Then I had three of these expensive bulbs that no other store in Victoria or online carries, go within a few weeks of each other. So I head back to Pine Lighting, two guys at the counter, 1 greeted me as I came in, and he was very friendly and helpful, the other guy sat at the counter, pretending to be on the computer but had his phone leaned against the computer screen while he was watching some game, tried to make some small talk with him, but guess whatever he was watching was more important that maintaining and customer relations.. $45 for three bulbs, and left really feeling as though my business was undervalued...can see why this place is devoid of customers. Next time any of the bulbs blow on these tracks, they are going to be removed and upgraded with something from a local business that has better customer service.

We purchased our lighting fixtures from McLaren Lighting for $3,200 when renovating our home…read more Within three or four years, 18 out of 24 ceramic sockets in most of these expensive halogen fixtures burned out. When I went back to McLaren to ask what could be done, they told me it was a common problem but the sockets could not be repaired or replaced. I was told that because the manufacturer's warranty had run out, McLaren would do nothing for us. I understand that most retailers would take the same approach. However, McLaren charges a premium price that is up to ten times higher than purchasing the equivalent product online or at a big box retailer. We decided to patronize McLaren despite the extra cost because we wanted to support a local business and to have support if there was a problem. With respect to the latter, we were clearly very mistaken. Be advised that, despite the premium prices they charge, McLaren will not stand behind their product beyond the manufacturer's warranty. Furthermore, they obviously do not invest sufficient effort, if any, to ascertain the quality of their product before recommending it to their customers. In other words, there is no value added over buying online, which is where we will be purchasing the replacements for the defective junk that McLaren sold us. The one positive thing I can say about McLaren Lighting is that their staff were very polite when dealing with me and my concerns.

We bought a built-in large refrigerator from Ferguson in Burlington 5 years ago. Very expensive to…read morebuy. This refrigerator was delivered and installed by Ferguson. This refrigerator recently died and we have bought a replacement elsewhere. On removing the refrigerator, it was discovered that the required anchor anti-tip bolts were never attached! And the installers also broke a back foot! As this refrigerator was top heavy, these anchor bolts are required for safety reasons! And probably the lack of anchoring might have shorted the lifespan of this refrigerator as it began to sit uneven and felt more wobbly over time. It is our suggestion that Ferguson contact all owners that have purchased built-in appliances that require anchor bolts and have them inspected. They can fall over causing severe damage, and could hurt someone. And finally, if we had to design our kitchen over again, we would never do built-in appliances ever again. They look good. But, they are not worth it!

Although he'd never seen one before he called around to the manufacturer of the product and said "wait a minute, says I have one available". This is a higher-end boutique that showcases the handmade works of local artisans: jewelry, paper goods (greeting cards, stationery), lotions and potions, candles, soaps, gourmet foods, some textile goods (knitted works, scarves, etc.), prints, household gift ideas (ceramic trays, small pottery pieces), and more, much much more. I always loved shopping local and supporting local artisans, so stores like this really speak to me. I really liked how there were posted informational cards throughout the store, talking about all the artists who created the pieces. When you shop here, you know you aren't getting a mass-produced item. It feels more "personal" when you get something made by hand by an artist you know something about. As is usually the case, one pays a premium for hand-made artistic pieces. The prices here are high, as they always are for artisan works. But I think it's worth it.
