My wife and I have eaten at many Korean BBQ's all over the country and even in Korea. This was the first one we left totally dissatisfied. The food had no flavor and you had to ask for EVERYTHING - tables did not have sauces or even salt and pepper or additional napkins. The "steak" was a single piece measuring 3x5 sliced at most 1/8" thick. NO vegetables! The soup was horrible. Instead of providing oil for the grill they gave us two pieces of tallow to melt on the grill which did not even come close to keeping the food from sticking and burning on the grill turning it black after the first batch was cooked. From the food to the quick service and friendly faces, it's such a great spot. If you're looking for just a date night with you and your spouse, they have smaller tables with a grill for you to do the cooking on. They also have two options of pricing for different cuts of meat. But I feel like for each when you get a lot of good stuff. And it is all you can eat. My favorite thing to order is the creamy Bulgogi and their kimchi is amazing. The kimchi has like such a yummy garlic flavor and I haven't found one in stores that I like just as much as that one. Overall the meats were great but wish we could have more seasoning for the meats and not sure if they only provided that for the all you can eat. Came here as a first stop when we got to Gainesville to visit my daughter for her bday bc she wanted Korean bbq. We came late. A little too late for the all you can eat option. I called ahead bc we were a big group of 9 ppl. They said they were able to accommodate us so off we went. It was annoying at first as they initially sat us at a table for 8 ppl. We didn't fit so we stood there like ummmm. Then we had to wait a bit for them to bus a bigger table to really accommodate us. We were on a time crunch to order as the kitchen was closing. Fortunately we were able to place our order in time. Our server David was amazing. Super nice, helpful and accommodating. We ordered some boxes and those who got them very much enjoyed them. We got ribeye steak, brisket, spicy chicken, and shrimp. The beef's were a little fatty but very tasty. The spicy chicken was delicious. Shrimp was good too. We tried three bento boxes, each of them include the protein, rice, grapes, fried dumpling, miso soup, salad and Korean noodles for under $20: Creamy Bulgogi Beef and Spicy Bulgogi Pork- Really delicious and can't wait to try it again. It was really good this was my first Korean BBQ experience and it is pretty expensive for the ayce but it was worth it as we got to order as much as we wanted and tried lots of different meats. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. They also gave us a private room in order to get us seated quicker. The restaurant was pretty busy on a Tuesday night but we were still able to order more frequently. Overall a pleasant experience and I would go here again, the creamy beef bulgogi was my favorite and the rice is very sticky. I really like their dumplings. I recently went back to Beque for the first time in a few years and sadly I feel like the quality went downhill at the same time that the price had gone up. The marinated meats were pretty tasty, but the unmarinated weren't the best. I do wish that the menu had a bit more detail on what each item is, such as including that the BQ bulgogi is unmarinated, as I had assumed it was marinated in a special BQ sauce when I ordered it. It was also extremely cold in the restaurant so the food got cold very quickly, which was a bit unpleasant. The rice quality was low, as if it had been sitting in a pot way too long steaming itself into big globs. The banchan weren't as good as I remember, and my favorite one, the potato, was no longer there, as well as no more yakult at the end of the meal. But as a customer entering a Restaurant with open tables being told im setting up table yet over half tables were clear then after that 5-7 wait no server for another 5-7 of supposed prep time. For being the only KBBQ place in Gainesville, Beque Holic is a decent group setting restaurant. My favorite meat dishes are the Pork Kalbi, BQ bulgogi, spicy pork belly, and pork jummulug. These dishes have the best flavors and are the most savory. You have to try the steamed egg appetizer, and I like to pair the meat with wasabi radish, kimchi, rice and japchae noodles. My only complaints were that the price rose to $35 from $28 for the all you can eat option A (the popular one) but the appetizers became fewer and the quality hasn't improved. I always enjoy KBBQ but the price is something that keeps me from coming back often. Rare to find a AYCA Korean BBQ restaurant around. Beque is amazing. The service is what makes this place so great. It's an experience, not just going out to have a meal. Each time we go we are greeted by a server that is happy we're there. They explain the cooking process and give great tips with the accompanying sauces. They also make good drink suggestions! Do not miss the steamed egg appetizer! It didn't sound too good at first, but I was encouraged to at least try it. Now we always have at least two every time we go. Fluffy, creamy, delicious egg served in a little cast iron pot. The cold apps are also delicious. Pickled wasabi root, caramelized onions, salad, kimchee are all so good. The meat selections are plenty with different things to try. You can also get 1/2 orders of meat so you can try more without getting stuffed so quickly. Through traveling back home from the holidays my husband and I wanted some Korean BBQ (one of our favorite foods and we stop and try everyone we can) Beque did NOT disappoint! The restaurant is very charming and dimly lit, which gave it a very intimate feel to an all you can eat place. Very romantic and great for a date night! The sides it came with we fantastic and many I had never had though I frequent Korean bbq often. The meat were perfectly sized portions and very fresh! So many options again I'm not used to seeing, like Korean fried chicken! Omg I LOVE Korean fried chicken! The service was spectacular and our waiter was so attentive and gave wonderful advise. I really wanted to like this place. I was craving for a great KBBQ but unfortunately, this was not the place. And unfortunately, this is the only place in G'ville. At first, we were told the menu changed and now they are offering something new and the kitchen is working out the kinks. That is perfectly understandable. However, the process doesn't change. It is still a AYCE restaurant but after our initial order, most items were out. The main line the server threw out was, "The kitchen is slammed tonight!" They also ran out of rice! What?? We got there around 8pm on a Saturday night. They said it will take another hour for the rice to be ready. How could a restaurant this large have only one rice maker? We left after 11pm and the rice never came out. Again, we were told, "The kitchen is slammed." The server gave us two types of sauce for dipping. Neither were spicy. I asked for some hot sauce and the server acknowledged that the dipping sauce wasn't spicy and they don't have any hot sauce. Again, new menu, but no hot sauce in a Korean restaurant? That is not a menu item. That is a condiment. No gochujang in a Korean restaurant??Again,"The kitchen is slammed." This is not a real Korean BBQ restaurant. If you are looking for a pseudo KBBQ restaurant and not authenticity, this place will do. This place is not catered to Koreans and that is how they get away with it. No self respected Korean over the age of 30 will take their moms or grandparents to this place. This restaurant can be so much more but unfortunately it doesn't pass any discerning taste. Our server did the best he could but even he left in the middle of our dinner and another server took over. He didn't say a word to us and left. The new server came by and asked us if we needed anything else but told us, "The kitchen is slammed tonight!" Is the experience worth it? To me, honestly no. The menu has a recently changed at Beque Holic. My initial impression sitting down was " oh great! The quality has dropped or the prices have increased." But I am happy to say either was the was case. I get the impression that they limited the menu to save on cost. The quality was just as good or potentially better than past visits. Comparing it to the cheaper Nine Spices, it is definitely better, but it is also a lot cheaper. I believe it is more worth it to go to Nine Spices as it's cheaper and has a lot more options. May 24, 2025 My Wife & I have been to BBQ probably 20+ times. Every time was wonderful until this last time. It was bad enough I am unsure if I will return. We had a $125 gift card with reciept that was purchased from the restaurant. Thank god we had the reciept. Waitress comes back to the table telling us our giftcard isnt good and we need to give her cash. We provide her the purchase reciept for gift card. She goes away, comes back. Says we need to give her cash for our bill. I ask for manager. She says manager is not there. But she already called him and we need to pay our bill, they wont accept the BBQ Holic gift card. I make it extremely clear I need to speak to manager, if manager isnt there, I need his phone number. Because BBQ holic is now trying to steal from me. She refuses to allow me to call the manager. Takes the gift card. Comes back and said "oh, it works if I use info from reciept". She still refused to allow me to speak to a manager. I asked to have the remaining balance on the gift card transfered to a new working card. Was told No! She came over. Embarassed me at our table. Refused to provide a manager, refused to let me call a manager. Refused to get me anyone higher up to come assist. Also they where out of To-Go cups. Your a restaurant. Thats not acceptable. Mild annoyance, just icing on a already bad experience. We had multiple failures 1) Whoever sold the gift card, sold the gift card, activated it, then handed us a different gift card that was not activated 2) The waitress did not attempt manual entry of gift card until I kept insisting on a manager. Magicly when she did manual entry using the reciept, it worked. 3) Despite asking for a manager multiple times, she refused, stating he was not there. When I insisted i be allowed to contact/call the manager, she refused. Because she already called him 4) They refused to transfer the remaining gift card balance to a new functioning card. Thus they expect me to go through this again. 5) I want my waitress fired for refusal to allow me to speak to a manager. 6) I want whoever sold the gift card under scrutiny. Is this a scam. I want to start with the fact that the service is always spectacular when we come here, but man, this place has been in steady decline for a while, and today will unfortunately be my last time going, probably :( They said they recently "upgraded the menu" which really just meant they switched to exclusively AYCE by removing the combos and got rid of my favorite banchan dish, the wasabi daikon. All the sauces they give you are way too sweet and have a kinda odd flavor. But, that's easy to ignore because I just want sesame oil and salt anyways for side sauce. I just can't justify the price tag, which is really sad for me because I used to adore this place and would have given it a 5/5 easily back in the day. I've been going to bequeholic for a few years and it still remains a very strong kbbq pick after all the changes it has gone through. I would say the quality has gone down, but I do think it was to pass savings onto the customer especially during high inflationary times. The standard pork belly and brisket still is great, but the salad, sides, and sauces seemed to have been experimented with to save on costs.
