Like all of you, I was new to acting at some point. With me, it came later in life. So I decided to give this studio a shot being so close to me and not having to drive to LA more than I was already doing for other classes and auditions. What I found was a very friendly and knowledgeable staff with everything you could ask for in an acting school. Although still relatively new to acting, in my short 18 months I've landed a highly reputable talent agent, was the principal role in 2 national commercials, and was cast as a supporting role in an upcoming feature film by a major studio. I'm currently going on network auditions 2-3 times a month and have built a rather impressive resume thus far. All of this is because of the core basics I have learned at ASOOC. Without my acting technique, I would not be where I'm at today with so much more to learn and show. All i'll say is that Marcos De La Cruz is the literal best music teacher I have had. Ever. It's as…read moreplain as that. At least for me, since day one he has been able to overcome any musical obstacle I have had, bringing me from a musical zero to a drumming hero among my friends. He just understands how to break up music into easily comprehensible parts, along with being able to be insanely accurate at keeping "time." I'd even compare him as far as a human metronome. But that's only just talking VERY briefly about how he is. He's also a consistently flexible, funny open guy who just seems relaxed all the time. And seeing him play is just insane, having the most consistent beat while being able to do any crazy combination of drum fills he can. He is easily without a doubt one of the best drummers I will probably have the experience of ever knowing. And his studio is something else. Going into his home, i didn't expect anything but when he showed me into the room, i was actually a bit awestruck. The room looks amazing, with a few musical decorations on the wall, as well as a great sense of lighting and all this (to me at least) crazy music equipment in one corner where he is able to mix and produce and do a lot of his musical activities. Also, he's able to fit in two really nicely tuned/amazing looking drum sets for you to use in that same room. So I recorded a track in my apartment, but I needed to record a vocal track which I can't do with…read morefull voice. I found Marcos on Yelp to get the vocals done and the session went very smoothly. He got me up and running on the mic pretty quickly and 6 passes later we comped the best takes. Very happy with the results in his cool studio. Little did I (or he know) that we knew each other from bands from 25-20 years ago--we just hadn't recognized each other until we mentioned those bands. Small world it is!
