which features a shade covering, a few, small, historic buildings, and access to the Glen Rose River Walk. This made a GREAT spot for us to eat our combo packed and takeout dinner after finding out that nearby Dinosaur Valley State Park now (last weekend of June 2020) closes at 7pm for day-use on weekends due to COVID-19. This was the perfect motivator to pick-up a to go order from one of the most uniquely Texan restaurants I know --Loco Coyote! With a bit of driving, we were able to pick up our order and head to this park where we found ample seating in the forms of picnic tables and benches with less than a handful of people visiting the park at the time. During our picnic dinner, a group of kayakers and SUPers paddled by on the river below the pavilion creating some lovely dinnertime entertainment!

The only drawback is I had to rent a campsite for the day in order to get a fire blazing. Kind of sucked since I wasn't planning on spending the night. Oh well! It was all still worth it as I supported nature and TPWD. The hiking trails were challenging and invigorating. Thankfully they were also very clearly marked. They were a challenge with all the natural rock and rock cliffs. Penitentiary Hollow was the main attraction of the hike. Wow, Lake Mineral Wells rocks with awesomeness! Please camp here!

Luckily for us we did have kids who were complaining of being tired by the midway point of it, so it is perfect for families. But if you are an avid hiker who hikes for miles and miles, this is not the spot. We did go to the beach to look around, but didn't get in as it is winter right now and was at 30-50 degree weather. It is a beautiful place, very clean and well kept. If you are coming in with family, this is perfect, but if you want to hike, this is not your spot.

As soon as I drove into the front entrance, I stopped in the office in order to print the day pass I purchased online yesterday. All three ladies were extremely friendly and helpful. They showed me the key highlights of the park on the map. Then I shopped their merchandise in the park store. The trails were very well maintained and laid out. Each path was clearly visible so as not to get lost or off the marked walkway. I even spent some time in one of the day use areas to read this month's issue of Texas Parks & Wildlife magazine. Was offered four days of camping in return for sitting through a one and half hour sales…read morepresentation. Sat down and went through the different parks and amenities. Then were told it was just $16,900 for a membership to just Tres Rios and that nobody ever took that one because take a guess at how much it is for a membership to include all their resorts. Cmon take a guess, no really take a guess. $20,000, $25,000 maybe $30k. Not even close!!! It's the same price!!!!!How amazing is that? How can this be? Oh the insanity of these folks to sell all of that for the same price as just the one. No wonder anyone ever took the deal with just one resort! Tried a soft close then went and looked at the resort. Then came back and tried another close. When still resisted the awesomeness of this deal, they brought in the The Closer, the manger, the magic man, the man that could make things happen. Have you ever seen the old movie "Used Cars"? Do these morons think nobody has sat and listened to a cheesy used car salesman before. Because he liked us so much. I felt so special and unique. He offered us not only Tres Rios but a resort in Oklahoma and wait there's more. All the other resorts plus access to all Coast to Coast resorts. And all this for guess how much? Cmon you guessed so bad last time give it another try. Ok I won't make ton wait anymore. All that for $8000. I sat there and thought you MFers tried to sell me at $16,000 and then come in at $8k. Wow what a sleezy sales tactic. Then tells me if money is a problem I can finance with only half down. I assure him that money was not the issue. We would never use enough to justify not to mention they tried to bend me over. He kept talking about money and even the girl that had showed us around even stated telling him money wasn't the issue. He was getting pissed and dug deep telling me I owed it to my family to take them on vacations and leave this membership to them when I died. Told him I have 3 grown ass kids that none of them like to camp or stay in RV Parks. They have left home and can pay for their own vacations. He just could not believe that I wasn't falling or his superior sales tactics and pitches. Sad part of it is the girl that gave us the tour and was our sales person was doing well and I might have bought from her. The whole thing was very unpleasant. Oh yeah they tell you upfront there's no high pressure or arm twisting to buy. Now about the park. It's nice. In between three rivers like the name says. Gave us a site that was all dirt. You'd think if your wanting to sell someone you'd give them a nice spot. Office folks were hit or miss. We're really friendly upon arrival but went back another day and seemed stressed because of phone calls and were short that day. The resort has live oaks and pine trees Only one shower building with two showers each for men and women. Pretty clean considering public restrooms/showers. It's not a bad place to spend a few days. Just know your going to sit through an ass beating sales presentation. Good place for kids as have a play ground and they can play in Squaw Creek as well as adults can sit in lawn chairs in the creek. Just remember to put your adult beverages in a cup that is not glass anywhere other than your camp site. Most of the other guests were friendly. Just don't step foot on anyone's else's camp site. Some folks take that stuff serious.

This trip, we drove a different way to get to the waterpark and happened to pass this playground. OMG! Up until now, the Raleigh (NC) playground has been the most EPIC playground we have been to but we think that this one might have just taken FIRST PLACE!! We were absolutely blown away by the sheer size of this playground! There was so much to do!! The play areas were clustered into different types. There was one for little little ones, another for toddlers, other ones for more adventurous kiddos, etc. Some of the climbing structures were quite high. I went up one and admit as an adult was a bit scared being so high. The other concern I had was with some of the "parallel" bar type climbing things... I thought they looked "dangerous" and indeed, one of our kids fell from maybe 10-12 feet and had the wind knocked out of her. She wasn't hurt hurt but it sure scared her (and me.) I loved that the ground cover was either rubberized mats OR turf. The various drinking fountains scattered throughout helped with keeping us hydrated and cooled us off. The one "negative" is actually due to the sheer size of this place. While I was watching one of my kids, the other went to a different play area and my heart stopped for a bit while I searched for her. She was safe but my mind went to a dark place when I couldn't find her right away. This playground does have restrooms! They weren't in the cleanest condition but it was nice to have them. Prepare yourself in advance for the COLD metal seats. Shockingly icey on a hot summer's day. Again, this is such an amazing playground and I am 100% jealous we don't have anything like this in Houston.

My then-7 y/o son was able to climb 8 feet up a structure for its intended use and jump off "on a dare" by other kids and ended up in the ER. I've also assisted with autistic children that elope and get separated due to the multiple exits. There are also multiple places to have a party, first come first served. This also makes things extra crowded. I haven't been there in a while since the heat, but I am hoping they will maintain a good-sized field because independent play (soccer, football, kite flying, etc.) are just as important as playground structures.

I am glad I didn't want a swim because even though the lake was high it was 60 degrees or so that day. The only ones in the water were the geese and ducks. The restroom and outside shower were nice. That is the side of the park w the beach parking. I accidentally parked in the conference center parking lot. I had a nice time and saw a turtle on the catwalk. It dived under water. All in all a great place to spend a bit of quiet time at the start of my day. I included a pic of the rules and even though the water level was high I saw pics on Yelp where it wasn't so you might want to keep that in mind as well.
