He flustered my husband who was fresh from his 4th surgery on his back. He assumed that my husband was an addict. He never even asked about the pain. He did how ever take a tongue depressor and broke it to a sharp point and proceeded to poke all the scars on his back. My husband could not flinch because he was in such pain from the "doctors" assessment. My husband was only trying to get established with pain management because of his chronic pain that will never go away. The "doctor" also said he was on pain meds too long and he was going to go through withdrawals. But he did not check when they were filled the last time which was 4 months ago. The Botox filled lips of the "pa" was in the room just to show her judgement. I suggest anyone who looks to be helped by these people you need to look elsewhere.

Update: I am still…read moredealing with Restless Leg Syndrome that was set off after Dr. Netzel thought he could fool me into believing that the catheter coming from my pump was located in the wrong place. My new doctor had me get an updated MRI, something Dr. Netzel never bothered to do. Had he, he would have found out that the Degenerative Disc Disease has progressed further down my back and has now destroyed the disk between L5 and S1. And there's further disk failing in my neck. Dr. Netzel came off as a cocky pain specialist that wasn't interested in listening to anything the patient had to say. His ego needs to be seriously deflated. Having the total of "Doctor" doesn't make you always right. I'm aware that the overall purpose of the surgery he wanted to do is to reduce the amount of morphine I required to get pain relief. The problem is, WHY WOULD I POSSIBLY CARE, especially when the damage I suffered is permanent, so the morphine will be required throughout my entire lifetime. Thus, I don't care if I'm addicted to morphine or not. It's a moot point for me. I'm not willing to risk having an infection that could cause paralysis or death just to save a couple of grams of morphine. The potential for further complications is just far too great. I'll gladly take the surgery when it's actually essential. This most definitely isn't essential. It's much more about feeding a doctor's ego and wallet from my insurance company than actually doing something beneficial for me. Don't assume that just because someone has the total of "Doctor" that they're actually working for your best interest. Do your own research. There's a ton of information readily available on the internet. Because ultimately, YOU ARE THE FINAL AUTHORITY WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR HEALTH. The doctor will certainly make suggestions to you, and often times demands, but the final decision is your's. I strongly encourage you to steer well clear of Doctor Netzel. There's plenty of good pain doctors around that you shouldn't have to settle for the first one your insurance company sends you.

Luckily I called to reconfirm my appointment and they caught their error and changed it to a Thursday instead. Once we arrived we were brought to a room and the Nurse Practitioner informed us of all the treatment "options" available. Then the large fellow who was the sales pitch guy from the lunch and learn came in and gave me an itemized list of what they wanted to offer me. How can they offer anything without having examined me, taken X-Rays or MRI's??? I mentioned to him that the price they were looking to charge me was too high ($4,800) and could they please come down and meet meat a more reasonable level. He said he had to speak to the "manager" and when he came back he had a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT set of charges which we had never discussed initially. Our starting point was now roughly $6,000 and he proceeded to tell me how we "hook me up". After he whittled down all the charges and we ended up right back where we started. He had in essence just added charges, which he then "took away" to make it seem like he was "giving" me something and we ended up right back at $4,800. This place is probably one of the most overtly sleazy, hardcore pressure sell business I have ever walked into, and that's saying something considering I have bought a used car before, and that guy had more manners than this place. STAY AWAY. They will trick and cheat you into buying their "services" based on nothing more than fear. As I mentioned, they never examined me or took X-rays. They're tapering me off my current medication and advising me to find another doctor. The alternative options are morphine or a pain patch, but I'm allergic to morphine and adhesives and refuse to take hard narcotics. I suffer from osteoporosis, broken vertebrae (T4 and T5), a fractured femur, and sarcoidosis affecting my lungs and skin. After managing my pain since 2015, I now feel criminalized. This week, the office has ignored my calls and delayed filling my prescription until Monday due to Dr. Velic's unavailability, and I'm running out of medication amidst constant staff changes.
