So, I was trying to decide between ordering my photography gear from Downtown Camera or Aden Camera. Let's just say I won't be giving Aden a single dollar. Didn't even walk into the store, and already got major bad vibes. Called to ask about a backordered item, and the guy on the phone was super rude--like, aggressively unhelpful, with this weird arrogant tone. Who talks to customers like that? I just wanted info, not a side of attitude with my question. As someone who loves photography, I'd way rather support places where the staff actually wants to help you, you know? Steer clear of these guys. Seriously, Aden's management needs to rethink their hiring--this kind of vibe is why people bounce. I went in to get prints made, from my USB. The guy at the desk could have not been less interested. He directed me to the DIY machine and left me there, as I looked for the USB portal. Couldn't find it. He leans over the counter and points it out for me, and I get to work on a system that is less intuitive than you might think. He had to help me again, poor thing. I finally got it all figured out. Then I thought I'd shop for a frame, and . . . nope. A camera shop that doesn't sell frames. Odd. But then agian, par for the course. If you want excellent service, go to Annex Photo. I've been there a few times and it's always great. They don't have a minimum price to print, as Aden does. I went to Aden only because I was in a hurry and they were close by. Never again. read more

They won't price match other local stores because according to the salesperson -who called the manager and was on the phone for a while- they "want to make money". Nice loooonnnnggggg day in Toronto saw us here at one point. But it was one of the easier parts of the day, so there's that. Right on Youngs near the Eaton Center is this camera place. They have a serious collection of cameras. And with the current price of the Canafian dollar to the US one I imagine they are selling some of those cameras. But that's not why we were here. We needed a passport picture. Even though we had followed their directions to a t, they ones we had were not "good enough" and we were sent here. The woman (one of 4 employees visible) saw us coming a mile away. She knew we had been sent by one of the area consulates for a passport photo. She even guessed it was for a Dutch one. She's done this before. She knows the specs for the Dutch passport and took a pic quickly and easily. We then paid (15 CAD + tax) and were sent away for 20 min. Just enough time for a coffee. And the pics were ready when we went back. And the consulate liked them too. So we finally were able to apply for a new passport. read more

If I can give zero star I would. This store deserves no star. The staff was extremely rude and racist. He put his anger on us just because he couldn't hear us clearly. He yelled at us for no reason and did not apologize after. When we asked him to explain his behaviour, he just found another excuse to cover it up. The manager did not do anything when this happened. These people are extremely rude, do not care about customer service and behave like you should thank them for the privilege of entering their store on Yonge Street. I purchased a pair of binoculars on the 24th August , special order, no returns, no exchanges....nothing, and did not hear any updates on delivery at all, although promised. I called on the 29th to remind them, and also to inform them that Nikon Canada has the item in stock. I called Nikon again who said that the item, is indeed in stock. Perhaps Aden wait until they have a 'few' orders and then process it. I believe that Aden are not an authorized Nikon store. No update. I called this morning and got an earful about how wrong and aggressive and rude I am!!!!! Apparently the gentleman is called John, as per a colleague of his told me. Sadly, I received a voucher of this store, so had no choice but to buy from them......sad that customer relations has come to this at Aden Cameras! read more

I have found DIRT on my scanned negatives. If they even bothered to look they would see it, but I guess nobody bothered. They didn't even do simple white balance when scanning, I guess it's on me and Photoshop, which kind of kills idea of trying to be a master of analog photography. Now I wonder how did they expose the film (I am testing several films and several analog cameras). When I called back to complain, I was told to bring back the materials and leave it to PROFESSIONALS?!? One thing I don't get... does this person who did scanning like his job at all? It sounds like a dream job to me, I wold take it in a heartbeat. Is he not passionate about it, and doesn't he want to excel in it? Ok, machines might be dirty, not his fault, but at least do your best at what you do... read more

This store consistently beats everyone else --by a significant margin-- on prices for cameras and lenses (not so much with accessories!) They are cheaper than Henry's, Vistek, Amazon and all other places I've checked and it's all brand new, factory authorized stuff with full warranty. The trick is to show up in person, because their online prices don't reflect the discount. The staff knows their gear and has always been friendly in my experience, ever since I bought my first point and shoot there back in 1997 to my most recent camera purchase last month. Given the store's location in a touristy and sometimes sketchy area of Toronto, I can cut the staff some slack for not being overly warm or patient at busy times, so you may want to do a bit of your own research and arrive with some specific questions or an idea of what you want. Even if you're not buying that day, they'll still treat you well. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. read more

I wish I can give this place a 0 star as it does not even deserve 1 star at all. Before I began the review, I would like to clarify that I'm not an expert on photography, I'm still learning! The staff here is rude and I believe have ZERO knowledge on photography. I provided the staff with my budget and certain features that I was looking for in a Vlog Camera. I also gave him the model name that I'm currently looking at. Apparently it wasn't a good option. Ok, so I asked for recommendations, and this is what really pissed me off... He told me to purchase a $1K Sony Camera (RX100 III) because "the more expensive the camera, the better the pictures/video you can take." That's a red flag right there. Cameras don't take pictures, photographers do. You can take a stunning image regardless of the tools you use. It's been a long time since I purchased anything from Aden Camera however I wanted a specific camera badly so sometimes you have to suck it up. It's been almost 17 years since I made my last purchase at Aden but the service was so bad at that time I never returned. However they had a good deal on the camera with some bonus items and the same for the lens I wanted. So why only 3 stars? Well the bonus items had price stickers on them that made it look like they were giving a real great bonus but the prices for the filters and the memory card were way over inflated. Let's face it if your buying camera equipment in Toronto the two big players have it tied up and Aden is somewhere near 3rd place along with Downtown Camera. I must admit I was concerned reading some of the poor reviews about Aden but the service was friendly and efficient. Depending on my needs I might consider going back to them. read more

I've been shopping in camera shops in many years in many places. This is the only shop where in my experience there was no interest shown in forming a relationship with a new customer; helping the customer feel welcome; being reasonable regarding a made-up policy; or being gracious rather than rude and arrogant. It was so apparent in my interaction with the manager that further discussion on anything would be a waste of energy, so I didn't point out another problem: they had sold me stale dated film without advertising that as such or discounting. I'll never go back, no matter who convenient the Sunday hours were in a pinch. If you are serious about a photography supply or service , I would suggest either going to one of the other major stores, especially Downtown Camera, or buying online. The attitude at Aden Camera seems to me to be the customer is an unwanted undesirable who is a nuisance and a bother. read more

I went into the store and greeted by a junior employee of the store, which was fine because he tried his best to answer my questions. However, when he wanted to show me a camera, but he had to ask for permission from one of the senior employees first. Then, the gentleman just answered "NO" with a very bad attitude. After all of that, I asked the junior salesman, "how much does that camera cost?", and then he told me the price (which is over 4000). Then, I said "okay, thank you so much." and I left the store. In conclusion, do not expect them to show you anything that is expensive, and KNOW WHAT YOU WANT BEFORE YOU COME, instead of look for what you need in the store. Oh, by the way. First, I was really curious with this store, and hoping they have the product I want. Eventually, I went there at Sept 11 2018, around 7.30pm, I greeted by a man, with curly hair tied by hairbend, glasses, with earrings. I felt excited and started asking whether if they have Røde videomicro on sale. He said yes. This is the beginning of everything. FIRST, I started kindly asking with a happy tone, "may I see the product ? And comparing with what you have on sale ?" He immediately said,"if you want to compare, just use your internet.". ......okay....... I asked again, "oh okay, just another question, how much for the røde videomicro?" He replied "it's CA$79.99" I told and asked, "do you do match-pricing ? I saw at amazon, they sell the same product for CA$75.00." He replied rudely and arrogantly, "oh, that's amazon ! If you want to save just for 4 bucks, go ahead ! We have service, advice, and quality !" I just couldn't stand anymore and said "okay thanks." Leaving the store immediately. Their staff is so rude. I called to ask about a camera I had ordered online since the beginning of August 2020. They told me they would ship it out at the end of September, then told me the end of October, and then told me the end of november. I called yesterday to ask about the status of my order. The staff over the phone told me I should be "grateful" that their store is even selling the packaged camera, and that if I am not happy I should cancel the order and piss off. I should have read the reviews before dealing with them. I just received a "brand new" camera from them (shipped) that was anything but new. Probably a return or a demo unit. There were 270 exposure on the Nikon Df when I got it. I was told it was a brand new unit in the box that was held for someone who didn't complete the purchase. Basically a flat out lie as the thing was used. They'll never see my business again. I would have rather spent a few hundred more (the camera was $3,500) and bought it from B&H or elsewhere. read more

There's a difference between blunt and rude. I'll never shop here due to a rude and arrogant salesman (ponytail) and when I called to complain the Manager backed him up by saying "some customers appreciate his bluntness" and I said he's condescending and rude. The sales guy belittled me, expected me to buy at lenses without testing them and turned verbally rude in remarks and tone when I didn't buy anything, as they didn't have open display models to test. Lenses cost $600 and upwards to just over $1,000. He took it out on me, as he angrily went on for eons complaining that a woman in there before me got him to open a box and accused it of being an open box so she refused to buy it. I don't understand how it's my problem when I asked to see open display models! He even said I own the wrong camera so my reply was "I'm not getting rid of my Sony A6000 camera" and I walked out with the row of 2-3 sales men standing behind the counter watching as I walked out (there were no other customers in there the entire time so I'm sure my situation was entertaining for them). read more

Beware of expired film rolls. I bought a roll of Cinestill film and after a full shoot, I realized it was expired. The photos turned out terrible and it was a huge disappointment since it took a lot of work to prepare and shoot all of this. I will stick to Downtown Camera which is just a couple blocks away. read more

I love reading camera store reviews...there is the "I had a problem with X and then walked over to Henry's and they gave me a way better deal" reviews (written by Henry's employees...feel free to email Downtown, Aden, Vistek and Henry's and ask for a deal on anything and see how far you get with Henry's lol)...you get the "this accessory was way cheaper elsewhere!" from people who do no research. Here's the scoop. If you want to buy a lens or camera, Aden is the place. You'll do better on price and, frankly, since all their stuff is made by somebody else (d'uh) price is the only thing that matters. Would I buy an SD card or microfiber cloth at Aden? No, because accessories are where their profit margin comes from. So if you want to buy a 5DSR then do it at Aden, you want a Sandisk 64gb SD card, buy it on Amazon. As with ALL camera stores, if you are relying on their expertise, you're going to get hit and miss staff...but with the weath of web options for research, I am not sure why you'd walk into a store not knowing what you wanted anyway. read more

Bought some lenses here ... a 70-200 Nikkor and a 50mm Nikkor... not cheap, not expensive.. but worth it.. helpful staff... scared me a bit when he flourished when removing the lens from my camera. About 15 years ago I found out while shopping for an EOS 3 film camera, that Eddie who runs the store now, is the son of the owner, who had sold my father and I our SLR first film camera many years prior. I received very good price and service, have been a loyal customer ever since. I also recommended our graphics folks at work to check out Aden when we needed to purchase a bunch of digital video and stills equipment suite for a work project, they shopped around to find Aden had the best price, and matching service too. I cannot say enough good things about Aden and its staff, they turnover their stock volume too to get better discounts from their suppliers, which keeps the price down, Eddie told me how shocked his new Canon Canada rep was with how high the annual order from Aden was. I'm sure it's the same story with other camera brands. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed!! read more

This place has the advantage of being known locally as THE camera shop of Toronto, which is probably why they feel entitled to be rude to customers. I went in because my camera had an error, explained my issue and the clerk replied with a shrug of the shoulders "google it". Maybe they don't do repairs, but you should politely say so, not be sarcastic and try to make me feel like a moron. read more

The staff is friendly enough, and very helpful when it comes to product purchases, but their in-house lab services are not that good when compared to other places in the city. The prices and turn around time are great but the convenience comes at a serious cost. I'll forgive a blunder with film dev every so often but the development services here have been consistently awful. I have found stains, kinks, rips, and scratches on my negatives the last few times when I have dropped off, on every single roll. The employees and manager at Aden admitted that the issue with my negatives was their fault and that they would make sure their machines were serviced and thoroughly inspected but I received no apologies or even a credit for the terrible service. The acknowledgement means nothing to a customer if you refuse to remedy the issue. The dev price is decent and the turnaround time was really the only thing Aden had going for it against other labs in the city, but their customer service leaves much to be desired. I would never bring important negatives to Aden for developing and I recommend you don't either. read more

I was not an expert on the camera so I reached out for help. It was only at this moment that one guy helped me by telling me the correct way to use it but he still left it on my own. I felt like they treated their customers according to the price you paid. I just felt awkward for those stares. You got paid for helping customers hand by hand.
