**The review is for the University Center My third time to be in the university ground and first time to be in the Ruth S Harley University Center. I came in on night of March 16th and attended the university's Breast Cancer Awareness Support Program "Creative Cups" fund raising campaign. It was nice to hear of the university's support for such kind of program. A lot of people are benefitting for the proceeds that they were raising. I believe this was just one of the few of their projects for the year. Check their website for further details. I had a good time by the way with the event. Hopefully they had a good turn out. The university center is not hard to find. After making a right turn at the university's main compound entrance, the center is at the right hand side, steps away from the parking lot. The center is a three floor with an underground building comprises mostly of small meeting rooms and main conference hall on the second floor, not sure if the third floor has one too as they held the event on the second floor. Each floor has its own restrooms. The ground lobby has a welcoming vibes. There is a choice of using the stairs or an elevator going up or down. The kitchen is at the second floor as I remember them bringing in and out the refreshments for the evening. I have seen a sign of a bookstore located downstairs, never get the chance to check though. The focal point of the building are the different flags raised up in the center of the building. The entire staff that were involved with the event were nice, friendly and entertaining. Its a good place for any event, wonder if they rent the place for outsiders.

I currently have my youngest niece enrolled at Hofstra, who also had her HS graduation here, and my other niece had her college graduation held at Hofstra. I've been to the university several times, for graduation ceremonies, and to help cousins move into their dorms and moving out. The school is very easy to navigate. There's clear signs all throughout, and the parking lots of heavenly lit at night. There's always onsite security cruising around, which is a plus and gives that extra layer of protection that you, and your family who are attending are safe. The events, and student get togethers that I so often hear about are all planned by the student council, and they always seem well organized and though out, and fun might I add! You can always find something going on at the campus, planned and hosted by the students themselves. Emily, loves it here. She's forever ranting and raving about the events, meetings, after school events, bake sales, culture nights etc. All of which she helps to plan as she's the head of the student council. If you're a parent thinking to send your child here to further their education, no need to think twice. It's a great private school. The beautiful and historic Dutch estate has been ranked as a top schools in the US for many years in a row. You and your child will love and appreciate the history Hofstra has.

The machines were fine. There was plenty of parking. All around ok. Now I've just had my second knee replacement. The one thing I've been told over and over is to ice. They don't have an ice machine and apparently haven't had one for months. I was under the impression NYU wAs supposed to be putting a lot of money into Winthrop to make it a top hospital and along with that should go to physical therapy Center. Doesn't seem that way. Get a new ice machine. And get a back up. This isn't even coming off as second rate.

I went over procedure then spoke with the anesthesiologist went over my long list of pain medications. I was then taken to the OR I was preped and put under. I awoke to the feeling of my back being cut opened, I began screaming that I was feeling pain, I received no response from the surgeons I realized that they couldn't hear my screams and also I was paralyzed. I felt and heard everything that was going on in the OR from the music to the. Cutting to the conversation s of the OR staff. I woke up in the recovery room crying in pain I was taken to my room when the doctor came to see me I told him about what happened He told me I probably dreamed it that people don't wake furring surgery, I then started telling him everything that was said in the OR including a few problems I bled more than usual I needed extra blood, while removing hardware they had a problem removing a screw so decieded it was better to leave it in,there was personal information discussed between the surgeons, a few jokes where told, they discussed how bad my back was and how many surgeries I had and that I would need more The doctor was astonished of what I said,Also I had two chipped front Teeth as well as a cracked tooth that I didn't have prior. The first night I had a nightmare of the surgery ( and been having them as well as flashbacks since) A nurse came in furring a flashback when I didn't respond to her she called a code I awoke to a room full of doctors, I explained what happened and was sent for a cat scan of my head, I had a panicked attack furring the scan, The care I received was deplorable as if they were afraid to talk to me, After discharge I went for my post surgical visit. My surgeon was shocked that I was still having episodes said he would have the anesthesiologist call me ( I was in need for more surgery and was terrified to be put under again )and was concerned that the hospital hasn't been in touch with me. He suggested I call patient services that I should be getting thereapy. I called patient services after my third call I received a call back,I explained what had happened the woman I spoke to seemed concerned was gonna call the anesthesiologist and a therapist and get back to me the next day .Isaying I needed to be in thereapy.a week goes by and no return call after 4 more calls still no return call. After 30 days I got to surgeon for another post surgical visit he was very concerned that I didn't get a call from the anesthesiologist, that he spoke to him regarding the incident and asked him to call me, a month later with no call from hospital I was given the woman in charge of patient services went over the whole story again she acted very concerned told me she was gonna check with everyone and get back to me within 24 hours . Never heard from her again. I then received a call from my surgeons office to follow-up I told them about not receiving any call backs. After that I finally received a call from the anesthesiologist after 60 + days. He told me that I couldn't have woken up it doesn't happen that I dreamed or imagined it all that he checked my mouth when he was done and all my teeth were intact Really so why do I have two chipped and one cracked tooth right after surgery. He basically dismissed me Now 30 days later I visit the surgeon 90 days after surgery still having nightmares and flashbacks,He said he had a heated discussion with him told him I needed to get a phone call. I told him I did and he basically dismissed me. Then my Surgeon said that he was told I was having nightmares since Vietnam by the anesthesiologist. I was really taken back I was a disabled veteran yes but I never went to Vietnam!! And never had flashbacks or nightmares, I never received a call from Winthrop hospital regarding my situation or health, I am now getting treatment by the VA. If I ever need another surgery I will make sure that any anesthesiologist group that works on me from Winthrop. I did speak to attorneys but unfortunately no one would consider the case because I didn't want to include my surgeon and Neuro surgeon and plastic surgeon s in the law suit because I will be using them again unfortunately But Winthrop and there Anesthesiologist group I would of shed in a second. It amazed me all I wanted was maybe an apology from them .. hearing were so sorry this happened it shouldn't have woul of gone a long way..... So Winthrop Hospital I give you one star because you can't get negative stars.. for any details e mail me for anesthesiologist name and further details Volo1054@aol.com

This place is terrifically terrible. Everyone who works here during the night shift are hicks. Serious rent-a-cops with ignorance on their minds. They had the balls to ask me if I was Chinese or Japanese. Then they laughingly asked us what we were doing here after we clearly told them we were here to see friends. Mind you they didn't stop us or anything, we came in because we were a bit lost around campus. Real helpful guys. I'm sure that while the 8 of your are lounging around, someone was urinating in the bushes around the corner. Then I gladly used their makeshift bathroom and tore paint off the walls after that horrendous "taco bell didn't have a bathroom" experience 20 minutes earlier. Take that rent-a-cops.
