I decided to try acupuncture and specifically looked for an acupuncturist trained in China. I had tried acupuncture before for migraines and the Western trained doc didn't help at all but the Chinese trained doc I tried after worked wonders but is now retired. After the first treatment I noticed a significant improvement and after four treatments I was almost 100 percent. It took a while for full recovery because we had to find the cause but we did and I am now without pain and have full mobility. Dr. Ma is kind and gentle and didn't hurt me with the needles. Her office is clean and relaxing. If you are in pain call Dr. Ma, she probably can help.

I found Dr. Ma on yelp, made an appointment, and after a few treatments the pain was finally gone. She did acupuncture followed by cupping and massage and performed a miracle. I had been in pain for so long with this and it was finally gone. I always tell her she has 'magic hands' and have gone to her for many other issues since. I'm very active and she helps keep me in shape. Because of her background as a medical doctor as well as acupuncturist, she knows instantly where to place the needles and/or do any cupping to relieve the pain and speed up the healing. In addition to all this, Dr. Ma is a wonderful, caring, and kind person and I feel so lucky to have found her!

I've suffered from very bad allergies especially during the spring when pollen is bad. Ever since I started my treatments with Dr. Cheng in 2014 I hardly get allergies throughout the year and I have been enjoying the outdoors ever since I've started my treatments with Dr. Cheng. Since I'm active military, I moved out of Maryland to Texas in 2016 but I've continued to come back every year to get his treatment because I've tried many other acupuncturist and they don't come close to the effectiveness when it comes to his way of treatment. He is very friendly and he listens to you about your ailments but he can also tell where your body is hurting. He is Chinese so he will have an accent but try to really listen to what he is saying and you can understand him. If not, just ask him again and maybe repeat what he said to make sure you understand. I say this because I truly believe and trust him to help people feel better and live with less pain. Give him a chance and his acupuncture methods to work because if you do, it'll change your quality of life for the better. I am a living example of his abilities to make your body feel better and I am so happy that I found Dr. Cheng.

There is a magic within at a place called the Asian Healing Spa and his name is Tom. Tom is a…read more massage therapist whose literally helped me regain control of my life again where I am no longer totally debilitated by pain. I am being 100% honest when I tell you that as therapeutic healer, Tom is a true gift to this world . A uniquely-gifted practitioner, he has this rare (almost unworldly!) and extraordinary ability to intuitively discern the areas in the body where physical pain exists and HEALS it! I started seeing Tom once a week for a 1-hour massage several months ago upon the sudden onset of debilitating [muscular] pain in my back and my neck. It was destroying my life and my quality of life, and I was helpless to it ; Unable to find relief, l was at its mercy every single day . My sister (who is an acupuncturist) referred me to Tom and encouraged me to schedule an appointment with him. She said "He can help you. You have got to experience a massage with Tom at least once, Emily!," and so that's what a did. Initially, when she told me the business name, my first thought was "is this a legit?!"(feeling a little apprehensive). But she, similarly to Tom, also has "IT" when it comes to the ability to heal and I knew she wouldn't steer me in the wrong direction. And so, with an open mind and a hopeful heart ,off I went for my first massage with him. And she was right. He DID help me, and he continues to help me manage my pain every time i leave from an appointment with him. The part that Tom has played in my healing has been enormous and I give him a LOT of credit for helping me regain control of my life again ; A life where I am no longer controlled by my pain. A massage with Tom IS that "little magic pill" for a PAIN RELIEF (and the "pill" that we always hear doesn't exist!) Only it DOES exist for muscular pain relief and perhaps in one of the most unlikely places you'd expect to find it. I have wanted to write this review for such a long time now,..and I should have done it sooner....I struggled to find the words to verbalize my experience and the huge GAINS I've come away with from weekly appointments with Tom. I've achieved relief so powerful it has literally changed my life and afforded me with QUALITY of life once again. I was a little taken aback and disheartened to see ANY negative reviews posted about this business and I felt defensive for Asian Healing Spa upon first reading some of those comments . But, I realize now,... Not everyone is going to be capable of appreciating the gift that is in this place and it's healers. If you're looking for a run-of-then-mill bougie, ordinarily upscale spa where you will pay a fortune in exchange for minimal therapeutic gain,....and, if you cant hold space in your heart and have an open mind (without preset expectations) of what you think a "massage" or a spa SHOULD BE,...and, if you're going to go in there judging the structure of the massage rooms, the decor and the fixtures,....Then, it is highly unlikely you'll be able to appreciate the magic and the uniqueness this place has to offer us. You go on girl and head to that bougie spa down the road and rob yourself of the chance to experience the miracle. We are SO blessed to have this place (and it's insanely talented practitioners!) available to us locally within an arm's reach. On the contrary, If you are spiritual in nature, you will love this place. If you CAN be open to the unique Asian massage techniques utilized here, for the sake of healing and understand that whichever technique the practitioner utilizes with done so bearing your best interests at heart (walking on your back for deep lactic acid buildup- is AMAZING!) , you are going to fall in love with this place (as I have) and will think you stumbled upon one of the seven wonders of the world.

I took my mother here for a Mother's Day massage. She got the combo package (30-minute body massage…read more+ 30-minute foot massage) for $90, which we paid for upfront. Before the session, they gave us a form where we could choose the pressure level, mark areas to focus on, and note any areas to avoid, which I appreciated because it made the experience feel more personalized. When we entered the massage room, the therapist did not want me to stay in the room with my mother, even though there were clearly two seats available inside. At first, they said, "Someone is sitting there," which made no sense because it was only me and my mom in the room. I asked who would be sitting there, and they went quiet before repeating that I couldn't stay. I explained that my mother does not speak English and that I needed to remain there to help translate if necessary. Instead of showing understanding, the situation became awkward and uncomfortable right from the beginning. As a customer, especially when bringing a parent who cannot communicate easily, I expected a little more patience and professionalism. Despite that interaction, my mother did enjoy the massage overall. It was her first professional massage, so she did not have many expectations going in. The therapist did pay attention to the areas she marked on the form and seemed attentive to the pressure and focus points she requested. My mother said she felt relaxed afterward, and I was happy that she at least enjoyed that part of the experience. Unfortunately, the ending completely ruined it for me. After the massage ended, as we were walking out the door, the therapist stood in front of the door and blocked me from exiting to ask for a tip. I understand tipping culture and I normally do tip for good service, but making customers feel pressured or physically stopped before they can leave is extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. It left a very bad final impression on me, especially after the earlier issue about me staying in the room to help my mother communicate. Overall, while the massage itself was decent and my mother enjoyed it, the customer service and handling of the situation made the experience feel uncomfortable and stressful rather than relaxing. For a place that provides services meant to help people unwind, I think they should work on making customers feel respected and at ease from start to finish. We will not be returning. I would only come here if I spoke Chinese, came alone, and don't mind tipping bad service. ‍

I was struck by how salt was everywhere--even on the floor beneath my feet, grounding me in the present. It was truly a moment of clarity and awakening. The location is about an hour from us, but it was easy to find, on the backside of the shopping center. When we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly lady at the front desk. Since it was our first time, we were advised to arrive early. She explained that we would be called back in waves, and we were given foot covers, a locker, and earplugs (if we wanted them). The room had calming music playing, and we took a seat. At 11, the lady came in to let us know that a mist would start, which might cause a slight tickle in our throats. Once the session began, we couldn't leave the room. The experience was relaxing-- I spent most of the time with my eyes closed, and a few times, my husband even dozed off. The time seemed to pass slowly, and when the session ended, the lady returned and let us out. I didn't notice any dramatic changes afterward, but I wasn't expecting to feel much after just one session. While I didn't see or feel any salt residue on myself, I did get a bit of white residue on my fingers after touching the wall on the way out. My husband felt that the experience wasn't particularly worthwhile. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but I can't say it was amazing either-- I think it could be more beneficial if done multiple times. The staff was kind and professional, and the atmosphere was definitely relaxing. One note: the chairs have a weight limit of 275 lbs. Their email mentioned that they can accommodate guests discreetly, but given the small size of the room, I'm not sure how discreet that would be.

Previously I had used what amounted to "New Age" acupuncturist; that is to say Westerners who latched on to the ideals of Eastern philosophy and medicine. Although I'm all for opening our minds and blending cultures, the fact remains that Chinese medicine is intricately tied to Chinese culture. Therefore, if you want to guarantee the doctor understands the process completely, I recommend finding someone who grew up with that culture. Dr. Grant has a small practice, but that adds to the relaxation. He understands what it is you need, doesn't hide behind semantics over what a symptom or disorder might be called, and knows exactly where to treat. Since I've attended him my daily headaches have become less frequent and much less intense, and my stress levels are always at their lowest after a treatment. I walk out of there feeling like I've just released tension through hard exercise even though I've been lying on a bed for 45 minutes listening to music. If you're looking for an acupuncturist within the Columbia/Ellicott City area, then I recommend calling up Dr. Zhang. His prices are about average, but his skill is worth it; even better if your insurance covers it!

The infection was finally cleared but it left me with a type of pseudo-colitis and I was still having abdominal pain, and other unpleasant symptoms. All the doctors told me was to eat yogurt and take pro biotics which I was doing, but it didn't help much. I did a lot of research about restoring gut health but most of it did not give specifics. I felt like I needed someone who knew what they were doing to help guide me through it, tell me exactly what to eat, take and when in order to help me restore my destroyed gut microbiome. I decided to think outside the box and seek out a Traditional Chinese Medicine specialist. Kathryn put me on a specific diet plan which included supplements plus acupuncture for the abdominal pain. After just two treatments, once a week apart, I could tell a difference. I finally turned the corner and by week 4 the pain was gone, my gut was healing and things were finally getting back to normal again. Kathryn not only helped facilitate the healing process but helped me get my life back. I can now go places and plan trips without the fear of being sick away from home and always having to be near a bathroom. Her knowledge about gut health and the steps to take to restore it were invaluable. I am truly thankful for her help.
