They always answered the phone right away and he was very knowledgeable and easy to work with. He then referred me to the physical therapy office next door and that's where the issues began. Since the first time I called, nobody ever picks up, I called 20+ times in a span of 2 weeks and each time the automated phone system made me listen to a 5 minute message about the history of San Diego Sports Medicine and the different location's phone numbers and then would proceed to hang up on me. The few times it did let me leave a message, nobody ever got back to me. It seems like nobody works at the front desk for some reason. When they finally got back to me, they made an appointment for me with the specific PT that Dr.Koretoff had requested. I was 3 weeks out from the earliest appointment which was not ideal but I had no choice but to wait. When I finally received the appointment reminder the week before the appointment, it said that the appointment will be with someone else, and not the person I had made the appointment with. The person at the front desk even confirmed that it will be with the PT I requested but that's not what they inputted in the system. As a result, I now have to wait another week to start PT. They offered no way to reconcile the situation even though it was their fault, and basically the conclusion was "tough luck, you have to pay for our mistake." In a separate conversation with the front desk again, they were explaining to me the difference between paying out of pocket vs going through insurance. They gave me the out of pocket rate but said that they can't confirm what the cost will be with insurance until I come in so I explained my deductible and the terms on my coverage to get her advice, the answer I got verbatim was "I've explained to you over and over again and it doesn't seem like you're understand so I think I'm wasting my time here." WTF? She only explained to me once, and basically indirectly called me dumb and told me I'm wasting her time? That's no way to talk to any patient especially if I'm being respectful. This is absolutely unacceptable. I don't care if you're having a bad day, you shouldn't be talking to people like that period, let alone if your job is customer service. This is absolutely the worst experience I've ever had with any front desk/customer service. It's like they hate their jobs. Do you guys no vet people before hiring them?

This is a review of Dr Koretoff and the physical therapy practice…read more I visited Koretoff mid 2024 for ongoing shoulder pain. He spent the entire appointment acting like he was late for other things and had too much going on, really didn't seem interested in hearing what I had to say and was so scattered I thought wow maybe he is just having a bad day and is distracted by something. When I went back for a second follow up visit he was even more distracted and uninterested in talking to me. He repeated the same things over and over as though he forgot he had already told me certain things that same day, kept saying he was really busy and made me feel like I was an inconvenience. Based on the first appointment he had referred me to their physical therapy program. This is the key for the practice. It wouldn't exist but for the overpriced PT that is the magic answer for all their patients. Now for the billing. Each THIRTY MINUTE physical therapy appointment is billed at $550 to your insurance. They charge $220 for 15 minutes with a STUDENT physical therapist. $230 for 15 with a licensed PT. I do have a high deductible insurance plan which I am well aware of. This means I owe a larger percentage of whatever the cost is up to my deductible. I have seen other offices and been to PT many times throughout my life and generally expect the total for a PT session to be anywhere from $120-$250 and my portion of the co-insurance to be calculated based on this. In the case of this office, they waited FOUR months until I had completed the recommended course of PT to send me any kind of bill. Strategic, so that I would not know the amount until I had completed my therapy. They have obviously implemented this strategy for a reason. Yes it is my fault for not asking for a bill upfront but never in my life have I seen a supposedly reputable PT practice charge these prices. They received from my insurance over $350 for each one of these $550 thirty minute sessions and STILL want to charge me personally $80 per session. Talk about a RACKET. Wow. When I first received the bill I called immediately with my concerns and very calmly explained the situation and rationale. I was told the office was going to discuss the matter and see what they could do for me. Over the course of the next two months I was not contacted again by SDSM and instead had to reach out to them two MORE times. Each time I was told a different story. At one point the billing office agreed the amount was very high and I was told the actual therapist could agree to a discount and that they were going to discuss this. Again, no follow up just repeated bills in the mail. When I called again to ask the outcome I was told that they can't offer any kind of discount if any portion has been paid by insurance. WTF. I again explained my outrage at the pricing and that I never would have continued and certainly never will go back had I known what they intended to charge. Again, "we will call you back". Each time I made it perfectly clear they were NOT to send this to collections which they agreed. Months went by and I received a bill now almost a year later saying that my account is delinquent and to avoid collections to contact them which I did immediately. After putting me on hold for ten minutes to read the copious notes they have in my file I was told there is nothing they can do except offer a payment plan. Upon supposedly transferring me to the payment plan office she promptly disconnected the line without actually transferring me. I had to call back AGAIN and leave a message. Everyone should be aware that this is their practice. If you are okay with insanely high bills and a practice that takes advantage of insurance (which is why we ALL pay insane premiums) then go ahead and support their business. $550 for a 30 minute PT session. No thanks. And their doctors aren't even good. Needless to say, my shoulder still hurts and now I have a headache and hours of my life lost talking to them about a ridiculous bill. Really wish people wouldn't support a business that takes advantage of insurance and over bills.

Towards the end of my marathon training block, I started experiencing pain in my right knee. I kept ignoring my pain, hoping it would just eventually heal, but it just got worse. I saw an ad on Instagram for Pro+Kinetix and I made the decision to see a PT. In my first session with Dr. Kyle, he immediately clocked what contributed to my knee issues- weak glutes and hips, and my previous ankle injury, and said that I should be able to race. While I did complete my marathon, my knee needed recovery. Every week we worked on various exercises to target the problem areas that contributed to my knee pain, and would adjust based on any pain I was feeling. I understand that recovery is a slow process, but I did see improvement after a couple of weeks. Today, I ran four miles without any knee pain. Seeing Dr. Kyle contributed to my recovery and improvement. I highly recommend Pro+Kinetix to anyone who is having running issues. Dr. Kyle helped me get back into running shape. After each session I was provided specific exercises, and these exercises were cumulative and more were added as I progressed. Rather than acknowledging the possibility that my messages may not have been received or returned, the receptionist seemed more focused on questioning whether I had called the correct number, whether I had left a message, and whether I had only called that same day. I repeatedly explained that I had contacted the office multiple times through different methods, but I felt like my concerns were being dismissed rather than addressed. Because so much of the conversation was focused on questioning whether I had actually tried to contact the office, I eventually told her that I had even stood outside the office and called while she was inside, and the phone still was not answered. At that point, it was clear that I was spending more time trying to prove that I had attempted to make contact than discussing how to schedule an appointment. What stood out most was the lack of accountability and customer service. When someone takes the time to call, leave messages, submit an online form, and then physically come into the office, the response should be to help solve the problem not to make the person feel as though they need to prove they attempted to make contact. In the end, the difficulty I experienced just trying to schedule an appointment made me decide to look elsewhere. If the scheduling process is this challenging before becoming a patient, it did not give me confidence in what the overall experience would be like. Today I showed up 12min late to my appt and the PT assistant wouldn't see me. I asked if I could be refunded for last appt because of what happened to my son and me needing to leave after 10min of being seen. The man at the front desk could have cared less about any of this and just gave me a number to call. People are human and there is no room for it at PRN, they are rigid and have zero grace. I've also overheard the front desk talking about people they are annoyed with there. Also, there is zero free parking. The whole thing is just a big pain in the butt if you are required to be seen by PT more than once a week. It's a shame for the main PT there because he seemed very knowledgeable and hard working.
