I brought in 2 tanks to top off for the weekend and one tank took 2.9 gallons and the other 2.7. I was charged $44.60, in advance to fill them, which means I paid about $9.00 a gallon. When I was paying in advance, I asked how could they know how much propane my tanks would take? The weird answer was that if I exchanged them I would only get 15 lbs of propane, but they filled to 20 lbs. I said I understood that but what if my tanks were not completely empty? No answer. If I were rich I wiuld bring in half full tanks to be filled just to see the absurdity play out again. Next time I will go to a place that charges only for the propane i get.

I went to this business at around 11 am to get a propane tank exchanged. The gate was opened but…read morethere did not seem to be anyone around. I knocked on the door. Nothing. I honked my horn. Nothing. I never once saw a human except me on the premises. I called on my cell and got a message telling me they were on another line and to leave a message, so I did. I never got a call back. There is a sign on their gate saying "Compare Price with Walmart" and a $13.99 price. Well I ended up at Walmart and their price was about .25 cents more, but there were there when I needed them and they loaded the tank in my car. For a quarter, Abingdon Propane got their chance for my business and they will not get another.

I didn't even come to rent a truck, just to get moving supplies (which is a terrific selection, by golly they have everything, even sale items) and they were still very helpful. They even pointed me to the Free ReUse Box for which I was very grateful, I discovered moving is expensive. My friend loves to use these folks to rent an occasional truck for her catering business too, and has nothing but good things to say about this business here. The place has history, it used to be a Datsun car dealership and they have pictures on the wall of that, now how cool is that?!

Even if you need propane, this place is a rip off in comparison to the per pound pricing in the area.
