This facility in Long Beach provides meeting/conference rooms for people like you and I. Well regular everyday people I should say a space to participate in focus groups. It also provides businesses or interest groups the opportunity to gather people with specific qualifications and dissect their opinions about a common product. While a moderator leads the discussion, other spy's are behind the glass watching you. This facility works with other marketing focus group agencies, by providing them space in Long Beach to conduct their study. Which is what happened in my case. These groups are a great way to make $$$. The building is Big and BEAUTIFUL. Located in Long Beach near the airport. If your in North Orange County Ball rd or Cerritos will get you there as you advoid the freeway. There is also plenty of parking. They are located downstairs. You can't miss the sign when you walk in. They ask that you check in about 15 minutes early. The receptionist is friendly. She asks for your ID to make sure its you. They confirm your information on file then take you into one of the rooms. They provide snacks in case you get hungry. Their bathroom is clean. I first found out about AIM after my son was approached outside Edward's Movie Theater about participating in a focus group. I was kind of skeptical because I had not heard about paid focus groups. My son completed his focus group and was paid in cash. He told me that it was easy and how much he enjoyed it. He also said they fed him. After my son's experience, I looked into paid focus groups for myself. I participated in quite a few, but had not been contacted by AIM until recently. The first study I was brought in to participate in was overbooked so I was paid by check and sent home a few minutes later without participating. I was called a couple of weeks later and brought in to participate. The study was short, easy, interesting, and fun. They also paid me in cash which was nice. The business is located in a beautiful building near the Long Beach Airport. The office is modern and decorated really nice. There is a huge piece of art in the shape of a dragon on one of the walls. It's a very comfortable and friendly environment. The employees at the front desk were friendly both times I came in. They also fed me both times I came in. I would definitely come back to participate in more focus groups if they call me again. read more

Stay away from AIM Research of Long Beach. So a week before, I talked to a recruiter who said I was scheduled to participate in a movie goers focus group in Long Beach at 8PM. They sent me an email asking for a confirmation reply, but strangely they called me 2 days later asking more questions. Afterward, they said they would have to check with the supervisor to see if I should come in or not, so they told me to await their call. I waited and sent out emails but no replies. I've called to see if I'm still scheduled but no response. AIM threatens to cut you off their list if you're ever late or skip, and seeing as how I didn't want to end up on that list, I drove down to Long Beach from L.A. in peak traffic conditions. Got to Long Beach by 6 to grab some food before I go in. Then Reina finally emails me back, saying that I'm not scheduled anymore. I'm upset but I calmly tell her to explain how this happened, and she tells me whoever I talked to must not have communicated well, and should have told me ahead of time. I asked to be compensated for gas, as it is their fault for not informing me ahead of time, but she says she doesn't have any power to do so, and that was the extent of her help. I asked for the name of the employee, to which she said she'll get back to me soon and never did. Unfortunately, professionalism is not a value this company embraces well, as you can tell by the review below. I have been involved in more than 10 focus group/research discussions with many different companies. They were all fairly positive experiences with happy outcomes for myself and the companies. I have never been treated as poorly as I was tonight at Assistance in Marketing (aka AIM Research) . I was cold called at home for a concept car focus group. I answered the questions to their satisfaction and was chosen to participate. I was then called back a few days before the appointment date they set, to answer the questions again with another person. I once again answered in a way which qualified me for the focus group. I was told to take my ID and auto registration and be at the Long Beach facility on Kilroy Airport Way, 15 minutes before my appointment time to fill out some papers. I got there 20 minutes early and quickly filled out the papers. I was alone in the waiting room for about 10 minutes then others began to show up. They also were given papers to fill out which they began to do. My appointment time came and passed and the two new people were still filling out their papers and I was still sitting waiting... Employees were entering the room during this whole time, looking around, speaking with the receptionist, then leaving again. The two men who came in after I did, by this time had been escorted to the back to begin. I asked a male employee name Chris who had been in and out repeatedly when I would be taken in. He said "not for quite a while". I asked him "why?" He told me they were backed up in the back. He then left the room, came back, looked at my paperwork, spoke with the receptionist, and left for the last time. The receptionist then came over and told me that "they could not use me." I said "what are you talking about, I answered all your questions?" He said I answered a question wrong, I explained that I answered it the same as I had previously had twice before. He then told me that they were not going to pay for my time either as per Chris. This was 5 pm. My appointment was at 4:35, and I entered the facility at 4:10. I drove 20 miles there, and 20 miles back home for absolutely nothing. I was furious. My paperwork had been sitting there all that time. The receptionist and the ass of a man "Chris" had both looked at it several times without any complaints. It was not until I questioned why others were taken in and not myself that I was told they "couldn't use me". How very unprofessional . I have worked with other local focus groups and they treat their participants as guests and not beggars. I have a good job and a working spouse. I do these groups for extra cash which I spend on my grandson and kids. When I called to complain to the director a Ms Marilou Murphy-Molinas, I was disconnected a few minutes into the call. I called back and was transferred to her line which was never answered again...I stayed on hold for 15 minutes, then hung up and sent her an email. I will update this review if and when I ever get a response about the unprofessional behavior of her staff. read more

Great company. They had me do 30 minutes of questions for 90 bucks and I got asked to go into a 90 min interactive group assignment for another 75 bucks. Really quick and fun definitely will do again. And don't be late. Consider it like a quick job and take it serious and involve your opinion on their topic. read more

I participated in a focus group about sports at "Assistance in Marketing" in Long Beach, CA on the evening of 10/8/2012. There were ten of us plus Ron, the moderator. A pleasant experience done very professionally. Don't hesitate if asked to be on a focus group with them. I would love to do another one. read more

AIM contacted me regarding a study about SUV owners. The facility in Long Beach has a very friendly and genuine staff. I did a research a little over six months and the process was fast they said it will take about 2 hours and ended up taking less than that. they had snacks and coffee for all participants which is always good. I agree with other comments regarding being on time or to be in the safe side be there 15-30 min. prior of the time they need you in. Totally unorganized. I was told the study paid $150 for 1.5 hours. When I got there they said the study was running a little over and would take 2hrs. I mentioned that it would have been a good idea if they called people in advance if that was an issue since I had limited time with my babysitter. Fast forward 3 hrs later and still in study. One of the researchers told me I was lucky we were not in the group the day prior that took over 5hrs. I finally got finished 3.5 hours later. Bottom line....if you tell people a price for a certain time frame you are obligated to stick to that verbal contract. I would not have done the study if I had know but unfortunately they keep you hostage and don't pay until you complete the study no matter how long it takes. read more

AIM contacted me regarding an electric car study- in 3 parts. They confirmed my participation in the first two portions- an online and then later a drive study....The drive study was to take place first half of a work day- and was about an hour away from my home. They made me promise to be available for this portion to even do the first low paying online survey part. I cleared my schedule and made myself available as the drive study promised good payment. They just now cancelled me- and i only found out because i emailed them i had never received payment for part one of online study. The office is super disorganized and I would never again set my time aside for AIM- they promise big and do not deliver- they operate in a "one way direction" meaning they want your time and commitment but do not hold themselves up to reciprocating to you. Avoid them and working with them at all costs--- NOT worth your time. read more

This was for real, got paid to tell someone what I think about something. You have to fit the demographic they are looking for. Sometimes they fill up really quick. One time I was on the phone with a guy and by the time we were done chatting my age group had already filled up. I didn't mind. I'm pretty down to earth and I knew if they wanted me they'd call back and like magic they did a week later. Love these people, so friendly and welcoming. read more
