A hearty, delicious meal that definitely satisfied my BBQ craving. I ordered the Pork Sandwich Plate that came with 2 sides for 8.99$, I upgraded one of my sides to the corn nuggets for 99 cents and chose mac and cheese for the other. Upon walking into the establishment you are asked for your drink order before you choose a seat to your liking. I find this to be really efficient and a nice touch of hospitality. Fair warning: you will likely get the itis after eating this comfort food, so I do not recommend trying to sit through a review session like I did after this. All in all this food was tasty but I don't think it was anything particularly special. Maybe next time I should try the sauces on the bar? I've come to Adam's and had great ribs and terrible ribs. I will say more often than not they seem to know what they're doing and it's a good choice to satisfy your barbecue craving. Adam's has been a staple of Gainesville since before I've arrived and it's tradition to stop here at least once during your time at UF. For around $10 you'll have all choices of barbecue from pulled pork sandwiches to ribs and your choice of sides. Service is always fast, friendly, and attentive. Sometimes you might awkwardly find yourself the only person dining in like I did on July 4th, but then before you know it, it'll randomly get swamped with people. Overall I'd say the best ribs I had from them are a moist fall off the bone 7.5 and the worst a dry 3. Since I live off 13th I always go to Adam's for a quick barbecue fix; however, you could definitely find better barbecue at Pearl's in Micanopy if you're willing to take the drive, and 4Rivers if you're willing to pay a premium price. The sides aren't anything to toot your horn about. They aren't great, but they get the job done. I will see they are on the the larger size and that the servers tend to be more generous with portions than you'd think. My favorite are always the jalopeno cheddar poppers, cause honestly who doesn't love them? Always sample some of the different barbecue sauces they have at the front! All in all Adam's is a Gainesville staple and hopefully it'll stay that way for years to come. read more

No, no, no. My mom came up to visit me at college and wanted to take me out to eat. I'd seen Adam Rib Co around before and said I wanted to eat there. The place was completely empty except for the staff, which were very nice. We sat ourselves and ordered ribs with Mac and cheese, corn, and cornbread. The food looked delicious when we got it, but unfortunately the taste did not match the appearance whatsoever. The ribs were cold and extremely chewy, the mac was limp and not cheesy or creamy at all, and the corn was bland and watery. The cornbread, however, was good, but it's not hard to make good cornbread. We actually had placed a to-go order for my roommate, but as soon as we tasted the food we canceled the order. We hardly ate the food at all and they only comped us $5 off our meal. We honestly just wanted to be out of there so we didn't care too much and left. Going to Adam's Rib Co feels like going home. I know that's weird but my husband and I had a favorite BBQ joint in our college town. That place served awesome food and great service, and we'd go whenever we had a little extra money. Adam's has that similar vibe. It's a hometown joint and the people who work there seem to care about their customers. The service is great. The place is always clean. The food comes out properly cooked and really fast. My husband and I are on special diets so going to Adam's is a rare treat for us. We gave in to our laziness last week and stopped in for some dinner. I could have gotten chicken fingers (we all know how I feel about chicken fingers) but, boy, I haven't had a hot dog in a really long time. So I got a hot dog and fries. It was so good. It was nice to know that if I treat myself to a forbidden food I won't be let down. So thank you, Adam's Rib Co, for being a reliable place I can go to indulge. The place is loud, but that is an architectural issue that I'm not sure how you fix other than by adding rugs, which isn't exactly a great thing in a restaurant. I have been to their store that has closed many times, their North store once. We always get the family "dinner" about $45. It feeds a family of five, and I have a collage age son, Ethan. Ordered the pulled pork plate with green beans and mac & cheese one day, and a pulled pork sandwich to go, and the Angus burger with crinkle fries and banana pudding on the other day. The pulled pork was delicious, as well as the sides. I loved the crinkle fries as well as the banana pudding, one of my favorite desserts. The Angus burger was okay, maybe I'm just not an Angus fan. It's also interesting to note that mostly everything that the food is served in or eaten with is disposable (i.e. plastic forks, Styrofoam cups, etc.), which from an environmental standpoint isn't good. I must be picky.... First off, I eat a lot of BBQ. I cook it often as well. But the ribs were ....ok. I must have had an old batch because the ends of each rib were jerky like. the flavors were great and the size of each rib as well as the portion of the entire meal was excellent. the Staff is friendly and the sauce selection is worth a visit alone. Does a really good barbecue place. Probably one of the best in Gainesville. I have a large local beer options, they have lots of different barbecue sauces to choose from and a very friendly staff. One of my favorite things is the soft cushion they mounted on the wall, so you can scan of sit sideways in your booth have a padded spot for your back. We contacted Adam's to provide catering for my son's graduation party. We ordered food for 40 people and everything was fantastic. The employees that we spoke with/emailed we're all very professional and helpful and the delivery of the food was perfect. Adam himself delivered and set up everything and even made a run to Sam's to grab sternos and trays because they were accidentally with his wife. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food-the pork was fantastic, the ribs were full of meat and the chicken was cooked perfectly. We had green beans (amazing), baked beans, corn and Mac and cheese. Nothing super special here, just good decent BBQ at a good price. Small place, does a great takeout service from what I can see, but you can eat there too. I got the 2-rib and 1/4 chicken (white) meal which came with 2 sides and 2 pieces of garlic toast for $14. Considering the size of the ribs, well worth it. The chicken was good, nothing amazing but moist and well cooked. The green beans were standard, not mushy but cooked tender and had nice chunks of pork in with them. The collards were a bit bland. Garlic toast was thick bread that just seemed to have margarine spread on it and some garlic powder before a trip under the broiler. The highlights were the ribs and the baked beans. For a place called Adam's Rib Co. the ribs SHOULD be the star of the show, and they were. HUGE meaty spare ribs which were not too tender, not too chewy and just the right amount of nice creamy fat to keep it all moist. They glaze the tops but serve them dry and honestly they didn't need any sauce, that little bit of hardened BBQ on the top was just enough to make the flavor complete. The baked beans were very well cooked and not overly sweet but also not vinegary at all, and they seemed to have a wonderful bit of warm spice in them, probably cinnamon. Until Bacon's BBQ, Adam's was my go-to BBQ place around town. They do turkey great and is still hands down my favorite bbq turkey around here. I've not been as impressed with their other meats, which have tended to be too dry and a little lacking in the flavor department. I'm routinely disappointed by their brisket. The bone to meat ratio for the ribs isn't usually the best. Out of everything on their lunch/dinner menu, the hamburgers are the items to be completely avoided as they taste pretty close to cheap frozen burgers from the supermarket. All the sides I've tried have been stellar, my favorites being their green beans and fries. The breakfast here needs some attention. The prices have been too high for the quality and quantity I've received. Like their burgers, the bacon tastes like the cheapest product they could find. The french toast is thin and anemic and would require a couple orders to count as a complete meal for your average person. So skip the breakfast and go for the lunch. Their location is small, so the staff has to be good about turning a table, and they succeed at this. If it's packed here, you're okay to wait around a bit as they move quick. My interactions with the staff have been largely positive, although there have been times where I wish they'd keep the politics out of their conversations. I don't really want to hear someone's political standpoint whether I agree or not, while I'm trying to relax at lunch. In the end I feel that what Adam's does well, they do really well, but they need to work on a large portion of their menu to increase the quality of the product they serve. It feels like they're okay being better than most of the other BBQ places in town, but don't want to push it any further. So if you have read some of my previous reviews you can kind of see I am a bbq snob. I love good bbq and will travel near and far to get it. With that being said I am a fan of Adams Rib Co. I have been in twice and have really enjoyed it both times. Both times I have got the Adams delight which comes with ribs, two sides, bread, and banana pudding. (they forgot to give me the banana pudding the last time :(..) It was still okay. One thing I say about bbq places is that if you do not smell the bbq when you are outside of the restaurant then turn around and leave. Well you can for sure smell the bbq and it tastes as good as it smells. The bbq is a little bit of a mix between Kansas City and Memphis style bbq. It is a thick fat rib and has a little gristle but not much. This place does not put sauce on the ribs so you put as much or as little as you want on your meat. Id recommend trying the first bite or two without sauce cause they are very flavorful. I have also had the chicken and I think it tasted really good as well. Lots of spice and herbs and it was tasty. Another favorite here is the broccoli and cheese bites. They are fried and taste soo good. I could make a whole meals off of these. The mac and cheese is okay here and I was not a fan of the coleslaw but I like a vinegar based slaw and this is mayo. I recommend you all visit Adams Ribs Co, you will not leave hungry! read more

This place has great food and service to match. I'd eat here whenever I hade to make trips down to UF Shands for follow up appointments at their burn clinic. I live in Jacksonville where the BBQ is somewhat lacking. The waitress that works there with the short hair is a beautiful girl and as sweet as the iced tea they serve there. My experience at Adam's is limited to one visit, and that's exactly where it will stay. This place is a roachy little outfit with dirty bathrooms, undercooked ribs and unpleasant servers (I shouldn't generalize, our server was unpleasant.... maybe we got lucky). We ordered the rib platters and our ribs (all of them) had pink undercooked areas. This is not an exaggeration: two days later, my wife is still sick to her stomach. If you are going out to eat and are looking for a restaurant with a nice ambiance this is not it, but if you are looking for some good BBQ, Adam's is the place. They only have a few tables and as far as I can tell most people get their orders to go. The ribs are big and meaty with just the right smoky flavor and I have also enjoyed their pulled pork both as a meal and on a sandwich of garlic toast. Dunkin' Donuts, for those that are wondering about the makeup and history of this dining location. This place does a few things right, and I like that. Having said that, I'm not overly impressed with their BBQ. But other things such as their breakfast menu are delicious - I LOVE applewood bacon. The burgers are the pre-frozen Sams type. The Mac & Cheese is awesome and much better than Sonny's or David's. They have counter service with a long row of sauce varieties. However I've come to the conclusion that Swamp Sauce, 3-Pepper Sauce, Sweet & Heat, Sweet Then Heat, and Hot BBQ sauce are all the same darn sauce. So no need to get excited there. The staff is attentive, but the place is small and they don't have anywhere to hide, so they kinda have to be available. I usually sit at the counter and enjoyed reading what I assumed were Adam's notes to the staff about being docked tips if he found cigarette butts outside from their breaks. It is obvious from stopping in that they have a lot of regulars, another good sign. So, anyway, this place is what it is. I don't dislike it and go there occasionally - they have nice coupons out there if you look out for them (or they get posted on your door when your neighborhood has clearly posted signs stating that that sort of activity is not allowed). My friend suggested BBQ, and it has been awhile since I've gone hog-wild (see what I did there) on some good BBQ. I looked up some places and saw the reviews for Adams Rib and decided to take the trip. The atmosphere is pretty much a dive. Which is fine, I don't require fancy furnishing. The faded gator posters and trophies just reminded me, once again, that I do live in Gainesville. I got the brisket sandwich with high hopes. Heres where I digress. BBQ goes hand in hand with "obscene amount of food" for me. The point of BBQ is to totally focus on the meat. The meat is given time and seasoning and attention and then the huge slab of meat is put on the table. Feeding frenzy ensues and you waddle out wondering how there was still more meat left. Thats the point of BBQ as I've come to understand it. Half the point is the absolutely ridiculous portions. Back to the brisket. I got two slices of garlic toast (which was actually quite good) with some beef chunks and a swipe of sauce. The small scoop of meat was pretty much hidden under the toast. The meat was also pretty tough. The sauce was way to sugary. I honestly thought of that Loyd's BBQ they sell in tubs at publix in the fridge section. Thats how sweet and meh it was. I used the Mustard BBQ sauce on every bite to cut the sweetness of the plain sauce. Side dishes were decent. The fries were good but I got a small handful, maybe 15. Remember that gorging part I mentioned? The potato salad was alright but also sweet and not very chunky, more of a whipped potato salad. My friend got the mac and cheese and only had a bite because of the indifference he felt towards it. I paid my 8 dollars for the sandwich feeling a little cheated that I was still hungry and not very satisfied. I mean, fries are cheap. Really cheap. Adam's Rib Co. ran a coupon on Gainesville.com recently - $4.99 for a rib dinner for one day only. I decided to go by after work that day. I called before I went to find out if there were any special terms to be aware of such as must buy a drink or dessert. The person on the phone told me that the only requirement was one coupon per person. I said sounds good to me and I'll be there in about 10 minutes. Ten minutes later I arrive at the restaurant. I walk in and the lady asked me dine-in or take-out. I said dine-in is fine. Then she informed me that they were out of ribs but had everything else. I asked why I wasn't told this when I called 10 minutes ago. She said they just ran out. I asked if they were substituting other meats. She said no but they would have more ribs later in the evening. Later on I found out that someone else stopped by later in the evening and ran into the exact same situation. Guess they never had more ribs later in the evening after all. I am very disappointed how the entire situation was handled. I felt this was a total bait and switch operation designed to get more customers in the door. read more

I came here after hearing my friend saying how good it was and that it was the best he had tried in Gainesville. Unfortunately my experience wasn't the same. I got the pulled pork sandwich while my boyfriend got ribs. I thought that everything was a bit on the dry side. The pulled pork had no flavor at all, it tasted as if they boiled the pork and pulled it instead of making it in the bbq, it had no smokey flavor in it. I had to add a lot of their sauce in order to make it taste good. The meat of the rib was really hard and dry, me and my boyfriend didn't like it. I don't know if the food wasn't as good that day because there were a lot of people there when I went in and it seemed like they didn't have time to do anything. I am beginning to be of the opinion that EVERY barbecue establishment is inconsistent; they are ALL hit-and-miss. Unless it's competition barbecue you may as well roll the dice. At times the ribs I've eaten here have put ribs from Memphis' Central BBQ and Corky's to shame (they have horrible days too....see opening sentence). At times...the ribs have been flat-out nasty (like every other BBQ place I've been to). Maybe it's due to the cost of product? Serving meats that are way passed their prime is still preferable to throwing pounds of it away as a depressing last resort. I think Adams is definitely a solid three stars, probably more like a 3.5. For Gainesville I think it has the best overall BBQ. I've had a variety of things from Adams, but I think their stand out here is the ribs....HUGE beef ribs! Tender (not fall off the bone but it gets the job done), no dry rub just all around great smokey flavor. They have a larger variety of sauces you can add to it if you so desire. I got the four rib dinner and could barely finish it. The three rib dinner is far more manageable. The sides are also very good here, my favorites being the greens and Mac and cheese. Greens are seasoned well with pork and the Mac and cheese is definitely home made. Yum! Everything else here I would say is quite adequate, nothing mind blowing but good BBQ. T The only thing I've ever been disappointed in was the brisket. One night my boyfriend and I tried to go to Key Bros but they had a sign on the door that said "out of brisket" I pretty much thought "screw that" since brisket is the only thing they do well there. Adam's Rib Co is right down the street from my house, so I usually give them a call when I get the BBQ crave. I have had a few items on their menu, including the burger, pulled pork sandwhich, and of course the ribs. Once I tried the ribs I pretty much have ordered them every single time since. They are huge! I have a big appetite and the 3 rib dinner is plenty for me. The meat falls right off the bone which some people don't like, but I'm a huge fan. The burgers are ok. The pulled pork is good. The ribs are excellent. They also have a large assortment of sauces and the staff has always been friendly. I love this place! read more
