I had an unusual question and the older gentleman working the cashier till at the front of the store not only offered flexibility with his answer, but also great service on the way out (and sharing a story behind the name "WD-40" :) The store is logically arranged; the pricing can be comparable the big box brands (the tags spread across various items on shelving seem to suggest rotating sales that help with cost also). Parking is pretty convenient too: a few free street parking spots upfront and then a more private lot in the back.

There is something about Lee Valley that makes you want to build something the moment you step…read moreinside. Lee Valley has some the most unique tools and gardening implements. I simply love pouring over the catalogs, which themselves are beautifully put together. At the same time, much of the merchandise is like stepping back in time, before power tools. There are even some reprinted old books, which make fabulous gifts. Buying stuff even has an old general store feel to it. There are at least two people you must interact with at the counter and both of them were genuinely friendly. If you know absolutely nothing about the mini round edge planer you're about to purchase, that's okay as above the service counter there's a schedule of classes. Lee Valley also makes it known they're into giving back to the community with some profits going directly to charity.

They weren't and I saw two sales people answer the phone long after I had come in. Eventually, their newest sales person came to help me. She knew nothing and when she, twice, asked for help from the more experienced staff, they answered her and then abandoned her, despite it being obvious she was struggling. After 30 minutes I still didn't have a quote for a standard shower set as she still couldn't figure out the pricing, the parts etc. I asked her to email me the quote when she got it figured out and left. Glen(?)showed me a suggestion in oven cleaners then it was Hugh for the hidden bread maker. After a long time of searching the "back room" it was decided that indeed they did not have the breadmaker! After much work, again on the computer inventory, it was decided that yet another store had one. Hugh offered to have it sent to their store. So, a week later I went to pick it up n yes, it did not exist! I believe it was an owner n anotheranager who again spent much time to find that they no longer made the breadmakers!
