Squirrels in the attic/roof. Ugh. Hearing them crawl and whine was driving me nuts (no pun intended). My landlord and his home owner's association were dragging their feet a bit, but as soon as Adcock got involved I felt at ease. I called at 9:30am and they sent out a rep by 10:30am. He explained the process of squirrel removal and was patient with all my questions. I appreciate how knowledgeable they are! Super professional. Each weekday day, they'd come out daily to set traps, observe, remove squirrels, work their magic, Idk what they did. $150 dollars just to have someone come out to take look? There are multiple places that provide free inspections and consultations. Then an additional $550 for trap n removal? There is no way that setting a reusable $20 trap and the cost of gas for a local drive should run a customer $700 dollars before sealing up entry ways. GTFOH with those prices. read more

They charged $250 just to come out and take a look (no other service in the area does this) and then told us they couldn't do the recommended work for three weeks. We obviously weren't going to wait that long, so we're now out $250 for nothing. If they did not have availability to actually do work, they should have informed us of that when we made the appointment. read more

Quite disappointing... I scheduled an appointment & they provided a 4 hour window. An hour after the window closed, I called & the phone just continued to ring. They were a no-show & did not even attempt calling to advise they would not be honoring the scheduled appointment. On a Sunday evening we heard a scratching sound - either a small bird or squirrel - in our ductwork near the furnace. After calling numerous critter control companies (and leaving voicemails) Adcock's not only had a live person answering calls, but Aaron was at our home 8:30 Monday morning - incredible! He throughly examined our ductwork - even crawling through our tiny attic - to find the critter. We were so impressed we asked him to come back to add hardware cloth/screen to the top of our chimney, end vents, and our kitchen exhaust. Please do not use this service. We recently had them come out to check on exclusion work they did for us last fall because we saw a number of birds in the area. There is always a $95 inspection fee to come out no matter the reason, including when it is to inspect their own work. (Note: The services we used them for last year were a $125 repair. We were not told at that time the inspection fee would not apply to that repair and they adjusted it for us. I am an honest homeowner trying to take care of repairs - I pay all bills fully and promptly. I appreciated the adjustment at that time although found it frustrating there was this miscommunication. But as a result, we really tried to get it right this time! We double checked and were told the inspection fee would apply to repairs over $250 - so we thought it would be applied it our repair.) We paid the fee and decided to do the work so because we had already put $95 towards it. I received a bill in the mail yesterday for the full cost, without the $95 adjustment. I figured it was an error and called today to sort it out. Wow. Wow. Wow. The customer service at this place is nonexistent. After explaining my issue, I was transferred to Michelle who is possibly the owner? She answered the phone and asked me what my issue was. "Did your assistant not explain it to you?" "Yes, she did. "Ok so...?" It was incredibly awkward and rude. It honestly felt like she thought I was some sort of scammer or lowlife. So I then explained it again to her and she informed me that inspection fees are only applied to repairs that cost over $250, which is now their minimum repair. I advised her that $250 was the cost of our repair. Apparently, that means that for your inspection fee to get fully applied, your repair has to cost $345! Incredibly misleading language and deceptive to the consumer. A very easy thing to correct with clear language IN WRITING ON THE ESTIMATE. A very easy thing to explain in KIND language to a paying customer! She eventually angrily offered to adjust it, but I was so angry and floored by the customer service experience I declined. I have used them in the past when I was having a bat issue in my home and the technician was great. Fast forward to now and the issue is back. I scheduled a day and time but I had a schedule conflict. A young lady named Nicky called and asked if I still needed their services I said "no" and before I could say anything else she curtly said "okay bye". The tech said he could wait for my contractor to arrive and open the door for him (I knew ahead of time that contractor would Be half hour late and I told this to tech ahead of time). To make a long story short, both my contractor and I drove 30 min to the house after the tech said he would wait for us and then he never showed up; he later said he had other jobs. I understand that we had to push back our appt time, but he could have just told us that we would have to reschedule instead of telling us he would wait and then not showing up after we both drove there. I called the Adcock's office to tell them what happened and ask to reschedule, but the lady on the phone told me was very rude and said I was wrong about what happened. Both my husband and I were referred to Adcock Trapping Service by neighbors but I have to advise against using this company after being told by the racist owner, "I don't send my technicians to SE DC with cash," after requesting to be refunded with cash because we paid with cash. You can come to SE to pick up a cash payment but Penn Branch is too dangerous to come here to refund cash? They were also completely non-effective and that's because their process does not involve coming into the home AT ALL to inspect what they're actually supposed to be trapping. That makes zero sense. How can you set traps and not know what you're setting traps for? Yes, they found a hole on the roof caused by squirrels but we are clear that the activity we hear in our attic is not necessarily squirrels, as the movement is far too heavy. Aaron and Ari showed up to inspect my vents because I suspected I had birds nesting there (as they have nested in my vents before a few seasons ago). I thought my vent protectors were cracked at the bottom and that's how the birds got in but Aaron mentioned the clips were loose and secured them. He also checked and confirmed that no birds have made their way inside. He advised that the vent protectors were perfectly fine and didn't need to be replaced right now, which saved me a lot of money. A long but thorough review: I hired Adcock's last fall because I heard something rummaging around in the walls of my townhouse. They came out and identified the squirrels - plus their entrance, near my roof - and explained their trapping system (humane, effective, etc.). So I paid the $425+ and they took care of the issue. Expensive, but I would probably rate around 4 stars for the initial experience. The guy talked to me about guarantees, etc, where if they came back and re-entered, they would come back and re-trap, no problem. Fast forward a year, to today. I see the same squirrels (mangy leader) rummaging around on - this time - the opposite corner of my roof and confirm they are now living in my attic - again. So I call up Adcock's and ask about their follow up procedures. The woman who answered the phone INSISTS it's not the same squirrels or in any way related, so there is no follow up besides a brand new service. There were no further questions, no more of an explanation besides "coincidence," only outright denial that these squirrels are related or the same. So to do the same job agian they quote me the $425+ to come back out. But because I'm a "repeat customer," they'll offer me a $25 discount...how generous. Here's the reason for the poor overall rating: I've never had an issue with squirrels prior to last year when I hired Adcock's, and "it's coincidence" is not an explanation for repeat service from a company whose business is to profit off of service. Further questions about the scenario(s), an explanation to back up their immediate refusal that it's not the same squirrels, or a refresher on what does/does not qualify for the guarantee/warranty on my past service would have been the appropriate response. Without that, it seem pretty clear they care less about quality of service and more about gaining "repeat customers." read more

We had an excellent experience with Adcock's Trapping. They recently did a great job removing a squirrel from our attic duct vent, inspecting the entire house for any other animals and possible access points, and placing new vent covers over both the attic duct vent and dryer vent holes (both of these had been covered with plastic mesh types by previous owners, yet both had fallen off completely in recent months due to poor materials and construction). Adcock's team was efficient and responsive throughout the process of trapping, removal, inspection and sealing of potential future access points (including the aforementioned installation of animal and fire proof "dual door" style exterior vent covers on both attic and dryer vents). They got trappers over to our house within 24 hours of my initial call, caught the squirrel promptly, and then followed up with the vent cover placement the day after the squirrel was removed (once we were sure we weren't trapping anything else IN the house at that point). The guys were very nice and informative and arrived as expected every time (four visits total). Price was reasonable and in line with or lower than other estimates we received initially. Note: They also offer 24 hour emergency service for urgent wildlife removal situations if necessary. And--at least in my experience--they actually answer the phone during non-business hours so you can in fact get someone to perform such service if necessary. OR so you can simply talk to someone about the scary noises you're hearing and have them confirm that they're not likely coming from the deadly raptors they sound like, and are in fact from one small animal that you can safely wait another day to remove... Our situation fell into the latter category and was therefore not urgent enough to require on site service in this case. But it's reassuring to know this is an option if necessary, and I imagine others might feel the same. (Two other companies I called initially claim to offer 24 hour service as well, but did not answer the phone or even respond to my messages until late the next day. Adcock's answered. They were nice and prompt in their service when I first called them with my rodent problem. They did their follow ups as scheduled and seemed to have the problem fixed until I heard activity in my attic which was the problem in the first place.(squirrels) When I called to explain the situation the rep assured me that all the squirrels were gone and had sealed the point if entry for the pests. She was not friendly this time around, the trapper never called back to discuss a solution. A few weeks later the hvac technician was in the attic servicing the ac when he informed me of a dead squirrel that we may want to remove. They sure are what they say they are they trapped the poor squirrel inside my attic until his death, they had the audacity to argue with me about this so please look elsewhere thanks for your time! Whoooo, LAWD Jesus, 'twas a raccoon on my deck!! Too much? Really? (Sigh) I just can't say it without the hillbilly twang, ya know? It just don't seem fittin! Ok...it's true. I had a raccoon using my back deck as a bathroom! Ewwww! After a lackluster performance as Annie Oakley, which consisted of buying a trap, watching my mom navigate around all the "gifts" said culprit left so we could get to just the right spot for trappin', I called several companies. I had to accept that I was a) way out of my stilettos and fine wine environment b) at a loss as to what to do with it once it was caught as I didn't know anyone who would shoot it and, to be clear, nothing less would do AND c)...it smelled. Adcock to the rescue. Out of all the companies I tried, they called back immediately, priced $300 for three nights and made the appointment. The day of trapping...it snowed. *roll eyes*. No raccoon for 5 days. I knew the bill was running up so I called them to say no raccoon and come grab the trap before I'm broke. Though it was after hours (not sure how we should know what after hours are since they don't post hours anywhere!!) the management called me back immediately to let me know, due to the weather they only charged me for one day and so I still had two more in my package. Now that the snow was gone, the raccoon was likely to show in the next two days covered under my fee. I arrived home same day and low and behold..,that nasty sucker was in the trap spitting mad and making a racket. My cat, Sir Louboutin Del Moscato Furbritches of the house Shecosta, who had felt some odd connection to his daily visitor was inside...singing the songs of his people, in solidarity, I suppose. Sigh.... Had to call Adcock back to say, mission accomplished. Again, it was after hours and no one (other than me and my neighbors eardrums from the racket) was in danger so they would wait until the am to get the raccoon and the trap. It was a loooong night. The cat finally threw up his power paw to his fallen comrade and retired to his scratching room, around 9 PM but the raccoon didn't give up the fight until about 4 am. Around 8 am, the next day, raccoon and trap were picked up by Adcock and all is right with the world. I bet ya next time, my neighbors will volunteer to send it on to glory just to avoid the noise. Adcock helped us get rid of two groundhogs that were burrowing under our concrete patio. One was an easy catch the first day but the second one decided it wanted nothing to do with the traps despite the juicy apples left. After I called and let Adcock know that the groundhog was happy scamper past the traps onto my deck and into the yard they made adjustments and caught the second one. They come by everyday and leave you a note letting you know what time they stopped by, if the caught anything or made changes. read more

Beware of scheduling an appointment for mice in walls or ceiling. I was clear that I had heard what I believed to be mice, and the service communicated on the phone was not the service received. I was told there would be a $250. fee and for this fee traps could be set. I asked how traps would be set for in the wall noise and the answer was an access panel could be installed. No mention, that the fee was an inspection only. The person who arrived had no intention of setting traps or installing an access panel. He provided only an inspection of the house, and indicated that until the whole house was 100% closed off to mice entering the house, no traps could be set. This made sense, but this was not communicated at the time of scheduling. I received a $250. bill for a quote to secure my house - minus a quote to secure the wall in question. The wall that had mice suspected of entering was not inspected due to a deck and when I suggested to expose the wall at a later time, there was little interest in including that inspection in the fee. My experience was a solid "no" due to deceptive communication at the time of scheduling. read more

I have never felt the need to leave a review for a business. If I have received decent/good/excellent service, I always make sure to let the company know and thank them for the service. I will also place the info on my local listserve. If the service is sub-standard or poor, I always let the company know in order that they have the opportunity to correct. I never post about that poor service. Today, my elderly mother had an appt scheduled with Adcock's. The employee (I'll do him a favor he doesn't deserve and not name him) showed and after hearing the request (which was the same request given in order to schedule the appt) and he said he didn't have time to do that. My Mother asked several questions, to which she either received an answer that either didn't make sense to her and didn't make sense to what she was promised they would do. Long story short (and much more conversation), the employee called my Mother disrespectful. There were 2 other people who heard this exchange--one inside the house and another immediately next door. I called the manager. She was curt in her response to my complaint of the tech's disrespect to my Mother, to his dismissive attitude and unwillingness to do what was requested. I suggested 2 things: he was having a bad day or he didn't want to help an African-American woman. To the latter, she quickly dismissed this being the case. I told her she could speak for herself on that front, but she couldn't have known his motives. Companies should be clear: elderly people should not be messed with. Age is not equivalent to sucker. Wish I could give less than 1 star for this company. I hired them to come out to clean some rats out of my crawl space, the technician came out, explained that the follow up was the inspection and they would come out and look into whatever was going on. They came out, did the inspection outside the house and said everything looked good, but needed to come back to look in the neighbors yard. They were supposed to call me 30 min before so they could come in the house and look in the crawl space (since that's where I was having the problem) but they never did. They were also supposed to get the dead rats out of there as well, but they didn't do that either. I called the company back and they said they wouldn't be able to make it back out until the following week to complete the inspection and remove the rats (such a lovely smell after a week) but they wouldn't need to look in the crawl space for the inspection. Uh, what? That's where the issue is so why would you not need to look in there? They always sounded annoyed on the phone as well. The following week, they sent out a technician to do the rest of the inspection, except that person wasn't even qualified to do the inspection! He removed the rats and reset the traps. The techs are nice and I asked them to take a look down in the crawl space to see if they saw any openings. They saw them, took pictures and sent them to their office. I called to make an appt to try to get the holes covered because it was costing me a lot to have someone keep coming out and remove the rats... but they said they would get back to me to see if someone they parter with could fix it. Tried calling again, no answer, 2 days in a row. They are terrible at communication all around. I decided to hire someone else to come over and fix it because I did not want to give any more time, effort, or money into this company. I still haven't heard anything back from the company for the follow-up on whether or not they would be able to fix it. Glad I was able to find someone else in the D.C. area to come out and take care of this issue, because who knows when it would have been completed. After hearing basement noises that I thought might be rodents, I scheduled an inspection with Adcock. The technician could not find any droppings in the basement, which puzzled him, but stated I might have rats or mice. He placed three traps under a stairway, briefly inspected the exterior, and wrote a proposal for $2000 to do extensive rodent-proofing (which would only be guaranteed for one year for mice/rats). He also mentioned I might need a sewer-smoke test, which would be an additional cost. After he left I found a nest under my kitchen sink. Adcock's traps did not catch anything, so after a week I called to schedule a trap retrieval. I asked that a technician also deal with the nest I found, including sealing up any entry holes. The customer service rep said she would "have to ask the technician if they deal with nests." She also stated they do not do "interior work," meaning sealing the entry holes near the sink. Why would they offer to charge $2K to seal exterior holes but not any inside? More importantly, why would they not automatically agree to deal with a nest, which can harbor disease and enable the mice or rats to multiply? I think they had an agenda to up-sell a $2K job, plus the sewer-smoke test, rather than deal with a smaller job - removing the nest. Another exterminator stated that the $2K price was ridiculous - that no one can guarantee they have repaired every crack or hole on a property (with a very old house) or that the rodents won't return. I can't speak to their trapping capabilities, but if you suspect you have rodents, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. $225 for an inspection of the perimeter of the house is steep. Better to go with a Pest Control company who will charge less, lay and replace traps as needed and provide bait stations. read more

We had birds in our fourth floor bathroom vent. From the onset the company demonstrated professionalism. The person was able to give me a quote on what was needed and the day of service, Eric and Matt were really professional and got the job done. They arrived early, assessed the house and gave feedback on current problem areas and areas that could use service in the future, and were able to remove the birds nest without issue. They were honest hard working and explained things thoroughly. Although adcocks is more pricy than other companies, but the professionalism and costumer service were well worth it. Would highly recommend Adcock Trapping Service, again! Used them 25 years ago to remove squirrels from the attack and trap one in the basement. They also wrapped the roof with a 5 year guarantee that is still holding up decades later. Other neighbors have also used them. Called Adcock again recently for a squirrel that sometimes visited. Bob, who is very experienced was professional, courteous, thorough and knowledgeable. He provided a reasonable estimate, plus found the fan required banding [that was overlooked by another company]. Bob also first checked for a couple of days to determine if trapping was even necessary. [The other company wanted to set traps immediately, etc. for a much higher price upon securing payment] Trapping wasn't needed and the Construction crew (Aaron and Willie) that came to do the final repair of banding the fan was also great and informative. read more

Despite having owned an end-unit townhouse for 14 years, this was the first time we'd encountered a problem with birds nesting in the dryer vent. In a matter of just a few days, birds could be seen coming and going, nesting material hanging out of the side of the house, and chirping could be heard from inside the powder room. And, of course, bird poop. Lots of bird poop. Admittedly, Adcock's was the first company that showed up in a search, both alphabetically and otherwise. They also came recommended by a chimney sweep company I mistakenly thought could take care of the problem. They were prompt--came out the very next day, well within the time frame given; and were fast, courteous, and most importantly, effective. They quickly blew out the nesting debris from the inside, cleaned the vent from both ends, and installed a mesh panel to prevent the birds from coming back. Bob spent a lot of time carefully inspecting every corner of our home inside and out for any signs of bats/mice or other animal issues. He climbed into attics checked under house outside roofs around windows etc... He was very careful he did a very impressive job. He made suggestions for extra screening around vents. He said we did not have any signs of any bats or animal. Very impressed with Bob professional demeanor, would highly recomend them! read more

Chris came out and not only was he very knowledgeable, he placed a few traps and checked the entire perimeter noting places where critters could enter. Extremely professional, fast, and honest. Chris and Donald came out to clean dryer vents for about 8 houses in our neighborhood. When they finished my neighbor's, they called to ask if they could come a little early. They arrived, went straight to work, lots of hustle, no wasted time. Answered all questions thoroughly and professionally. They didn't find any nests in my dryer vent, so they just cleaned it out the vent, popped a new cap on the vent outlet and charged me half of the fee. By the time I got back outside, they were picking up the lint and plastic pieces from the ground and cleaning my alley to make it as good as new. They even brought their own trash bags. I honestly haven't seen such professional service in a very long time. No complaints about how high they had to climb or how it's oh-so-hard to get a ladder that high (to the 4th story). Not too thrilled with their lack of thoroughness. I had to keep calling because either the "inspector/trapper" did not leave a door tag or did not complete a full week of inspecting my attic after I paid up front in full. Was promised a return call and did not receive it. However they did follow up with another week of inspections.. only after I complained. The final day of repairs were done but once again no door tag to indicate they really came and did the repairs thus I had to call back again. I heard squirrel noises up in my cathedral ceiling area for a month or two before I called them. I'd seen them chewing on the woodwork and I tried using the sprays on the roof, etc. to avoid paying the trapping fee, but it didn't work. After hearing the noise for a while and then seeing the holes the squirrels were chewing into the siding of my house I figured it was time to pay the money for a professional. I called around to several places, which (oddly) all had a $425 basic charge. Oligopoly much? Adcock's had the best reviews, so I went with them. The initial trapper person came on time, with equipment, did the inspection and then, in addition to giving me the plan for the trapping, gave me several estimates for the work that could be done to fix the chew holes. I said I would hold off on the estimates until I knew the trapping was done. I paid them their $425 in good faith that they would trap at least 4 squirrels and I would hear no more scratching. Two weeks later, I had heard nothing from the company (no phone calls, e-mails or door hangers), but I had heard plenty from the squirrels. I called the company to complain, they said they would send someone out again. Another week passed and still no word from the company, but, for some reason, the scratching went away. In this lull, I called them again to see if I could arrange the repair to plug the holes so no new squirrels could get in. They said they would send someone out to fix it, and then called me the day of to tell me they didn't have the materials and would call me back when they got them. Another 2 weeks passed. No word. I called them threatening to blast them on social media. The next day I get a call from an owner saying that they would refund me the initial $425 and I could call it quits or I could not cash the check and they could do another round of trapping and the repairs for free. I opted for the latter, hoping that they would finish the job professionally. For a week or so I got door hangers and, at the end, a phone call saying they had done the repairs. They said they caught ZERO squirrels. I get home from work that day and I saw (I kid you not) SIX squirrels on my roof. Also, around this time, they kept asking to do work in my house. They wanted to see the attic (which I don't have... it's a cathedral ceiling). I told them that several times, and that I saw squirrels chewing on the woodwork, but they kept insisting that there must me mice inside and they wanted to trap there (for an additional fee). I view it as just another ploy for them to scam people out of money. So here I am, 4 months later. I have a couple of poor quality patches on my woodwork, I still hear squirrels in my "attic" and Adcocks has taken $425 of my money for doing basically nothing. Eff them. read more

Hmmmmm (deep breath), let me make sure I am understanding this correctly: I have a female tenant notify me and tell me that they have a rodent problem on Tuesday. I call this company and schedule an appointment for Wednesday morning. The tenant calls and tells me about the service call and states that the company will call us (the landlords) with the action that is needed. It is now Thursday afternoon and my husband calls because no one from the company has called to discuss the service call with us. He was told the invoice is in the mail?! What? and also that they would need to go under the deck to find out more and it will cost $XXX to just look. Me being the female that I am, that does not work for me. I call back when I am off of work 6pm and get the voicemail stating leave a number if it is an emergency or call back during business hours. Ok I left a message. I then go to the website to find the business hours no hours. Ok I am thinking in my head what are the business hours. I did not know that pest contol companies work regular 8 hour days, shame on me. So unexpectedly I receive a callback. So I say blah blah blah what is the resolution. Response: You have reached the emergency line I can call you back in the am when the office is open. Ok so I am asking the woman, we called on Tuesday to have this situation rectified. You do sameday service right? It is now Thursday evening, basically Friday. Conversation ends with she will call me in the am when she can look at my file. The problem that I am having is not just with this company but rather with service professionals in general. If I am having a problem today it is hard for me in my head to understand why it would not be remedied that day. If I was told it would take X number of days then that is reasonable then I could understand. But when I have to callback to be told we laid traps...ok and that doesn't stop them from coming in?! Service professionals have us at their mercy no matter how long it takes they know that we need them and if it is not urgent for them they could careless how we feel. Not only do I have to worry about the situation I also have to worry about losing tenants because I am unable to remedy the problem in what I think is a reasonable time period. Having worked in customer service and still working with clients I have to constantly put myself in the other persons shoes and think what can be done now (and not later) even if it is what they want. As a service provider I may not agree with a customers urgent need, but they would not have contacted me for services if they didn't need me and want it done quickly. This is the second property that I have contracted them from services. I am at their mercy. They can and will charge me some obscene amount because it is not something I can do nor do I know what they have or will do will work. Idk why my experiences with services on Yelp are not like most, restaurants on the other hand are pretty dead on. HTH read more

I had 2 snakes in my pool skimmer, and not knowing whether or not they were venomous, I called Adcock's. Their tech came within a couple hours and was extremely knowledgeable and quickly removed the snakes. I was also very thankful to hear that they are a humane trapping company, and that the snakes would be relocated to a new home. read more

Pro's: the guy who comes to check out the problems seems very professional *the guys who come to trap are great Cons: *I prepaid for them to fix the hole the squirrels had made; bad move! It took them forever to follow-up and do it (4 phone calls!) *I had more work for them, but they didn't follow-up *overall, just a veneer of professionalism They come highly recommended, and I like many things about them, but I would not recommend them in the end. They just aren't like a real company soup to nuts. Very haphazard (tho' I will say they are miles better than their nearest competitor who assured me that there were no squirrels in the house). This morning we needed to have a snake removed from an awning in Annapolis. We discovered it while trying to remove a recurring bird's nest and inadvertently grabbed what looked like a strange cable that happened to be a rat snake. After calling one vendor that was going to have to send an inspector out "sometime this afternoon" before later sending the wildlife team on Monday because they don't work on weekends, we found Wildlife Removal Services online. This is also known as Adcock Trapping services. Nicki answered the call and sent over Dan within 50mins, straight from another job. Dan was amazing, shared that he "loves the snake jobs" and that he has his own pet snakes. He put us right at ease and removed the snake while educating us about it. So happy to know there are people who love this work as snakes are not our thing! We would definitely call Adcock, Dan and Nicki again. Dan says they also serve the DC and northern Va area. Nicki took my cc payment over the phone and was super friendly. It wasn't cheap as we paid the emergency weekend fee, but it was so well worth it.
