My first in person experience with Adler Weiner Research via Q-Insights. I've done some market research/focus group studies in the past, including with them (almost always remote since 2020), but this one required the IRL touch. Getting inside was a journey as I was coming from the Wilshire side form Wilshire/Westwood, but there was no one to visible let you in from the street side entrance at the corner of Wilshire Blvd/Midvale Ave. I walked around to the parking side with some great landscaping and tons of tables and chairs outfront (great place to have your lunch, a bite or just relax). I came up to the door with my confirmation email... As the door only had key card access (very secure). The security guy on duty (sharply dressed and very friendly) asked me what I was here for and I let him know. He told me which floor and that he would open an elevator for me to send me up. I got in on #8 with floor 12 already lit for me to go to the top. I followed the signs for AWR and was greeted by two people at their main reception desk to the right of the entrance. They explained how things worked and had me fill out and sign a form. I sat in the immaculate waiting area with British Bake-Off playing in the background and complimentary water as well as coffee close by. I was called up within a minute, no more than two and the gentleman walked me back with thoughtful small talk and introduced me to the facilitator of the set up for the study. I got asked to power off my devices (smart watch and phone), he set me up on the first computer with headphones, the viewing room was right next door and the webcam was on for recording reactions as well. It was only a 15 minute process and once I was done I walked to the front, powered everything on and they gave me the green light to leave. I got my payment later in the evening, more than great value for time, travel and participating. They definitely compensate well for a lot of their studies via third parties. Aside from the lack of directions on how to enter and where to go once you arrive, it was a pretty positive experience and I do recommend. They do validate your parking, but I'm a straight shoot via Metro on the Rapid 761 ( just a little over 10 stops), so it was easy peasy riding green - plus this is right across from the future D/Purple Line Station for Westwood/UCLA. read more

I did a study here this week. Parking and check in process was very quick and easy. Study was very engaging and fun. We did go over time by about 15min. I recently participated in a study here at Adler Weiner on Wilshire Blvd. It was an awesome experience! The staff was very friendly, helpful and professional. The study was in a large conference room with air conditioning and was so much fun. The participants in the study were a diverse and very insightful collective of working professionals. It was such a dinamic, exciting and fun learning experience. I can't say enough about how professional and clean the facility is. The quality and standards that they follow are outstanding. I highly recommend that people who are curious about participating in research groups consider Adler Weiner because it doesn't get any better than this. outside of being rude they're a dishonest company. I did a study a few months ago and I'm still waiting on payment. I've reached out multiple times because the contract I signed with their terms said I should've gotten it weeks ago. I finally heard back and the amount they're paying out is half of what was promised. That's not legal, I completed everything asked of me and there's nothing in the terms about suddenly changing the payout amount. I'm taking it to the BBB cause it sounds like they're just pocketing money. I can't imagine that will go over tax time when they have to provide all their records to the IRS. read more

I am convinced this company uses data received from each e-mailed survey to conduct their research. Without pay, they ask you numerous questions and request way too many details for possible qualification of a study. For a few months, I submitted about 100 or more surveys for possible qualification and never received any invitation to participate in any focus group. Adler Weiner state this in their e-mails: "We are also accepting referrals. If you have family or friends that might be interested in participating, please pass along this information." This is likely stated to have people (anyone) waste time and give them free information without giving compensation. I opted out. This is a scam. Don't waste your time. read more

I completed a survey to be included in a focus group. They called on Friday, February 16th to go over details of my responses for me to be included in a group on Monday the 19th. I answered all questions, completed a follow up survey that included photos, showed up early to the Chicago/Lincolnwood location, had to complete another questionnaire, only to be told my answers did not align with what I told them over the phone 3 days earlier and was disqualified from the study. They offered $25 for gas and said there isn't anything else they can do. Another gentleman was in the same situation. We told them they called us on Friday and it seems like they were trying to just fill empty slots for the study, so the representative who called must have put in information on their end incorrectly to get that slot filled and we shouldn't be penalized for this. They said there is nothing they can do. Unprofessional considering I drove over 30 minutes to get there and also took time off work to participate. When answering the questions, there was no way to know what responses they would be looking for to try and manipulate the system to be selected, which it seemed they were accusing us of doing. The fact that it happened to 2 out of 8 in this group should make it obvious the error is on their side and they should have paid the whole stipend that was supposed to be $175. read more

Answering surveys from Adler Weiner research is the most demoralizing experience you could ever have. They offer a job that pays $375 for a day. It turns out you have to give them all of your personal information and answer a whole lot of questions, some of which require Internet research and taking their whole survey typically will take up 10 to 15 minutes of your time. Let's say you're offered 10 jobs and it takes you 15 minutes each to fill out 10 surveys even though you've answered most of those questions before. So you've spent 150 minutes. 2 1/2 hours. What if you don't get a job? it turns out your job is just filling out the surveys and never getting paid anything at all. When you finally land a job with Adler Weiner research that pays $375 that's not even true because it pays $325 and if you win the lottery of people who are there early, then you got an extra $50. Hello Yelpers! Wait, hold everything. Is there really an LA company that pays you to participate in consumer surveys with no obligation other than answering questions? Yes! It is a hit, especially for Yelp westsiders (where Adler Weiner's offices are). Totally legit, fun and worth it. Here is everything you need to know: Go on their website, adlerweiner.com, and register as an "LA consumer." Almost immediately thereafter, you will start to receive one or two emails per day, inviting you to complete a short questionnaire on different subjects being surveyed (office equipment, credit cards, cosmetics, video games, fine wine, whatever). I complete all the e-questionnaires which relate to me, especially the ones where the survey will take place downtown or my home. Then wait. You feel like you will never be called, but sooner or later your are, by one of the "screeners." The screeners have a tough job (a special shout-out to my most recent and fantastic screener, Polly), as they must, in a few minutes, figure out who will be a good match for their client. More questions follow, no big deal, and, if you are picked, a date and time are set. You're not told the actual sponsor until the survey begins, but it really doesn't matter as you are only there to give your opinions. Payment is given at the conclusion of the survey session. My two experiences both took place in my own living room. AW's clients came to me, videotaped me and asked questions (the first one was about audio software, the second one about cleaning supplies). It's very low-key. Each survey has its own pay rate (identified in the email). The two I did were for $300 each. You'll spend the money in your head ten times before you get it. A hit! read more

Unprofessional time wasters. Was having fun in the group and they kicked me for one minor issue. I did not have paramount plus when contacted and I watch one thing on it last night and I'm gone...and will not be paid. This is after I took the day off for this, did all the tech checks, showed up early, etc. No one told me don't watch any free streaming services before your group. Seems to me since it was their mistake they should compensate me but instead I get the middle finger. Worst market research experience ever. I wouldn't even bother with these people. I do not work for Adler Weiner but they have used me on and off for the past 10 years. They are a legitimate research company. As far as Eddie goes, he (and the rest of AW employees) has no control over what the client whom contracts to AW decide to do. They might change the participants demographics requirements in the last minute. It happens. There are no guarantees in the Market Research world. It's a first come first serve world... Cane last night for a technology focus group at 7:30. Finding parking on the side streets is tough had to around the area a few times. Place is nice and employees friendly. Best part was I got paid to go home! Yes that's right they didn't need me for the group and they KSU's me anyway. Took me longer to get home on the 405 at 8:15 pm, then it did at the location. Lol. I did a survey here a couple weeks ago. It was a beautiful office with a view and the staff was very professional and kind! When I called to confirm the girl gave me instructions to park on Rochester and to avoid spending $25/hr in the building parking lot. When I couldn't find Any open spaces there I stumbled upon the Ross parking lot which was free for one hour and $2.50 per hour after that. ((Free if you purchase something at their store)) SCORE! It was about 1/4 mile walk but saved a ton on parking. read more

Nice, clean, modern and offering deli sandwiches, drinks and cookies to those of us who were waiting to do consumer focus groups.....Four stars is because even with validation, it still costs $5.75 to park. I have participated 3 studies in the last few years and I can say that Adler Weiner is legit and fantastic. People like to complain a lot but its simple: fill out surveys that take about 2 minutes, answer honestly, show up on time, sit there answer some questions and you will leave with cash! Surveys: Yes you do have to fill out quite a few surveys but if you get selected you get paid for literally sitting there answering a few questions. I'll gladly fill out surveys for that. Be sure to fill them out as soon as you get them for the best chances of selection. If they have filled spots with people that have similar criteria as you you will not be selected. Parking: I have done focus groups from 2-8 hours that were in the morning and evening and I have never had to pay for parking, they always validate. Even so I don't mind paying for parking if I"m getting 150+ for two hours of answering questions. Employees: During calls and while at focus groups the employees have never been anything but courteous, helpful, friendly, and wonderful. They typically have drinks and snacks or even meals if you are in a longer study. Focus Groups: Yes they ask you to be early.. so what!? Every focus group Ive done there are several people that show up late. While sometimes they do still let them participate its disruptive, they keep having to start over and they have a tight schedule typically with a lot of info to go over and questions. They ask you to be early so people actually show up on time. Payment: They give you cash at the end of the focus group. As mentioned its typically quite a lot for just a few hours. I recently participated in a Focus group at their Westwood Location. The experience was great from the original email survey to the person who contacted me to pre screen for the focus group. The directions and necessary information was very clear and detailed (parking, accessibility etc. ). The staff that greeted me was very pleasant and made me feel welcomed. Free Benjamins for my opinion? Well okay then! I first heard about Adler Weiner at an acting class when a bunch of us were discussing alternate sources of cash flow for when gigs are sparse. Our other options involved prostitution, drug dealing, and forsaking a kidney. Given that 1) Running from the popo isn't really my thing, and 2) I need all of my organs, I was left with attending focus groups. Sounds easy enough, right? Wrong. I've found out over time that it's really easy to disqualify yourself from various panels and surveys. In the pre-screening you have to paint yourself as interested in EVERYTHING but involved with nothing. That is, there are many markets you cannot work in (or else you must obviously be biased), but you need to have a demonstrated awareness and opinion of every imaginable clothing store, various competing brands of plastic trash bags, and current-year luxury cars. Yes, because new luxury car owners are definitely the types of people who need extra cash from taking surveys. What I've learned over time? Fake it 'til you make it. Anyways, after you've taken 5 or 10 pre-screening surveys you may receive a call from a recruiter who will verify your answers and set up an appointment time with you. But you're not out of the woods yet. If you don't show up 15 minutes early to the panel, you're basically late and might be disqualified. If you don't bring 2 forms of ID, adios. All that being said, there are definitely worse ways to spend an hour of your time, and I doubt any of them will pay you as well. Just do what you're told, nod your head in agreement, and your wallet will end up a whole lot happier. read more

I've had two experiences here attending focus groups. The first time I went they overbooked and I got sent home right at the start. Oh, and I still got my two $100 Amex gift cards! That was so freakin' sweet. The second time I took part in a two hour focus group (totally unrelated topic to the first time) and got a $100 bill at the end. It was pretty fun. No need to be nervous. Lucky for me I work nearby so parking isn't an issue, but I believe they do reimburse you $5 for parking downstairs or something. I first signed up with Adler Weiner Research and first time i got a study. i was paid $350 and it was awesome. Then mysteriously somehow i applied to hundreds and hundreds more over the past year or so +. And i haven't been called or messaged about any of them once. I call and ask them why, and their excuse is that the qualifications are super strict. Thats BS. I definitely am one of the first people every single time to fill out a survey. And definitely qualify for every study i've ever applied for otherwise i wouldn't have wasted my precious time filling out and completing nonsense. I truly believe this company is either discriminative, fraudulently getting you to fill out surveys and harvesting personal info from you and selling it to companies from the back door, or just has primates running it or maybe even all three. Imagine applying to 500 positions, being qualified and not getting a phone call for even an interview. IMPOSSIBLE!!!! They called me and offered a $175 payment to attend a preview of cars near my home. Since I am thinking of buying a car, I was interested. First I had to answer about 5 - 10 minutes of questions. Then the caller said, "I will ask my supervisor if your category is open". She came back a few minutes later and said,"sorry, your particular group is full". Worst experience ever!!! Took a day off from work to do an all day study at a business and then at my office. 13 days later and I still have not been paid. Each time I call, a different person promises me the check was sent out on a different date. I was told Friday I could pick up a check today if it hadn't arrived by today(day 13)... it didn't arrive, so I called...now they say I have to wait til Wednesday...and if I don't get it, they'll issue a new check... I'm sure Wednesday I'll get another excuse... I gave my time and input and deserve to be paid as promised. And...they are so rude when I call to ask where the payment is! Extremely unprofessional! I just left so disappointed and pissed off. I've been to several other focus groups over the years, but this experience was hands down the all time worst! They are all liars, scam artists, and will completely waste your time and money! Do not, REPEAT, do not jeopardize your work schedule to take time off to do a focus group for these crooks. Here's what happened: I got a phone call and answered a list of questions for a potential group study, normal. Then for the past couple of weeks, I had follow up calls and emails to confirm my day and time to show up for the study. I was even re-asked some of the same questions and was told I qualified. Ok, normal. Even the morning of the study, I got a call from the scheduler, Julie, to triple check and confirm everything. She was home sick for the day and so wouldn't be at the office, but still had to call me to make sure I was going. Ok, normal. Although I felt bad she sounded really ill. So I drive all the way to B.F. Westwood, and I got there early because I allowed plenty of time for traffic. Usually if you're first to arrive they give u an extra cash incentive. Also, usually there's snacks, sandwiches, and drinks in the waiting area. This was the first time ever when I get there first, there was no cash incentive, definitely no snacks, and they suddenly inform me that they don't validate so parking will be $25!!! The only warning we received about parking was that validation after 5pm would be $5. But how on earth would this apply to almost all of their study groups except for the very last ones of the day for the 6-8pm session!? The front desk day manager Samira completely ignored me while I was there when I checked in, which was really rude. I had to deal with her subordinate, Carlo, aka "the night manager" who tried to tell me that it was better to pay $25 for parking without validation than to park on the street, which only has a 2 hour limit, and get a $75+ parking ticket because you're guaranteed to spend more than 2 hours during the session. Gee, thanks. So I actually left and went down to the Bank of America on the lobby level and they were happy to validate me! Thanks to them, I saved $20 and only had to pay $5 for parking on the way out. Came back. Meeting started. Then they said they had to stop everything and take me out of the room because apparently out of nowhere I was in the wrong group! Such a huge waste of time! I had been there early, my name was on their list, they had a nametag ready for me, they made me wait, then made up a lame excuse about not actually being in the right group even though Julie the scheduler had triple+++ confirmed my time. Carlo was completely unreasonable and didnt believe my explanations so he actually called Julie who was home sick and she must have blamed the whole thing on me because they sent me home without pay! Why on earth would anyone just show up to an appointment when they were in fact supposed to be there? Julie didn't want to admit she put down the wrong info for me, which was so weird. I asked to speak to whomever was in charge and they told me to call back at 6am!! the next day when a supervisor would be in. I asked why he would call someone at home sick but wouldn't call the person supposedly in charge??? Carlo also refused to give me the names of the other coworkers with him laughing about how upset I was: a white woman with long blond hair, a black woman, and a chubby Hispanic woman. They seriously wasted my whole afternoon and I wanted everyone on Yelp to be warned. I'm going to file complaints with their corporate headquarters and BBB because they should have still paid me $150. read more

Absolutely HORRIBLE research group. Incredibly unprofessional. Deceptive research practices. The positive yelp reviews are fake I can assure you. It's not a "couple of bucks for parking" it's $25. They allowed me to attend a research session which was incredibly poorly managed, as they spoke to the attendees like we were dollar signs in their eyes. I found out I wasn't even qualified for the panel after I was honest and told them directly that I had worked in the field that the research was being done on and he said that would absolutely disqualify me from the panel...."so don't say that again, I didn't hear you say that." The day before, a followup phone call came in to me to verify that all the products I had said I had previously tried. I said look, I don't have a lot a time and the caller said "Look, you have to make sure to say the exact same products or else we'll look like idiots to the client and you have to remember all the products to say you've tried." I can only imagine that this only scratches the surface of the lies and deception they are feeding to their clients. I wonder how many hundreds of thousands of dollars they have made on entirely bunk "research" from this scam they are running. The guy staff member with longer black hair at the front desk told me that they pay them barely anything hourly at all, and slave drive them. This would explain the poor communication that directly caused many panelists to show up late for the panel.. by just 30 seconds, to arriving a few minutes late of the arrival time we were told. This would seem to be okay for most people to show up to something within a minute or two of the panel start time, but they incredibly rudely informed everyone that had arrived, even 30 seconds after the arrival time they told us to arrive by, that they had started the panel and that everyone who arrived even 15 seconds after they pulled in the panelists, must leave now and go home. "You have to be on, uh time!!!" the long haired wormy front desk employee snarked to panelists that had arrived within 2 minutes of the start time of the Panel. "You were supposed to show up 15 minutes early!" Said another employee, scoffing at the latecomers that had struggled through traffic to get to Westwood in the afternoon. No one told *any of us* to arrive 15 minutes early. Absurd to be talked to so incredibly rudely by the higherup in the suit who came out and belittled and berated all of us in the waiting room when we complained for their lack of communication. They obviously cared nothing about us. We were excited to participate and took time to do what we thought would be a fun panel for about hundred bucks of pay. If his happens to you and you were on time to the panel and they told you to leave...*INSIST* that they pay you. Take their money, probably get blacklisted from future panels for asserting yourself, and RUN. Theres plenty of companies that do market research out there that are legitimate and treat panelists with the utmost respect. If you are a **company** looking to use Adler Weiner, I would *HIGHLY* suggest looking elsewhere as this company is blatantly dishonest, and are incredibly rude to the people that they rope into showing up for their panels. read more
