My friend had her wedding dress altered here with some great results so I took in some delicates including a cashmere coat that needed restructuring of the shoulders with tailoring of the sleeves and coat body, selvedge denim jeans, a few silk shirts, and one sheer silk shirt. All I can say is WOW. Excellent work, professional at each interaction and in the job performed. I took advantage of the natural Fall/Winter lull (outside of wedding season) with a quick turnaround. They are very transparent on pricing in person after they evaluate the piece and the work requested and cost is time based. Two very nice people in this shop. Misook was fast at responding to my Yelp message and scheduling an appointment to come into the shop. She was very patient and make different recommendations based on what I wanted. Since I told her "no rush" on the alterations, she finished nine pair of pants in three weeks. Most of my pants were too big along the waist. The adjustment from the side was $24 per pair and from the back center was $44 per pair, which are reasonable for the amount of work required. She hemmed a pair of my pants, which was $26 dollars a pair (I thought it was a bit pricy). She sent me texts to update any changes to the alteration. When I pick up my clothes, the alterations look good and makes my pants more fitting than before as well as nicely folded. Would recommend for the quality of alteration. read more

I also realized Haeyang helped me both times, so minor update from last review should be Haeyang instead of Misook. Like last time, Haeyang was very patient with my questions and requests, and took the time to describe how she wanted to tailor the clothes and asked me what I thought about her suggestions. Misook did an excellent job with the alterations of my wedding dress. She was very kind and accommodating, making appointments that worked with my schedule which was great. I actually did not realize how complicated and time consuming it can be to do the alterations on your wedding dress so make sure you plan with plenty of time for that! I would also suggest bringing a friend or family member along to give you that outside perspective of the fit and any details that need addressing, you really can't see it on yourself as well and it's fun to have them there for support anyways. Misook also helped me giving me her input on accessories and veil choices which I appreciated very much. I am very happy with her work and she was a pleasure to come in to see. Superb Custom Tailors did an amazing job with my dress. Not only did they finish it in a short amount of time before my wedding, they worked with me in arranging payments after it being more expensive than I expected. They charged hourly for my dress (it required so much work-especially stitching), but it came out absolutely perfect. At first I didn't understand why so much had to be done, but I did as the dress came together at every fitting. I am short (about 5' 1) so the dress had to be taken in to fit my proportions. I came here on a whim to get a somewhat tricky dress altered in ONE DAY and am so glad I did! My mom had gotten me a gorgeous dress from a trip overseas, but it was too long and formal to wear to any of the parties I was going to over the holidays (or any events I normally go to for that matter...). It was made of a delicate mesh-like material with individually sewn sequins so I was concerned about getting it altered. They were very particular about the way I stood (I tend to talk and move around) when I tried it on as they were doing measurements, and I'm so glad, because it turned out perfectly. The price was also about $30 less than what I have paid for similar services and they included the refuse material, expertly cut (nothing was wasted), that I could probably use as a shawl/wrap for another dress. When they do work, they do amazing work. I have taken dresses here and things turn out amazing. I think she is an expert at what she does. However, on that note, I have gone in here with minor alterations, such as fixing a seam or a zipper, they don't seem as pleased to be taking in these pieces, almost as if it is beneath them. One time I was told no, they would not fix a zipper on my jacket, and that if they did it would be $40. I have also never had a turn around time under three weeks. They definitely do amazing work, but I would save them for big jobs where you don't mind spending money and the work is really important. This is what I use them for and now take the smaller things to my local dry cleaner. read more

I regret waiting this long to review Superb Custom Tailors' handiwork. Here's my story of what was almost my wedding day disaster, and how this shop saved me. A little more than two months ago I was in the homestretch prior to my wedding. I owned my own tuxedo, but after trying it on the week before the wedding to make sure it fit prior to having it dry cleaned, I had the oh s*** moment. The moment where you look in the mirror with your sloppy suit that makes you look like a kid in his dad's dress clothes. Where you look like the kid in the over sized dad suit that's actually your wedding tuxedo. When you realize, my wife-to-be, who's waiting for me in San Francisco, is going to see my massive tuxedo failure as a harbinger of marital doom. So, after bringing it in late on a Saturday afternoon only to learn the tux was too big to be tailored in such a short period of time, I made a run to JosABank to buy a new, smaller tux. I have a ~11" drop between my jacket and waist, so it's very difficult for me to buy a suit off the rack. Musook kept her shop open after hours to wait for me that Saturday night, pinned and chalked my suit, and promised she'd have it ready by Wednesday. Sure enough the tux was ready in remarkably short order and was fit to near perfection. Although it wasn't a cheap service, it was well worth it--I've paid nearly the same amount for a far lower quality job in San Francisco. Thanks to my fellow Yelpers, Musook and/or her sister saved my wedding day. No joke. I will be returning here for all future suit tailoring and dress clothes alterations. read more

I felt like my pants were brand new, the service was excellent, and you could tell Misook and Haeyang take the time and effort to do their best job. I took a pair of bermuda shorts here to have the seat/hips taken in.I was going to be wearing them a lot on an upcoming vacation and wanted them to look good. After the shorts were pinned and they were writing up a slip, they told me that it would be 2.5 weeks and $33 to have my shorts altered. I was more than a little surprised at both the price and the turn around time. I told them that I wasn't sure that would work since I wouldn't be getting them back until the day before I was leaving on vacation and that wouldn't leaving anytime for additional adjustments if needed. The woman insisted that it was no problem and essentially ushered me out the door. When I came back to pick them up, they did not offer to allow me to try them before I paid. Thankfully, they did great work and the shorts fit really well in the seat. I'm giving them 3 stars because they seem to do really great work, but the price and turn around time are high and the customer service is a little curt. I think I would take a major garmet alteration (formal wear, etc) here but will go elsewhere for minor alterations. read more

SOOOO pleased with how my wedding dress turned out after all of it's alterations! My dress had a silk underlay with an extremely detailed all lace overlay. It took a couple of visits to get everything exactly as it needed to be but every detail ended up beautiful. We ended up having to cut some of the lace in order to bring things in at certain places but you could not even tell there was a break, amazing! The price seemed a little high but I do know the detail and amount of work that went into it probably did justify the cost. It is definitely worth a higher price to know your wedding dress is going to look perfect. read more

I have had wonderful experiences with them in the past when I lived in the Queen Anne neighborhood - they always did precise and quality work on everything I brought in - but I had since moved away and used other tailor shops closer to me for convenience. Then recently, I had a particularly tricky item with my wedding reception dress. Asking around, a friend told me trusted them with such an item over anyone else in Seattle. So I went in and was helped by Haeyang Chung. I described to her my wild vision I had for how I wanted it altered - essentially making a whole new style of the back of the dress, which required taking it almost completely apart. Somehow she pulled it off exactly and made it exactly what I described. It was a sort of magic. I smiled from ear to ear at the final fitting when I tried it on. I am so grateful to Haeyang and this shop - she took my idea seriously and didn't dismiss it with a "nah, it can't be done," which would have probably been reasonable. And then she really did it, perfectly. That's the work of a craftswoman. I went in with my wedding jumpsuit that needed a bralet, to be hemmed and a slight sewing up of the deep plunge. They did all of this within a week. The hem was perfect and just grazed the ground as I had requested. The way she stitched up the plunge made it look unaltered, like it had always been that way. If you are just popping in for something basic, that's fine, but if you have high end and/or unique clothing that need care, thought and respect, there really is no one in Seattle better than these ladies. I mean, they are better even than the good people at Nordstrom's flagship store. We are a couple that care about our clothes a bit more than the average Seattle-ite (and probably the average human being); this is where we go after we've bought anything significant. Even if our clothes fit we've been there just to see what they think or could suggest about fit. Really, they are the best in town. And their prices are not cheap but far less that you'd expect. I was able to get an appointment quickly and she had my dress back with plenty of time. I just needed a hem and for it to be taken in a bit, but there were a few layers of fabric and embroidery to deal with. She didn't rush the fitting, was very detail oriented, and explained everything she was doing along the way. I came here to get my wedding dress altered. I am very petite and needed about 5 inches taken off of the bottom of my dress, and needed to have it taken in. I was worried because there was a lot of delicate lace around the bottom of my dress, and I wanted to keep the overall look of the dress the same. Misook took grate care with my dress and made sure the keep the lace in tact. We met several times so I could try on the dress and make sure everything was fitting right. Misook added several hook and eyes to the back, as well as needed to put a stitch through the lace, which you can't even see because she did such a great job! The lace at the bottom of the dress looked perfect, and you couldn't even tell it had been altered. The dress turned out beautifully. She truly has a talent! I definitely recommend this shop for wedding dress alterations, but do make sure to give them plenty of time to get the job done, since it is a small business. read more

This might actually be my first Yelp review but I could not let the opportunity to praise Superb Custom Tailors for their excellent service that has gone above and beyond the call of duty. After noticing a stain on my wedding suit while getting measured for tailoring, they offered to do a rush order at no extra charge on the suit jacket so I could get it dry cleaned quickly. When I came to pick the jacket up, they had also taken care of my slacks. Everything fit perfectly and I was able to get the entire suit to the dry cleaners far sooner than I had been planning. As anyone who has ever planned a wedding knows, it's a stressful affair and having one less (major) thing to worry about was a blessing. read more
