If I could give this company half a star, I would. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I rarely leave reviews, but after months of frustration, poor communication, scheduling failures, and ongoing concerns about workmanship, I feel obligated to share my experience in hopes of helping other homeowners avoid the same ordeal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I initially contacted Senate Pest Control after hearing what I believed was a squirrel in my attic. My first impression was excellent. The inspector who came to my home was phenomenal--professional, knowledgeable, thorough, and exactly the type of representative that gives customers confidence they selected the right company. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Unfortunately, everything seemed to go downhill after the initial traps were installed. The very next morning, I received a call around 8:00 a.m. asking me to place a credit card on file for attic remediation services that had not yet been performed. Although I provided the information, I was uncomfortable being asked for payment arrangements before the work had even begun. During that same call, I requested that a manager contact me regarding several concerns. As of the date of this review, I am still waiting for that callback. That request was made in March. The scheduling issues that followed were relentless. During the trapping phase, I was routinely given appointment windows of 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. It was considered a good day if a technician arrived by 6:30 p.m. The repeated disregard for appointment windows demonstrated a complete lack of respect for customers' time. Once trapping was completed, patchwork repairs were scheduled. The technician arrived with a 20-foot ladder only to discover that a 30-foot ladder was needed, forcing the appointment to be rescheduled. The repair was then rescheduled for a Saturday morning between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. No one showed up. No phone call. No email. No explanation. When I called first thing Monday morning, I was casually informed that the appointment had been rescheduled and that someone would return the following Saturday. No one had bothered to notify me. Eventually, the patchwork was completed. Because the repairs were performed at a height that I could not personally inspect, I requested photographs of the completed work. Despite multiple requests, I never received them. Even after the patching and sealing work was supposedly completed, the traps remained in my attic for approximately three additional weeks because of scheduling issues, late arrivals, and repeated rescheduling. Attic remediation was eventually scheduled for April 22 with an arrival window of 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Instead, workers arrived around 7:00 a.m., forcing me to scramble and make unexpected arrangements for my daughter. While the crew unloaded materials into my driveway, I noticed the insulation they intended to install. It appeared worn and weathered. More concerning, the packaging indicated an R-38 rating despite my contract specifically calling for R-49 insulation. When I questioned the discrepancy, I was told the R-38 insulation was only being installed over the attic access hatch. That explanation was unacceptable. My contract clearly specified R-49 insulation, and I expected the materials outlined in our agreement to be used. Had I not happened to notice the insulation myself, I would never have known there was a discrepancy between what was being installed and what was specified in my contract. After significant back-and-forth discussions, the remediation had to be rescheduled. Approximately two weeks later, the remediation was completed. After the crew left, I discovered fiberglass insulation scattered throughout my basement utility room, including around my HVAC equipment. I immediately contacted the company. To my astonishment, I was asked whether I could simply sweep it up myself. The issue was never whether I was physically capable of cleaning the insulation. The issue was determining why insulation from an attic remediation project was appearing in my basement and whether there was an underlying problem creating a potential safety concern. After expressing my concerns, a technician was dispatched to my home carrying nothing more than a dustpan. Upon seeing the amount of insulation present, he stated, "Oh, they didn't tell me it was this much insulation," and left without performing any work. Once again, I had to request managerial intervention. Another crew was eventually scheduled to return and address the issue. As of the writing of this review, I am still awaiting a permanent resolution. I have attached photographs showing the insulation accumulation and what appears to be insulation coming from areas near the ductwork. From the moment he arrived, his attitude felt dismissive and uninterested, which immediately set the tone. During the inspection, he refused to check certain areas, saying he "couldn't inspect because the bed was in the way," instead of making any reasonable effort or offering guidance. He even asked me whether he should inspect the basement--something I had already explained was part of the service I needed. As a professional, I expect the technician to conduct a full inspection and then advise based on findings, not ask me what to do next. Before completing any real inspection, he started quoting $350 upfront and staying the payments are monthly. It felt like he was trying to sell services without caring. Terrible! Here for mice and was told they would seal entry points. The first "tech" came and set out a few "bait stations" and glue traps. Nothing that I hadn't tried and was about $50 worth of crap for a $350 upfront fee and $50 a month for a year!! Came back and said they would only seal the places that I had identified. I was told differently at the sales pitch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The salesman spent most of the time telling about the great life he has, traveling all over[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. The last tech said the first one set wrong bait. Senate provided service to eliminate ants in our kitchen. They did an excellent job. Tey are reliable and effective. The Tech was excellent.

I live in Washington, D.C. and had a contract with Senate for about 4 years. When I had major issues, like possible mice in my attic or pantry moths, inspectors came out and quoted high prices. For my attic ( I was on a contract with them), the inspector seemed not to care -- he was hell-bent on what he could get from me. Most recently, for a pantry moth issue (I was no longer on contract), an inspector came out, quoted a price and then changed the quoted amount. He was clearly not being honest and setting his own price. When I asked for a base price document for their services, he didn't have one. I immediately ended the visit, as I didn't trust him. I called Senate and asked for a baseline pricing list, as I understand that the cost of services can be more based on the severity of a pest control issue. It was obvious to me that the rep had talked to the inspector who had come to my home, as she supported the inspector's lie. I don't recommend Senate -- they are not truthful. The inspector, who's the sales rep, too, determines the price but won't share a price list. They are okay for keeping basic insects (ants, spiders, etc.)under control, but be aware if you need them for anything else. I would rate them 0 for services outside of anything basic. read more

Story is lengthy but necessary. I would absolutely NOT recommend this company to my worst enemy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They are very good at pulling you in as a new customer and communicating with you to set up new service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had total attic remediation done in July, 2025. The company they subcontracted to do the work came out and completed the job. The same day in the evening through the present, my upstairs has reeked of a very foul and unpleasant odor. It smells like rotten cabbage mixed with bowel. The only way to get the smell out is to have the windows open. Once I close them, the smell is back. I've lived in my home for almost 15 years and never smelled such a thing. I am a very neat and clean person. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I contacted the owner, Nick. We had a pleasant conversation, and he arranged for someone to come check out the problem[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. The gentleman arrived and smelled it instantly. He said he smelled something but wasn't familiar with the smell because he was not in the "installation" department. He was in the department that identifies dead animals....smh. I'm not sure why Nick sent him especially since I told him there wasn't anything dead upstairs or in the house. The smell was coming from the so called "new" chemicals and installation they installed. Fast forward, Nick requested to have someone from the contracted company that installed the installation to come out. Well, this gentleman said he didn't smell anything was more concerned with checking my vents....smh. Yet, another wasted trip. I've called Nick several times, 10 times to be exact within a 3-week timespan. He has yet to return my calls, and it's September 25th...smh. That is not behavior of a President of a company that stands behind their work. I left a more reputable company to go with Sentate. The WORST mistake I could've made. Senate might be good with other services but definitely not attic remediation. I'm thinking the installation and chemicals used were CHEAP. I had already explained that I was at work and the consultant continued calling me. I gave him that.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]But during that same call, I explained that my roommates would let him in, show him around, and handle the consultation. Something about what I said must have irritated him because suddenly he goes "excuse me?" as if I had said something wrong. I had to repeat that I was at work and this is why my roommates are handling the consultation. I was taken aback by his tone.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He asked me who the decision maker was and I explained that I was. He then said we would prefer you to be present. My thoughts that were never verbalized to him was what part of I'm at work do you not understand? I became annoyed but I did not share that with him either. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He calls me again, and this is his third time. He informs me that he is at the front door. If I told you that I'm at work, why would you not ring the doorbell for my roommates?[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But now there is a problem that I'm unaware of at the moment. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Once I found out that a roommate had an emergency, I explained that one of my roommates had to run out and is a few minutes (15mins) from the house. I asked if he could wait and he immediately said no because he has an appointment 30mins from my home.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My thoughts again not verbalized (you can't give us the same patience you asked us to give you?). Wow! [[HIGHLIGHT]]By the time John calls me to reschedule, I am irritated. I disagree because you have field technicians that are not receptive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I explained that I was told my not being present was okay, the consultant spoke in a matter of fact manner as if the scheduler had done something wrong. This was not okay in my book.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Lastly, when someone tells you that they are at work, do not continue calling them. Also, my roommates contact information was listed. So why not directly connect with them since they will be the person's you meet with?[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 2) [[HIGHLIGHT]]Customer Service was not considered by the consultant. Communication is important and it must be done in a way that ensures the customer feels valued and heard. I only experienced value from schedulers I spoke with the day before. The problem did not begin until it came time to work with those in the field.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Selective listening is not a part of customer service. When you don't communicate effectively, then several things happen: A. You hear only your perspective and consider your position alone B. You block out external inferences from others C. You miss key context with information you're supposed to decode. Encoding and Decoding are the better half of communication and it requires active and NOT selective listening (DON'T Listen to respond. Analyze what's being said). The inspector went into my attic and said be saw mouse tunnels the diameter of golf balls and droppings. he said he was taking photographs and he would share them with me. When I asked for them later after he said fixing the problem would cost about $2,500, he said he didn't have any photographs. After he left, I got a ladder and in the attic and looked for myself. Everything was clean, there were no signs anywhere of mouse droppings nor tunnels. So I guess he wanted me to pay $2,500 to fix a problem I don't have. Booooooo. read more

Shoutout to Eric for making me feel confident about seeing a future of being mouse free. He took time to explain how things were going, how to make it better, and what was making things not happen faster. A thorough review and analysis of the situation was conducted. Since we patched holes and treated the attic with the killing chemicals, we have been having the mice just move into the lower levels. Cold weather made it worse. I thought these battles were hopeless. Eric assured me that living in a single family home with our four walls (and attic and roof) in good condition we could get the best possible outcome. He walked around the house and spotted an area that had a fairly large opening where wires and cables feed into the house. He added silicone to close it off. And he advised me to add gravel around our front sidewalk where the water was eroding the soil under the concrete. I did it right away! I could cry about having a more successful outcome ahead! I learned that a mouse will dig into house plants to get nutrients! And that dog food has B12 in it that neutralizes the poison bait!!! I know right?!? Who can teach this stuff like Eric? I think if this company can continue to have Eric train techs to be this skilled, they will have a lot of talent to brag about! Master of Death is a great title when Eric uses his powers for good!! BUYER BEWARE!!! Be advised the technicians are careless. Whole spraying my home for ants, dropped a cube of rat poison in my dining room which my dog got ahold of and ate part of it before I saw her. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Technician and manager deny it was their product, but sent me the PDF of it when I called to find out what it was.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Had to call poison control who advised how to proceed, which required an emergency visit and 2 follow up visits. Manager is claiming they weren't negligent and won't pay for all of the vet visits, but KINDLY said he'd waive the early contact charge. Rich sold us a monthly payment plan for pest control and talked a lot about himself instead of informing us that our termite plan had expired and we needed to renew along with pest plan. Senate left us without termite coverage and now we have termites which obviously cost more to treat once active then to prevent. Mike was suppose to schedule an inspector to come out and give us a cost for the termite treatment plan, however, When I called to confirm the time, the receptionist could not find our appointment or Mike. I am calling on Monday to speak with Nick, the general manager, to cancel our contract that they want to charge us for cancelling early. Unacceptable! As a small business owner, I don't charge my clients if I've made a mistake. That clearly shows they don't value their customer, it's all about contracts and steady money flow and not protecting their clients from pest, which is supposably their job. I wouldn't. They have sneaky 12-month contracts, so even when they can't solve rodent problems you are stuck paying them. Plus, their "startup" cost is higher than other companies ($400 instead of $150-200). I spent a lot of money on not getting rid of a rodent problem. read more

Be cautious about hiring these folks. I didn't hire them, but that was because they tried to up sell me at the start of the first call. I needed someone to come by and do a basic outdoor spray for some flies that were breeding somewhere. Nothing complicated. When they got the sense that I didn't need some year long package, they 'went to talk to a manager' and came back and quoted me $900 fee to come out and do that work. I had other quotes for anywhere from $200 to $350. I own a small business myself and it's insulting for someone to give a 'go f*** yourself' price. If you don't want to do the work, then simply say it's not the right job for your company and you decline to bid on it. But making up an offensively high price because you're sour that I didn't want to sign some year long package says a lot about the people that run the company. They may do fine work. I have no idea, but with business practices like this I'll make sure to never call them again. read more

I am very disappointed in this company and some of it is my fault for not coming on here and reading these reviews. I looked for pest control on Angi's list for our new location, they came up with higher reviews on there than here. If you use them, absolutely DO NOT set up auto payment for services. They will take the money without having done the service (not realizing you have cameras all around your place and can pull video from the time they said they were there) but will create a fake service receipt for showing up to your house, with date/time and inspectors/technician's signature. This happened to me twice! When I called the first time, they sent someone out to do a "make up" service at no fee.... like that was a big favor to me considering you already took my money. This last time they took the money and didn't come out again. I did send them a message to cancel my service contract and requested a refund so I would have it in writing and I was dismissed. I removed my payment information from my account and will tell everyone in the neighborhood to not use them. (We are in Point of Rocks) Might seem like a good price but they will try and pull one over if they can. Beware of this company. I have a mice problem in my attic. They inspected and advised that I needed all new insulation and complete sanitation. They also promised to seal the attics entry points to prevent the return of the mice. I had the work done in the spring 2024 and now in the fall 2024, the mice are back in my attic. Senate returned to "inspect" the attic, however the technician did not set foot in the attic! I have officially hit a wall and am out $4500!! read more
