Class of '96. I still go to the Football games with my daughter. I love the place. What they have done to it since i graduated is absolutely amazing. The Pratt center is incredible. I wish i had a pool when i was a student. Tilles Center is still one of the premier concert and performing arts venues on Long Island and has seen big name acts perform there. The students historically tend to be upper middle class and they have a history of being quite stuffy, but all in all, i had no issues making friends here and enjoying my time. enough as it is, to continue to show up during Football season and walk around. A very corrupt school , students don't actually have to do any work , they pass them so the school has a good standing . No accountability. Faculty is just doing the minimum to save their paycheck. I would not recommend this school if you want a solid education. read more

As a forner commuting student at CW POST, both undergraduate and graduate school, I feel I entered the professional world with many tools that allowed my career path(s) to develop and progress throughout the years. But setting aside for a moment what a Long Island University degree means in the working world, the simple experiences I had enjoyed as a student will stay with me forever. The majority of the teachers and department heads that really took a genuine interest in each student that was willing to show up for classes, take the exams and submit the necessary assigned assignments. The Newman Group where we prepared food for the poor and I drove the LIU van into Manhattan to distribute them and many other such acts of charitable giving. Having been to many NY campuses at other Universities, CW POST really is one of the top in terms of nature, architecture and working with the land. The 330 acres that were given to LIU by the POST family, yes the cereal people which now is a part of Kraft have some of the most impressive buildings in the uber wealthy community of Old Brookille. Marjorie POST was married to E.F. Hutton, remember him? "When E.F. Hutton speaks, people listen" it was a catch phrase for the E.F. Hutton Investment banking service which to my knowledge exists. Lorber Hall where many of the accounting classes occur have a nonfunctional fireplace in each classroom. With so many more examples I will not list it is worth a trip to walk the arboretum which has such a variety ot trees, or the nature maze and the semi newly erected Pratt Center. I think the campus is absolutely beautiful I am going to be attending graduate school here this coming fall and so far the admissions counselors and all of the staff I've reached out to for any sort of help has been very welcoming and very helpful. The school's website seems very well put together and so does the campus when I visited last I also really liked how straightforward the admissions process was and how helpful the staff has been so far! I'm super excited to start graduate school here and be a part of the community at Post ! read more

I attended there from 2002-2006 for my undergrad and 2006-2008 for my masters. 1st Opinion - Financial Aid Department - Not at all helpful in obtaining any grants or in assisting in applying for type of scholarship. As a student you will have to do it yourself, they won't give you any guidance whatsoever. An example, as a first year student there I was of course 18 years old and had no idea how to apply for these things. The only thing I had was getting from financial aid was TAP and work study while I was dorming. No assistance whatsoever in obtaining books as they were extremely expensive and had to go second hand(online) or ask a student to borrow a textbook for a day to make photocopies. Paying a tuition with room and board came out as about $30,000 a year of federal loans and private loans split with financial aid. My financial aid total was about $3,000 a year. Anytime you make an appointment with a financial aid counselor it seems like they are overbooked or on vacation. They never call you back when you leave a message. 2nd Opinion - Dorming - Open house was a bait and switch where they showed everyone that there is a kitchen with stove and microwaves, refrigerators allowed in rooms, thermostat control, etc. This was only the newest dorm (Brookville Dorm) and by the end of my first year they had remove most amenities because of a fire safety issue which till 2008 they never resolved. From Thursday-Sunday the campus is pretty much a ghost town and lack of activities. I have been to other colleges like Union upstate in Schenectady which they had fireworks in homecoming, brand new kitchen and appliances, and activities that have no restrictions on time. The activities are lacking and since most of the student bodies are commuters it doesn't draw them to stay on campus to participate. As posted by other fellow alumnus, when its snow storms there your pretty much stuck if you don't have a vehicle. Its an absolute must to have a car on campus as there is limited shuttle service and everything is too far to walk and unsafe to get to at night unless your driving. Public Safety has not given any problems to students in my opinion. Nicest Public Safety I met compare to other schools. The gym area is nice but felt small. 3rd Opinion - Education - The only thing I do find redeeming in this university. I had very excellent teachers on this campus. Even the adjuncts were probably the smartest people I have ever met and are severely underpaid for taking on classes where its 30-1 ratio. The teachers were very understanding with issues such as buying textbooks and being late with an assignment. I do have to say though that most of the classes are fairly easy compare to upper rank schools. read more

I am beginning to get extremely frustrated by reviews about this school that focuses on non-essentials, for example, "the campus is sooo pretty." Well, sure, it's a decent-looking campus, but academic wise; this school is a nightmare!!! People need to know the truth about what goes on at this school. First off, no, I am not one of those lazy "I don't want to put any effort in"-students. I am an honor's student with stellar GPA and a rather impressive resume in general. I really care about my life and my future, and I always strive for perfection. 1. Students are allowed to use their phones during exams in the majority of the undergraduate classes here. Professors will always pretend that they do not see or are aware of what is going on, but trust me, they know. At least 80% of my fellow students cheated on every exam in one of my accounting classes, same can be said about a macroeconomics class that I took. It is appalling; this school has ZERO academic integrity. It's embarrassing. 2. This school is moving towards going completely broke. Google it! Roughly rounding it off, Hofstra University's endowment are 4x the size of LIU Post. You can discuss this matter with many of the professors at campus, they all testify of shrinking departments and resources. 3. Professors focus on giving as high grades as possible! It's all about statistics and keeping your job. They will more or less give extra credit away, or lower the standards to the extreme just to ensure as high of a grade average among their students as possible. 4. The administrative side is horrendous too, most likely due to the lack of financial resources. They will lose important paperwork, and fail to update your financial standing more often than not. 5. They are desperate to lure in new students!! Do NOT fall for their tricks. LIU Post's number of applicants has steadily been decreasing; fewer and fewer students wants to attend this school. Again, look it up! 6. I just yet again want to emphasize the lack of academic standards at this school. All exams are multiple choice, and grading is LENIENT, to say the least. This is not college-level coursework, despite the ridiculous price tag for attending. Overall, deciding to come to this school is the biggest mistake of my life. Know that I am saying that regardless of graduating with a near perfect GPA. It's just not fun to attend a school with such LOW standards and where the students are not able to satisfactorily complete college-level assignments. This place will make you feel so failed in life.
