The park has certainly lost some of its charm with the pool removing the diver board and closing the pool for the last handful of years. 5 baseball fields here, 3 for little league, 1 for adult league baseball & 1 softball field.

The playground has two playscapes. Parking can be found on street only. It's a nice playscape and is always busy when we go. However, it is not fenced in. There were plenty of green space to run around. It can get difficult to keep track of your child since it's busy. There are trash cans and it is walking distance to the rose garden. Overall, it's a decent neighborhood playground and it's nice that it was created in honor of a little girl, Ana.

Bushnell Park is the site of many major events each year, including the Greater Hartford Festival of Jazz and the Hartford Marathon. My daughter and I came this week to Bushnell Park for Caribbean week and part two was at Bushnell Park. This was my second year here and the festival was good but in my opinion the other festival at Mortensen Riverfront Plaza is better, just because I love the riverfront. There were a lot activities for families and there was plenty of food trucks to choose from. Many of the lines were long but my daughter and I came across a tent called Cuisine and Pastry, which serves West Indian food, American food, and baked goods. As we thought the line was short, we still waited in line for about an hour. I believe the staff we're having problems with there debit card machine. I ordered the Stew Chicken, Cabbage, and Rice and Peas. My daughter and I took are first bite and we looked at each other and we both had a skeptical look. The cabbage totally lacked flavor and the chicken was dry. Stew Chicken is supposed to be like a stew with Caribbean seasoning and flavors. It lacked the stew part but the Rice and Peas were the best thing on the plate. My daughter stopped eating it after three bites. Two stars for BP Cuisine & Pastry. I actually looked them up on Google and it says there establishment is temporarily closed but on Yelp it doesn't indicate if there closed. I was confused. The event was great and they even had a live Caribbean show. My daughter and I had a great time and we look forward to going next year.

In the park itself, there's a gazebo with stairs I would recommend being cautious on (but the rest of the gazebo seems sound). There are also benches along a stone wall, which divides the park in two. On the other side of the wall, there is an enclosed space I saw people playing with a very happy dog in. Right now it's a little muddy from the snow melting, but it must be nice to picnic in the fall! John E Julian seems to have been a lifelong Stafford resident and prominent citizen. He was a Korean War Veteran, and went on to politics. He served as State Representative from 1974 to 1978, and then as First Selectman of Stafford from 1977 to 1987, and again from 1993 to 2001. He served on a whole bunch of committees and clubs, and seems to have really made his mark during the time he had.

Took my two nephews 14 + 11, they had so much fun! We drove an hour and a half each way to take…read morethem here because a friend recommended it. It was so worth it! We got to go on several courses, my partner, 33 years old completed the black diamond course, he said it was hard though! Let that remind you to get in there with the kiddos! I had so much fun keeping up with them, the one with the 6 or 7 zip lines was the best! I ended up with a sore shoulder the next day, but totally worth it! I hope to do the light up one at night next time we go!

Very nice dog park that's well maintained and they supply poop bags and fresh water source for dogs…read moreon both sides. Separate fenced areas for big dogs and small dogs. Just wood chips to update the older ones. A few older benches remove. Bring your own toys, or there are plenty always left behind from the others dogs. My dog loves to come to this park as he has so many doggie friends he looks forward to and they all play well together. There is plenty of room for your fur pups to run around and release their energy out. I usually come every day as it's a reward for my dog to come and he's a been a better dog since I've been coming here. The adults are all wonderful from around the south windsor area.

Gazebo with picnic tables (can also be reserved through the town for special occasions). Bathroom and a few different water fountains. You can bring a dog, leashed (and if you pick up after them). But not allowed in the playground area.
