I've had nothing but great experiences here for the past several years. The tailoring is always high quality, and everyone is so kind and welcoming. One thing to keep in mind is that this is a small, family-run business, not a big alteration shop. The women here, including the grandmother who is still working, put so much care into every garment. Sometimes turnaround times are a little longer, but I'd much rather wait a bit for careful, quality craftsmanship than have something rushed. This is a wonderful small business! They definitely seem to specialize in ao dai, but don't let that deter you from coming to them with other kinds of garments! I brought a couple pairs of pants to them and they were able to take them at the waist and change the pant leg from straight to skinny. They looked great and felt great; I love not having to wear a belt with these pants anymore!!! I will say that they're often very busy (and I'm glad to see they've got so much business!), so keep your expectations in check when it comes to pick-up times. My pants took about 2-3 weeks, but this also might fluctuate throughout the year. I'd recommend calling for a time estimate if you're on a deadline. read more

I bought in 5 pairs of pants that I needed hemmed. One pair I not only needed hemmed but the top of the jeans lowered as they were to high waisted. Recommended by a friend who's been a regular here for many years, I decided to have my bridesmaid dress altered here, which included hemming, tucking in the sides, and shortening of the straps. The staff thoroughly measured and pinned together how each section would be altered based on how the gown fit on my body in real-time while explaining the consequences (of the appearance) if they were to alter it this or that way. The alterations took about 2 weeks and I was satisfied with the final product. It was $120 paid in cash back in July 2022. Credit card transactions include a 4% fee. In addition to alterations, Vietnamese ao dai are also sold here in many different colors and styles. Parking can be inconvenient on the busy Rainier Ave street. I would consider Adam's again if there is a need for future alterations. read more

What a great place to get alterations done! I had 4 simple cotton dresses I needed alterations for. I needed them shortened/hemmed, but most places I called had standard fixed ridiculous prices no matter the type or material of the items you needed to bring in. Those places don't seem to adjust their prices whether you're getting a formal dress hemmed or a $20 cotton dress hemmed. They also have a 1-2 week turnaround. I'm so glad a neighbor recommended this place instead! Adam's was quick, friendly, and did a nice job on my alterations! It's a little bit out of the way but worth your time and effort. There is parking directly in front of their stairs and if you can't physically do slippery stairs on a rainy day (as I can't right now) the lady will see you on the camera and come out and help process your order outside - good customer service! They let me know the status of my alterations on the day they were promised and were very communicative. I don't know what the inside of their shop looks like since I couldn't make it up the stairs, but for this Covid-19 era it was actually really nice to do drop off outside. I really loved my experience getting my clothes altered here. I originally called to see if they could do my measurements for an ao dai I'm having custom made in Vietnam but they DO NOT offer this service anymore. I saw in a really old review that they did which is why I came here in the first place--not sure why they wouldn't anymore since the place is jam packed with ao dai, but whatever, I had other clothes I wanted tailored so I came anyway to get these (corduroy pants and a romper) done. The fitting process was super quick and since I wasn't in a rush to get them back the turnaround was a little less than 2 weeks. My pants needed hemming and my romper needed to have the sleeve straps taken up because it was too loose. Both came out perfectly with the hemming costing $12 and the sleeves shortened costing $10. I think it is a fair price, especially for the clothes to fit perfectly, and added pro is that the women working there were friendly and welcoming. I wasn't expecting this so it was a very nice surprise to feel their warmth and kindness. I will definitely come back to get any alterations done! read more

I was a loyal customer for many years, referring several people to Adam Taylor. I had one awful experience that will make me never return. I dropped off 5 items to be altered and informed them that it would be at least one month before I could pick up because I was going out of the country. One month led into 3 months due to Covid and me moving 45 minutes away. When I came to pick up the items, they alerted me that everything was in storage since it had been a few months. Not a problem. I came back to pick them up when they informed me they had brought the items back to the shop. They had 4 of the 5 items. My super cute black cocktail dress was missing. They first told me that maybe they donated it due to the timeframe of me picking it up....but they also told me that they ALWAYS call and text prior to doing this to allow the customer to come and pick up. They never called, left a voicemail, or texted me. It also did not make sense that they had the other 4 items that I dropped off at the same time. Why would they only donate one....the most expensive of the 5 items? They also told me to text them a photo, and they would continue to look for it and get back to me. I texted them a photo, a follow up text, and left a message with one of the employees. None of my several attempts to contact them was responded to. I even found the dress on clearance for a very reasonable price and asked if they would be willing to replace the item. They never responded to me. I am convinced that an employee kept the dress for themselves. I am shocked and disappointed with the lack of care or response to make the situation right, especially when I found the dress on clearance and they could have easily replaced for only $50. The right thing to do would be to replace my item that mysteriously disappeared. So disappointed and frustrated. read more

They sold me my tea ceremony outfit (red) and tailored it, they created 8 bridesmaid outfits from scratch, we rented 8 groomsmen blue outfits. They also tailored my white wedding gown. Turned out perfectly! Since the wedding, they have also tailored dozens of my clothing items. They're meticulous, friendly and generous with their time. Came here looking for wedding ao dai. They have ready made options, but don't have really any ability to customize stuff. They can alter their ao dais for you, but you don't have a ton of options in terms of fabrics. I also brought a dress that I requested them to alter. It was a little big / loose in the chest for me, so I wanted them to bring up the straps. I tried it on and someone pinned it for me. It was still pulling weirdly at the chest, and they were very honest with me that it probably wouldn't look nice even if they did the alterations I requested. They quoted me $15, which seemed reasonable, but I chose not to do it. I think they'd be a fine option for ready-made ao dais for a general occasion, but for a special bridal / wedding ao dai, they weren't right for me. read more

I've been coming here for years. The ladies here are very friendly and prompt. PROS: The prices are very affordable for the quality of work that they provide. I brought a few items to be hemmed costing only about $8-$10 less per item. I had my traditional Vietnamese dress (Ao Dai) made for my engagement ceremony along with six of my bridesmaids. She has many different fabric samples to choose from. All the dresses were beautiful and were fitted perfectly. The bridesmaids dresses were around $50 and since mines that more designs, it came up to around $65. They also provide items that you can rent for the traditional Vietnamese engagement/wedding ceremony. I also had my wedding dress and evening gown for my wedding altered there as well. I had taken my wedding dress to a couple of other alterations and they prices that were quoted were around $200-$300. She only charged me $180 to have both my wedding dress and evening gown altered. I've never been disappointed in the quality of work that they provide. CONS: Every now and then they wouldn't make the deadline that was promised. They were very prompt on finishing all dresses for my wedding but they tend to be late on some casual clothing items that i bring in. Street Parking can be hard to find. It's a very small store filled with many dresses and accessories so it can be very crowded at times. TIP: I would call them a day before your item is ready to make sure you will receive it on time. read more
