I was referred by my original lasik Doc who no longer practices, so I was less caring of environment and personalities hoping that I would just receive the highest quality operation. I read some other reviews on here and I had a similar experience in the waiting room, workers openly taking about a poor work environment, that was the first red flag. I also had my eyes dilated unexpectedly which another lasik clinic I went to, did not do this. Not a huge deal but how about a warning prior to the appointment or letting people know how much it's going to affect their day for the next 4 or 5 hours. Anyway, after I hear about the details of my procedure and AGREE ON A PRICE....which by the way was packaged to me as a "friends and family deal" for $3600....I arrive to my appointment on the day of the operation only to be taken through one final machine/test! They need to see whether or not I'm a candidate to pay $600 more for a slightly better outcome! Why doesn't this machine exist at the consultation office along with the 4 or 5 other machines/test I had gone through already? The answer is obvious, it's a chance to get people to pay $600 more if they want the best possible outcome. Price goes up to $4200. I won't and didn't go along with changing the details and cost of my procedure MINUTES before my procedure is scheduled to be done, that's absurd and I would be surprised if more people don't just walk out like I did. On top of that, I don't know what brother I had that experience with, but his demeanor was very poor in handling my reaction to him changing things the day of operation. Also, turns out $3600 is the standard price, friends and family was just part of the sales pitch and then once I'm there the price goes up! I wasted one afternoon for the consultation and one full work day for the procedure. Save yourself money and time, find an honest clinic. Also, this is the second review I've ever wrote in my life and I'm in my 40's, so it takes a lot for me to get to this point. read more

I visited Adelson Eye Clinic based on positive Google reviews but had an incredibly frustrating experience. Initially seen by Dr. Todd in mid-June for two chalazions on my upper eyelids, I informed the staff of my impending school departure on August 1st and requested accommodation before then. Dr. Todd initially suggested surgery in the OR, but upon checkout, the front-desk staff informed me last minute that he changed plans to perform it in the clinic, scheduling me for July 23rd. On July 23rd, I signed all the consent surgery forms. Dr. Howard was scheduled to perform the procedure, rather than Dr. Todd. I went into the room and Dr. Howard said there must be a scheduling error, even noting to the scribe, "why would they put you (I) with me, if they know I don't do chalazion removals in office?" The front-desk staff made a logistical error. I went to the front-desk person, Xavier, and he informed me that "we will get this done" in reference to the surgery. I was told there was an availability next Monday and next Wednesday. I took the Wednesday option at the Northville location. I received a call later that day stating that the surgery cannot be performed because there is a one-week follow-up appointment. I was not told this the first time (original date of surgery) and now this new information was presented. I immediately asked to speak with Dr. Howard to see if there's an alternative available. I was told there would be a note at his desk and I would receive a phone call sometime tomorrow. That did not happen. I called back this morning and was transferred to the office manager. Jess claimed no doctors were available to speak with me and provided no resolution, insisting I wait until next week. I asked why I should bear the burden of the office staff making a scheduling error, to which she replied "that's all the information I can provide." Overall, there was a complete lack of professional communication and accountability from the clinic for their scheduling errors, which inconvenienced me twice with time off work. I regretfully cannot recommend Adelson Eye Clinic based on this experience. read more

I went here 1 year ago and did all of my follow up appointments. I called today to schedule my 1 year check up and they told me I didn't show up for an appointment at 1 month which every time I went in there I scheduled an appointment like they said until they told me the would see me in 1 year. Now I called for my 1 year check up and they say my lifetime warranty is expired. No one called me when I missed this supposed appointment. I am furious and would recommend finding a more honest place to do business. I will warn everyone I know not to go through this office. read more

I have been seeing Dr Howard and Dr Todd ever since they took over the practice from Dr. Solomon. These are the only Drs. I trust my vision to. They are very professional and caring. They are busy and you may wait a bit, but that is because they care and give each patient the attention and time they deserve. If you need an opthamologist these gentlemen are the ones to see. Just completed cataract surgery with Adelson Eye and Laser Center. I am very pleased with the experience and the results. Dr Howard Adelson and his staff explained the procedure in detail and answered all my questions ( and fears). Promised a smooth and comfortable procedure. Provided good written pre and post op guidelines to educate the patient. Also have a good web site fully detailing the procedures/methods they use. During surgery Dr Howard and his surgery team created a relaxed atmosphere and a very comfortable surgery experience. Overall the experience was less stressful than getting my teeth cleaned. Have nothing but praise for Dr. H's technical and surgical skills. I whole heartily recommend Adelson Eye and Laser Center to anyone contemplating cataract surgery. . Arthur Deane Northville Ps. My wife had Lasik there. Her vision was worse.After after several months of rechecks they told her that if they did it again it may actually make it worse than after the first one!! $3000 wasted. I had laser eye surgery almost a year ago, and I'm very happy with the results. The consultation, procedure, and recovery were all stellar. The consultation was informative, the procedure was just as explained (short and painless), and the recovery was without complication. The only concern I have pertains to the follow-up appointments. I had three follow-up appointments with doctors unknown to me. I was haggled two out of the three times about writing a positive review on Yelp and Google while sitting in the examination chair. The doctor requested I write the review in his presence before leaving the examination room. I refused, and he seemed to get an attitude. This makes me question the integrity of the glowing reviews left on here. read more

Just had Lasik done last week and I can't believe how quick and easy the whole process was overall. The time it took from making a free consultation to having perfect vision was about 2 weeks. The doctors and staff are very friendly and make the whole process a lot less nerve racking than I expected. I would certainly recommend Lasik to anyone who is able to have the procedure because after wearing contacts for over 20 years I'm happy to wake up to 20/20 vision everyday! read more

I had the worst experience yesterday at Adelson Eye & Laser Center yesterday. I had an appointment at 2PM for an infection in my eye. My normal eye doctor was not in so they referred me to the clinic. After waiting for almost 1 hour I was brought in and they immediately started doing vision checks as if I was getting new contacts (even in the eye that was infected). I explained that I could not see well but she went along and kept checking and shining bright lights into my infected eye that was already sensitive to light. Then she put drops in my eyes to dilate my eyes and put me in the waiting room 15-20 minutes. After waiting another 1/2 hour I explained I had to pick up my child from school and they simply cancelled my appointment and sent me on my way with my eyes dilated. By then it was rush hour traffic and I could barely drive. In the end they could have cared less about my eye infection they did nothing to help me after 1 1/2 hours I did not even see the doctor and they sent me on my way with dilated eyes. What a horrible experience I had and I would not recommend that place to anyone especially if you have an eye infection ! read more

I had Lasik done a month ago and couldn't be more happy with the results! I had trouble getting into another Lasik place due to my travel schedule. At Adelson Lasik center I got a consultation the next day and a surgery date exactly when I wanted (about 2 weeks later). My lasik surgery went great it's only been one week since Dr. Howard Adelson performed lasik in both my eyes (which was 20/400). Only one week later and I can read most of the letters on the 20/10 line, with each eye. I see detail more than I could ever see with contacts. I would recommend any one for lasik. Came in for a lasik consultation after hearing an ad on the radio which stated it would be a special price of $250 per eye. Went through the entire eye exam including watching a video, getting my eyes dilated,etc to find out at the end that the lasik treatment would actually cost over $3,000. The office staff is very nice and if you have any eye emergencies they are always able to get you an appointment if you need one. 20/20 mono vision, one eye for reading, one eye for distance, night glare is reduced from what it was with my astigmatism. I only get competition between the near and far sighted eyes after about 10 or 12 hours of working on the computer. I had to buy sunglasses. All I had was clip-ons. Even with the best of prescription lenses, I have never seen this clearly. read more

Dr. Todd Adelson performed LASIK eye surgery on me about 2 years ago. I had been coming in to see him for years because I was struggling with irritation from my contact lenses. Finally, I decided to bite the bullet and get the LASIK surgery that he had been suggesting. I couldn't be any happier with the entire experience! I see perfectly and never have to deal with contacts or glasses again! I was driving and seeing perfectly the next day! Dr. Todd made me feel very comfortable through the quick surgery and was walking me through it, telling me what was going on every step of the way. I also loved the office (very spa-like) and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Dr Adelson to take great care of your eyes. read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE! I had the worst experience at this office a few weeks ago. First they made me wait for over an hour to be examined in a room by an assistant who looked sloppy, had an attitude, and when they left the ex room I was in - started gossiping to her other co-workers outside my door. She was calling another employee a bitch. What horrible professionalism. After I was waiting in the room for my eyes to dilate, I heard more things out on the hallway. Even though I wasn't there to sign up for lasik surgery, just a check on my cataracts, I heard more employees talking very loudly about how staff gets monetary bonuses if they sign up so many people to have lasik surgery with them. When did the value of a patient come down to assistants power to make company bonuses off of them? I just read a review calling these guys spoiled brother doctors. This rings very true there. Shame on you Adelson brothers for promoting such a workplace and hiring assistants with such lack of class. I guess we know how little our sight means to you. Future patients beware, their ophthalmologist who supposedly does cosmetic procedures is not board certified to perform cosmetic procedures. read more

I have been calling on a bill since August 2019 billing department told me every time I called to disregard the bill. Well they sent it to collection I tried to call and get it taken care of WHAT A HASSLE billing has no idea what they are doing. I had to go to the office to talk to Todd the owner. He asked me why I didn't just pay it BECAUSE I didn't owe it. That was 1/20/2020 So Todd called this morning NOT to apologize but to try to make me feel bad and as if I should not have brought it to him. He said it hasn't went on my credit yet. As soon as you sent to the collection agency it will now show up as you had to send me to collection as if I was neglected the bill. I CALLED EVERY TIME I GOT A BILL. It is a problem for me I know you think it was no big deal BUT I have worked hard to build my credit and for you to act like I did something wrong and talk down to me the way you did and your billing department is unacceptable. So TODD I will take my business elsewhere like you told me to. You should have been rude to your Billing Department not me. read more

Dr. Todd Adelson and staff were great when I had my eye infection a month ago. I was miserable for a few days with my eyes feeling like I needed to scratch them out of the sockets! I went in for exam and they said I don't have any copays with the insurance.. The doctor recommends me to get plugs put in my eyes for dryness and when i cancel my second appointment for plugs put in, a month later I receive a bill for copay saying my insurance ask them to collect the amount now and back then when I went for the visit it was showing $0. He wanted to start with temporary plugs and then wanted to do surgery for permanent plugs for simple eye dryness that I had. SO IF YOU ARE NOT THEIR REGULAR CUSTOMER THEY WILL BILL YOU EVERYTHING! read more

This place is a scam. I came across this place on my employer's website, where it was stated they offer 20% discount on lenses and frames to my company's employees. I called Adelson to ask if that offer was still valid and was told by front staff that it was. Thus I went ahead and booked an appt specifying for a vision exam. I went there only needing a new prescription for glasses. Without any notice or warning, the tech dilated my pupils. I went alone and didn't have sunglasses since who knew I was having my pupils dilated. I sat in my car for over an hour since I couldn't drive. I was charged $30 copay prior to leaving, the front staff told me the rest would be covered by insurance. When I asked where the frames section were, she told me they no longer sale frames and lenses! What??! And I called the week before! A few weeks later, I received a bill from Adelson for a balance of $150. I called the manager, who had a nasty attitude and refused to rectify the problem saying the charge was legit since it was a medical eye exam. I never wanted or needed a medical eye exam. No one even told me I was getting a medical eye exam or having my pupils dilated. I simply needed new prescription for glasses which I would have gotten a free exam at America's Best. Paying $180 for a vision exam is bogus. Overall, don't come to this place unless you want to be scammed. The BBB will certainly hear about this place and their shady business practices. read more

do anything you can not to come here. they overbook every single day, causing wait times to be (on average) between 1-2 hours. it's more like a LASIK factory, scheduling as many people as possible. next to no time with the doctor... it's clear they are looking to provide minimal service to maximize profits. really disappointing.
