The short…read moreof it is that if you want to be audited, ignored, overcharged, wait forever, have improper returns, and deal with someone who exhibits professional negligence, Barry is your guy. First, the mundane stuff, that shows a lack of professionalism: Forgot about my returns. Multiple times. Didn't return multiple phone calls and emails. Charged me an astronomical fee. We negotiated slightly lower than the original fee, and then when it came time to pay, he tried to charge me more. It took two months to complete relatively easy returns. Every time I called I was treated as a nuance. One of the final times I called I was asked to give him a couple days, after a week with no contact I gave him a call. This seemed to anger him. Then, the issues that show a lack of knowledge, and general incompetency: Missed my education deduction despite me telling him twice. Didn't deduct my home office despite knowing that I work from home. Improperly reported that I had MassHealth insurance full year, which I wouldn't even qualify for, and when I only lived in the state half the year Initially informed me that I owed thousands of dollars over a Roth disbursement of contributions because he didn't know this was tax free, which I told him it was before we even started, and then had to direct him to the IRS publications. Got me audited in record breaking time. It only took a couple days from submission.

She leaves clear messages and tells you exactly what you need to they state clearly that if you drop your papers off too late than you will have to file an extension and take any consequences. They were very minor, but not comforting knowing the person we rely on for this is making mistakes. When we asked him about what happened, he brushed it off as no big deal...okay fine, we moved past it. This year, he provided us with withholding consultation, which we paid extra for, that was WAY off. We noticed the inconsistencies in early April and brought them to his attention, to which he requested we follow up after tax season (understandable). We then met with him when schedules allowed, and it was clear he was completely lost on how our income works, and let me tell you, it's not that complex at all! He then had the nerve to ask us to pay for these services again! When I questioned him on this and reminded him that we had already paid for these services and that he missed the mark, he completely ghosted us. We left countless voicemails, sent a bunch of emails, and he would not respond. This went on over the course of 5 weeks, it was clear he was avoiding me. He never took the time to ask simple questions about our income and, even worse, made assumptions about how we earn our yealy incomes. He completely relied on this tax accounting software to do the work for him, and unfortunately for us, that still requires some level of competence... I'm writing this review to save others from the pain of having to go through this, do yourself a favor, and look elsewhere.
