5 STARS! This is a BIG produce market with very impressive & unusual variety of top quality vegetables, fruit, annual flowers and food items. Today, I saw bi-color corn, Purple Italian Plums, Yellow French Plums, huge juicy local peaches, very impressive lg. tomatoes, local cucumbers, cherry cider, blueberry cider, peach butter, so many choices of jams and preserves, large mums, plants and so much more! We also got a bucket of caramel popcorn to eat on the way home which kept the kids quiet for another 1 hours until the bay bridge. Bathrooms were basic & clean. Say hello to Jamie when you get there. He helps runs this awesome farm stand -such a nice guy! There are so many markets along the way . This is the worst one. Fruit and vegetables are old, soft and have been frozen or refrigerated again and again. It doesn't keep anything fresher longer . It degrades . They used to have fresh little loafs of banana bread but they were rock hard .. The older lady who sits at the counter is always super grumpy ...so hard pass . Driving from DC to the beach, we stopped because Adams Fruit Market looked too cool to not at least take 5 minutes to buy some local fruit. We selected 4 peaches and they were amazing, ripe, delicious, juicy - the perfect peach. Only issue was they charged me exactly $5.80 for them and $1.45 each seemed a bit of a gouge to buy a peach alongside the highway. So we did some research... The Peach State lost more than 90% of this year's crop after a February heat wave followed by two late-spring frosts, and even though were not in Georgia, supply and demand reigns supreme. The average price for a peach in 2023 is now $1.59 an lb according to the Selina Wamucii website, and a typical peach weighs about 1/3 of a pound, so, yep we got fleeced. Or maybe inflation is just getting so bad that a roadside peach really does cost $1.45 as if you bought it at Whole Foods! read more

Been going here since for over 20 years. Always bypassed the other stands (and there are MANY of them) out of loyalty for Adams. But now, I'll bypass Adams for others. Why? Price (jacked up), service (rude) and freshness (lacking). First, price - by far, the most-expensive of the numerous choices along the way, to and from the beach. Recent noticeable price hikes. In fact, rather sky-high prices. Second, service - hit or miss, but watch out if you get one particular lady behind the wooden counter - she will bite your head off! Absolutely zero customer-service skills; nasty crabapple attitude. Third, freshness - highly questionable. Some items good, some items bad - you just have to watch what you pick out. But then again, why? That is, why, when there are so many other choices. Sorry, Adams - it took a lot to get me to lose my Adams loyalty - but the recent visit (yesterday, on a Saturday afternoon) finally broke it. Don't fuss at me for asking whether I can place an item on "your" counter while I go fetch something else - there are a dozen different ways to handle the situation, and you chose the WORST possible way, with your attitude. Second, when items are not fresh anymore, then sorry - that's on you, not the unsuspecting customer. Either discount them drastically, or eat (not literally, figuratively) your loss from the spoilage. Third - try being NICE to people. You run a fruit stand - you are outside, fresh air, selling fruit. Some of the fruit is sweet - try being a fruit. read more

Every summer on the way to the beach, my family would stop at Adams Fruit Market. Not only was it the ultimate sign that we were only about an hour away from the beach, but it was also an excuse for everyone to stretch their legs and take longer than they needed going to the bathroom. I love this market so much for sentimental reasons, but it's truly a great place to drop off if you're on Rt. 404. The market is located literally off the road. They have a huge area outside with tons of cheap, beautiful, healthy potted and hanging plants. If you walk into the the market place which is under a roof, you will be surrounded by fresh jams, preserves, fruit butters and tons of fresh, local fruits and vegetables. And did I mention at a great price? I stopped by this weekend, by myself for the very first time to see if I would still feel the same way, with a more critical eye and Adams did not disappoint. I picked up fresh bouquet of wild flowers for ($3.99), a large, perfectly ripe cantaloupe ($2.99), a huge jar of fresh peaches, lightly sweetened ($6.50) and possibly the most gigantic, seedless watermelon I have ever seen ($4.50.) This watermelon was so huge, I was struggling to carry it over to the counter. Good thing the men that work here are true gentleman. Not only did they wrap up my flowers nicely, but one fella took the initiative to pick up the 20lb watermelon and take it to my car for me. Now that's great service. Nostalgia aside, this is one of the best markets to stop by if you're roaming out that'erway on 404. You will not be disappointed. And if you are...sucks for you. read more

Hubby found a shorter route to Rehoboth that bypassed Adam's but on our way home yesterday I had him stop by so I could pick up some veggies and fruit. The moment I entered the most heavenly aroma engulfed me so I just had to ask what was cooking. Turns out they were making their sweet pepper relish so you know I just had to have a bottle. This stuff is amazing, I put it on hot dogs for dinner and hubby suggested topping mini meatloaf with it. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that they still had some corn on the cob so I got a half dozen, had an ear with dinner and it was sugar sweet. Hubby's just gonna have to suck it up and switch our route back because I miss stopping here. read more

When I leave the ocean sometimes I take the scenic route just to stop here, so today I figure I would YELP it. Everything is fresh, it's local and can I say fresh again!! I love buying local veggies! From our community!! Anyhow! Any in season fruit , vegetables , jellies and jams ALL LOCALLY GROWN AND MADE ARE HERE. (7/17/2016) Clean, very large selection of annuals and perennials. Shady areas to rest while others shop, and real bathrooms with running water (and multiple, not just one). Some produce from the Eastern Shore and some imported via Jessup, just like the rest of the grocery stores in Maryland, but at least those are segregated in case you can't tell the difference. Also an abundance of local-ish canned goods and tchotchkes. read more

Great place to stop and get fresh produce! Lots of options at a fair price. People are very friendly and accept card payment!

We stopped here on the way home to Arlington, VA from Bethany Beach, DE and so glad we did. We bought cantaloupe, watermelon, tomatoes, and unhusked corn. I later boiled corn for dinner and we agreed it was the best corn we've eaten in a long while. It's a large road stand and I wish now I'd spent more time to explore the place. read more

This Market was a great stop for us as a family. It is a very well taken care of and laid-out market. We visited when they had all the pumpkins,mums, and other Fall related items out and it was all placed in a very organized and fun way. A very nice and informative placard hung above all the various pumpkins and gourds that were placed about. The staff is very friendly and the prices are very fair if not on the cheap side. This for me was the nicest Farmer's Market I have ever been to and if I lived in the area, I would stop here often to pick up fresh produce. "A+" read more

This is a great produce market to stop at on your way home from the beach. All items that are local are listed as local so you don't have to question much there. I bought two weeks worth of fruits and veggies for $40. Such a great deal. Cashiers are pleasant and bagged things up quickly. There are lots of signs that give you a heads up when Adam's is close. I agree with the previous review. Last year was our first year at the market and I loved it. We stopped on the way home from the beach and I bought melons, peaches, fresh corn, a live rosemary plant and a jar of jam. (I probably bought more, but I can't think of it all right now). I found them on FB when I got home, and cannot wait to make it part of our ritual THIS year on our way back from the beach in July. It was a great farmers market in terms of produce and vegetables. They also have a very extensive flower and plant selection, so it is almost more of a nursery than a farmers market. The local strawberries I purchased are delightful. The only missing things would be cheese and baked goods. There were a couple loaves of banana bread, but nothing really fitting a fruit market. The main thing missing for a fifth star are fresh, seasonal fruit pies. read more
